Hey, it’s my birthday today and one week until the Strange Hours Press Kickstarter launches! It would be super awesome and very appreciated if you bookmarked the project page and told a friend about it. And as always, feel free to ask me about etching.

Today! Strange Hours Press kickstarter launched! I’m super excited to share this part of my printmaking journey with you. Head on over and take a look!!

HEY! It’s the LAST WEEKEND of the Strange Hours Press kickstarter!

And it’s getting so close, 85% funded! But that’s still not 100% funded, and you know the KS song and dance: ALL OR NOTHING. If you haven’t checked it out or told a friend about it already, this would be a superb time to do that.

There’s a pledge level for everybody, so if you want to throw me a dollar and that works for you, you can do that. Or maybe you want a very fancy tarot etching from my deck in progress The Chrono Tarot (even the cards where the edition is sold out)—you can do that too. Or maybe you want a little suite of all my sword prints—all reward tiers above $1 are available as add-ons. There are two brand new, never-before editioned etchings that you could be the first to own. There are a lot of options. I want you to have options! Also I want you to have etchings!

The campaign ends Wednesday the 22nd, at 6:00 am Eastern (because I didn’t have a great understanding of how exactly KS does its countdowns when I hit the launch button.) So for many of you: treat it as if it ends Tuesday. Or sooner.

Thank you so much for your support, and for inviting my art into your home!

Last 24 hours of the Strange Hours Press campaign!

Since we’ve made funding, all reward tiers are guaranteed and this is your best chance to get a special edition etching for a while. I’ve built in covid delays into my fulfillment schedule, so it’s gonna be at least until next summer before I can fill up the special editions box like this for the general public. Campaign backers get first priority! Thank you for making this possible!!

I’m so excited to reveal this Zodiac Wheel illustration that I’ve been working on in the last few months!! Each zodiac sign was individually drawn with ink on paper, then brought together digitally in this final version.

This is also the largest print size I have yet at 50x70 cm. You can find it in my Bigcartel store.

LunaSol
Ink on paper

The illustration is based on the concept of alchemical marriage between the Sun and the Moon. The Sun represents the higher self or true will and the Moon represents the ‘lower’ self or ego, the self that experiences the physical reality.

Happy Taurus season!

I’m a bit late, i know. Taurus is my rising sign. How about you?
This illustration is part of my zodiac wheel. You can find it in my shop here: https://christineviolet.bigcartel.com/

“Both the Moon and silver are sensitive, impressionable and receptive bodies passively reflecting and forming colorless images from external sources of light.”

My newest painting, “Silver Chord” reflects my contemplation of the esoteric concept of a silver chord connecting our physical body to our astral body. I didn’t plan this painting from start to finish but let it unfold organically. It took a turn toward lunar light with a halo of sun emanating from the cicada, a representative of the earth element.

“The Beauty of Holiness”, oil on wood, 14x14.

Life’s explorations have led me to archangels, the first being, naturally, the peacock angel whose historical imagery and meaning has absolutely captivated me. Melek Taus is said to be an emanation of god, a benevolent angel who has redeemed himself from his fall, becoming a demiurge. The story goes something like this: Melek Taus was the first to emerge from darkness in form of the seven rainbow light. He first manifested as a rainbow around the sun and as a peacock sitting upon a pearl created by Lord Krishna. This pearl then exploded into the seven rays of rainbow to become the physical universe. From this array of colors, Melek Taus manifested from the color blue because blue is the color of the sky and heavens – the source of all colors. The remaining colors were then used to create the earth out of the substratum of the remaining pearl. Melek Taus blessed the earth with his rainbow peacock rays and endowed it with multicolored flora and fauna. He placed two pieces of the fragmented pearl above and below the earth. In one fragment he placed the sun, in the other he placed the moon. From the remaining scattered pieces he created the stars. I created this painting from imagery and colors received after deep meditation on this entity. In the future I plan to create more pieces using the literal imagery (rainbows!).

Expression of Machinery, 12"x12", oil on wood, SOLD

Number ten in my series on the nature of numbers represents the culmination of all numbers before it in which a work reaches its true completion and full potential then returns back to the monad, or number one, to start the cycle anew.

“The Lunar Phase of Evolution”, oil on wood, 12"x12" , SOLD

In creating this painting, I found the number which speaks to me most vividly. It’s essence is the Trinity multiplied three times. Nine represents the ultimate, perfect expression, the highest achievement in any endeavor. The Greeks referred to nine as “the horizon” as it lies at the edge of a shore before a boundless ocean of numbers that repeat in endless cycles the principles of the first nine digits.

“The Lunar Phase of Evolution” is currently on display at Confluence Gallery in Twisp, WA. Purchase inquiries may be directed to [email protected]

“The Black Lodge”, 12"x12", oil on wood, $450

I’m part of a group show called “Otherworlds” at Confluence Gallery where the final three paintings in my Numbers series are on debut. The show will be up through May 20 in Twisp, WA.

“The Black Lodge” explores the number eight which is associated with spiritual elevation or salvation. Creation results in the combination of the four elements; fire, water, air, earth with the four qualities that form them; hot, wet, cold and dry. Several ancient cultures embraced the concept of the grandmother spider weaving the web of matter, intricately crossing polarities, electrons and protons. Also, jumping spiders.

Number 7. The Heptad symbolizes the completion of a divine journey. The title “Rainbow Bridge” refers to the Buddhist term for the path traveled from the lower path the the higher path through the seven chakras. The imagery of the painting is mainly drawn from The Pythagorean concept of the Music of Seven Spheres, the musical vibration of the seven planets in ancient alchemy.

The fourth painting in my exploration of the nature of numbers.

In geometry, three points define a flat surface. The fourth point defines depth, volume, and 3-dimensional space.  Alchemy describes these four points as the four elements: air, fire, water and earth.

The Dyad describes duality and is born out of the Monad, or number one, in  replication of itself. The resulting geometry is called the Vesica Pisces, the shape which gives birth to every other form. “Two” embodies the nature of polarity: night/day, male/female, heaven/earth, on/off.

On view at Ghost Gallery through December 4th. Purchase inquiries may be directed to [email protected].

“My End is My Beginning” is the first painting in my series of work which explores the nature of numbers. The number one, or the Monad, contains the essence of the seed, the idea, nucleus and origin. It is the black void preceding creation. The ouroboros, or snake biting its tail, is an ancient symbol which represents the infinite constant cycles in nature, introspection and the eternal return.

My solo show at Ghost Gallery is on view until December 4th. 504 E Denny Way, Seattle WA 98122.
