The Aim
I wanted to have written about five reports by the end of the year, whether on books, films or articles (I’ve focused on books though). I’m doing this for a few reasons; I know I don’t get much reading done and as someone who wants to go into journalism/writing, I feel it’s important for me to read as many books as I can. Also, if I ever do a book study in the future I can look back at these short responses and get an idea of what the book was about. I want to keep my music up and possibly write another song - but I have been focused on writing for this semester so I wasn’t sure if I could do this as well.
The Product
OK, last semester I used Home (James’ Song) for my audition song for Volume and after getting in we performed at The Vic Theatre in Devonport which had an amazing turn out and was a great experience! c: This semester I’ve been working on the literature side of my future. I’d like to be able to work either as a music teacher, or a music journalist, so to me, my English is important. That’s why this semester I am reading the ‘classics’ and writing reports on them. I’ve currently done four reports and I’m on Chapter 3 of Wuthering Heights, which I may add is difficult to get into, but I am determined! By the end of the year to have at least two more reports done. I have actually reached my Aim of writing another song as well, I have no name for it, but I feel like it’s a good one. Similar to Home, I wrote this about an event that happened when I went to England in the holidays.
Description
My URL 'writing-with-the-worms’ has had a few questions about it; I chose this because of the phrase 'bookworm’ - because I’m writing about books, I guess it seems like I am writing about books many people have read. Well, I am!
Each report is as concise as I can make it, this is because I know if, in the future, I write for a newspaper/magazine, my entries will have to be packed with information, but small enough to fit in amongst all of the other entries. I’ve also just found a pile of 'classics’ at home which I would like to read perhaps by around Christmas.
The song I’ve written is about me getting to see my best friend again, for the first time in about two years. Her face was priceless, the saying 'drop-jaw’ was the only way to describe her reaction! That’s where I came up with the line “I’ve never seen 1200 miles of smiles like that before”; she was simply gob smacked. It was great (:
I bought these boots in black a couple months ago and wore them so much that I ordered them in camel last week. (Sadly, they are now out of stock in black.) I love them both so much! I ordered the black in a 7.5 and they were a little snug, so I ordered the camel ones in a size 8. I can wear both comfortably but I recommend going a half size up if you aren’t sure which size would be best for you.
Right now, these boots are $42.50. WAY TOO EXPENSIVE. Even though they look exactly like Timberlands and are less than ¼ of the price, you can get them for cheaper. Charlotte Russe is an amazing website that has daily deals, which if used properly can cut your prices in half. I bought the black boots on clearance for only $22.50 and I bought the camel ones for $25 with free shipping. I recommend signing up at Charlotte Russe as a member so that you’ll receive email updates of their daily deals. This way you’ll be able to get these knockoff Timberlands for a steal like I did.
