A lovely alternative to those who cannot smoke cleanse and/or who do not like to. Spray cleansing is as simple as mixing a few ingredients into Moon Water and setting the intention of ushering out negativity, exactly what smoke cleansing does.

Supplies:
• Spray Bottle
Moon Water
• Witch Hazel (A Tincture would work best)
• Dried Lavender & Lavender Essential Oil
• Eucalyptus Essential Oil
• Dried Rosemary
• Clear Quartz
• Amethyst

Directions:
In the spray bottle, add the dried Lavender, Rosemary, Clear Quartz and Amethyst. Then add equal parts Witch Hazel and Moon water until the bottle is just about full. Add a couple of drops of the essential oils before capping the spray bottle and gently shaking to combine. The longer the spray sits, the more infused the dry ingredients become with the liquids.

I know in my previous post, I mentioned finding your birth card. But what IS your birth card exactly? It’s the card in the Major Arcana that represents you as a person in tarot. In this post, I’ll teach you how to calculate that quickly by using your birthday!

1. Take your birthday and write it out as follows (for this, I’m using a random date) mm-dd-yyyy:
06 - 22 - 20 02

2. Add the numbers together as such:
   06
   22
   20
+ 02
 —–
  48

3. If you get a double digit number HIGHER than 22 (the number of major arcana in most standard decks), add the numbers separately again until you get a number lower than 22.
   4
+ 8
 —-
 12

So, the example here has a Birth Card of 12 which is the Hanged Man, which is the 12th card of the Major Arcana!

*Note: There are some cards that correlate to zodiac signs, elements, etc. I just gave the easiest example relating to numerology.

Please don’t cast circles using Salt outside, especially in the soil.
Salt is absorbent and takes water away from plant life, therefore effectively killing off most things.

There is a reason why in the Ancient Near East (Egypt, Mesopotamia, Armenia, etc), Spain, Portugal, etc it was so common to SALT THE EARTH of conquered cities, or even convicted criminals, to prevent re-inhabitation . It destroys soil nutrients, absorbency, and heavily delays and/or stops plant growth all together.

So please, my Witchy Siblings, seek safer alternatives when working outside. Cast a circle in stones or branches. Draw one into the soil itself. Use a biodegradable material like eggshells instead. But please, do NOT use Salt.

Easy to make blood ink

For anyone who hasn’t come across dragon blood before, it is a great way to give your written spells a boost.

I know it’s old craft and in modern times witches no longer need to make their own inks but I personally find natural inks more potent than modern synthetic alternatives.

To avoid any confusion this is for positive spell work. If you you are cursing or hexing you need the bat blood version (don’t worry no actual bats or dragons are hurt in the making of this ink, both are just herbal.)

Dragon Blood ink

This is the easiest method to make the ink. No thickeners or cooking are required. Just the right Ingredients

Warnings.

Neat alcohol is used in this method which is highly flammable, do not make this anywhere near a naked flame and in a well-ventilated location.

image

Ingredients:

  • 15g Real dragon blood Resin (see notes below)
  • 70g Pure alcohol 99% (see photo)

There are three types of dragon blood resin on the market. Real traditional resin called ”Dracaena Draco”. The cheap version called ”Daemonorops” and finally fake resin which tends to be a cheaper version like frankincense dyed red.

For this method to work ensure that you are using real Dracaena. The cheaper versions do not dissolve in alcohol.

Method:

Simply grind the resin slightly, it doesn’t need to be really fine as it will dissolve.

Add in the alcohol and stir for about five minutes. To thicken allow to evaporate for three hours stirring each hour.

All the resins are slightly different so test it now for colour. Add more resin if needed. If there are impurities sat at the bottom filter before bottling.

The alcohol preserves the ink making it last for ages, a slight shake will be required before use to remove any separation.

My Liminal Spaces of Death Energy

Throughout my years of being a witch, I have traveled up and down the east coast, meeting different energies along the way. This post will include my personal experiences of death energy inside certain spaces I have been and continue to use as a death witch. This is just a fun post for me to do and I hope it will bring you all some fun experiences on your journey with death’s energy. Enjoy!

First off, what does the word liminal mean?

In the book Weave the Liminal, by Laura Tempest Zakroff, we find the quote:

“So much of the experience of being a Witch and practicing Witchcraft is hard to put into words. However, liminal is one of those words that gets pretty close to describing much of what we sense. It is a good objective that captures that sense of there-but-not-quite as a sensation. Applied as a noun, it gives name to the in-between places we traverse as spirits still connected to the physical realm-while we work with spirits of other realms. What we call those realms has a lot to do with what culture we belong to, what myths we subscribe to, and how we view the invisible and the unknown. But they all find a home in the word liminal.”

