Here are some recent and striking typographic covers from the independent radical publishers Pluto Press. The Syriza one designed by Jamie Keenan is a bit of a personal favourite. The others are by David Gee, and the Chomsky’s are by David Pearson (nice use of Druk). Pluto have a rich history of typographic covers, I’m a big fan of their old ones by Richard Hollis, very utilitarian (some examples here&here). That double P logo has held up pretty well too.

Worth mentioning that their books (not just the covers) are very interesting too, I just bought Curationism the other day which I’ve been meaning to read for ages, and their catalogue for spring 2016 has a new Owen Hatherley in it which should be good as always (nice cover too).

Another book cover! Before Everything Broke is a Spanish novel about teenagers and drama written by Ruth Ibáñez Ámez, soon to be published. I hope you like it! <3

(ENG) Insects! So many insects! Here’s the book cover I made for the novel “Brujas de Arena” (Sand Witches) ((No, it has nothing to do with sandwiches)) by Marina Tena Tena. I hope you like it!

Did anyone say geometrical apocalypse? No? Probably not, it’s an odd combination of words. HOWEVER, if you’re into parallel worlds threatened by impending doom, then FRACTALbyJosé Antonio Cotrina (only in Spanish for now) might be your novel. 

And I made the cover! Yayy!

I just really, really enjoy creating book covers

For the second one, Lunarborn, rather than hand-drawing everything as I usually do, I used stock assets for the snake and antlers to see how quickly I could create a good quality design. Just felt that should be noted

I’m putting together a book cover design portfolio, so here’s one I did for the first Artemis Fowl book.  The idea being that there’s a hole in the “O” of the cover page and the second page is the same location in the Time Stop.  Was really lucky to give prints of this cover to Eoin Colfer at BookCon, and he was an absolute delight.

The left side has a rectangular house. In the middle of the house is a section built outwards which has a small roof, a window with a silhouette of Merricat in it between the blue curtains with a gold-purple color in the background. Under the window is a porch with two columns with a brown door in between it. There are steps in front of the porch. On the top window to the right of Merricat is a silhouette of Constance shutting the curtains. In the back portion of the house are two windows on either side of the middle section, with the far window having a rectangular awning. Under these windows is a large rectangular window with shutters on each side of the house, It has dark yellow curtains that are mostly closed. On the far right side are two more windows. At the top of the house is a black roof with five chimneys with varying heights. Two are on the left side of the house and three are on the right side.

There are yellow reflections of the windows on the lawn and text that reads: ‘We Have Always Lived in This Castle.’ The lawn has a gradient that goes from grey-brown into green into navy blue.

In the bottom of the left side is a barbed fence, with three posts and a black cat’s tail over the far right post. In between the wires is text that reads: ‘Shirley Jackson.’

In the background there are several dark green trees, the moon, and the sky is violet. end ID]
