LIVE

*sigh* I know not many will read this but I need to get things off my chest. I don’t know what to do about my boyfrind. We have been dating on and off for the past year or so, but I am almost always questioning the relationship.

I do like him plenty but I am kinda wishing for more. He isn’t very showy with his emotions and is very stoic. I have tried to help him be more expressive but no luck.

I have always wanted some to tease me, I may not seem like it but I love to be dominated. Yet it seems like I can’t get anyone like that. Guy or girl. (I’m bisexual)

I am so frustrated and confused about so many things. I don’t know if I should break up with him or something. I hate it.

*sigh* sorry, if you stayed to read this. Thanks. I just had to get that off my chest.

Date someone who will never tolerate your mistakes and will help you to correct it in the most appropriate way.

“Early Relationship Romance- How Much is Too Much Romance? When you start dating someone new, there is always that short period of time when you don’t actually know what they like as far as being romanced, but you feel socially obligated to do things like: bring flowers, buy chocolates and wine, or plan elaborate dates that end up costing you both a small fortune…”

A generation or two ago, dates used to be much better defined, and much more formal. The man would ask out a lady that he liked, he would pick her up, maybe even bring her a bunch of flowers, and they would set off together for some sort of dinner and a movie combo. There are a few reasons why in most cases this doesn’t work today, and why you should adjust your expectations accordingly…..” Click here to read the rest.

Starting to date someone new should be about fun, and it should be about adventure. Not necessarily

Starting to date someone new should be about fun, and it should be about adventure. Not necessarily the physical kind, but it should be a journey of emotional exploration for the both of you. You are learning to let a whole other person into your life, and you are also learning to be part of someone else’s. If you’ve successfully met another person from dating for disabled this is only the beginning. There is so much to get to know and discover about this new person. Moreover, if you or your partner have a disability or medical condition, you have to make room in your life for it. Not just physically, but also emotionally.

The problem is we sometimes get so bogged down with worrying about our future, and where things are going, that we skim over the important parts: getting to know each-other, late night conversations about the past, our hopes and our dreams. We forget to share who we are because we are constantly worried about where things are going.

Learn to enjoy each-other’s favorite past times, take classes together, and do a ton of fun stuff. Having fun together and creating new joint memories is what builds a relationship. Don’t only talk about building a future together, but actually do it. Start sharing each other’s lives, not only verbally but actually living life together. Go on walks through parks (ones that are wheelchair accessible of course), go to games and shows. Watch movies curled up on the couch, until you both fall asleep because its late and you both have work in the morning. Do all of those things you love to do alone, but together- share yourself and your life.

So you’ve made it past the first couple of dates, and are struggling to come up with new and creative ideas for dates. Whether you are in a wheelchair, or have any kind of mobility difficulty these date ideas should be great for you to try out.

That said, you should always phone ahead to make sure the venue is indeed accessible.

You’ve gone to a coffee shop, had dinner and seen a movie, and now you’re stumped for date idea! Dating4Disabled put together a list of date ideas for you, that are also great for people with disabilities:

1. Pack a picnic and go for a hike. Or to a park that is wheelchair accessible. At this point, you should feel less awkward about just sitting down and relaxing with a glass of wine and some snacks.

2. Go to the zoo or aquarium. It’s a lot of fun to wander around the enclosures, and the atmosphere is fun a relaxing.

3. Take a pottery, dance or painting class. There is nothing like an evening of being completely embarrassed by your poor artistic skills to help you two bond.

4. Catch a Stand-Up Show. It’s much more fun than the movies, and you can drink cocktails and have a good laugh together.

5. Cook dinner together. Don’t do this if you’re not comfortable inviting them over to your home just yet (don’t forget, online safety first). But if you do; going shopping and then cooking a meal together is a lot more entertaining than a restaurant.

6. Watch a live concert, play, or poetry slam. Get out of your comfort zone and use the date as an excuse to do something you wouldn’t usually do.

7. Completely embarrass yourself singing karaoke. It doesn’t matter how awful your voice is! Karaoke bars are a great place to let your hair down.

8. Check out the local fairground or arcade. It might be for kids, but eating cotton candy as the sun sets is awesome also as an adult.

9. Art gallery or museum. Now, this idea only works if you both like art, but if you do, it can make for a lovely afternoon or evening out.

10. Festivals. Are there any culinary, music, or cultural festivals going on in town? If there are, why not check them out together.

11. Jazz bar. Live music and drinks are always a great combo.

12. Cheese and wine. You can either do this is at a venue that serves cheese and wine, or pack it as a picnic (which is the cheaper version).

13. Skpe Date! Not as much fun as real dates, but if you met someone on an online dating site, and you’re doing long distance for a while, skype is a great way to get to know each-other.

But be creative about your skype date! Arrange to cook the same meal and eat it together, or buy the same wine and sip it as you talk.

Some of these options won’t allow you to have a proper conversation, something that is important in the initial stages of a relationship. So don’t forget to balance out activity dates with dates that you can just sit down and chat.
