fucking loathe watching some dean and jack interactions btw, not just because dean’s a dick but also he only treats jack nicely if jack does good. all they have to do is fuck up once and suddenly dean’s there to verbally beat the shit out of them, and the next moment jack kills a bad guy and it’s ‘hey champ! pats on the back! you deserve a hamburger!’ ?????? fucking STOP
it’s not even just the early seasons. he LITERALLY says “jack’s not family!” in 15x17 and then suddenly he goes “come on let’s go home and we’ll get you a big screen tv!” in 15x19.
you can’t even blame chuck for this shit either because chuck wasn’t even aware of the whole jack plan. this is dean and his fucked up parenting.

Right, that’s what I meant by “fucked up parenting”. I meant to say something more along the lines of “Dean and his bad childhood which included fucked up parenting” This is 100% all John’s fault, but that won’t excuse all of Dean’s behavior because he was a great “dad” to Sam.
I think a lot of it had to do with Jack being biologically Lucifer’s kid (aka the dude that stabbed Cas/tormented his brother), and not only that but their birth resulted in Cas’s death (in a way).
Again; it’s not all excusable. I think Dean’s heart was set on hating Jack, because I think loving the kid would’ve fucked Dean up more. He’s afraid to get his heart broken by a kid that’s somehow more complex than the angel (their father) that he fell in love with, yet with the same face.

,All the above and also I feel like Dean had an inherent hatred for Jack not because of anything really but because of Jack, Dean lost Cas for what he thought at the time was forever. His face was filled with so much hope and relief when that angel in 13x01 said “bieber over there can do anything” but then when she said Jack couldn’t bring Cas back he just wanted to Jack gone. Dean screaming at Sam about how Cas believing that jack would save the world was what got Cas DEAD!!! and he [Dean] couldn’t forget about it.Then jack brought Cas back and all of a sudden they are one big happy family playing cowboys.
Fast forward to s14 when Jack accidentally kills Mary and how Dean is legit done with Cas for defending Jack. Dean is my baby but I think he was lowkey mad that Cas chose to love someone else and he was scared that he wasn’t important to Cas anymore. And what happens when Dean is scared? He gets angry or suicidal or both. I think in his own way, he loved Jack.
Simpler answer: the writers just fucked up. I mean, they have had issues being consistent with John already..
What’s the point? The point? What’s the point of being a cosmic being if everyone I care about is just gonna… leave? What is the good of having these powers if I can’t help the people that I love, if I can’t help them when they need it? It’s selfish of me not to.
