Ad for a pair of Marvel UK miniseries starring Death-Wreck and Death Metal, both spin-off characters of ridiculous 90s ubermech and then-Marvel UK flagship character Death’s Head II. Given the era, the hyperbolic taglines were meant with utmost sincerity… although “our brains don’t fit into our heads” is a bizarre permutation of raditude.

Now in my shop (and included in the 25% discount sale this weekend), an A3 print of my illustration, Resting Place II. 

Companion piece to Resting Place, but featuring Death’s Head bugs (Eucorysses grandis), since I’ve drawn a heck of a lot of moths already.

For a while I’ve been looking at my framed Death’s Head Hawkmoth and thinking about the skull marking and body as a tiny human sarcophagus.

Covenants with Death 1934

The Hussar’s Busby is, in effect, a shako covered by cloth or fur. These hats reached the height of their popularity in the late 19th century. Primarily worn by cavalrymen (thus, the name), the busby is not to be confused with the bearskin, which is much taller and, typically, has a rounded top. Both of these busbies are from Prussian hussar regiments in the late 19th century. The inscription on both translates to “With God For King and Fatherland.”
