Vimes confronts Wonse about summoning the Dragon. To his surprise, Wonse responds by summoning the palace guards. To Wonse’s surprise the guards our hesitant about seizing Vimes… Afte all, there’s only one of him.I wasn’t sure what to do with this image since it was mostly just a group of people standing there. Though, I was happy with how Vimes’s smile turned out.

“I don’t care!“ He shouted, his voice echoing from wall-to-wall in the silence., We defy you! If you kill me, you might as well kill all of us!“

A brave man stands up to the dragon and says “We defy you!” as he refuses to have his daughter sacrificed.

This is my other favorite scene in the book. Even though it’s only a moment, as he is abandoned by his neighbors and flamed, it is one of the best moments of bravery in literature.

Carrot gets a treat to share with his colleagues from his mother, Dwarf Bread!

And so begins one of the greatest running gags in all of Discworld.

It’s fun contrasting Carrot’s excitement with the other’s horror.
