I didn’t expect to draw the tarot card, but it happened.
Let me explain a bit because I don’t want to fool anyone. Despite the fact that past week I have started to draw 3 different tarot cards and even finished one I can’t say that I have some certain plan or intention to finish the whole deck. Maybe, but maybe not.
The second thing I find important to say: the whole tarot culture, unfortunately, was never a point of my interests. I have absolutely no knowledge in this field.
So it is just my personal experiment. I decided to use the situation of lacking knowledge and moreover, I promised myself to do not read or search how other artists do it or what interpretations or canons may suggest me to use. I intentionally avoid any external information: I just know the names of cards and if some image appears in my head - I draw it. Only after I finish the card I can allow myself to read more about this single card. I’m interested to see what will come to me.
This card is initial for the whole study because without any plans and intention I started to see it (as you can see it now here) and at first, I tried to skip this suggestion of my subconscious, because I wasn’t ready to start such huge project without any hope to finish it. But it was so persistent and pushy, that it started to pop up every time I close my eyes. Few days, while I tried to resist it, the theme of tarot started to follow me everywhere.
So I gave up and draw this card, which came to me.

I’ve made forest-folk dresses!

Patterns are hand-drawn by me from nature and then printed on the natural fabric. Later I designed the dress and in the end of pretty long journey they came to life! So excited!

Dresses itself (in very limited quantity), more photos and all the details about them are available on my Etsy

The main inspiration for me here is the term anthropoecosystem (at least existing in my native language) which, saying simply, means dependence the culture of the specific Land features. How do local biodiversity influence the folk art, how the local nature is reflected in myths and how do the landscape creates narratives? These dresses from imaginary forest people, reclusive modern green witches and herbalists, they are filled with their dark fairytales and mushroom related myths.

Making clothes is so wonderful!
