Not DA related for once :) made this for a birthday present, I think it came out pretty well :)
Been meaning to post this but finally done on the sign. It’s out curing right now with the final coat of weatherproofing polyurethane. Since it’s going to be an outdoor sign cant have the weather ruining it. It’s entirely wood burnt. I thought about carving around the outside of the dragons to make it pop more but I feel I’d ruin it if I did since I’m a novice at such things. Good practice tho since it was first time wood burning something.

Some more tests I did a while and forgot to post. Though I love the look of woodburning, the burner I have hurts my hands way too much. It would be impossible for me to this bigger without putting my hands out of order for a couple of days :/. Carving works great thankfully! I tried without woodburning and I think this may look better with black outlines too. This piece will be made on two wood panels separated in the middle.

This one’s a mess!

If you’ve ever wondered how to erase the actual burns… I have a method that may come as a RELIEF (Relief carving lolol)
I know this one’s hard to look at right now, but it’s an experiment piece and still has a ways to go before it’s done. But yeah, the thing I wanted to mess with here is kind of like, idk, reverse relief carving? I’m not carving for a 3D effect, just trying to create highlights and add a little more dimension. It’s subtle, but I like it, and yes it is way more effort than necessary.

@smearer colored my coati burning from the other day! And then I got excited and decided he needed to be blue, aaaand maybe that was too much but I like it!
Forgot to share these here- I’ve been woodburning some this past week. The old-ass woodburner I found has a hole in the side I covered up with masking tape and the tip is bent off to one side but I’m sure it’s still safe to use, right?
I have a nice woodburner from MasterCarver that was gifted to me almost two years ago, but is was missing the cord connecting the pen to the control box. My partner was able to buy a replacement for me just recently, so I’m getting practice in with the old one while anxiously awaiting it’s arrival.
I’d really like to take commissions for burned works when the new one gets here, message me if interested!
Here’s the last of that that batch of boxes, and all my favorites from the run. I think I may just have to keep the bear for myself!
All designs were woodburned from freehand sketches, colored with alchohol inks, and finished with Danish oil. The wolf and the cougar will be up on Etsy this weekend!

Mooooore boooxeeeees. None if these ones sold at the show but I’m incredibly pleased with how they turned out! Especially the hedgehog, he’s way more adorable than I thought he’d be, haha. These will be up on Etsy by the end of the week!

Here’s some better pictures of the boxes! The first two of these six mice were the two that sold at the show yesterday, and of course those were the two I was quietly hoping I could keep for myself, haha. But they went to good homes and I was so happy someone loved them as much as I did!

I’ve been getting back into wood burning this week! I used to burn all the freaking time but kind of got out of practice for a little while, but I’m vending at a craft show this weekend and thought it would be a good excuse to churn some burnings out again. If these boxes don’t sell I think I’ll put them up on Etsy!
