Part Two - Just Like Starting Over

The following morning you make your way to the kitchen again. You’d rather avoid it but considering you haven’t eaten anything for almost 24 hours you have no choice but to go. You smile softly as you hear the familiar sound of a voice you’ve missed. Turning into the room, you see Tony poking Bruce in the ribs and regarding him playfully, Natasha rolling her eyes a the pair and laughing. Thor shovling a spoonful of eggs in his mouth, but it’s Steve who notices you first and  looks at you with slight concern in his eyes.

Wanda’s face lights up at the site of you “Y/N…Hey.” You smile warmly at the woman, one of the few people who understands what it’s like, to an extent, to share powers similar to yours. Tony and the others look up at you then, Steve standing up and Thor following suit.

Natasha smirks and Wanda raises her eyebrows at the same time as Tony, looking between the two men. You feel your cheeks flush with colour.

“Uh…Hi.” You walk further into the room, and make your way to the coffee pot. It’s Tony who speaks next as you pour yourself a drink.

“Y/N…Have you met Capsicle yet?” Thor’s laugh rolls across the room as you turn and see Steve scowling at Tony. You rest your butt against the counter, thankful that you’re at least covered up today. The feeling and memory of Steve’s eyes as they moved over your body, causing to you blush more.

“Yes, actually…We met last night.” You take your coffee and move over to the table, sitting in between Wanda and Thor. Thor sits down as you do, Steve following a second later. Tony’s tone is playful his eyebrow raised.

“Uh huh…And?” Your midway to bringing your cup to your mouth and frown.

“And what? I met him last night, that’s it. That’s the story.” Wanda stands then and puts a hand on your arm.

“Let me get you some eggs.” You smile at Wanda and Thor leans forward in his chair, crossing his arms and bringing his elbows to rest on the table in front of him.

“It is nice to see you Y/N.” You smirk and take a sip of your coffee.

“You saw me yesterday.” Something flashes over Thor’s face but his smile quickly replaces it.

“I know, but it is still nice to see you.” You smile at him as Wanda brings over your eggs and sits down next to you.

“Thank you, I didn’t know I could be this hungry.” The woman tilts her head.

“You’re not eating?” Before you can answer Steve leans forward.

“She didn’t eat her sandwich last night. And I offered to make her new one.” Nat settles back in her chair, crossing her arms and smiling playfully.

“Ok, I need to hear this.” Even Tony and Bruce stop and look over.

“Great, everyone’s staring at me. Thanks Steve!” You sigh and reach for your fork, Steve opening his mouth in protest but he stops when your eyes meet his. “I came to make some food and had my music on. Steve walked in, made me jump and I lost my sandwich.”

“I did offer to make you another one.” You ignore the man and take a bite of food, turning to Wanda who wraps her fingers around her own mug of coffee.

“So what are your plans for today?” Smiling at Wanda, you tilt your head.

“Actually I was going to ask if you’d do some more meditation training with me. I’ve found things a little hard to control recently.” Wanda nods her head and puts her hand on your arm.

“Of course. I’d be happy to help.” You offer her a friendly smile before turning to Nat.

“Oh also, I’m down for some sparring too.” Nat smiles at you.

“Fine by me. Thor? Steve? Want to join us?” You bristle slightly, you were kind of hoping it would just be you and Nat. You still felt uncomfortable after the emotions you felt from Steve last night, and whilst you liked Thor, you were finding yourself thinking about him more recently, and can’t be 100% sure the feelings are returned. You watch as the two men nod their head in agreement, Wanda stifling a laugh as she hears you whisper.

“Put me to sleep Wanda!”
-
You’re pleased when you get the gym and see Nat already there, the two of you talk and spend some time sparring. By the time Thor and Steve walk in, the pair of you are already flushed with thin layers of sweat on your body. You feel a rush of warmth ripple through your cheeks, as you eye the two men wearing grey joggers and tight tshirts. You’d be both blind and stupid, if you didn’t admit that they were both very attractive. Nat nudges you with her elbow and raises her eyebrow.

“Close your mouth!” You smile softly and shake your head. As she walks to the men.

“Started without us?” Steve’s voice is light and he smiles at Nat. It makes his face look different, you’ve only ever seen him looking stoic or concerned. Or like last night, overcome with emotion. You can’t help but smile along, Thor catching your eyes and smiling at you.