Dictionary.com gives us this meaning of liminal:

Liminal is an adjective that’s used to describe things that exist at the threshold (or border) between one thing and another.

So,what’s a liminal space?

Liminal is the threshold between one thing and another, a border between things seen and unseen. It is the sensation we are here, but there is something else before us.

Put together with witchcraft, a liminal space is the door between our physical realm and the realm of other worlds. It is a doorway we can sense and feel, sometimes see, different energies and beings. Higher energies reside here, and are great for workings!

You know that sensation you get when standing in a space that feels like there is something there? When you look upon something and realize you are not alone? This is a liminal space.

Liminal Spaces of Death

Some spaces can be accessed at any time, others have limited openings. Please, be aware of your surroundings and do not attend alone if you are able to. These are my experiences, but most can be accessed at anytime. The times I use are when I experienced energies at their highest. Please, be safe.

  • A river or creek at dawn
  • Restroom stops on a large highway at 1 a.m.
  • Tree stumps in the middle of a forest
  • 24 hour convenient stores at 3 in the morning
  • Bridges over a body of water (creeks, rivers, lakes) when no one else is around
  • Standing before the ocean at dawn
  • Abandoned buildings covered in graffiti at dusk
  • A dirt road surrounded by trees when fog and little light is visible
  • Driving down a major highway when everyone else is asleep
  • Hotel lobbies and hallways after 10 pm until 4 am
  • The silence after a concert is finished and everyone has left
  • Riding a bicycle or walking through a large cemetery (when there are paths and permissions to do so, of course)
  • Walking through Main Street of a small town after midnight
  • Sitting on a porch watching rainstorms from midnight to 8 am
  • Cleaning out gardens in early spring
  • Entrances to cemeteries
  • Museums just after opening and right before closing time
  • Antique shops and thrift stores
  • Exploring landmarks of history
  • Graffiti art that has begun to wash away

What can I do in these places?

Well, let me tell you!

  1. Meditate
  2. Collect energy from these places and store it for later use
  3. Leave offerings
  4. Ask to work with beings/begin working with beings of these spaces
  5. Find objects from these spaces (with permission) to take home and draw energy from in workings at home
  6. Access these spaces in lucid dreaming or astral projection as a doorway into other worlds

There are many different ideas to do in these spaces! Do some research and find what works best for your practice!

Another thrilling installment of ‘Corvid Favorites’! This time, I’ll be speaking on Chamomile and it’s lovely properties, both medicinally and magickally.

image

The Chamomile that we know and love is typically one of two species of daisy-like plants of the Asteraceae family: the Matricaria Recutita (German Chamomile) and Anthemis Nobilis (Roman Chamomile). What’s the difference? German Chamomile is an annual that has a cone like center with petals that flare out from the center; German Chamomile are also smooth stemmed and grow similar to baby’s breath. Roman Chamomile is a perennial that has a more fern-like stem and has feathery-like petals. (See image below. Left: German Chamomile. Right: Roman Chamomile.)

Uses:

Medicinally - The biggest and probably most known medicinal use Chamomile is known for is as a sleep aid. As a natural sedative, it’s a wonderful combatant against anxiety and insomnia. It’s also anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, aids with digestion and other gastrointestinal issues, aids in relieving nausea and vomiting, and has been used to treat fevers in children.

Magickally - Washing your hands with Chamomile is said to increase your luck before gambling. Sprinkling it around the home or inside the home is a safe alternative to salt or smoke cleansing and protection, and it’s also fur baby safe (Word of caution: Cats tend to be more sensitive than Dogs to Chamomile). Add it into a bath for some added deep relaxation and peaceful intentions. Drink a nice, hot cup of Chamomile tea to aid in meditation and setting up a peaceful mind.

Oh my gosh! There’s so many of you now! Thank you all so much, genuinely. I never thought there would be so many of you interested in what I had to say on the topic of witchcraft and herbalism. It really means so much to me, truly.

On that note, I’d like to relay that I’m going to take a few days of a break from posting to rest mentally for a bit. If you have any ideas or topics you’d like me to post about, please let me know! (Reblog, ask/message, whatever method you’d prefer).

Once again, thank you all so much for supporting my small blog!

