Hello! I recently hit 200 followers which I’m super excited about! I wanted to do a small event to mark the occasion.
I’m not an artist or anything so I was wondering what to do for a bit. I’ve always believed and encouraged that writing just little snippets of stories or ideas is a wonderful exercise in creativity, we can often get stuck on the idea that everything we write has to be some big great Thing. Stuck on a story? Try writing a little au for your original content where something is just a little different.
So to practice, encourage others, and help people see a little tidbit of whatever a/b/o thing they want I’ll be doing 200-500 word drabbles on request for the next 7 days!
They may not all come out within the week but I will do my best to work on them. There are just a couple rules
- No fandom- I may not like the fandom or know it.
- Nothing sexual- maybe an allusion to a past hookup or something flirty but theres only 500 words
- No p*dophilia- two kids out on a date? Fine. Adult with child? No.
Besides that it’s pretty open! Just tell me a little bit about u want? Some angst, some comfort? A/O, B/O, poly? Medieval, futuristic sci fi? Dystopian? World weary salt of the earth detective and the new single mom? Super nice but oblivious omega and possessive beta?

concept for soulmates in an omegaverse:
- what if the feeling of, for want of a better word, soulmate-yness is really just like super-MHC; it’s about detecting compatible fertility, someone who is biologically perfect for you, in terms of passing on ideal DNA?
- and it detects compatible personality traits too so you’re not just truematching with someone who’d give you your genetically most-ideal kids but who’d be best at raisingthem with you, according to your personality?
- ergo: the soulmate-sense is detecting combinedideal-gene-giver and ideal-caregiver material (saying ‘this person combined with you would produce the healthiest happiest best-looking version of your kids and also be good for you as a person’.)
- cue the parents of every soulmated couple being even more insufferable about grandkids
- maybe it originally started as a way for breadwinning hunter-gatherer alphas to go out into the world, while their omega relatives are safe at home, and detect by scent which other alphas would be good matches for their omega relatives/siblings without having to risk exposing them (so that the alphas are not killing off potentially genetically-awesome brothers/sisters in law during resource competition).
- ditto with omegas coming into contact with other omegas
- it would work to a lesser extent to detect potential same-sex friends
- and therefore it would mean same-designation couples could also have soulmates, because it’s about expanding your group(your number of descendants, whether that is direct orindirect)?
- (i.e. when both alphas/omegas are gay obviously it means they wouldn’t be physically attracted to those opposite-sex relatives or siblings, so the two alphas/omegas are true mates.)
- and because it’s originally about expanding your family group, the people with the highest chance of findingtheir soulmate would be those with lots of friends or relatives, and especially siblings, twins or triplets etc, who have the same tastes and values as them (because they have more similar people out in the world detecting potential matches for them, and maybe their sense of smell would become more highly honed to reflect that).
- in a case where all the siblings are the same sex/designation, and have the same tastes, particularly if they are twins/triplets, the soulmate would smell nice to all of them and all of them would smell nice to the soulmate, but only one would smell amazing (because of minute differences in values and health and development). But after they’ve bonded, the soulmate would smell like ‘family’ to the siblings, and therefore stop being attractive. Potential for family drama!
- so the soulmate of a (genetically) disabled person would only be someone who has a compatible personality and genes that would combat that person’s specific health problems in their kids, if possible (even if they too were just as severely disabled) andvice-versa.
- (eg. Person A has HealthProblem + genes-that-solve-person-B’s-HealthProblem and Person B has HealthProblem + genes-that-solve-person-A’s-HealthProblem).
- (I think biology would be indifferent to a disabled person being happy to have similarly-disabled kids; it would pick them a soulmate who has cancel-out-disability genes, whether they want it or not, just because it’s more useful in survival terms to notbe disabled. Of course they could still choose notto have kids with their soulmate.)
- soulmate matches would be controversial historically because they ignore eurocentric beauty standards (i.e people of similar levels of attractiveness tend to bond to each other so you’d have butthurt racists being forced to admitthat someone is good-looking, no matter their race, because their soulmate is.)
- which isn’t to say that only good-lookingpeople would have soulmates; you might have two very weird looking people soulmatched because their weird genes, if blended together, would make a good-looking person.
- (People who want to convince others that they haven’t had, eg. plastic surgery to look that good, would definitely lie and claim their parents were super-compatible soulmates, because it increases their chances of being good-looking. Similarly, competitive grandparents would be claiming that their x-in-law is their kid’s soulmate because it proveshow perfect their grandchildren are.).
- it would make psychopaths un-matchable, because even if someone had Hybristophilia and believeda psychopath would be a good protector, the fact that a psychopath is incapable of caring for/about them or any kids would rule them out of the soulmate pool. (The Lore would be that psychopaths literally have no souls.)