“Maybe you’re getting old Cap!” Nat teases back as Steve laughs, you lower your eyes to the floor blushing at the look in Thor’s eyes.

“Actually, we could do with mixing up partners. What do you say?” Nat turns to you, looking for your acceptance and you nod your head.

“I choose Y/N!” Thor’s voice booms out and Nat smirks and nods her head. “Looks like you’re with me Cap!” There’s a moment where you and Steve look over at each other and he looks as though he want’s to say something, but you turn on your heel and walk to the opposite side of the room.

“Is she going to be okay with him? She looks pretty small.” Nat looks at Steve for a second, before bringing her arm forward, he blocks it easily.

“Are you judging someone on their appearances Steve? Really?” Nat spins and connects her hand with Steve’s neck, he bounces on the balls of his feet and moves forward, ducking out of the way of one of Nat’s other punches. He smiles at her, the pair of them light on their feet, fists raised.

“No, but Thor is a God.” Nat raises her eyebrows and smirks, ducking as Steve swings for her.

“She’s stronger than she looks…Watch.” The pair lower their arms and perch on the side of the boxing ring that stands in the centre of the room. Steve has to admit it, Y/N is light on her feet, she moves gracefully and is blocking every move Thor is coming at her with.

“You’re not going easy on me are you big guy?” You ask Thor as you duck another swing, moving behind him and kneeing the back of his legs causing him to fold and lose balance.

“I would never insult you by going easy on you tiny lady.” He moves quick and grips his arm around your neck, your back flush against his body. You move your hands up and wrap your fingers over his forehams, his breath warm against your neck. You feel him hesitate slightly and you bite your lower lip in an attempt to ignore the need that is washing through you. You grip harder on his arm and bend your body sharply, flipping the demi-god on the floor in front of you knocking the wind out of him.

Across the room Steve stands up straighter, his mouth open slightly and Nat grins at him “Told you.” He watches as Y/N looks down at Thor, slight concern on her face.“Are you ok? Do you need a hand standing up?”

Steve can hear the smile in Thor’s voice as he reaches up to grab Y/N’s hand, but instead of using it to pull himself up, he pulls Y/N down on top of him. “Give me a hug, I am proud of you!” You place your hands on either side of Thor’s head, arms straight. Stray pieces of hair caging  your face, your eyes on Thor’s as he smiles at you and wraps his arms around your waist.

“You know this isn’t how people usually hug right?” Thor’s thumb brushes against your lower back and you bite down a smile at the look on his face. He nods his head and you stand up, your hand outstretched. This time Thor takes it and allows you to help him up, despite not really needing it.

Steve feels something wash through him, as he watches you and Thor breathing deeply and keeping your eyes on each other, your hand still in his.

“Shall we swap?” Nats question snaps you from your reverie and you pull your hand from Thor’s. The two of you looking away from each other shyly. You cross the room and grab your towel.

“Actually…I’m doing some meditation training with Wanda, so I better shower and change.” You head to the door and glance back once. Nat smiling at you, Thor watching you admiringly and Steve frowning slightly.

“See you guys later.” And you walk out of the room, your mind rushing with a million questions.

-

You always feel better after your sessions with Wanda. So when you enter the main room of the compound that night, you feel lighter and even a little excited. As it was the last Saturday of the month, all of you got together and dressed up a bit, sharing food and drinks. All of you spaced out doing your own thing but still together like a family. It’s one of the things that made all the bad stuff bearable, having these people around you.

You’ve opted for fitted jeans, heeled boots and a backless top. Your hair in loose curls over one shoulder and a simple red lip. Your eyes scan the room and you see Wanda and Nat but before you cross over to them, Steve stands in your way. He looks really good in brown boots, jeans and a plaid shirt. Once again his eyes scan your body, lingering momentarily on your breasts, before he snaps his eyes up to yours. His cheeks turning pink.

“Hi Y/N. I was hoping to talk to you before but didn’t get round to it. Mind if I bend your ear for five minutes?” He smiles at you warmly as you place your hands in the back pocket of your jeans.

“Okay, sure.” He looks relieved and takes a step closer. When his eyes meet yours they look sincere.

