What does it mean when angels start falling from the skies? Jaya’s world was turned upside down after her mother’s death, but the rest of the world was focused on the fatal crash of a winged, metallic-skinned Being. No one knows why they’re falling, where they come from, or even what they are, but upwards of 80 have now descended to the earth. Jaya’s father is obsessed and uproots the family to Edinburgh where he thinks the next fall will be. Little does he know that it’s Jaya who’ll find the Being, miraculously alive for the first time ever. Keeping her alive and getting her back home is a different story, as there’s a serious reward out there for anyone who turns a Being into the shady research centers cropping up across the world. If Jaya wants to succeed she’s going to need some help and a whole lotta luck.
Right off the bat I’ll say that I think this book tried to do a little too much. Jaya’s falling for someone new while her previous relationship is never really finalized. Everything about her friendship-turned-relationship with Leah feels a bit shallow and they never really address the fact that Jaya has moved on by the end. It didn’t really drive any of Jaya’s actions so I’m not quite sure why the relationship was necessary when a friendship would serve to advance the plot the same way. Jaya’s grief over her mother’s death and the blame she carries I felt was much better done. There were some really heartwarming scenes as Jaya finally manages to open up to her family after hiding what she considers to be a damning truth about that day. I also really liked that Cameron’s angels aren’t majestic, magically English-speaking beings, but more like a goofy, confused Toothless running around eating cookies and falling off chairs. Teacake (because what else do you name an angel who loves teacakes?) provides a lot of hilarious scenarios in between some of the more serious conversations about loss and chronic illness. All in all, if you’ve ever wanted to read about a desperate quest to save a completely hapless magical being, pick it up!
Middle Grade Fiction Small Town Pride by Phil Stamper Jake is just starting to enjoy life as his school’s first openly gay kid. It’s Valentine’s Day, and while it’s often celebrated with romance in mind, friends should also share some love as well. (Even when one of them miiight have some different feelings for the other.)
Happy Valentine’s Day to those who celebrate it! ❤

Anton Brooke, known for being an infamous teenage gang leader back on his island, but a nasty troublemaker in Hedgehog Town, giving himself the self-proclaimed title as the #1 Hooligan of Hedgehog Town. He is the oldest in a family cavalcade of mischief. Anton is known for being a bully, and isn’t afraid to pick on someone OR start fights. Not to mention that he’s also full of himself, has quite the ego and could get away with the things he wanted at home. While not having the best of stamina, this reptile is smarter than he would seem at first glance. He can utilize his tail as a weapon to knock his enemies away with extreme force. Anton will not hesitate to hurt you if he wants to get physical (if you’re not a totalnuisance to him).
Age: 15
Birthplace: Mystic Cave Zone, Westside Island
Likes: Taking charge of literally anything, Revving around in his Jeep, Being the best there is (Well that’s what he tells himself, anyway…)
Anton’s “Classic Outfit” is his base outfit for promo stuff, doodles, or if I run out of clothing ideas. Designing this guy was a MESS. Anton, next to Vector, is one of the first and still VERY few reptiles (as in Crocodile kinda reptile.) across the series. So at first his design was based heavily on Vector the Crocodile’s as seen in my 2016 version of him. Then as I found some sort of design stride for him as I continued with concepts for the comic leading up to now.
Well, it looks like Amy and Nicky encounter some new neighbors….
They seem nice and totally not creepy…
Whew, took a bit due to things being crazy over here recently, but I’m glad I got this one out! We are now introduced to Anton and one of his siblings!
Hmm, looks like there’s new faces in Hedgehog Town and Amy is eager to say hello! Nicky? …Not so much.
Welp, I’ve finally got around to finishing this even though I meant to post it Friday. (Thank you depressed brain ;;v;;) But this weekend, I’ll be working on more comic progress in another livestream! I’ll let you guys know once more when I’ll be posting the times.
