“I saw my father’s lamp lit that night, well past three—I barely slept and I don’t think he did at all, and yet he still insisted on taking me to the fête because he saw that I was sad. He is so good and gentle—I cannot bear to remind him again. But you—you have seen it, too, Monsieur?”

“I have,” he said. “I have, and I did not sleep either; not for many nights.”

“Whowerethose men—the convicts? What happened to them—how did they come to be on those horrible carts?”

There’s a party of Municipal Guard in the rear of the barroom. This must be the usual haunt of the regiment barracked on the site of the old convent of Sisters of Mercy. They are at their ease here—stocks unfastened, blue sleeves rolled up, the white tunic fronts that tomorrow will be crimson with blood standing half-open. Officers all, heedless of their curfew, they dice lazily over the dregs of their wine.

Grantaire calls for a bottle, grabs a chair in his other hand, sets it down and straddles it at the end of the officers’ table. The one with the dice in his hand looks up, shrugs, throws a pair of sixes.

“Gentlemen!” Grantaire says. “A toast to tomorrow!”

In 1883 New York, Tony Stark, millionaire inventor, is a man of science, reason, and a sense of humor that other people sometimes even appreciate. That’s why he has no time for the latest popular obsession with seances, the supernatural, and the afterlife.

A drawing I made based on a great Malex fic I read recently. A lovely college au. You can find the first part at the link below.

Thank you neapeaikea for the story and the inspiration!

I loved this fic n part two seeing it develop from Alex’s POV was lush. Its really well written n tackles some of the insecurities n difficulties of their relationship from past childhood trauma. I hate Jesse Manes n it’s great to see Alex stand up to him. Thankyou for sharing ❤️

@smileygirl5 fic writer popping in ages later to say a humbled thanks for reading and liking my story! :D

This is just self-indulgent nonsense to the max. AND I LOVE IT!

I had this idea a while ago, and wanted it to be part of Just A Bit Of Foreverto show how Derek is making up for being an idiot and also how they’re both taking responsibility for the well-being of their relationship. But I couldn’t get it to work naturally within that story, so decided to make it a standalone that really needs no prior knowledge of the ‘verse. (It kinda bugged me that I had to create a new series on AO3 but it is a standalone piece, not chapter 2).

Truly, I had grandiose plans of them talking about their future and being communicative about living arrangements and the like and it just got so boring that I ixnayed all that.

But I did not ixnay Derek’s complete nerdiness, nor Stiles’ floundering nerdiness and honestly, this is like romantic and sexy and you know Stiles would LOVE it.

I understand some readers might get excited it’s going someplace, and others might back out because they don’t like it, but it’s not going to that place at all. I hope everyone can keep reading and appreciate the twist! I decided to not really tag for what happens, as that would give away way too much of the fun. The title is toootally a reference, tho. I got peeved at myself that I’d already used the title Unexpectedfora different fic! Oh well.

Anywho, enjoy! Feedback is lovingly drooled on!

This one is a little different, to me. It started as one idea, and evolved into something else before I just… didn’t know what to do with it. After a couple of months I returned to it and realized I had written much more than I remembered, and thought it had too much story to be left alone. So I shaped it into a third idea, if you will.

I’m not sure it’s the most fun or riveting story, but I enjoyed writing Derek as lost and confused about the next step in his life. I guess I figure a lot of people can relate to that. If only we had a Stiles to bring us some fun and kisses!

The first part is a bit heavy and can be uncomfortable to read, though it is in keeping with the tone of the show and there is resolution later on. I worried about it coming across as negligent and belittling of very serious situations that can be very traumatic. Instead of just forgetting it and acting like nothing happened, I made sure to reference the consequences of it throughout the story. IDK, I feel like too many times in fic, sitautions that mean real pain and horror are just glossed over and treated like minor events, when they can take a long time to process. Not that this particular event is meant to be that huge, more of a “Stiles getting in to shit again”, really. Honestly, the first idea was Derek first meeting Stiles when Stiles was hurt and then I agonized for days about how the fuck he could get hurt. I don’t think I’ll do it again. Sorry, Stiles.

