Today was FARM DAY at Clearview Farms in Quaryville, PA. I drove out with my parents to visit the farm that we buy our food from! It was really awesome meeting the farmer, his family + the other families that live on the premises. My family stopped purchasing meats + dairy specifically and has been purchasing from this farm for over a year now. This farmer is associated with Weston A. Price, too!
The food is SO fresh and SO real, you can literally taste the difference between this food + store bought meat / dairy products. I’m so grateful to have a mom who cares this much about what we put into our bodies. I’m learning so much and today was an awesome day.
They served everyone so many different types of food, from what i remember there were chicken wings - regular + buffalo style, salad, meat balls, peas, mashed potatoes, string bean casserole, homemade vanilla AND chocolate ice cream, hand picked blackberries and even homemade PRETZELS — holy cow those were amazing…so buttery and delicious.
PS: I’m probably going to stay away from all beef for at least the whole summer bc a) i’m trying to lay low on meats anyway (maybe 2x a week only) and b) this cow (and all other cows) were so cute and so friendly (they let everyone pet them basically) that i don’t think i could mentally be OK with eating a steak or a burger. veggie, fish, chicken + turkey life for me. hell yeah!

Beautiful Norfolk countryside so green and rural and tranquil scene.The River Yare is a river in the English county of Norfolk. In its lower reaches it is one of the principal navigable waterways of The Broads and connects with the rest of the network. The river rises south of Dereham to the west to the village of Shipdham. The river continues its journey across the southern fringes of Norwich before it is joined by the River Wensum at Whitlingham in Trowse. At this point, it turns into a very big and wide tidal river flowing eastwards into the Broads National Park, where it passes various villages including Bramerton and Cantley. From here, the Yare passes the isolated marshland settlement of Berney Arms before entering the tidal lake of Breydon Water, where it is joined by the Bure and Waveney before it reaches the North Sea at Gorleston.

*not every single recognized species and subspecies is represented because some i could find zero information on, let alone pictures. not doing breeds of domesticated species either because i’ll be dead before i finish that
*common names are taken from the IUCN red list if applicable and iNaturalist (and very rarely wikipedia)

Ever wonder where some of the inspiration comes from for my western novels? This gal! So blessed to know Stacey, who at one time owned the largest herd of Texas Longhorns in North America, can rope like hell, knows how to cut cattle & can assist delivering calves in a pinch. Did I mention she designs leather purses nowadays & has a Ph.D.? When does she sleep? Beauty, grit & grace—isn’t that who we all want to read about in western novels?
