If you think Peggy Carter’s life was completely re-written because of Steve going back in time then how do you explain Nebula still being alive despite shooting her past self? How do you explain the snap still happening despite 2014 Thanos dying? Or the Guardians still remembering Gamora even though she disappeared in 2014?

If non of that caused a giant paradox then tell me how Peggy’s life completely changed?

And don’t bring up what the scripts writers said because what they said and what they write are different. Use the logic of the movie.

It’s been nearly 2 year since endgame came out and people are still arguing about whether Steve’s ending makes sense, both from a character perspective and in terms of the time travel rules in the mcu.

I’ve argued enough about it in terms of character. This is just about why it makes sense in terms of the time travel rules.

Firstly, the screenwriters have said Steve lives out his life in the main timeline, but what they say doesn’t matter, what they wrote in the script does. We are told in the movie that going to the past creates a branch off timeline and Steve’s ending doesn’t contradict that.

There’s been a lot of questions asking why Steve appeared on the bench rather than in the same place he was standing when he left. That’s easy

1. He changed the coordinates on the gps, we see him and Tony do the same when they want to go back to the 70’s. 2. If he just turned up old they may have thought that what happened to Scott earlier had also happened to him and tried to make him young again. 3. Dramatic effect.

Another question I’ve read a lot is, where was the suit? Well the suit was nanotech that went into the gps bracelet, and the bracelet could easily be taken off. Perhaps he just put it into the bag he had or maybe his pocket.

So there we are. Steve’s ending doesn’t mess up the rules of time travel, he lived his life in a branch of timeline and returned to the original when he was ready to.

Imagine Steve seeing you in the past

The sounds of a city that had just been demolition filled the air as Steve rounded the alley, where he was supposed to meet the others. His feet pounded against the cracked pavement until a figure appeared in front of him - like a cool breeze, you appeared.

Your face was a bit dirty from the fighting against Loki and his minions, he could tell you were tired. Your body glitched for a moment, an effect of your ability, but then you were just in front of him - truly in front of him. His heart sank and he had to fight every instinct to hold you, to kiss you on the lips, to run his fingers through your hair.

His entire being was aching.

You stared at him and he could see that you were processing a thought.

He said your name and you stepped back, bringing a hand to the comm in your ear. “I found him.”

Steve knew then that you thought he was Loki and he couldn’t blame you. He didn’t say a word, but watched as you disappeared and then felt you behind him, your hands on his shoulder.

“You didn’t get the look right,” you whispered in his eyes, the warmth of your breath sending chills down his spine. “Steve’s eyes are softer…”

He held back a smile, but it quickly faded. “These past few years have been rough…”

You laughed, fingers gripping him tighter. “I’m sure your brother will put you in a cozy prison, now let’s go - Asgard awaits.”

God, he missed your laugh. He missed everything about you and a day never went by that he didn’t think of you - and the life you had together and the future that was ripped away from the two of you five years ago. But that’s why he was doing this - going on this crazy mission to bring back everyone, to bring you back.

That thought relieved any guilt he was about to have. He closed his eyes for a moment and took in your touch before he turned around and knocked you out with his shield. He caught you before you hit the ground, gently laying you down. He kneeled beside you, brushing hair away from your face. Steve closed his eyes and pressed his forehead against yours, gripping your arm like it was the last time.

After a moment, he pulled away and kissed you on the forehead. “I’ll see you soon, sweetheart.”

Steve got up and didn’t look back as he rushed to meet Tony and Scott.