Hey loves, I don’t want to make this post suuuper long so imagine me blowing a welcome kiss to all of you and let’s get started…

The generic practice of reading fire is called pyromancy

We can break a candle reading session down to 3 main parts:

  • Observation (flame watching)
  • Gathering & understanding (decoding fire’s messages)
  • Final question & Goodbye (ask if there’s anything else you should know before leaving, thank and salute fire/salamanders)

During the observation phase, watch for:

  1. Length of the flame 1-2 min to know WHEN-the timing = PAST
  2. Shape of the flame 2-3 min to know WHAT-the actual matter = PRESENT
  3. Direction & behavior of the flame 3-4 min to know HOW-the true nature of it = hints at the FUTURE (see where the fire is pointing to know what type of matter it is; concentrate on the opposite direction telling you how to counteract to solve or banish whatever it might be; it also indicates what elemental energy is strongly supporting/protecting you in taking action as well as in related spellwork)
  4. Presence/Absence of Smoke 2-3 min to understand the SOURCE of your awareness

*Keep a compass handy!

Salamanders/fire will try to communicate with you as soon as you light the fire/candle so pay attention from the very beginning.
Fire energy is impulsive, blunt, active, carefree and wild.
This type of divination detects negativity like WOW because it easily speaks the brutally honest truth regardless of how you feel or what’s happening. It brings up issues that we refuse to deal with. Again, it’s pure blunt energy.
Because of its wild nature, fire will also charge us with optimism and explosive determination to overcome problems and bad news: typically after pyromancy we feel motivated and “ready to go”.

Length

Long-extra long: something has been bothering you for a very long time now (trust your intuition, probably for years) which you never actively faced; you’ve been quiet for too long; unsolved problems from the past are challenging your patience; relevant stuff that had to be cleared much earlier

Medium: Something that has been lurking in the back of your mind for 1-3 months, a plan or an idea that could change/shake your life but is not currently a priority to you; it might be something you heard from another person or a vague thought

Short: something intense that happened within the last couple days, a very recent thing is bothering you and has almost caught you by surprise; unexpected news from day to day, a new sudden event that physically or emotionally shook you

Shape

Double: Two things that were generated consequentially or have a common link, two entities/people united by a common theme

Super-thin line: Something you felt or suspected but never had proof of evidence about, a subtle suspicion, a doubt, an insinuation; a sneaky or secretive individual

Regular:Something/someone that you accept and is part of your routine, your own mindset, something very close and not disturbing; a solid milestone in your daily life

Round: One thing in particular that constantly “fills you up”, makes you feel complete, full, exploding or either extremely delighted; a person who represses/suppresses you, someone ghosting you on purpose just to humble you or to make you feel lesser

Behavior

Steady:things are happening in the background, far from the “public eye” and without you even realizing; you - and people around you- are calm, clueless, peaceful and the surroundings seem safe; good vibes are in the air but definitely keep your eyes open and intuition awake

Shaky, wiggly: things are visibly happening before your eyes, making you confused, uneasy or giving you mood swings; anxiety; you are able to feel bad vibes around you: take control of the situation and protect yourself

Weak, petite & almost extinguished: matter/person X is now annihilating you before the eyes of everybody, but still no one defends you; seek help in others, protect yourself and take action to win this ripe, suffered battle

Directions

EAST:AIR - communication, mindset, mental/spoken/written things, logical reasoning, ideas, plans, spring, morning, sunrise, masculine…
WEST:WATER - emotions, unconscious, gut feelings, passivity, illogical reasoning, intangibility, blue, flow, moisture, fall, sunset, feminine…
SOUTH:FIRE - action, guidance, strength, activity, blood, warmth, creativity, masculine, red, impulse, summer, noon…
NORTH:EARTH - stability, firmness, art, finance, grounding, material things, tangibility, stillness, death, birth, winter, midnight, green…

(+ ALL YOUR PERSONAL KNOWLEDGE about the elements and how they can be interpreted, what meanings they have in our lives and their specific correspondences)

Smoke

Absence: you are the source of awareness: your body and soul have sent you signals about matter X and you had an inner awakening which led you to this reading

Presence: someone else enlightened you with their words and made you fully aware of matter X; something popped up as an obvious proof that you weren’t expecting to find: this has awakened your inquisitive mind and led it to this reading.

Hopefully you’ll get inspired by this post and learn something useful to spice up your divination practice:) I thank you so much for reading,

1. When to light a candle.

Candles should be used ONLY IN MOMENTS OF NEED, STRUGGLE AND WEAKNESS. Using a candle in moments where it’s not necessary is INEFFECTIVE. You can’t use them as an “additional” or “supportive” ritual for what is already perfectly fine.
Save yourself some money and stop wasting candles for non-honorable purposes. Fire energy is proud and very strong, it doesn’t like just to be a useless “accessory” in your space. Do not offend it.

