Operation: Show Us What You’re Made Of
The TFNation display area has become one of the highlights of the show for many attendees. In 2016, we showcased a complete collection of Rock Lords, the entire Beast Wars and Beast Machines lines (including the Japanese subseries for II and Neo), and various upcoming 3rd Party and Official toy releases. In 2017, we introduced the world of TFNation to Takara’s Brave series, a stunning display of figures many had not seen before.
This year we are looking to do something a little different, something perhaps more creative: we want Your toys! Not just any toy, however - we want your customised and kit-bashed figures. Whether you have simply touched up a figure by adding some extra details, part-swapped with other toys or made it yourself from scratch, we want to showcase it to the world of TFNation and beyond (through the inevitable social media interactions). Remember, this isn’t a competition, it’s a display.
You will find a new Custom Figure Application Form by going to https://tfnation.com/2018/custom-figure-display, asking you to let us know that you are interested, as well we telling us more about the item(s). Figures will be displayed in a locked glass cabinet for the duration of the event. Applications are open to both weekend and single day attendees. Space is limited by the physical cabinets, but we want to create the largest showcase of customised Transformers figures that the world has seen.
The figures could be new ones you are working on, past entries to competitions at other shows, or those you created years ago. We want to encourage creativity in the fandom, so it doesn’t matter if you are a regular kitbasher or not. There are no winners or losers, just a shared appreciation for your creativity. And depending on the interest and success of the display, we may look into Custom Competitions at future events.
Head on over to TFNation.com to register your interest now!

Operation: The Funny Papers
Joining the line-up of comics guests for 2018, TFNation is pleased to announce the presence of another UK based artist – well known to fans of the original Marvel UK Transformers comics series – Lew Stringer!
Famous predominantly for his humour work, he was a stable component of the Marvel UK Transformers issues, providing a light-hearted relief to the stories in the form of two featured strips: Robo-CapersandCombat Colin (initially in the pages of Action Force, the UK incarnation of G.I. Joe, then replacing Robo-CapersinTransformers).
His very first venture onto the comics stage was Brickman, which ran from the 1970s up until 2009 in various forms. Stringer is well known in the UK for his work as an independent comics creator, but also for his work appearing in the pages of The Beano andThe Dandy weekly kids’ comic magazines, alongside other licensed magazines such as Spider-Man, Epic, Lego Adventures and more. Internationally, his work has appeared in the likes of ElephantmenandGrindhouse in the US market, Herman Hedning in Sweden, and Nemi in Norway.
Thanks to his comics work as a creator, Stringer is well-versed in the history of the British comics industry and scene, and regularly offers insights, analyses, and discussions of current and past trends on his blog, Blimey! It’s Another Blog about Comics!
Lew Stringer will be attending TFNation 2018 all weekend, talking capers, silly jokes, and sketching for fans of his work, as well as discussing comics history in general!

Operation: Damn, He’s Good
TFNation is proud to present another voice acting guest for the 2018 edition, and we roll over to the live-action movie universe and the media that spun out of the Paramount series. Join us in giving a warm welcome to voice actor André Sogliuzzo!
Lending his talents to the character of Sideswipe in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Sogliuzzo has also been behind the scenes for the well-received video game Transformers: Devastation, portraying the likes of Scavenger, Thundercracker, and one of the unnamed Seekers found in the game. Most recently, he has featured in the animated series Robots in Disguise, as the voice of Scavenger Clawtrap.
You may also recognise him from a number of other video game franchises, such as Skyrim, Everquest II, and Scarface: The World is Yours. For fans and followers of animated series and cartoons, you will have found Sogliuzzo in G.I. Joe: Renegades (as Major Bludd), Avatar: The Last Airbender (as Hakoda and King Bumi), Courage the Cowardly Dog, the Stuart Little TV series, and will soon be heard in the upcoming Spyro ReignitedTrilogy.
He has also been a regular actor for the Star Wars franchise, appearing as various characters in the Knights of the Old Republic games, and as Commander Cody (and others) in the version of the Star Wars: Clone Wars series directed by Genndy Tartakovsky, plus a number of voices in the recently concluded Star Wars: Rebels.
André Sogliuzzo will be present for all of the TFNation 2018 weekend, signing autographs, available for photo opportunities, and ready to meet fans of Transformers, voice acting, his work, and the franchises he’s been a part of!

Operation: The Art Bringer
Another returning guest to the 2018 edition of TFNation is the fan-beloved artist from the big cold white North, Alex Milne!
Milne has been working as a creator for Transformers since the days of Devil’s Due Press’ GI Joe vs the Transformers, various collaborations with Fun Publications and eventually moving to regular, serialised work with Dreamwave and IDW Publishing. As the regular co-creator on Transformer: More Than Meets the Eye, Milne has rendered hearts and tears in painstaking detail, bringing some of the more expressive robot faceplates to the pages of comics.
Alongside and after MTMTE, Milne has provided covers for a range of IDW Publishing comics, Transformers and elsewhere, as well as providing interior art for an issue of Transformers: Lost Light. His most recent collaboration saw him partner once more with writer John Barber (and Christos Gage) on the prequel mini-series Rom vs The Transformers: Shining Armor - but the perhaps bigger news is his presence as artist for the upcoming Unicron: Darkest Hour #0 Free Comic Book Day issue due in May 2018.
Alex Milne will be signing autographs, selling artwork, and attempting to complete commissions at TFNation 2018, as he is always in extremely high demand.

