Gnolls, a race ranging from demonspawn to excitable hyenafolk. Gnolls are easily identified by their yipping laughter and voracious appetites.
Racial Attributes
Ability Score Increase: +2 Constitution
Age:gnolls reach physical maturity about the same age as humans and can live as long as 150yrs, but typically live around 80-90.
Alignment: gnolls come from nomadic societies that idealize chaotic demons and deities. They lean towards chaotic alignments.
Size: gnolls range from five to eight feet tall, averaging around seven feet tall.
Speed: your base walking speed is 30ft.
Darkvision: your time at night on the savannah has accustomed you to dark areas. You can see dim light within 60ft of you as bright light, and darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
Gnollish Instinct: you have proficiency in the Perception and Insight skills.
Bite: you are proficient with a bite attack as a natural weapon, dealing 1d6 piercing + your strength modifier.
Gnollish Diet: you have a different set of rules for your body when it comes to what you can eat. Raw meat does not have to be cooked, and you automatically overcome any save against rotted or difficult to digest food. Additionally, you have advantage against saves caused by poison, and are immune to the poison condition.
Languages: you speak, read, and write common and up to one other language.
Savannah Gnoll
You are a denizen of the savannah, one who likely worshipped the Celebrant. Savannah gnolls love festival and celebration and want all take part with them.
Ability Score Increase: your Charisma score increases by 1.
Festive Magic: you learn the cantrip Prestidigitation and the first level spell Faerie Fire. Charisma is your modifier for casting this spell, and once you’ve cast Faerie Fire you cannot cast it again until you’ve taken a short or long rest.
Aardwolf
The most nomadic of the gnolls, aardwolf gnolls know the land best and easily find the best (and safest) ways to travel.
Ability Score Increase: your Dexterity score increases by 1.
Savannah Nomads: Whenever you make a Survival, Perception, or Investigate check to forage into or related to the wilds, you may add your proficiency bonus to the roll. If you are already proficient, you may add that bonus again.
Fang of Yeenoghu
You are a demonspawn of the Abyss, with fur tinged white and claws stained black. You hunger for flesh at all hours of the day and are filled with unholy strength.
Ability Score Increase: your Strength score increases by 1
Rampage: if you would reduce an enemy to 0 hitpoints you may immediately move up to half of your movement and make a bite attack.
So it’s the last day of Mermay and I knew I had to draw at least one mermaid this month…..but then I saw this month’s Character Design Challenge is March of the Living Tree. And you know me and trees .
So this was me trying to cram the 2 themes together. A tree mermaid!
Good Evening, and welcome back. Parrish here; I took a month off to do take care of some other projects, but the last few weeks I’ve been busy behind the scenes for AoE. We have a new concept artist to help create the player character races of Alterra. Capi is from Saint-Denis, Réunion, off the coast of Madagascar. Capi specializes in concept art, and their style is a great match for Alterra. We’re not finished by a long shot, but I’ll be dropping our races here and talking about them one at a time. Tanooki- Diminutive Raccoon-like race that can turn into stone at will. Wiley, mischievous, and sneaky, tanooki are perfect for players who like getting into trouble and always having tricks up their sleeves to get back out of it. Their homeland in Alterra is a densely forested island, where they build treetop villages. Tanuki are a real animal, native to east Asia, actually more closely related to dogs than to raccoons. Japanese myths say they have magical powers, and bring good luck, especially to shops and restaurants. In Alterra, lazy/hungry tanooki will often wait outside restaurants in statue form until the restaurant closes and throws leftovers out. Observant diners realized that tanooki wait outside the restaurants that serve the tastiest food, so they patronized restaurants with tanooki waiting outside. Noticing this trend, shrewd restaurant owners began setting out hungry looking tanooki statues to fool diners. This only benefited the tanooki, because now if they’re ever in trouble, they can transform into stone, and passersby will just figure the nearest restaurant got a new statue. Btw- the two tanooki pictured are a brother-sister pair named Ruff and Tumble, created and played by @snickups
So I’ve been creating my fantasy RPG world, Ferlausen, for around… 3 years or so? And finally, after ages and ages and ages, I’ve decided to update the height chart for the most common intelligent species in the world! It’s been a long time coming.

The fourth is a goblin. They are a skinny, green-skinned, humanoid individual with very large pointed ears and large eyes. They are bald. Their feet are shaped like hands, and have a clearly opposable thumb. They are 3′ 5″
The fifth is a dwarf. They have light-to-medium brown skin, long, dark brown hair, and a thick beard of the same color. They are quite fat, with a boxy shape. They are 4′ 1″
The sixth is a crowfolk. They look like a very large, humanoid crow, with feathered arms and clawed hands instead of wings. They have a crow-like tail, a large sharp beak, and black eyes. They are 4′ 11″
The seventh is a hobgoblin. They have bright red skin, large pointed ears, and a small tuft of black hair down the center of their scalp. They have feet shaped like hands, with an opposable thumb. They are 5′ 4″
The eighth is a human. They are a black person with very short black hair and a somewhat muscular build. They are 5′ 7″
The ninth is an elf. They are an extremely thin, elongated humanoid with pale greenish skin and long dark green hair. They have extremely long and narrow pointed ears. They are 5′ 9″
The tenth is a catfolk. They are a bipedal, digitigrade cat with gray fur. They have dark grey stripes and their belly and inner parts of their thighs are white. They have a long, fluffy striped tail and claws. They are 5′ 10″
The eleventh is a dragonborn. They are a bipedal, digitigrade, reptilian individual with a long scaled snout and many sharp black horns extending from their head and face, as well as sharped curved black spines down their back. They have red scales, with yellow belly scales. They have claws, but do not have a tail. They are 6′ 2″
The twelfth is an orc. They are a humanoid individual with pale, bluish-gray skin and long black hair. They have a pair of white tusks protruding upwards from their mouth. They are fat and have a muscular build. They are 7′ 0″
The thirteenth is a giantkind. They are a large, dark-skinned humanoid with dark black hair worn in locs. They have a powerful, muscular build and brown eyes with no pupil. They are 8′ 8″
