Gender Creative is a term for when one’s conception of their gender, or gender in general, intrinsically differs from the prevailing social norms. In particular, it is commonly used for when a child or teenager rejects gender norms and stereotypical expression, commonly seen in children who are raised without a prescribed gender (known as “gender creative parenting”).

my mom is also intersex - and she was bullied relentlessy. when her hair was short, her peers harassed her for “looking like a boy.” these same peers were violent with her. so, she’d almost always let the hair dresser do whatever they wanted, as long as they didn’t cut it short. and it never made her happy.

but after literal decades, she finally got a pixie cut. a haircut she wanted. she looked so bright and happy after getting it, and she looks much more like herself. it wasn’t “just hair” for her; it was healing and joy. and i’m sure for some intersex, trans, nby, and gnc people reading this, it isn’t “just hair” for you, either.

if you’ve been holding off changing anything about your appearance because of bigotry or dismissal: please know that no matter what, you have permission to do what you want with your body. i and so many others support you. it’s never too late to do what makes you happy.

Starting today, April 11th, you can designate “X” rather than “M” or “F” on your passport in the U.S.

Would you do it? What are the pros and cons for you?

Introducing F-A73 and Poppy Myung-Hee!

Femboys and tomboys should be included in the lgbtq+ community as a gender minority (yes even if it’s not a gender identity but a gender presentation)

You lot see a woman dating a camp or “effeminate” man and go “haha does she know she’s a beard” as if bi men don’t exist and don’t have cause to subvert gender norms/have a complicated relationship with masculinity, regardless of who they’re dating.

There’s also this implication that these women who date “effeminate” men can’t be genuinely attracted to them and are naive and oblivious towards their effeminacy. It a complete refusal to acknowledge that not only do gnc bi men exist, but women can be and are actually attracted to them. There doesn’t have to be settling or smoke screens in the relationship for it to work.

The “opposite” is also true! You see men dating “masculine” or butch women and people be like “lmao we know who wears the pants in that relationship” like
Let women date “feminine” men and let men date “masculine” women. It’s none of your business. Leave them alone. No one’s lying to anyone.

Both of the points are so *chef kiss* perfecto. Thank you!

Also straight people absolutely can be gender non-conforming. We really need to normalize that gender non-conformity isn’t just for same gender attracted people, nobody of any sexuality has to adhere to any gender norms. Gender non-conformity is for everybody.

Sexuality and gender expression are two separate things.
