The birth of an angel
THE NEXT CHALLENGER ARRIVES ⚔️
Meet General Delun, a highly intelligent yet vile bastard. I took the advantage that crows and owls are in fact, enemies in nature. Delun and his men were responsible for killing Jiang’s daughter Peiling, and for crippling the horned owl’s wing. But in a hasty counterattack, Jiang took the crow’s left eye out. Delun still remains as one of Jiang’s most dangerous enemies. He eventually sides with Shangyen as they both want to wipe out the owl and his army once and for all.
This is the famous (finished part of) sketch that I flushed down the toilet.
I have a couple of bad habits.
They make me do dreadful things that are extremely satisfying such as sending drawings straight to hell by flushing, tearing in half, slaughtering the paper with wide, furious strokes of pencil, throwing them to the fireplace or completely obliviating them on purpose.
Sometimes I hate my art and get unsatisfied to this point that I can’t control the impulse because I know how good it will feel after doing these barbaric things.
Because I just have the worst relationship with my own art and myself.
:D
We all face the unknown with every passing day. It lurks behind every moment, despite your best intentions to schedule your days in carefully-prepared planners. It catches you off-guard as you count the hours left on the clock. It even plagues you as you lie awake in bed at night, dark thoughts and malicious insecurities stealing your sleep away from you minute by minute.
.
Our best defense is to hold up a light and walk into the unknown. We hold our heads high as we try to summon courage, even though on the inside, we feel exposed and vulnerable.
.
Because even the most overpowering darkness will flee from the smallest flame.

Sometimes you feel as if you are living your life just under the surface. Unable to come up for air. Unable to breathe. You yearn to feel air fill your lungs, yet you have no choice but to wait in the darkness.

Another view of the village of Falderdeen from my comic The Gifts of Darkness. I wrote a little more about the design of this fictional square over on my Patreon.