One day I’ll write a longer The Eagle-story, but until then Marcus and Esca are a writing excercise for me. I’m very unsure about my writing for these characters, getting the tone right and understanding their reasoning and wants. It’s kind of daunting writing them when I feel so unsure, but it’s also really fun and challenging, and I think it’s good for me! For some reason they don’t “come to me” as easily as say Sterek or Pike/Tyler, I have to really consider whether they’d do what I have them do in the fics. Hopefully it makes me put more thought into my other stories as well.

This one I loved the idea for, about how Marcus’ injury affects their sex and how it impacts his confidence as “a man”. I would’ve loved to go deeper into that, but one, I have no idea about such things, and two, that would’ve left it hanging on my computer for another year and gone nowhere but a self-indulgent psychotherapy hole, so no. This is what you get, with a random xmas-ending ‘cos that’s where my muse took me.

Oh yeah, the title. Yeah, it sucks but like, it was so obvious everything else would’ve been too forced.

Fuck it, I wrote the fic I was thinking of as I watched the surfing at the Olympics. Inspiration very much struck down like lightning, an idea of Adrian competing with Deran nervously watching in the stands. It was great to write, ‘cos I’ve not had time nor inspiration in a long while, so I was doubly excited to have both and fucking went for it!

I usually give fic time to rest and myself time to consider edits, but I’m a Olympic junkie and absolutely want to post during the games, so this has only had two days. That means plotholes and grammar mistakes are probable, please excuse them! Focus on the excitement instead :D

For Deran to be in Tokyo, covid had to disappear, and to make it work somewhat with the show’s timeline, I moved the Olympics back to 2020. Meaning no restrictions to travel etc. I have huge respect and sympathy for the entire world affected by the pandemic and think it’s kinda crazy the Olympics are even happening at all in our dark reality so I truly hope this doesn’t come off as tone-deaf. It’s supposed to be a fun, fast fic with some cool dudes and not at all a reflection on reality.

As for the show, it’s canon divergent with all of S3 and S4 having happened except for Adrian’s storyline. Let’s pretend he and Deran were trying to navigate a healthier relationship but that money and drug use were creating obstacles on top of Adrian being away so much.

I hope you all enjoy! Again, I’ve not seen any of S5 so NO SPOILERS PLEASE :D

I forgot to post this here! I wrote a Piler AU, because ALL pairings deserve proper AU love!

This grew from a scene that didn’t even end up in the fic, and it was so much fun to write a fic where they’re pretty much just two ordinary modern day guys, falling into each other through happenstance. I still managed to nudge some seriousness in there, like hinting at Ash’s previous relationship, but it was a treat to write their rapport with each other, it just flows so naturally when writing them. They find each other so much fun to be around, it’s sickening :)

Who doesn’t like characters being stuck together and being forced to know each other? This is mostly set in San Francisco and I realized that having an elevator stop due to a quake isn’t completely outside the realm of plausability, so I went with it. But I apologize to anyone who has been in a quake, no matter the size of it, if it looks like I treat it too callously. I tried to be respectful of what is a serious situation, even if for this fic it serves mostly as backdrop.

Anyway, hope you like. IDK why the word count doesn’t show up on AO3, but it’s around 8k words. And the title is from that song, ‘cos it felt too on the nose to go with the song title.

I wrote something. IDK what I’d call this, sure there is very explicit sex, and talk about that, but it’s not porn so much as action to further the plot?

I had the idea of Derek finding out Stiles was a virgin the very first time they fucked, and it kinda went from there, how Derek would react, why they wouldn’t know each other previously, how Stiles would kinda be a dick about it. Like, he’s a twentysomething guy, he just wants to get laid. Then parts of the story turned into PSA’s about how sex, perhaps anal in particular, can actually hurt and it’s not all brilliant from your very first time with a stranger. It can take time, practice and patience before it becomes something really great. I know fic is escapism, but a little bit of realism is good as a counterpoint sometimes. Though I did scale back some of their banter, as it got very “frat” with an attitude towards sex that I’ve found many guys have but perhaps isn’t the most fun to read or deal with it.

IDK, I mostly liked the idea of them arguing about sex, while having sex. Plus, when struck with inspiration, one should always write before it disappears again.

The title seemed great, and I still love it, but it might give the impression of a very different story. Oh well. I hope this one is to someone’s liking!
