Something Special
Fandom: Trollhunters (Tales of Arcadia)
Characters:Walter Strickler, Waltolomew Stricklander (Familiar), implied Barbara Lake/Walter Strickler (Stricklake)
Rating:G
Summary:Waltolomew/Will wants to make a Mother’s Day card Barbara will remember. Inspired by a Reddit post that I can’t find anymore, which is a pity because it was hilarious.
—–
“I don’t like it,” Will said.
“It” was the Mother’s Day card Will had crafted using what seemed to be every article from the 1,000-piece craft vault Nomura had cursed them with at Christmas. Walter looked up from his project—a calligraphed invitation to a weekend for two at the Plaza—and cast a weary eye over the decorative debris field surrounding his familiar before leaning over the table to examine his work.

Um so I’m working on this Stricklakerot thing… I don’t think I can limit it to one sentence so have this…
“Heavens, no, he's—very attractive,” Walter admitted, “But he has every right to hate me for what I did to him, I don’t think I want to infringe on you and him, if you want topursue Angor. But at the same time, I don’t want to leave you alone with him.”

Trollhunter!Douxie The meeting part 1
Jim: You lying, cheating @&X!&?/X&@! F'ing $@&!$X%£¥}!!!!
Claire: F'k you Jim! You backstabbing tyrant asshole!
Douxie, absolutely aghast at the words coming out of Jim’s mouth: Uhhhhh….. where did Jim learn to curse in Draconic?
Archie: Who thought a game of Risk was a good idea after what happened with Monopoly?? You know Risk is even worse!
Strickler, side eying Claire: Yeah… I admit this was not my best idea… Young Atlas, perhaps you sh…
Jim: F'ing Back off Strickler!
Archie: Uhmmmmmm Douxie?? Maybe we should break this up…..
Douxie, noticing Claires eyes: Oh fuzzbuckets….
I had a thought…. since monopoly gone wrong has been done and banned already. what if… Strickler introduces the team to Risk (which he has never lost) hedging on his many years as a spy, strategist, history teacher, and head of the Janus Order to give him the upper hand, only to forget about how competitive Claire can be, and even more shocking… finding out dear, sweet, good boy, make enemies into friends/family Jim is an absolutely ruthless cutthroat tyrant hellbent on (board game) world domination.
Don’t worry though, in my head, this ends in one of those anger turned to well… you know… make out sessions… where the angry parties get closer and closer and suddenly kissing, like happens in the movies, totally oblivious to the fact that other people are still there and embarrassing everyone.
Fun fact, as this is Strickler’s game, I figured he bought it new when it first came out, so I did the original 1950’s aqua box.

Has sound!
This right here, this is one of my most favorite scenes in Trollhunters. Jim has so much faith in his favorite teacher that he can’t even fathom the idea that Strickler might be a changeling while Toby is already convinced. The slightly amused look on Jim’s face, the way they both glance at the gaggletack. And then Toby glares at Jim before barreling forward. The ensuing tug of war, and Jim kind of has a point. I’m not sure which of them thought exposing changelings at school was a good idea. Toby is determined though and this we get to the best part of the clip, Toby snatching the gaggletack tack out of a completely shocked Jim’s hands and throwing it at Strickler. We get to enjoy a classic Jimism… the head shake! They range from extremely subtle to very expressive depending on the level of emotion he’s experiencing. It’s one of my favorite Jim things!
Moving on, we have Toby being ‘on mission’ while Jim alternates between angry glaring at Toby and embarrassed, apologetic looks towards Strickler, who is looking quite amused at their bumbling attempt to expose him. Strickler smoothly and suspiciously avoiding picking it up, which finally kicks Jim’s brain into gear, and we get Jim’s quick thinking excuse before Claire throws a wrench in their 'plan’ and gives Strickler an out, and us Jim and Toby’s exasperated looks.
Not in the clip because of file size limits…. Claire giving the gaggletack back to a very embarrassed Jim, Strickler calling Jim Young Atlas (for the first time?), and now Jim too, is quite suspicious of Strickler; So much, that they forget Claire is still there. Finally…. math stuff.
The whole thing is just hilariously glorious. The multiple back and forths, the dialog, the expressions, Jim’s shock. I’m not too embarrassed to admit that I will watch this several times in a row while giggling maniacally every time I get to it. I’m easily amused. Enjoy!
I want to hug him your honour
Correction:
I NEED to hug him your honour! Give this poor boy as many hugs as possible, look at him and how much he needs them!!
I don’t know how hard it must’ve been for Toby to say this to Jim. He must’ve just thought: “ok, so Strickler just died, who’s been such a big part of his and Dr. L’s lives in the past few years. And now on top of that, I have to tell him that his girlfriend he’s scared of losing has lost contact with us”. Like seriously, I know it even shows Toby struggling just a bit to tell him with that little pause, but it must’ve been just so hard to say to him.
Uuuh, some Beast!Strickler Stricklake fluff?
Literally.