Each time you light a candle, there must be a serious reason why.

2. What candle do I choose?

Size, height, duration, color and scent all depend on your needs.

  • Maxi votive candles (40h+ duration)-Use if you’re stuck in a situation that’ll take long weeks or even an entire month to come to an end: you can light it every night for 2-3 hours until you achieve your goals.
  • Big candles (30h+ duration)-Use if you’re stuck in a situation that’ll take about 15 days to come to an end: you can light it every night for 2-3 hours until you achieve your goals.
  • Medium candles (20-26h duration)-Use if you’re stuck in a situation that’ll take between 1 week and 10 days to come to an end: you can light it every night for 2-3 hours until you achieve your goals.
  • Mini candles (2-4h duration)-Use if you’re invoking the help of fire energy for just a 1-day matter, use tealights and small candles.
Let it burn until the flame expires by itself, do not suppress it.

BARE CANDLE: it’s the candle alone, you decide what type of candle holder goes underneath. Plates, flat coasters & ashtrays are recommended. Very effective in small sizes. Use if you don’t need extra protection and for shortest term rituals (1-2 days). When larger, it can be placed inside a lantern or vase (read VASE C. or LANTERN). Can’t be lit in social settings, indoor only. This type of candle supports the presence of other flames.

JAR CANDLE: Jarred candle or jar containing a candle, includes a jar cap. The cap is very useful for suppressing the flame gently; this type is recommended for long term rituals that require you to light up and extinguish the candle every night.
Excellent for patience, perseverance, affection and self-help.
Can be lit in social settings
ALONE, without the interference of other candles.

LANTERN: whatever candle you decide to place inside a lantern. Best effective for welcoming GUIDANCE, spirituality, PEACE, HOPE and INSPIRATION. DON’T USE for anything related to sadness/negativity/confusion, this candle WON’T HELP YOU SOLVE PROBLEMS. Can only be lit in private or familiar settings, both outdoor and indoor. This type of candle supports the presence of other bare flames at a reasonable distance.

VASE CANDLE: candle poured or placed inside a vase holder. Vase candles don’t have a cap, they’re open on top. Best suitable for pyromancy/flame reading, social relationships, deep spellworkand protection (the taller the vase/the darker the color of the vase, the stronger the protection). By far the most powerful yet sensitiveof all, can’t be lit in social settings.Indoor only. This type of candle DOES NOT support the presence of other flames.

ROUND/FLOATING CANDLE: has round edges, made to float on water during a relaxing bath or just for atmosphere in a pond. They interact well with water energy, best suitable for emotions, mystery and for any sort of healing ritual. Can be lit in social settings but most effective in private, both indoor and outdoor. This type of candle supports the presence of other twinflames.

CLASSICTHIN & TALL CANDLE(candelabra): typical slender candle, excellent for spirituality, enlightment, ambition, special occasions and wealth. Being a tall candle, it strives towards a higher dimention and energy. Can be lit in social settings, indoor only.Supports the presence of other flames.Best effective if colored(non-white).

3. What color should I pick?

“But Corvid, why should I pull twice daily?”

There are a few reasons as to why, actually:

  • If the deck is new or newer, the more frequently you use it, the more attuned you become to it. It also becomes more accustomed to you and your energy.
  • The first card you pull is great to give you an overall outlook on what is to come for the day. A lot of people do this. What people sometimes forget is to pull at the end of the day to see what you can learn from what happened during the day, even if you think nothing happened.
  • Sometimes, if my day is busy, I’ll even pull three times. The third time will be in the middle of the day as a sort of check in to see how things are playing out and to see if there’s anything I need to pay mind to.

**Note: As with all tips and tricks, these are not end all, be all. This is just simply what I do and why I do it.

Card 1 - “What in the”:
Your current problem. Your focus. What is hindering you currently. Your challenge.

Card 2 - “Actual”:
What about this challenge/problem is grounded in reality? Is it a tangible problem?

Card 3 - “Fresh”:
Am I looking at this problem wrong? Am I going about this the wrong way? Do I need to see this with a ‘fresh’ perspective?

Card 4 - “Fuck”:
What about this is wrong? Why is it wrong? What is making it wrong?

Card 5 - “?”:
Do I need more info? Where do I need more info?

Card 6 - “!”:
What can I do about this? Where can I take action? What changes can I make to solve this?
