After dedicating the dark moon to work with Ash through death and rebirth. For the new moon and into the next month I will work with Alder, look outwards, take action and not shy from any challenges ahead. It’s the time to harness the quickening energies of the growing season and step forth on the path with new fervour and commitment. Alder Fearn: The Warrior Tree, The Tree of Nobel Causes Lunar month: March 18th - April 14th Element: fire and water Animal: Hawk and Hare Meaning: Shield and protect, heal and nourish Lesson of Alder: Feed your fire and take action, be courageous, then heal with water … #alder #treespirit #ogham #pagan #paganart #sacredart #nomeart https://www.instagram.com/p/Cbxy5bwjNpw/?utm_medium=tumblr
So this full moon I pulled only one card … Ursus for protection. Blessed full moon and let us welcome this coming equinox with open arms, offering protection and safety to all in need ✨#fullmoon #oldwaysmagickoracle #oracledeck #pagan #paganart #sacredart #nomeart https://www.instagram.com/p/CbPP2DKtT4H/?utm_medium=tumblr
Healing Herbs- I love this piece so much, a dedication to balance and harmony, and another image created with the energies of equinox … When the world seems to be crashing down about me this reminds me to breathe. To see everything in balance, everything with a place, a time… even amongst the drama and chaos of life death and rebirth. As in nature, we must combine disparate parts to create a healthy, harmonious whole. In the chaos and noise… Be still! Listen to the earth find balance and heal. #equinox #balanceandharmony #pagan #paganart #sacredart #healingart #nomeart https://www.instagram.com/p/CbLlKvQNyBJ/?utm_medium=tumblr
I have been absent for the last few days as I have been trying to process the emotions and energies stirred up from recents events. When every horror and worry of my cold war childhood have come to the fore once again. With the tumultuous energies of war and deep sorrow of the people swirling around me I finished a piece I have been struggling with for some time, and finally had a very real reason to be birthed. As an artist this is my way of recording and reflecting the life and times I live in. #StandWithUkrain
Branwen - Love and Sacrifice Branwen sits under Alder, the warrior tree, the spirit of her giant brother Bran stands behind her, forever guarding and protecting. I have shown her at the end of her story as the goddess of love and sovereignty. In the distance a fire burns at the stones of Bedd Branwen (Branwen’s Grave, found on the isle of Anglesey), white ravens call their lament as starlings flit around her, singing of the suffering of innocents, battles fought and the courage of fallen heroes. As she leans against the shield of the tribes she offers her heart and her life, in honour of the warriors and defenders who died to protect their children, mothers, elders and their land. I struggled with the story of this goddess who suffered so much harm and malice, who experienced the death of a child by the hand of a violent man. But now I have come to an understanding about love, to feel absolute and unconditional love, you need to empathise completely with others. To be a sovereign goddess, a goddess who nourishes her land and it’s people she must not only know of love but also sacrifice… and that sometimes they are one in the same. This piece was finished as Russia invaded Ukraine February 2022 and is dedicated to the resistance fighters of Ukraine, my heart and the heart of the goddess is with you. #standwithukraine #branwen #celticgoddess #pagan #paganart #nomeart https://www.instagram.com/p/Caj17UyLhdQ/?utm_medium=tumblr
Macha – Sovereign, battle queen! She demands we fight against injustice, to defend ourselves against adversity, with integrity and noble courage. She calls for determination, grit to stand firm by our convictions. She is sovereign, Queen of the tribes and I call on the magick of Macha to stand in solidarity with the people of Ukraine! #macha #themorrigan #warinukraine #paganism #paganart #sacredart #nomeart https://www.instagram.com/p/CaWmxn6rvuk/?utm_medium=tumblr
So some good news! I wasn’t sure I would be able to announce this yet as it’s been a bit of a nightmare trying to get stock, but the next batch of decks have arrived and the new company providing the bags has pulled through for us too! So if you have been waiting for the cards I will be uploading them with a whole lot of new art this Imbolc. Please join the emailing list on my website if you would like to know as soon as they are available. #oldwaysmagickoracle #oracledeck #indieoracledeck #pagan #paganart #sacredart #nomeart https://www.instagram.com/p/CZSJcQ7LZ99/?utm_medium=tumblr