“Last night, I wanted to apologise. I came across as rude and old fashioned. If I upset you, it certainly wasn’t my intention.” You smile softly at his words, the phrasing all very formal and  kind of sweet.

“Actually, I should apologise too. I shouldn’t have rushed out of there like that.” Steve smiles and the effect when aimed directly at you, is slightly mesmerising. “I can’t recall what I said, but I remember saying something and your face falling and then I felt all these things.” Steve frowns slightly.

“What do you mean?” You take a moment to think of how to word it and tilt your head.

“Well, part of my thing, like you with the super strength and the muscles.” Steve’s smiles amusingly here. “Is that I can pick up on peoples emotions, which can be quite useful as hard as it is…In fact if it’s strong enough, I can even pick up on feelings from something that may have happened years before. Whatever I said brought back a feeling of great sadness in you and it was kind of overwhelming for me after all that had happened that day.” You go quiet for a moment, Steve’s eyes watching you, his face empathetic.

“I’m sorry, for whatever I said that may have brought those memories back and for whatever caused those memories in the first place too.” He holds your gaze for a second before giving you a smile.

“ I appreciate your sweet words and no need to apologise. I’m sorry that I made you uncomfortable.” You laugh easing the tension slightly and shake your head.

“It’s fine…It’s just something we’ll both have to get used to if we’re going to work together.” Steve smiles and straightens up, hooking his thumb on to the belt of his jeans. Your eyes snap down quickly but soon come back to meet his.

“I’m sure we will. So? Anything else I should know about you?” You purse you lips and look like you’re thinking and close the distance between the two of you. There’s only an inch between you and you see Steve’s cheeks flush with colour as you bat your eyelashes and whisper.

“I’m not as sweet as I look.” You flash him a smile and walk away. You hear the man let out a breath, his eyes watching you, they widen slightly as he takes in the tiny symbols tattooed down your spine.

A few hours later, you’re sat around one of the tables laughing with Wanda, Nat, Sam and Thor. Thor sat beside, he knee resting against yours. Sam’s eye brows are raised as he shakes his head.

“I had no idea you were so wild Nat.” The woman smirks and playfully replies.

“Oh trust me, I have alot more stories. But it’s not my turn…” She turns to you then.

“Ok Y/N, three truths and a lie.” You’re thinking of what to stay  when Steve walks over and takes a seat.

“What are we playing?” Nat smiles at him and looks back to you

“Three truths and a lie, it’s Y/N’s turn.” Steve smiles and shuffles closer to the table.

“I know this one.” Thor leans back and rests his arm behind you, his fingertips brushing your shoulder. You give Nat a mischievous look.

“Okay….I can speak fluent French. I can play the guitar. I’ve had a sex dream about someone in this room and I have pierced nipples.” Steve chokes on his beer at the same time Thor sits forward. Wanda laughs and Nat takes a pull of her beer.

“I already know so I’m staying out of this.” Sam laughs.

“Ok, more stories I need to hear.” You laugh and shake your head and take a sip of your drink. Steve looks at you, his face red.

“Uh nipples?” You nod your head. Steve’s mouth opens and he glances at your breasts again before looking at the ceiling awkwardly.

“That’s one of the truths, well done Cap.” Thor shifts next to you and when you glance at him, he catches your eye and smiles at you. You hold his gaze for a moment before Wanda speaks.

“You can play the guitar…Very beautifully too.” You smile at your friend, a thank you in your eyes.

“Another truth.” Sam smiles at you.

image

“I had no idea, how long have you been playing?” You tilt your head in thought.

“Uh about five years.” You go to take another pull of your beer but realise your bottle is empty. You stand to grab another one, Steve looking up at you, eyes wide and shining, his lower lip pink.

“What about your other truth?” You smirk over at Nat before brushing your hand through your hair.

“I don’t speak French…I’m awful at it actually…Terrible!” You walk over to the bar and lean forward to grab another beer, you twist the cap off and take a sip. Nat and Sam breaking out into laughter.

Turning back around, you see Thor’s eyes on you and you hold his gaze, a small smile playing on your lips, your smile gets bigger as you see him stand and cross the room. Leaning his elbow on the bar next to you. The others don’t seem phased and are talking amongst themselves, but Steve can’t take his eyes off the two of them. His shackles raising slightly as he watches you lean in close and whisper something in Thor’s ear.

