I finally finished my take on these two in modern fashion clothes, and Calcifer bag ehehhe I had to give Sophie a cute pill box hat w her decora fashion mixed w hanbok top and obi belt, and really loved drawing Howl in a happi with his classic jacket pattern omg now I want one ✨ ((Also book spoilers is somewhere in this for those that read Howl’s Moving Castle the book)))

Charmain was forced to pick Waif up and back away, out of Morgan’s reach, so that all she heard next of the strange conversation behind the sofa was Mrs. Pendragon saying something about sending Twinkle (or was his name Howl?) to bed without supper and Twinkle daring her to “jutht try it.” As Waif quieted down, Twinkle said wistfully, “Don’t you fink I’m pwetty at all?”

There was a strange hollow thump then, as if Mrs. Pendragon had so far forgotten good behavior as to stamp her foot. “Yes,” Charmain heard her say. “Disgustingly pretty!”

“You see” said Howl. He swung out an arm and his black sleeve disturbed several hundred blue butterflies feasting on a bush of yellow roses. “We can cut flowers by the armload every morning and sell them in Market Chipping with the dew still on them.”

At the end of that green lane the grass became squashy. Vast orchids sprouted under bushes. Howl and Sophie came suddenly to a steaming pool crowded with water lilies.

Okay. I know I haven’t posted any art for a while, but real life has me barely keeping my head above water - combining being a solo parent with 50 hour work weeks doesn’t leave much spare time these days. But there’s an AU Mashup challenge on the Inuyasha Fanart Corner discord this month, and because I’m looking for excuses to avoid tidying my house on my day off, I did this super fast and messy sketch instead.

I’ve always thought that the Howl/Sophie pairing fit Miroku and Sango. He’s a pretty, irredeemable flirt who runs from his problems by making more and has a magical curse that is gradually taking him over. And she’s a girl left alone to run the family business who’s lost faith in herself after being targeted by a magic user with malicious intent. Together they help fight bad guys and find themselves and each other in the process. Sounds pretty close to me.
