When I popped into the Pick Me Up exhibition recently, I spotted this piece in the Peckham Print Studio display by Dominic Kesterton who has appeared on this blog a number of times.

It’s great to see his work developing and evolving since the first time I encountered him a couple of years ago. Check out more of his work at dominickesterton.com.

Coming soon! Pacha, Llaqta, Wasichay: Indigenous Space, Modern Architecture, New Art investigates co

Coming soon! Pacha, Llaqta, Wasichay: Indigenous Space, Modern Architecture, New Art investigates contemporary art practices that preserve and foreground Indigenous American notions of the built environment and natural world. The three words in the exhibition’s title are Quechua, the Indigenous language most spoken in the Americas. Each holds more than one meaning: pacha denotes universe, time, space, nature, or world; llaqta signifies place, country, community, or town; and wasichay means to build or to construct a house. My t-shirt design for @mysterium this year!

Voltaic was my favorite Age as a kid playing Myst III: Exile (in that it was full of southwestern rock formations, I am nothing if not predictable) so this was super fun to revisit :D

Been sitting on this one for a while: Fifty-Nine Parks just announced my fourth poster in their series, Horseshoe Bend at Glen Canyon! Who am I to ever say no to drawing some sheer cliffs of Navajo Sandstone, honestly. Definitely one of my top five sedimentary rock formations.

Seven color screen print, 18x24”, available now in their shop! I’ll comment with a link so this doesn’t get buried by the tumblr search gods

OH GOD I ALMOST FORGOT I have a Katamari Damacy poster for Mondo that drops tomorrow morning, at 11AOH GOD I ALMOST FORGOT I have a Katamari Damacy poster for Mondo that drops tomorrow morning, at 11A

OH GOD I ALMOST FORGOT I have a Katamari Damacy poster for Mondo that drops tomorrow morning, at 11AM Central!  It’s screen-printed, 18"x24", edition of 225. My spiel from the site:

“Having played a lot of Katamari Damacy back in college, I wanted to do a piece that paid tribute to the game’s specific brand of weirdness. I sketched out a number of thumbnails, but everyone immediately gravitated towards the trompe l’oeil effect of the Prince rolling up his own poster.

Since the game diligently catalogues every item you roll up, I wanted to make sure everything I drew into the Katamari was something directly out of the game: the merman, the dog with fleas, the inexplicably still-lit campfire. I did a quick 3D mockup in Maya with a bunch of cubes just to get a rough layout for the sphere, and then went to work replaying the game on my Switch and filling in as many specific objects as was humanly possible.”

New project I made with Kaori!

“Spirit chimeras” silkscreen print on a natural dyed cotton, an exhibition piece in collaboration with Kaori Pie for Grafische werkplaats, the Hague.

We are all different yet we share some similarities. We try to fit into certain groups but tend to differ from others. We try to place our differences and similarities into categories like ethnicity, upbringing, race or gender. To emphasise how different and yet how similar we all are, we created a universe of chimeras that all share certain body parts or patterns as well as have their own unique parts. They exist together and seem wildly different while still sharing something with one another.

We are moving towards a society that is mixing influences and more and more, cultures are being intertwined and translated into other expressions. As we are reborn into new lives with different societal and cultural constructs, we can’t help but be influenced or inspired by what we see in other people from around the wold. Passion and the spirit in the human mind find these connections that draw us to each other to learn and to feel engaged in a broader mission than to find reasons to divide us into our differences.

Here is the world where our creatures live, with their powers both shared as well as expressed in a different way.

Reasons to Zine

- Art and poetry from a pretty bad-ass band of alt-types.  This should of been put up before their zine-fair in Deptford this last weekend; if you’ve got a time-machine you should maybe check it out, but if you’ve got a time-machine da fuq are you on tumblr for?

Reasons to drZink
- Numbing agent
- Forgetting agent
- Social lubrication
- A defense for when you’re reminded of all those failed chat-up lines and karaoke-embarassments.

How this Zine makes me fZeel
Boring-obvious answer
Like drinking

Honest answer
Like drinking too much and vomiting on a council building

Rating out of drinks to drink
Methanol