The golden god nods his head at your words and Steve feels the breath catch in his throat as Thor places his hand on the small of your back for a moment before you stand.

You smile at Thor as you get off the stool and walk from the room. Steve watches you, his brow furrowed slightly. A few moments later Thor stands and yawns theatrically.

“I am going to bed. Goodnight.” He strides from the room, oblivious to the look exchanged between Nat and Sam. Steve leans forward.

“Does anyone else find it strange that Thor clearly isn’t tired and has left the room moments after Y/N?” Wanda smiles and leans forward her chin resting on her hand.

“Interesting.” Steve frowns and sits back slightly.

“Are you…Are you in my mind?” Wanda looks innocent and shakes her head.

“I would never.” Nat smirks at him, eyebrow raised.

“Why does it matter Steve?” He wipes his hand against the leg of his jeans and stutters slightly.

“Well…I don’t think they’re courting and put it this way, I don’t think they’re just talking..” His cheeks flush here but he looks pleased with himself, straightening up slightly. Sam shakes his head looking over.

“You really need to get out Cap!”

-

When you get back to your room you kick off your boots and tug your jeans off, turning the lights down so it gives the room a more relaxing vibe. As you press play on your playlist you hear two sharp knocks on your door. Taking a deep breath you open the door and see Thor standing there, a smile on his face.

“Come in.” You reach forward and grip the front of his tshirt, pulling him through the door. Your eyes holding each others gaze. He kicks the door shut with his foot and reaches his hand behind him, to turn the lock in place. You jump into his arms and your lips crash against each other, Thor holding you as though you weigh nothing. You pull away from the kiss and rest your forehead against his.

“The bed.” Your lips meet his again then as Thor carries you to your bed. He places you down gently on the edge and steps back, pulling his tshirt over his head and unbuckling the belt of his jeans. You bite your lip and watch him as he kicks off his boots and pulls his jeans down his legs. You stand up and Thor brings his hands to your hips, gripping them slightly. You place your palms against his chest, the feeling of his firm body pressed against yours, sending a heat somewhere low and intimate.

image

“You are very beautiful midgardian…I am very fond of you.” You feel your cheeks flush, a flicker of a smile running across your mouth.

“Well…The feeling is mutual.” Thor moves his hands over the curve of your butt, before gripping the hem of your top and pulling it over your head. His eyes darken as they scan over your face and body and your lips find one another once more. You brush your fingers against the nape of his neck, as he lifts you and positions you both on the bed. Your hands wandering over every inch of his body, you moan into the kiss as he eases your panties down your leg. The feeling of his pleasure combining with yours.

Summary: No matter what you may say to the contrary, Thor does tend to have it coming to him.

Hypocrisy

Finally! After an entire morning’s worth of needling and squirming and pouting, you found yourself in the open corridors of Asgard’s royal palace. Being a young woman—the only daughter of Odin’s Captain of the Guard at that—meant that you typically didn’t have many options for adventure whenever your father chose to drag you up there for some “society,” and that day’s meeting had been less adventure than most. Now that you were free of his and Odin’s watchful eyes, you intended to find yourself some fun, and you knew just who to look for to find that.

“Loki!”

Or perhaps that person would find you first. The enraged voice you caused you to jump about a foot in the air in fright.

A clatter of footsteps followed this cry. Louder they grew, and louder and louder, until a boy around your own age rounded the distant corner. You recognized him at once by the mischievous grin on his face. He in turn must have recognized you, for he picked up his pace the moment he spotted you.

“Loki?” you asked, but could not question Odin’s youngest son further before he darted behind you.

“Perfect timing as always, [Name],” he said.

“Perfect timing for what?”

“Loki, I am going to kill you!” the same voice from shouted. “And then I’m going to tell Mother!”

A strange noise issued from behind you. Turning, you found Loki stifling his laughter with his own palm. His green eyes twinkled with mirth. Thor continued stomping up the hall and opening (and slamming shut) every door on the way, and that only seemed to amuse Loki all the more.

“What did you do?” you asked. Your tone smacked the smile right off his face.

“Nothing!”

“It doesn’t sound like nothing.”

“All right, nothing important. Nothing Thor should be so worked up over, anyway. It was only a prank.”

