alright i have the beginnings of a theory but i need help fleshing it out.
so. all of us here have one or two defining pieces of childhood media that turned us gay, right? and what type of gay we are today is dependent upon those pieces of media. i’m trying to catalogue us– i have three categories so far, with a few different things that fit, and there’s a sort of axis going, but i can’t work out the last category and i need y’all’s help what’s the fourth quadrant

All the updates happening behind the scenes are mostly non-visual such as fixes after 1.6 update and some codings and the like. There are some visual things happening, mostly animationings and sheets for enemies and characters in battle and out (along with animated cutsceney stuff, woo!).
It’s going to be some time yet untill we’re ready to really show stuff proper, but hang tight!
I’ve attached a WIP animated sheet of an Enemy Crow onto this update, please change the youtube speed to either 1.5 or 2.0 as that is how fast it should really go and also right click the video for loop.
We’re four days into the new year and its time for an update!
Most of it has been animationing and storyboarding and animatic-ing, where scenes where meant to be instead of a placeholder black transition : ). I’ve personally never done a fully drawn animated animation before so it’s being quite the learning experience.
Alongside story cutscene animations I’ve also been placeholdering other animations such as battle ones from idle to others.

The Weaver (US) / The City of Woven Streets (UK) by Emmi Itäranta

Eliana is a weaver in the House of Webs, one of the more privileged positions on her starkly segmented island. She’s also a secret Dreamer, subject to being taken away and imprisoned in the House of the Tainted if she’s exposed. The sudden appearance of young woman missing her tongue and with Eliana’s name tattooed on her palm draws her into the past of her island and the Council, what they’ve done to cement their rule and what they continue to take from their people.
Itäranta’s writing is absolutely beautiful to read. Each page has this whimsical feel that almost belies the cruelty on the pages, much as the island pulls a polished veneer over the horror and conspiracy at its heart. It was a little disorienting at the start; there’s no location or historical era ever established nor do I 100% understand the ever-changing webs that Eliana weaves even after finishing. There are just enough otherworldly elements thrown in to put the reader on edge, much like a dream where something is just the tiniest bit off. (I keep wanting to say that the book has “a dream-like quality” but that would be just a bit too cheesy, given the plot). Some readers have classed this as sci-fi rather than fantasy, and it’s definitely in that ambiguous range where it appeals to both, especially if you’re a fan of dystopian fiction à la The Giver. So if you like ancient secrets, breathtaking passages, and women realizing their power in a world that actively denies it, check it out.
