I want to check interest in a possible project. If I spent the first 23 weeks of 2023 running a newsletter sending out a chapter of Frankenstein a week, for us to weekly Frankenstein like we are running daily dracula, except there aren’t any dates. It would just be a chapter a week sent out in order, would anyone be interested? We’d just read it together and fucking meme it like we are Dracula. Just really running with the Tumblr as a book club idea.
I’m right now just checking interest. This would be a lot of work so I’m not doing it if there is zero interest. So some sort of response beyond general likes that can mean anything would be lovely.
Putting this in the Dracula Daily tag. But I also want to tag @thebibliosphere because I feel like Joy is the ticket to making this happen. (Or at least find out if anyone wants it.)

No thoughts, just Sasha saying, “I’m gonna get Hamid, I can’t leave him in this place” and bolting back to save him, being the most persistent of any of the group in trying to convince Hamid to come with them in the first place.
Head empty, just depressed, hopeless Hamid only coming to his senses after hearing the robot telling him Sasha needs his help and bolting towards her. Hamid saluting the billboard, his promise to Brock to look after Sasha.

Usually the only things capable of dragging Grizzop into sleep are either exhaustion or a begrudging acceptance that he has to rest for his spells to replenish. Tonight, his adrenaline is miles ahead of exhaustion, and he’s not getting his spells back either way, since they seem to be in an anti-magic cell, so he’s awake when it happens–-one moment, he’s squinting into the empty monochrome beyond the bars, and the next, everything is…wrong.
Or: No one gets lost in Rome, but there are consequences to dragging your friends back through thousands of years–-namely, reliving quarantine over, and over, and over again.
Prologue
Sasha’s ears are still ringing from her bomb when the fight kicks off properly. The rush of adrenaline as the first assailant comes into view is somewhat comforting, but also starts a slight twitch in her right hand that she really can’t afford right now. She watches as Grizzop drops a soldier in one shot – can’t be a paladin then, to go down that easy – and buries three more arrows in another’s shield. His fingers are quick and light, gaze focused even as he hisses with frustration; Sasha breathes out, slow, and tightens her grip.
The shield guy seems focused on Grizzop, so Sasha digs her toes hard into the dirt and leaps the way she’s done hundreds of times before—and is blocked before she even gets halfway, thrown off with surprising ease. She drops to the ground ungracefully, instinctively curling up to defend herself from a swing, only to watch the blade go a full six inches wide of her, and then somehow miss Cicero as well.
Well, least he’s not good at both, Sasha thinks, and a moment later watches two arrows graze past the shield in quick succession, piercing the man’s flesh with a sickening thunk . He drops, and a moment later so does another soldier. Sasha allows herself a brief grin at Grizzop; he’s not looking, which is even better.
Then bloody Cicero has to run into the next room, and the real fight starts.

Oh My Word. I’ve already read the third one of these before and I loved it then and I love it now because like, obviously, Hazu and Hamid’s characterisation was perfect, that is exactly how that boy writes omg, “sun in my cairo sky” hamid you utter cheeseball I love him so much.
I HADN’T read the others before now and I love love love them too and I’m realising that it’s not just Hamid, you understand ALL of them so well, the first Sasha one made me CRY and the other one got me kinda close as well tbh. I can literally imagine her hunched over in some safe location scrawling out her feelings and vigorously crossing it out every time she’s written something too, and the way she keeps going ok various tangents is also so true to the character it’s literally just perfect. The likes “thanks for being a mate. Thanks for being my mate” and “you promised you’d he” destroyed me btw so thanks for that,
The Zolf one, also incredible, just such a perfect mix of brusque and heartfelt if that even makes sense? God he just means so well, doesn’t he? And it’s just - so so good. Love it. Absolutely losing my mind over it you built his whole story and everything, it was good. Thank you for these.
Perpetually humbling oneself due to lack of self-worth is borne from anxiety about one’s ideas being ridiculed. It is learned from past (and sometimes present) experiences, but I need you (and I need myself) to know that the people who honestly care about you won’t ridicule you. They won’t harm you in that way.
Itisunderstandable that you’re afraid to contribute, that you’re afraid of being overwhelming and too much because you’re just overflowing with ideas you’ve tried to keep contained. Anytime you open up about something, it sounds (to your ears) like a jumbled mess.
You tell yourself that your ideas are stupid, and don’t make sense, but really all it is, is you putting puzzle pieces together and there is SO much joy in that. Whether you’re doing it alone or with friends, there’s an innate joy in connecting those tangential, disjointed thoughts! Some things may not work, but in exploring that, you find others that may.
Learn to see the fun in it again, for your sake especially.
