Trainee: “Okay, and what’s going on out there tonight?”
Caller: “This guy needs an ambulance I think. I’m not sure what’s happened, but he’s bleeding, um, profusiously.
You know at least one or two of them must be embarrassed. I like to think it’s an initiation and it’s only a matter of time before those flimsy strings give way…
104. The Rescue Squad - 1.6
Call comes up
Grab the keys and go
No matter what time or what you’re doing you go
Gets in the car blue light flashing
Parks car and jumps out
Throw the jacket on helmet in hand
Get in the truck
Sirens blaring lights shining
Pulls up to the heat
Water gushing
Running in when others rushing out
At home family waiting
Waiting for love one to come through the door
Smelling like smoke
With a story to tell
Waiting for the love one to return
But a fear always in the back of their heads that they won’t
Fear that the brothers will come knocking with a helmet in hand
Fear that, that was the last call.
Being a firemen’s daughter this is what some days are like.