“I thought the Allfather told you to stop pulling pranks on your brother,” you said with your hands on your hips.

Loki rolled his eyes. “What does he know? Thor’s got to learn to take a joke.”

“It’s not a joke if your prank is mean.”

“No one got bit this time! What’s the problem?”

“The problem is that you’re being—”

There you are!”

Thor had found Loki at last. At least, you thought it was Thor. The red-faced boy headed right for you looked familiar, only he had bright blue hair with eyebrows to match. Your attempt at a swift greeting curtsy went ignored. Only Loki could capture Thor’s interest at the moment.

“Turn it back!” Thor shouted.

Loki didn’t flinch. “No.”

“If you don’t, I'll—”

“Make me? How? Get Sif to hold me down so you can punch me?”

Instead of thinking of a better way to finish his threat, Thor—still looking utterly ridiculous with his blue hair—lunged at his brother with a wordless cry of anger. Loki ducking behind you deterred Thor not at all. The two boys, one snarling, the other snickering, circled you. Around and around they went until you grew dizzy enough to shove the nearest person out of the endless whirlwind.

Unfortunately, that person turned out to be Thor. More unfortunately still, your shoving him was enough for you to end up at the wrong end of his wrath yourself.

“You're helping him!” Thor snapped incredulously.

“What?” You shook your head. “No, I—”

“I should have guessed you were in on this, [Name].”

“Wait. I had nothing to—”

“You're always helping him pick on me!”

“I never—”

“If that’s how you want things to be, fine. I’ll tell your dad, too. When he hears about this—”

A sudden peal of laughter from Loki interrupted Thor’s tirade. Disconcerted, Thor paused, but it didn’t take long for him to open his mouth to continue lecturing you. He took a deep breath, then found himself unable to speak over your laughter.

“What?” he demanded, looking between you and Loki as the two of you doubled over gasping for breath. “What are you laughing at? What’s so funny?”

“Maybe—maybe you should check a mirror,” Loki managed to choke out.

Thor’s eyes narrowed, but clearly his suspicions were great enough to convince him to follow Loki’s advice and leave you both unattended. It did not take long for him to find a reflective surface in the lush corridor. He took one look, then gasped. For good reason, too: Above his quivering lips now sat a magnificent mustache the exact same color as the rest of his hair.

“Mother!” Thor bawled before rushing back out of sight once more.

They were too much, his hysterics. Together you and Loki melted into a guffawing puddle right there on the palace floor. Only several minutes later did either of you recover to rise, hiccuping, into a seated position.

Loki shot you a knowing look as you wiped the tears from your eyes. “I thought you said I wasn’t to prank Thor anymore,” he said.

You sat up as straight as you could and said in your most prim of voices, “Thor has to learn to take a joke.”

This very nearly sent the two of you to the floor again. Struggling to contain himself, Loki instead hopped to his feet and offered you a hand to follow suit. You allowed him to pull you up. Each of you shot the other enormous grins at the exact same time. Then you both wordlessly raced up the hall side by side. Thor would be back soon, almost certainly with backup. Until then, there remained plenty of fun for you and your friend to go looking for.

Summary: Maybe this is your fault. All you had to do was flip a coin.

Last Chance

It had taken hours (although it felt more like days), constant reiteration of the rules, and so many practice rounds it would make a normal person’s head spin. But after all this time and effort, you knew Thor could do it.

“Ready?” you asked as you held out your fist.

Though he didn’t look as confident as usual, he reached out his own. “Ready.“

"Rock-Paper-Scissors-Lizard-Spock,” you chanted. At the end, you triumphantly thrust out a lizard.

Thor, however, continued to leave his fist in the air as he stared at your hand.

“Uh. Thor? You gonna stick with that rock there?”

“That depends,” he said slowly. “What does rock do?”

The rest of the group around you groaned. Even Natasha fell back onto the couch with her head in her hands.

“Really?” Bruce mumbled. “Really?”

“I am sorry,” Thor said, and had the grace to look sheepish. “I do not understand this strange Midgardian custom of choosing things.”

Steve heaved a sigh.

“Okay, you know what?” Tony got to his feet. “We’re done. You and Blondie here should have settled this hours ago. We’re just going to watch–”

“No one wants to watch another documentary about you, Stark,” Steve said into his hands.

