Lockdown started today in Germany so there’s even less chance of changes in the near future. Video calls are all nice (and definitely the main thing keeping me sane) but I can’t wait for concerts and meetups to be safe again. A lot of days I just feel like crying and with my birthday only about a month away it’s like a whole year being stolen from my life
There’s still a lot of super nice things that happened in 2020 but it’s hard not to be overwhelmed by anxiety right now…

Sorry for being down, it’s raining, I have a lot of work before Christmas and needed to vent a bit. I hope you are all feeling well in these trying times ❤️

How I miss our steampunk events! Facebook reminded me of this photo taken by Helmut Kloubert at the “Nikolausfahrt” with the Ruhrtal Bahn. The trip with the historical steam train is kind of a tradition of our local steampunk community and always great fun! I’m looking forward to next year when we’ll hopefully ride that train again or at least have a meet-up at @eisenbahnmuseum.bo

This is our Christmas “tree” this year Inspired by @zeldrath_cosplay I spontaneously dragged my dress form into our living room and put as many ornaments in as possible
I admit that I’m too lazy for a real tree because I don’t want to worry about disposal, but I also don’t want a fake one because of storage and the fact that it can’t be recycled. So this is the perfect solution!

It’s done! My 2020 project ❤️
Okay I admit, the hat is still missing and I want to add some boning to the jacket. I might do another petticoat and a proper corset (right now I’m wearing bra+ underbust
BUT it is wearable and it’s the thing that took the most time to finish. Normally I rush things because I want something new for an upcoming event. This time I just wanted to do a bustle dress. (And I have no clue where to wear it ) I did a lot of handsewing and tried to make sure that there are no visible machine seams on the outside.
Historical accuracy was not my goal, but I had 1880s in mind as inspiration and if I can trust my limited knowledge I’d say it’s at least historical adequate Opinions?

Today was my last day at the office for this year! Only four more working days in home office, can you believe that? I still have vacation days left because I didn’t really needed them this year (no events, no concerts, nowhere to go ).
We’re still in this weird kind-of-but-not-really lockdown situation in Germany where you can’t do something other then go shopping. I seriously miss museums and hope they can open in January. Also I really want to do photoshoots again! Maybe even with snow?

Parts of Germany reported the first snow! (Naturally all we get here is grey and cold rain )
I just hop to get some snow, preferably when it’s okay to meet with photographers again. And even then, you have to be quick to catch it

WiP of my bustle dress gown. Made a mock-up of the bustle/apron and I think it’s too long. It’s Truly Victorians 365. I have to admit that I absolutely don’t understand the instructions for the plaket, I just use my own
For the final version, I’ll use the same blue/grey fabric I used at the jacket and maybe I’ll add some more of the lace I got from @finefrenchlaces (see last picture). I will shorten it in the front and back a bit to have more freedom when walking and to allow the underskirt to flounce a bit more

For now, I’m glad the skirt with all the pleats is finished.

The last days have been quite productive with a lot of work ❤️ finally! I’m waiting for my calendar to arrive, working on the gifts for everybody who pre-ordered, sewing a bit in-between and of course the whole “normal” work in two jobs on top. BUT at this point I feel quite good about it

I decided to ignore the fact that the photo is blurry because I love the pose and dynamic so much ❤️ I just hope that most smartphone displays are too small anyway to really see it

Out of camera ❤️ at least the portraits came out sharp, unfortunately a lot of my full body pictures came out blurry
But at least I got to take photos in the first snow we had this winter.
I might have confused a few wanderers and at least one dog (a big a** boxer) was super scared of me (I guess it might have been the hat).
I worked with my camera, tripod and the app on my phone to do the shoot alone. Next time I need to check the photos in-between more often… Lesson learned!

I always wait for the very last day to post my #TopNine and I keep the ones from the last year’s to compare them
Not to look at the numbers but to see, what I’ve done
This year has been slower on posts in general because I only had two photoshoots at the beginning of the year and a handful of events.
Three of my most liked are throw back photos from previous years but I’m super happy that one of my self-shot pictures made it, too. Because 2020 definitely is the year of home photo shoots