So it’s new year’s day on the Gregorian calendar and the cards perfectly reflect my inner intuition for the year ahead. Endurance and knowledge to help me understand what is the wisest path to take. Wishing everyone a Happy New Year #oldwaysmagickoracle #oracledeck #pagan #paganart #paganartist #sacredart #nomeart https://www.instagram.com/p/CYLsQh5rfZC/?utm_medium=tumblr
On the eve of the autumn equinox I am taking down the ‘Birthing Shaman’ altar scroll from my altar space. The growing season has come to the end, the harvest is in and the hearth fires are being lit. The wheel turns and it’s time to change focus. So I will be taking her to the Wytche’s Market in Glastonbury this weekend and see if there is anyone wishing to become her next custodian, along with some other special pieces including one of my favourites ‘Sacrifice at Mona’. Hope to see some friendly faces this Saturday #wallscrolls #altarscrolls #paganart #sacredart #goddessart #nomeart https://www.instagram.com/p/CUIOhTbNvsq/?utm_medium=tumblr
Blessed full moon to all! This will be the last full moon I will have the Birthing Shaman at my altar, after Mabon I will be fully honouring the dark queen to Samhain. I added my Rowan thread to my altar for this full moon, honouring the bounty of the growing season, an offering in hopes of a kind winter season ahead. From now till the equinox I will be seeking balance and harmony in all things. #fullmoon #altar #altarspace #oldwaysmagickoracle #sacredspace #paganism #paganart #sacredart #nomeart https://www.instagram.com/p/CUEzACsrH1R/?utm_medium=tumblr
This last week has been challenging and I have felt strung tight and at discord with the world around me, the world experienced through a filter of mild foreboding and low level anxiety. Today I really took time to ground and reset my practice again and the cards revealed the path ahead. From now on to Samhain I intend to complete a sacred journey with the Morrigan raven queen #dailymeditation #sacredjourney #oldwaysmagickoracle #pagan #paganart #sacredart #goddessart #nomeart https://www.instagram.com/p/CTXtk-BrCTg/?utm_medium=tumblr
He is finally inked in! ‘The Sacred Masculine’ is brother image to ‘The Birthing Shaman’ and is part of my Litha Priestess painting as well. He is my way of creating a positive portrayal of masculinity, an image dedicated to man as custodian of life and nature. In opposition to the toxic masculinity pervading our culture. Cernunnos the horned god as land custodian, protector, provider and in harmony with nature. A keeper of life not dealer in destruction. #workinprogress #cernunnos #thehornedgod #pagan #paganart #sacredart #nomeart https://www.instagram.com/p/CS2YQU9rVl9/?utm_medium=tumblr
Beltane is upon us and this year most of us are going to spend it inside… A nice way to celebrate this special day is to bake. I filmed this recipe for you, I hope you will like it!
Beltane Oats and Honey Scones
These rustic scones are quick and easy to bake. The use of plain flour and oats makes them raise less. They are amazing eaten straight outside of the oven with some jam and clotted cream (or butter!) Beltane is the celebration of the coming of Summer and a celebration of fertility. Days are warmer and longer, plants are growing, and the soil is fertile. Unfortunately, most of us will spend Beltane indoor this year and I thought I would publish the recipe I’ll do to celebrate this day.
Even if you are not celebrating Beltane, these scone are delicious! Let me know what you thought of this recipe!
Ingredients
80g Self-raising Flour
80g Wholemeal Flour
20g Oats
Pinch of Salt
2 tbsp Sugar
75g Butter
60mL Whole Milk
2 tbsp Clear Honey
Recipe
Preheat the oven 170ºC / 340ºF, grease a baking sheet
Mix flours, sugar and salt in a bowl
Using your finger tips, rub in the butter until the texture is crumbly
Warm the milk and the honey together. Stir until the honey has completely dissolve
Add the warm milk to the flour mixture and mix to make a soft dough. If it is too moist, add a bit more flour.
Divide the dough in two ball. Roll each of them in a flat round about 2 cm thick
Cut the flat rounds in 4 quarters each
Bake for 15min, until pale golden and springy to the touch
Keep in an air tight container for a couple of days
