Una ilustración que hice hace unos días , reflejando las turbulencias en mi mente por esos momentos.

When people take flight, they often leave their brains on the ground. A combination of the altitude, thealcohol, nausea drugs and/or sleeping pills, and sheer restlessness turn the airplane cabin into a stunning gallery of the worst of human behavior. Flight attendants bear witness to the craziest things as they soar through the air, a lot of which involve pee, poop, and penises. A Reddit thread posed the question, “Flightattendants of Reddit, What’s the most bizarre thing you’ve seen on a flight?” Here are the funniest examples.

1. The nocturnal pisser

2. The nocturnal masturbator

3. The cup of pee

4. The bus stop

5. The mile high club

6. The meet-cute.

7. The confused pee-er

8. The pork chop.

9. The colostomy bag

10. The naked man

11. The blowjob

This the real picture EXPLAINS the turbulence :)

Pressures

As we pass through the soft precursive morning light with the emotional ease of waking with the dawn, our calm is broken by unseen and trembling cyclical waves of disturbed air. Turbulence pervades above a wrinkled and nappy blanket of cloud. Driven by pressures external to our experience, but all too familiar to those stuck beneath the shroud of gloom. Passing behind the front, escaping it’s…

Solitude in the Vanishing Light

The remnants of brooding storms, their latent energy fizzling into ripples of disturbed air, rising in the night sky. We cruise toward the horizon, tangent to the day, and relish the deepening silence in our moment of solitude.

Flow galleria (#2) : Smoke from an Incense stick

In this set of images the smoke from an incense stick is seen making a transition from a smooth laminar flow (very close to the incense stick) to a turbulent flow (far away from the incense stick) while passing through the Kelvin-Helmholtz instability (rolling vortices).

Bending light using heat: DIY Airplane edition

These images were captured from an airplane overlooking San Fransisco. But there’s something interesting going on here and something you can try the next time you are flying.

Right near the the middle of the image you should be able to notice a haze in the image. This is due to the exhaust from the engine.

image

Hot air is less dense than cold air.

And this creates a gradient in the refractive index of the air.

The turbulence of the air emanating from the exhaust gases also has a direct correlation to the degree of distortion of the image.

More the turbulence, more the distortion.

Although the above image is from a commercial aircraft, the effect is even more dramatic in fighter jets.

Have a great day!

* The term that is used to describe this phenomenon is ‘Heat Haze’. You can read more about this  here.

That was one of the worst plane trips I’ve ever made.Staying at the Rydges near the airport

That was one of the worst plane trips I’ve ever made.

Staying at the Rydges near the airport was a great idea. We ended up being ridiculously early for our flight after checking in, going through security and going through customs in record time.

The flight to Seoul was decent enough. Plenty of food and good service on Korean Air.

We also made our connecting flight without a hitch.

The issue? Horrible weather in Tokyo made for the worst turbulence I have ever experienced. It was so bad I thought I was going to be sick and couldn’t wait to be off the plane. I sincerely hope that we don’t have that kind of problem on the way home.

We ended up landing late because of the turbulence and were extremely lucky to make it out of the airport relatively quickly. We managed to race for a Skyliner, change at Nippori to a JR Yamanote train and didn’t get lost in Shin-Okubo.

We’ve both been pretty sick overnight. Tal is at least getting some sleep whereas I’m finding it very hard to do so. We’ve both been up several times during the night because we’ve been sick.

I really hope things improve tomorrow. Considering going out really early to go to the 7/11 down the street to get some things to eat for the both of us. Hopefully a bite to eat and a shower before a leisurely walk around Tokyo will make us feel better.
