Tidal creek at Brancaster Staithe on North Norfolk coast ..The Turnstone can be spotted fluttering around large stones on rocky and gravelly shores, flipping them over to look for prey. It can even lift rocks as big as its own body! Although a migrant to the UK, it can be seen all year-round as different populations arrive throughout the seasons.

Sanderlings breed in the Arctic, visiting the UK in the winter and passing through on migration during spring and autumn. The distance they travel varies, but individuals have been known to make 32,000 km annual round-trips to their breeding and wintering grounds.

The five projects together restored over 1.7km of the river that had been historically dredged. Where the new channels have been constructed at Emmanuel’s & Castle Acre Commons the redundant channels have been left as backwater habitats and fish refuges. The borrow pits used for the site won gravels had turves reinstated to form wetland habitat. The berm creation, large woody material combined with the bed raising restored the river to a more sinuous channel with an increase in floodplain habitat diversity

Backed by low sand dunes and the reserve beyond Titchwell is home a wonderful expanse of pristine beach. At low tide, what is already a quiet spot can feel pretty much deserted as the sand extends for what seems like miles in every direction

Beautiful Norfolk countryside so green and rural and tranquil scene.The River Yare is a river in the English county of Norfolk. In its lower reaches it is one of the principal navigable waterways of The Broads and connects with the rest of the network. The river rises south of Dereham to the west to the village of Shipdham. The river continues its journey across the southern fringes of Norwich before it is joined by the River Wensum at Whitlingham in Trowse. At this point, it turns into a very big and wide tidal river flowing eastwards into the Broads National Park, where it passes various villages including Bramerton and Cantley. From here, the Yare passes the isolated marshland settlement of Berney Arms before entering the tidal lake of Breydon Water, where it is joined by the Bure and Waveney before it reaches the North Sea at Gorleston.
