1929 proposal for "#skyscraper bridges" that house luxury apartments for residents. The bridges would lead to broad boulevards that would be surrounded by clusters of skyscrapers at major intersections, spaced at half-mile intervals. The proposal was designed by #RockefellarCenter architect #RaymondHood. (at Lower Manhattan)

The Twin 21 towers in Osaka’s 大阪 Chuo ward 中央区 are not especially big (157m) or fancy, but you can enter the center building between the Panasonic and MID tower and enjoy some fancy architecture. From the inside, you can see the famous castle of Osaka 大阪城 . The castle itself has a lively history from the Tokugawa period 徳川時代 until the beginning of the Meiji period. 明治時代 and underwent several modifications and enlargments. During World War II, the castle had been severly damaged. Reconstruction of the main tower was not finished until 1997 and today you can visit a modern concrete reconstruction which houses quite an interesting museum.

On the other side of Osaka castle park 大阪城公園 you can enter the brilliant history museum 大阪歴史博物館 which takes you back in time with a collection of fine pieces and a reconstruction of a part of pre-war Osaka. Most explanations are in Japanese with very few english translations, but there is a lot to see and experience, even if you don’t know Japanese. Additionally, you can make one of Osaka’s most famous shots of the castle from the upper floors of the building, with the skyscraper district of Chuo ward (and the Twin 21…) in the background. Very iconic, and most likely a part of every travel guide to highlight the “tradition and modernity” contrast. However, please remember that Osaka castle’s reconstruction is not even 20 years old…