The rest of the group made noises of agreement. Tony, apparently thinking that this was somehow your fault, glowered at you and gestured at Thor.

“By all means, spend the rest of our lives trying to teach an immortal dog new tricks.”

You glowered at him in response. Thor had to wave his free hand in front of your eye to bring your focus back to him.

“[Name]?”

This time, it was you that sighed. “Scissor cuts paper; paper covers rock; rock crushes lizard; lizard poisons Spock; Spock smashes scissors; scissors decapitate lizard; lizard eats paper; paper disproves Spock; Spock vaporizes rock, and rock crushes scissors.” You made a cutting motion with two fingers in the air. “Got it?”

He beamed. “I understand completely. Thank you, [Name].”

“No problem.” You sat up straight once more. “Let’s just get this over with before I have to listen to another eight hours about the Stark Expo. Ready?”

“Hey, I’m just saying,” Tony called. “This is your last chance. You guys don’t decide this round, we’re doing whatI want to do. My tower, my rules.”

“Ready?” you asked again without even showing any sign that you had heard him. Thor nodded.

“I am prepared!”

“Rock-Paper-Scissors-Lizard-Spock!”

You held up Spock. Thor continued to hold up rock. The only difference this round was that he looked delighted.

“I win!” he cried joyously.

“What?” You looked from your hand to his. “No, you don’t. Spock vaporizes rock.”

"But Spock is an alien not of Asgard.“

You nodded.

"And a rock is of Midgard.”

"Um…so?“

"The only things that can defeat those of Midgard are those of Asgard! Thus, the victory is mine.”

You stared. And stared. And stared some more. Finally, without taking his eyes off the still-blank television screen, Bruce spoke up:

“He still doesn’t get it.”

Looks like you’d all get to spend your night learning about Stark Industries again after all.

Looking at the Past

Summary: Loki gets captured by the TVA and gets to see his past were he finds out that he had a lover; you.

  • A/N: so I watched the first episode of Loki and it inspired me to get out of my writers block and write a story about Loki looking back at his past and sees someone that loved him. So trigger warning VERY EMOTIONAL AND LOKI EPISODE 1 SPOILERS

Loki had never felt so far away from the concept of control until now. He never felt so lost, so helpless and so purposeless until he stepped foot in the TVA. He hated the feeling, he hated feeling this way, he hated the Avengers but most of all, Loki hated himself.

At first, he thought it was a joke. That this place was all a front, that he was a God and a God was the most powerful being. However, after visiting Casey and finding the multitude of infinity stones used as paper weight, he realised that the TVA was no joke. The TVA was in fact the keepers of time and all the choices his made were choices that was already written.

Except him running away of course.

Loki looked at the projector that was playing before, paused on all the Avengers. A thought had slowly crept into his brain. The thought of looking at his whole life. He shuddered at the thought. He was scared. Mobius had told him his life purpose was to create pain and suffering for others so that they can achieve the best version of themselves. Had that been true? Was his whole life just pain and suffering? Had his life been a meaningless void filled to aid others to the betterment of themselves while he crumbled to nothingness?

Loki let out a sigh, thinking to himself how he might as well see how horrible his life was. He sat down on the metal chair, letting out a breath. His shaky hand went to the player, fast forwarding it to his mother’s death. The death that he had caused.

A single tear rolled down his cheek as he realised that his mother’s death was on him. He never thought Mobius was telling truth, that he was lying to manipulate Loki. But the infinity stones in Casey’s drawers had reminded him about the awful fact that he did indeed kill his mother. He was the reason why his mother had died. In an effort to gain control of his life, he lost the one thing that mattered to him the most; his mother.

He fast forwarded it but paused when he saw an familiar face, your familiar face. He was confused, you were the one who fought against him with the Avengers, why did you show up again? Did he come back to Earth?

“Loki, you are not responsible for your mother’s death,” you spoke, walking around to face him. He could see the skyline behind you, realising it was the Avenger’s Tower. Apparently he had returned to Earth after his mother’s demise.

“I led them to her!” He heard himself yell, chucking a glass. But you didn’t flinch. “I led them to her! I killed her!”

He watched as you walked closer to him, grabbing his hand. “You were in your lowest state, vulnerable to your weakest intuition. Your father had imprisoned you. Even though someone had been torturing you to do the things you had to do to New York.”