Operation: Putting the U in Colourist
With the new year in full swing, the TFNation team is happy to announce another returning guest to our ever-expanding roster: comics colourist and writer John-Paul Bove!
Known to many as JP, he is currently recolouring classic Marvel UK stories for Hachette’s Transformers: The Definitive Generation One Collection, and has been the main colour artist for IDW Publishing’s Transformers: ReGeneration One – the continuation of the original Marvel US series – plus the Drift: Empire of Stone mini-series, several BotCon / FunPub comics, and an entire collection of cover work with several artists in the Transformers world for IDW. Outside of Transformers, his visual work can be found on titles such as G.I. Joe, Dr Who, Action Man, and Judge Dredd, while his writing includes the BotCon 2016 ‘Dawn of the Predacus’ comic, Panini’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and creator-owned horror one-shot UnEarth.
JP will be attending all weekend, and offering his skills and services to fans - if you’re picking up an art commission at TFNation, make sure to book him early and get it coloured at the event!

Operation: Mike of Iron
A new guest joining us for TFNation 2018, but by no means a newcomer to the Transformers scene is artist Mike Collins! Mike was the hands behind the Man of Iron (1985/87), the first story in the Marvel comics originating in the UK, and several more, eventually also co-writing Crisis of Command! (1985-86), which introduced the recurring self-doubting character trait in Optimus Prime.Despite leaving the comics by the end of 1985, he didn’t leave Transformers entirely behind: along with Mike Farmer, he illustrated the first four Ladybird Transformers books, which became the gateway to Transformers fiction for a number of children at the time.
Mike continued to contribute to other comics, though moving into Action Force, the European precursor to G.I. Joe, which also included recent returner and fan-favourite Action Man. Mike later made his way to 2000AD, Marvel and DC, and his art can be found in the pages of Flash,Teen Titans, and The Uncanny X-Men – where he first introduced the questionable but charming character of Gambit. He has also worked on the likes of Star Trek,Wonder Woman, several 2000AD titles, and as of 2005, returning to UK material with Doctor Who Magazine, and the two Doctor Who original Graphic Novels published by the BBC.
A name you might also know from outside of comics, Mike has provided storyboards for TV and films including Doctor Who,Horrid Henry, and Sherlock.
Mike will be present at TFNation 2018 all weekend, signing autographs, talking fandom, and probably willing to sketch some art for attendees

These last few days have been a whirlwind for our attendees and crew alike, so we wanted to drop you some updates which you may find useful.
TICKETS
Tickets for the event are officially on sale at the following link. Please click through for prices, terms and conditions.
HILTON CONVENTION RATE BEDROOMS
Hilton bedrooms have sold incredibly quickly, though at the time of writing, there are still some rooms left at the convention rate. As ever, if you cannot find the full stay you are looking for, our advice is to narrow your search to key dates first. This will give you the best chance of securing a room at the Hilton itself.
Historically, we tend to see quite a few cancellations in the first fortnight after rooms go on sale. This happens when friends book a twin room each, realise they have both been successful and then cancel the room they no longer need.
This means that if you keep checking back to the Hilton link found in your confirmation email, you may have a good chance of securing some nights at the Hilton, as rooms free up. It is always worth checking this before making alternative plans.
ALTERNATIVE HILTON ROOMS AND HILTON HONORS
The Hilton retains some rooms at public rates. Whilst you will have to pay a little extra for them, these are a good option to complete your stay if the convention rate night you need is not available.
Another great option is to join Hilton Honors. This membership club is free to join, and often gives you access to exclusive discounted rates at various points in the year. And the more stays you make, the more HHonors points you will earn, to put towards future stays!
Click through to find out more
ALTERNATIVE ACCOMMODATION
If you find the Hilton is completely sold out, don’t worry. We have a handy list of nearby alternatives for you. Whilst we would always recommend the Hilton as your first choice destination, these links could help you in a pinch.
WEBSITE BOOKING PROCESS
As a final point, we are aware that some people’s booking experience was not as smooth as they had hoped for this year. Though our website stayed operational throughout, and was able to cater for many hundreds of attendees, there was a period in the first 45 minutes or so where speeds dipped due to exceptional demand.
To put this into perspective, last year our servers only ever operated at 30% of their total capacity, in spite of us putting on our largest show to date. This week, our servers (and the additional servers we put in place) saw periods where they were working at over 90% capacity. The demand truly was unprecedented. As a result the system held, but operated slowly. This is why people had different experiences.
FEEDBACK SURVEY
We want to compile as much data as possible about both our website, and your accommodation needs during the event. With this in mind, we are working on a feedback survey which will be presented in the near future. It would be much appreciated if you would please take the time to complete the survey, as all information received will help us to plan for the future.
