My favourite sea creature - coconut octopus. Clever little beastie that picks shells and carries them to his preferred spot to build himself a ‘house’. Coconut octopus (amphioctopus marinates) is one of only two octopus species to display bipedal locomotion (”just look at him running on his footsies) and to use tools.  Isn’t it adorable? 

Day 11 of #mermay is nervous about being a day late, sorry! I finished this one pretty late, and went to bed without posting it (oops). One of my friends suggested that I do a bunch of different merms with different emotions, so this is one for @lexbex05. : ) Hopefully I’ll get today’s up in a little bit (but it may be tomorrow, let’s be real).

Day 8 of #mermay has a flower in her hair! Again, a quick sketch tonight, cause I got pretty busy. I’ll put more thought into tomorrow’s, I promise!

Day 7 of #mermay has a flashy fin! A sort of simpler drawing today, just played around with the tail pattern. I’m very pleased with her hands, though- I feel like I’m getting better at hands!

Day 5 of #mermay sees her reflection! I haven’t drawn too many characters from this angle before, so this was sort of an experiment, but I’m happy with how it came out! Also, credit where credit is due: the bubble and reflection were my husband’s ideas. : )

Day 4 of #mermay is a day late, sorry! Had a lot to do yesterday, but I made up for it with a lot of drawing this evening! I’ve got this bored young lady for you now, and I’ll have today’s up in just a little bit!

Day 3 of #mermay has a super long tail! I’ve seen so many with long, curly tails, but they’re almost always super skinny, so I wanted to make a chubby long tailed girl! I think she’s cute. ^_^

Day 2 of #mermay is this scaled beauty! Guys, I’m already so excited about my mermaids this month- I’ve got a bunch of sketches ready, and I’m feeling the creative juices!

I finally finished up the coloring on my jellyfish mermaid! Trying to get back into a mermaid frame of mind- gearing up for #mermay2018! This one was from the first Mermay, a couple years ago- took me long enough to finish her up, but I’m pleased with the colors. What do you guys think? Any other mermaids I should finish up with color?

Sorry about the terrible photo- I took it real quick while I was working on her- I should be able to finish her tomorrow! So excited, she’s coming out even better than I originally pictured her! I’m hoping to devote a little more time to coloring and finishing pieces soon- it’s been too long since I regularly colored my drawings, and I’d really like to take it back up!