Loki flinched at that. Were you guys that close that he told you his deepest darkest secret? About how Thanos had tortured him and imprisoned him to get the other infinity stones?

“How did you know about that?” Loki yelled at you.

Apparently not.

“Because I can tell when someone has been tortured and manipulated by monsters,” you replied back in a calm voice, your eyes tearing up. “I know Loki. I know how it feels to helpless, to feel lost and unwanted and-“

Loki stopped it, his breath trembling. He fast forwarded it, not wanting to hear anything else as more tears fell down his face. He paused again, seeing a provocative image fill the screen and his veins filled with curiosity.

“Loki,” he heard your voice moan. He watched on as he saw himself not fucking you, but making love to you. He watched himself, his eyes filled with love and adoration at yourself.

He watched as your bodies molded together so perfectly, how you were both moving in synchrony. He watched as none of you broke eye contact, as both of you moaned in pure bliss.

“I love you,” he heard himself tell you. Something he never realised he would ever tell anyone. And by the vulnerability in his eyes, he knew future him had a hard time even saying it. He looked at you as if he was scared he had frightened you, as if those words had pushed you away.

But it didn’t. It had made your bright and beautiful smile broaden even more.

“I love you too.”

He let out a breath, not stopping himself from crying this time. Had he finally found someone who loved him for himself? Had he really been that lucky? He paused it again, looking at you. How your eyes looked at his. How calming and serene you two looked together.

He fast forwarded.

“How could you do that!” He heard himself screaming at you. Your face was in tears, looking back at him. “How could you be so idiotic, I told you to go back!”

“Why are you so mad, I’m still alive aren’t I?” You yelled back, clutching your stomach.

“Barely! God you humans are so daft!” He yelled back at you, his hands brushing his hair back. “Humans are so fucking daft and fucking pathetic!”

“Oh I’m sorry God Almighty, forgot you were immortal!” You yelled back, letting out a groan as your stomach was fighting against your screaming. “I’ll take the thank you later.”

“Thank you? Thank you!” Loki yelled back at you. “That weapon would’ve barely scratched me! You didn’t need to risk your life to stop it! You didn’t need to almost die just so you get to play hero and-“

“Don’t you understand that I can’t lose you!” He heard you scream louder than ever before, making him go silent. You let out a sob, shaking your head. “You’re the only- only good thing that has ever happened to me. And and- fuck, it scares me how much I love you. I love you Loki Laufeyson. I love you so much that I’d go through hell and back just to make you smile even if it meant I wasn’t alive to see it!”

Loki paused the video, letting out a sob before shaking his head. He couldn’t even fathom it. He thought he was an unlovable monster. Yet it seemed that you were blind to all of it.

He fast forward.

“I bought you a house,” Loki heard himself again.

You two were lying on bed, looking like you were in a private room on a spaceship. Both of you cuddling under the the sheets, Loki’s fingers drawing shapes on your skin.

You laughed at him, not taking him serious. But his face didn’t change, stopping your laugh. “Wait, you’re serious?”

“Mhmm,” Loki replied back kissing your knuckles. You giggled at him, and Loki’s smile widened at your laugh. Even the Loki who watched on felt himself smiling at the sound of your voice giggling.

“And how did you get the money?”

“A god doesn’t pay.” Loki replied, laughing as you slapped him in the arm.

“Where’s the house? On Asgard?” You replied back jokingly. “How convenient for you, it’s in ashes now.”

“Earth.” Loki pushed your hair back. You looked at him in disbelief.

“Earth?” You questioned him, your face in bewilderment. “I thought you hated Earth, which is why we decided to visit Asgard instead.”

“But you love it,” Loki replied back, kissing your forehead. “And if you love it, then that’s enough for me.”

Loki fast forwarded it, unable to handle it watching it anymore. He needed to see how this played out. So he went to the end.

The hairs in his forearm rose as he stood up from his seat at the site of Thanos. He felt a cold shiver run down his spine, your bloodied face in the back.

“Please,” he heard you wheeze out, tears uncontrollably running down your face. You tried crawling over to Thanos, trying to find mercy within the Titan. “Please.”

“I am feeling generous today,” The Titan said with a smile before picking up Loki by the neck.