- and it might mean that soulmates would be likely to have complementary opposite qualities (eg. one far-sighted one near-sighted one tall one short one fair one dark one bookish one sporty) because the soulmate-sense is hunting for an ideal blend.
- (But people with a lot of not-physically-apparent unique quirks would be more likely to have a soulmate who looks similar, because they’ve got so many quirks to counterbalance that the physical-complements take a backseat.)
- it might mean people deliberately date someone who has impressive qualities they wishthey had so they can claim to other people that that person is their soulmate because it makes themlook more impressive (since people will then assume they must have these impressive qualities themselves).
Unanswered A/B/O Worldbuilding Questions
- How would the ability to scent alter human history?
- if people are sensitive to Bad Smells, did sanitation advance at a faster rate?
- What about ventilation?
- Or is it only other humans’ scentsthat people can detect?
- Do people reallysmell like other things (*cough*cliche*cough*) or is that psychosomatic?
- Does it work like Amortentia in HP where the most physically compatible person smells like all your favourite things?
- Where does perfume fit into all this?
- Is wearing perfume seen as ‘fake’, shallow, or basic / low maintenance? Something only omegas do?
- Is the perfume industry Thecosmetic industry?
- Do people make a big show of only wearing fragrance-free (even if they don’t) to make it seem like that amazing scent they have is All Natural?
- Is adultery still possible if everyone can scent everyone else?
- Are married omegas expected not to scent-block because of the assumption that it’s covering something up, or is this an old-fashioned view?
- Are there places where everyonescent-blocks (like the work place), or where no one scent-blocks?
- When did scent-blocking technology become a thing?
- Is scent-blocking seen as empowering, for omegas? Androgynous?
- Can people cross-scent like cross-dressing?
- Are there cosmetic procedures that can enhance scent?
- Does a person’s scent alter with age?
- If the neck has scent-glands, and is therefore an erogenous zone, how does that affect fashion?
- Is a covered neck considered demure, mysterious?
- What about long, neck-covering hairstyles? And necklaces?
- Does the appearance of a person’s neck form a big part of their attractiveness?
- Are there cosmetics designed to enhance the appearance of necks??
- (What does a scent gland looklike, anyway?)
- What about noses? Are noses considered sexy??
- Can a good neck and a cute nose move someone from an 8 to a 10?
- If smelling someone is foreplay, what does mean for people with naturally flared nostrils? Do they get hyper-sexualised?
- If smelling someone is foreplay, how do unscrupulous people take advantage of this?
- Are there alphas pretending to brush their nose so they can sneak a sniff of an omega? Deliberately standing downwind?
- Are ‘genteel’ alphas expected to stand upwind?
- Do events get called off because of Wind??
- Do innocent alphas get attacked because they scratched their nose just at the wrong moment?
- What does this mean for nose hygiene? Is it considered rude to scratch or blow your nose in public?
- What about farts?

If a beta doesn’t react to peoples’ scents the way an alpha or an omega would, how does that affect the way alphas and omegas seebetas?
Canbetas detect scents, or are they just ‘unaffected,’ as they lack the necessary knot/slick-producing anatomy?
In terms of prejudice/stereotyping this lack of a reaction could lead to them being represented as:
- cool / aloof / unobtainable
- dull / oblivious
- deadpan
- sexless
- passionless
- uptight
- self-controlled
- solitary / anti-social
- ascetic
Do betas face stereotyping about how ‘passionless’ and ‘dry’ they are in bed?
Regarding beta anatomy, if the ‘ideal’ (ie. alpha) dick is one with a knot in it, do betas get stigmatised as being ‘skinny’ downstairs? Likewise, if the ‘ideal’ is an omega’s ridiculous slip n’ slide, are betas stigmatised as ‘dry’ by comparison? (And do female betas have periods instead of heats? How the heck are theyregarded?)
What does beta porn look like compared to A/O porn? Is the ‘aloofness’ part of the allure? Do betas occupy the ‘sexy librarian’ position in the public consciousness?
If A/O couples are the equivalent of ‘straight’ in this ‘verse, regardless of gender, does that mean betas occupy the same position as queer people in thisworld?
Do basic white omegas boast about having a beta friend? Are there beta bars? Beta pride parades?
How do people see betas who date A/Os instead of other betas? Is that seen as ‘straight’, or is it resented, as if a beta is taking away some A/Os chance to bond that person?
Are B/B couples seen as straight or gay?
Are they routinely subjected to invasive questions about the logistics of their sex-lives? (’Okay but who’s doing the bitingin that relationship? how do you decide who nests?’)
How do A/Os react if mistaken for a beta?
In regard to heat/ruts, which they never have to experience, are betas regarded with pity or envy, or both?
