LIVE

From my altar to yours, have a wonderful autumnal equinox.

Halloween’s origin is ancient and astronomical. Since the fifth century BC, Halloween has actually been celebrated as a cross-quarter day, a day halfway between an equinox (equal day / equal night) and a solstice (minimum day / maximum night in the northern hemisphere). With a modern calendar however, even though Halloween occurs next week, the real cross-quarter day will occur the week after. Another cross-quarter day is Groundhog Day!

Halloween’s modern celebration retains historic roots in dressing to scare away the spirits of the dead. Perhaps a fitting tribute is this view of the Ghost Head Nebula (NGC 2080) taken with the Hubble Space Telescope. Similar to the icon of a fictional ghost, it is actually a star forming region in the Large Magellanic Cloud, a satellite galaxy of the Milky Way Galaxy. The nebula spans about 50 light-years and is shown in representative colors.

I didn’t catch it on camera, but just before I snapped the first picture she had a lovely moment where she “kissed” my onyx raven, which is something I do when I’m asking for Marzanna’s help and guidance. Very sweet–I hope Marzanna helps her with what she needs!

Hey everyone!

I know I haven’t done anything for months, but what with work, house problems, and having to protest shit AGAIN, I’m having a hard time even eating sensible meals.

Have a wonderful Spring Equinox, and hopefully we can all see a better season soon. In many ways.

Spring

All of us, lost leaves,

are carried unceasingly

into the future

In Spanish:

Somos llevados

de manera incesante

hacia el futuro

Tomorrow is the Spring equinox, the days have been becoming longer and longer and Winter is ended. I see, and I love, the smooth and accurate mechanichs of nature and the continuous cycles of life. We ride a wave ruled by PI dancing on sine and cosine… eternal, undefined ad infinitum, restricted to a small interval of unlimited values.

What was will be, and Future is just a reflection of the Past.

I see poetry in Math, don’t you?
