For the first time I am printing on the most incredible Hahnemuhle paper. I discovered the possibility of fine art printing, on papers that are usually used for drawing and painting. And fell in love with the beautiful texture of the engraving paper on which the photo is printed, the depth of colors and details that the print of gallery quality gives, so it is very pleasant tactile. I was just delighted when I took the print run from the workshop!

Wheel of the Year: Worksheets for Pagan Families

It’s done!!  The first group of worksheets are done and read to download!  They are FREE on teacherspayteachers.com.

Designed for pagan-parented families, these worksheets guide children through an exploration of the Wheel of the Year holidays. They introduce each holiday in broad terms, and encourage family discussions and further research by the child or by the parent and child. They are intended for children grades 2-4 to do with family support, and for children grades 5-7 to do more independently. The openness of these pages allows for families to express and explore their own beliefs as well as investigate the vast diversity of our pagan community.
Children working on these worksheets will need access to pagan adults and/or online or book resources when working on the research-based pages.

Please share so families can find this new resource!  Here are some example pages:

I’m thinking to put my worksheets for pagan parented families on teachers pay teachers because then they can be easily downloaded for free.

The first one to go up will be about the Wheel of the Year, exploring how seasons change and how pagans celebrate that. Others that are almost done include:

  • Divination (how it works and exploring runes)
  • Rituals (what they are and how to design a basic ritual)
  • Mythology (worksheets to guide exploration of any children’s books of myths)
  • Elements (exploring the elements, how they can help us in our lives, and how we can help protect them/the Earth)

The packets are designed to facilitate family discussions and children’s explorations and are aimed at grades 2-7, depending how much support/independence is expected in the family. With support grade level or above 2-3 graders could do them. Fully independent 6-7th students could enjoy them.

If you were teaching children about your pagan path, what topic(s) would be important for you to discuss?

(This question is open to parents and non-parents alike)

One of the fundamental things I was taught in early child development courses was how important it was to teach kids how to interact and appreciate nature. I would try to help facilitate that with my own kids, even if it isn’t the path they choose as adults.

I made a specific post abt this myself but: empaths/empathy, chances are if you’re teaching kids it’ll come up anyways and it can be tricky to address between the low empathy kids and the highly empathic kids. low empathy they may feel guilty or disconnected from their peers or craft. High empathy they may end up feeling like their pain is invalid or not their own and may disconnect from themselves. Either way it can come with many issues listed or not listed that can become harder to address the longer they sit undealt with.

This is a really good point! I hadn’t thought of that yet - at least not in regards to my project. Thank you for adding that !!!

A Haven, A Home

When thinking about creating a witchy, welcoming home, it can help to think what a haven means to you.

Begin by thinking of havens heroes have had in various literature. Where have they found refuge and recuperation? Then, think about places you have sought refuge in your life.

Visualize your ideal haven — allow yourself full creative imagination at this stage. Write down key words and themes of this image: cozy, peaceful, greenery, knowledge, seclusion, companionship…

Then examine your current home space. What are some ways you could bring your home closer towards that ideal in your mind?

[This is an idea I got from the book “Winter” by Jo Graham.]

5 ways to discover beauty in the everyday:

  1. When you slow down
  2. When you are open to building a new connection with a loved one
  3. In every meal you eat
  4. In the miracle that is your body
  5. In the constant changing of nature