If there are laws in place to guarantee annual leave for heat/ruts, what do betas do with that extra time off?
Is it usually used up helping out A/O friends and relatives, or is there a thing like a beta-vacation? Do A/Os resent this and see it as an ‘extra’ vacation, even though they have the same amount of time off?

I’m soft for Alpha/Beta/Omega stay at home parents with their pups. The idea that it’s only an Omega’s job, in my verse, came from the idea that they’re ‘weaker’. Even though back in the day, it was common for Alpha’s and Omega couples take turns.
Alpha: In this day and age, it is uncommon to see an Alpha in an Alpha/Omega relationship be stay at home parents. Though that doesn’t mean it is absolutely unheard of! Contrary to popular belief, Alpha’s can be just as good parents as Omegas. An Alpha would probably flounder just a little due to their protective nature. Like is the knives out of their pups reach? Even if it’s up on the high shelf. Did they accidentally poison the food? Is the water supply cold enough? But not too cold, cause hypothermia. They try and make sure their pup is protected, though that might get in the way of the pups feelings. But many Alpha’s try and prevent from being emotionally detached from their child. As that is sadly, a pattern for many Alpha parents, protect and care and love but don’t explain and talk. Many, if they start to see the signs that they are falling into this behavior, try and fix it. Especially if they’re a single parent.
They’d teach their pup how to den, even if they don’t know their dynamic yet. It’s just a nice way to bond with their child. And many will continue to help and bond with their child this way. Even if they’re now a Kiddie and an Omega or Beta. Taking their Kiddie into their more protective den (a den inside a den essentially) and watching TV, or doing other activities such as snuggling with them is nice. Although Alpha’s may be awkward about it, they also try and help their pup, now Kiddie, through their presenting. Giving them tips and meds and taking them to the doctor regularly. Sometimes a bit too much, but Alpha parents are worry worts and want to make sure they’re doing it right.
Funnily enough, in A/A couples that possess a man and woman, it is usually the Alpha men that become the stay at home parent. Alpha’s don’t know why, they’re stumped on why this is the case, but many don’t complain. In A/B couples, it usually depends on the individual. But it’s more common for Betas to stay at home than the Alpha. But there are still many A/B couples that have the Alpha stay at home.
Beta: Beta’s are often known to be switching stay at home parents. One year they work, another year they stay at home with their child. It’s a system and is the most common for Beta/Beta households. However, many B/B couples also have one parent be the stay at home one. It depends on the individual and statistics show that it’s almost a 50% 50% on which Beta stays home in B/B couples processing a man and woman. (The statistic is 51% Woman, 49% men.) Beta’s are often thought to be the 'parents that don’t care much,’ which is absolutely not true. A stay at home Beta parent works just as hard to make sure their pup is taken care of. Perfectly balancing out their protective and nurturing instincts. They know they didn’t poison the food, and know the knives are out are reach. But they are no nonsense with injuries and will take action for the slightest of cut. Infection is always a possibility!
Beta parents who are stay at home or single parents are very diligent in making sure their pup or Kiddie know how to be independent and take care of themsleves. How to do the basics like read and write, then how to cook and clean things correctly. Sometimes, they get so worried about them nit making it into the world, that they don’t let their child do all the fun activities that they want. Like playing an instrument or taking classes for artistry and pottery. But many Beta’s recognize this, and try and fix it. Often with a long talk and apology and gifts. Also, when their pup turns into a kiddie, them gifting them all the hingeded barrettes!
In B/O couples, it depends on the individuals! Though it is shown that: In lesbian couples the Beta tends to stay home, in B/O couples that possess a Omega man and a Beta woman that the male Omega stays home. When it’s switched it’s usually still the Omega that stays home. In gay couples, it’s the Omega again. Though of course, this can very!
Omega: Omega’s are often seen as the main stay at home parents. They are usually seen as the most nurturing due to that being the default Omegan trait. A stay at home/single parent Omega’s are usually very laid back. Many see them as the ones that would usually worry, however this is not the case. Omega parents are the type that will hold their child close when need be. Worry when need be. Why be worried all the time? The pups can feel that energy. Stay at home Omega parents also seem to find it easier to keep track of their pups/kiddies if they are getting into trouble. This is due to their increased hearing. They can hear almost everything their little one is getting up to. But that doesn’t mean they never worry or are overprotective. In fact they’ll constantly check if their pup/kiddie/child is okay by simple things like cuddling. They’ll cuddle their little ones over and over to check over them. Which can get their kids probably annoyed.
