Porcelain, once merely an exquisite statue made from finest china, was brought to life after a dragon of luck granted the wish of a lonely young woman that she would find a partner who would love her forever. The delicate beauty, though cold to touch, was warm and tender of heart, and brought her human lover bouquets full of white and purple gemstones as tokens of her statuesque affection. The mortal woman aged and died, as all do, but Porcelain endures, remembering her love in stony silence, and shedding no tears.

The centre topaz is flanked by dimensional enamelled butterflies. The moveable wings are decorated with realistic gold veining, plique-à-jour and translucent enamel, and are edged with diamonds. Circa 1900.

Oh wow … it’s been full steam ahead in our little craft shop this week and we’ve been busy posting out your items. I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who has ordered from us, we really do appreciate it and we hope you love your goodies when they arrive.
On a different note … I’ve just finished two more needle felt brooches and popped them in our shop … if you’d like to take a peek they’re on our website and in our Folksy shop.

The Fuller Brooch, from 9th century England. The brooch is the earliest known personification of the 5 senses. Sight, which was thought to be the most important of the senses, is in the center, surrounded by the other 4. Each sense can be identified by their actions. Taste has his hand in his mouth, Hearing´s hand is by his ear, Touch is rubbing his hands together, and Smell has his hands behind his back and is standing between two plants. The brooch is in such good condition that it was once though to be a fake.
