What a crazy year! Here are my top posts — good art memories, with my Covid-mask selfie right in the centre! — includes some installation art, my TV appearance on ‘Canada’s Landscape Painter’ and a watercolour from the summer canoe trip!

My personal #topnine for 2020. Technically one of these images is a sneak peek, because it’s in progress right now, but I included it because 2020 was the year that I could finally draw Rook’s face without having to arm wrestle it out of the canvas
I always love to do this because it gives me a chance to look back at the work I’ve done through the year and see all the improvements I’ve made. 2020 has been a journey, to say the least. Coupled with the global pandemic which brought immense emotional and mental stresses and changes at my job as a frontline caregiver, and all the political unrest and outrage, this year has also been one of the most transformative for me personally as well. As I’ve looked back at all the things we have gone through as a people, and for me personally, something that I have realized is how the combination of all this really crazy stuff helped me remember what really matters, and that I needed to refocus my attention away from things that really had no value in the long run. 2020 in the end has been a really important year in my life, I feel like I have grown so much, spiritually, emotionally, and artistically, and I think that based on some of the other posts I’ve read, I am not the only person who feels this way. 2020 was rollercoaster of chaos, but I feel like it united us in a way that was maybe being overlooked before. I was able to do a lot of things that I never thought I could do before in 2020, I did a lot of things I never thought I would have to do, and I am grateful for the “refining fire” if you will, that has been 2020. So here’s to 2021, which will be full of its challenges too, and here’s to all of us who emerged victorious through the furnace of 2020, renewed and refocused. Thank you to all of you for words of encouragement and gratitude, for making an effort to make this globe a better, more unified, and gentle place to live. #thankyou2020

I always wait for the very last day to post my #TopNine and I keep the ones from the last year’s to compare them
Not to look at the numbers but to see, what I’ve done
This year has been slower on posts in general because I only had two photoshoots at the beginning of the year and a handful of events.
Three of my most liked are throw back photos from previous years but I’m super happy that one of my self-shot pictures made it, too. Because 2020 definitely is the year of home photo shoots

This year, thanks to many of you, I published a book . I was interviewed on 3 podcasts (links in bio); I became a grandparent . And during my first trip to Kentucky I got close to my first tornado! ️ I returned to Seattle where a ton of snow fell ☃️ & we had the coldest day in 31 years.❄️
In 2021 there were simple pleasures like seeing friends for lunch, meeting new ones, & taking a break from social media. It was weird how good it felt to step away from Twitter, IG & more. It made me think how much more productive I was before the iPhone.
It was wonderful to see @queenhorsfall & our oldest son after a 2-year gap. Meeting our new twin granddaughters—2 tiny, adorable & entertaining people, was joyful. Our son & daughter-in-law are amazing parents. I don’t think I could’ve managed 2 babies at once.
In King County where Seattle is located, 96% of people aged 16 & older have been vaccinated, so life was feeling pretty “normal” here. A few friends of friends got mild cases of covid, but mostly, coronavirus hasn’t been top of mind until very recently.
Omicron chipped away at the confidence of companies, attendees & exhibitors, & I canceled my trip to CES (Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas ) as a social media influencer. #CES2022 ️ IRL is no longer an option for me, so I’ll attend virtually.
What was the best or worst about 2021 for you? What do you look forward to in 2022?

Time for the yearly top nine round up. So apparently this is what you folks liked the most! There’s two of me in here so that’s kinda flattering Mostly older or unfinished art though. It lines up pretty well with how this year has gone for me tbh. It was a year that annihilated my motivation, forced me to go back to therapy, and took friends and family members through covid. It’s still dealing blows to my family this week right at the end of the year! Bottom line, 2020 has been a hell of a struggle. But on the plus side, it helped me appreciate the importance of connecting and disconnecting, with friends and the internet respectively. It was the year I really discovered who I am and what I want, and the confidence in myself that follows I put myself in situations I’d never been in and made some awesome friends/acquaintances along the way. And most amazingly of all, didn’t lose any friends once they really knew what had been going on inside my head. 2020 has really proven to me that I’m blessed with genuinely good, patient people in my life so I’m not gonna apologise for lack of new content this year, some things are just more important than work. Next year however, I already have a few plans we’ll see. I hope everyone reading this has a safe new year, and hopefully we can make 2021 a bit less shitty somehow and I thank you deeply for your support