Omegas will teach their pup how to nest, and will bond with them with it. Or if they get to the age where they don’t want to nest, will constantly drag them in to watch a movie with them. They also will constantly reassure their child, they don’t want them feeling bad, though sometimes they can go overboard. Many Omega’s mistakes with child raising is giving into what their child wants too much, especially if they’re Kiddies. Which can give problems in the future. Though it’s hard to stop it, many try to stop saying ‘Yes,’ to everything their pup/kiddie wants. Omegas also seem to know when they’re child is upset, and are far more sensitive to their child’s emotions, and will try and fix it. Giving them blankets and stones and cute little stuffed animals to make them cheer up and not feel as void!
In O/O couples that possess a man and woman, they actually switch like B/B couples. Taking turns and switching out. And it seems to carry on the pattern even if it’s a MlM, WlW or NBlM or F. They tend to switch places and rotate who takes care of their pup/kiddie. Of course, there’s always exceptions but this is the most common pattern amongst O/O couples.

A lot of kiddies getting into that stage of their life of thinking their parents are annoying. Like, Mom you don’t have to scent me everywhere I go. No Dad I don’t need to carry a bat around. No Omma, Amma, Emta. I don’t need you to carry me around. No I won’t say I love you back because you told me to say it back infront the whole school

Okay so in my third Omegaverse au headcanon, they have ears and a tail. But I still think they will raise their hands up on their heads to simulate ears when pretending. It’s just a “aye I forget I have these lol,” type things.
Really bad movies (both in production, execution and story) trying to portray Alphas/Betas/Omegas in a non traditional/non stereotypical light but: Alpha still is hot headed, angry and horny but in a more “im just lonelyyyy,” way. The Omega still weak and just wanting to have pups. But “they’re an Artist,” And the Beta being the one to bring them together/gives advice to the Omega. “But it’s not stereotypical cause Beta is in every episode” the director says
Setting is the broad term to describe the dynamics instinctual homing behaviors. (Denning, Nesting, Cocooning)
The main traits that distinguish each is:
Denning usually occupies two rooms, and it’s usually with one room inside the other
Nesting is an area scented primarily to the ground covered in comfort items for the Omega
Cocooning is a tube/tunnel like structure and is the smallest out of all the Setts

-Alpha’s denning is usually seen as a good thing, but what’s stigmatized is their smaller den that’s inside their bigger den. The smaller den is usually seen as something weak due to having things that the Alpha finds comfort in. So it wasn’t uncommon for Alphas in the older days to hide/keep their smaller dens secure and a secret from everyone else
-Denning structures have most of their scenting in higher places. Like shelves, bed posts, the light switch
-I can just imagine some short Alpha climbing up on the ceiling fan to scent it pfft
-Nests being full of almost every single texture of blankets because a particular Omega likes it
-A Nest having lots of stones and rocks in it because the Omega likes collecting
-kiddies going through phases with their Setts
-Betas chilling on their phone in their Cocoon
-Alpha smaller Dens looking a lot like nests and their friends being okay with it and letting them feel open
-A Beta rolling around in their cocoon to get around
-Cocoons got their name because they were first stood up/hanged like an actual cocoon
-A particular Nest being dark and a little gloomy
-Alpha’s being confused on where to put their Den due to there being so many rooms
-Betas are experts at wrapping usually due to having to wrap rightly for their Sett
-Omega’s having stores upon stores of nesting options!!
-There are scam companies that make super soft blankets but out of toxic materials
-Little small personal businesses that will take an Omega’s order and make it to their standards if they can’t find anything that suits them
-Alpha’s also having small business options.
-These started because of the stigma that Alphas don’t like softer things
-An influx of Alpha denning stores or isles in stores are starting though!
-Beta’s usually are seen having the easiest when it comes for finding supplies
-Many make their Cocoons out of sleeping bags, or both a sleeping bag and a blanket!
-Though finding the right blanket can be challenging on its own
-There’s a few businesses though that make “Beta ready Blankets,”
-These blankets were a instant hit for not only Betas but Omegas and even some Alpha
-This is because it’s not only thick, durable, breathable and soft, it’s moldable so it’s easier to cocoon
-Sometimes Omegas, Betas and Alphas that were raised in a close in large family, will show all these behaviors.
-Intersex Dynamics also show these behaviors
-Sometimes it’s 50/50/50 and sometimes it’s 20/50/30 or 50/20/20, split between them etc!
-The dynamics getting aggressive/defensive when someone steps/enters/messes with their Sett unannounced
-An Omega mother teaching their pups and kiddies how to nest
-Beta’s helping their kiddies, Omega, Alpha and Beta on their Setts
-Alpha’s buying all these little things for their Alpha child
-Large packs having one large room they just call “Their Sett,” because they all just relax and let loose in there. It’s a combination of a Nest, Den, and Cocoon!
-Having Dens, Nests and Cocoons are a way for the dynamics can de stress and feel safe. And it’s more common these days to see everybody of every dynamic accepting and understanding that