“No!” He heard you scream. It was as if all the energy in your body came out all at once as you got up to run, only to be locked down by pieces of metal from one of the children of Thanos. “No! Let him go please!”

“So I’ll only kill you, and I’ll spare your brother and the girl,” Thanos said, before snapping his neck.

Loki let out a deep breath, his whole body shaking. He heard you scream in agony, a shriek that can only be described as a mother losing a child to war. He watched as you flung your body on him, trying to protect him from the explosion of the ship. He watched as Thor begged you to leave, but you yelling that you weren’t going to leave him alone, that he was not dying alone. And then he watched on as the words ‘End of File’ were etched on the screen.

Loki shook his head, before he started laughing. Laughing at himself. Laughing at his life. Laughing at how just as life was getting better for himself, just as he started making amends, he died.

“What’s so funny?” He heard a voice say behind him. Loki smirked, turning around. The women looked at him weirdly, his face all tear stricken.

“Glorious purpose.”

“Loki?” Mobius called out to Loki who was sitting down, his hands on his face with the tesseract next to him. “Nowhere left to run.”

“I can’t go back, can I? Back to my timeline?” Loki asked, feeling helpless. Feeling sad. Sad because he will never have a story with you, a life with you. “I don’t enjoy hurting people. I- I don’t enjoy it. I do it because I have to, because I’ve had to.”

Mobius slowly walked over to Loki, feeling a bit more motivated now that Loki was opening up to him more. “Okay, explain that to me.”

“Because it’s part of the illusion,” Loki explained, letting out a sigh. “It’s the cruel, elaborate trick conjured by the weak to inspire fear.”

“A desperate play for control,” Mobius finished for him, a smile tugging on the corner of his lips. “You do know yourself.”

“A villain,” Loki scoffed. Mobius shook his head.

“That’s not how I see it.” He then looked at the tesseract that was near Loki. “You try to use that?”

“Oh, several times,” Loki laughed, looking at the tesseract with now lost interest. Men and women have died for this. Have started wars for this. Yet compared to the sacred timeline, these stones were toys. “Even an Infinity Stone is useless here. The TVA is formidable.”

“That’s been my experience.” Mobius peeked an eye on Loki, feeling sympathetic. He let out a sigh. “Listen, I can’t offer you salvation, but maybe I can offer you something better. A fugitive Variant’s been killing our Minutemen.”

“And you need the God of Mischief to help you stop him?” Loki had asked him.

“That’s right.”

“Why me?” Loki asked confusedly, arching an eyebrow.

“Because the Variant we’re hunting,” he paused, looking Loki in the eye.

“Is Y/N”

You let out a breath, watching the minute men as they walked out of the portal. You hid back in the darkness, looking as the scene played out in front of you.

“I think some jackass found himself a time machine, came back here to get rich,” one of them spoke. You let out a small laugh, shaking your head at their laziness. The TVA might be powerful, but god their workers were indolent.

“Should we fan out and look for him, sir?” A smarter minute man asked.

“Nah. It’s not worth the paperwork.” The minute man turned around, looking at the other worker. “Just prune it. Let’s bail. Set a charge.”

The minuteman was about to set the charge but before he did, he made eye contact with you. You raised a hand up, purple light seeping through your fingers. “Wait. Someone’s out there.”

“Who are you!” The minute men spoke, pointing their weapon at you. You know walked towards them, a little coy smile on your lips.

“I’ll make this easy for you guys.” You pointed at the device. “I want that. Give it to me, and I’ll spare you.”

“No you can’t just walk in here and-“

“Fine,” you sighed, rolling your eyes. Your finger lit up an even brighter purple spark, before pointing it towards the oil and lighting it up in flames.

You watched as the minute men burned into flames, slight twinge of guilt seeping through your veins. The Avengers would be so disappointed in you. But that thought disappeared as soon as it came to your head. You wanted Loki back, no matter what the cost.

You would walk to hell and back just to see him smile.

So you walked over to the device, picking it up before transforming back into your true form. The form you took after the final battle against Thanos. The form you took after you snapped your fingers, after taking the gauntlet. You didn’t care if you died when you wore the infinity gauntlet, you already lost Loki. But you didn’t died. Instead…

You became the Infinity Witch.
