Large Flathead Pine Heartwood Borer. Adults sun themselves on standing pines during late spring and summer and will also land on sidewalks, walls, and brightly clothed people. Breed in dead or dying pines and pine stumps. Bronzed Tiger Beetle. Preys on insects along edges of ponds, streams, and rivers or on coastal beaches and mudflats. May also eat fruit. Adults often seen in large numbers up to hundreds in spring and from late summer to early fall. Giant stag beetle I banged out as part of my process for developing a stag-beetle-themed knight design. This was to help get an idea of the most important shapes to conserve in the armor design.
