A Masque for the Four Seasons - Walter Crane

We’ve had a few storms recently, with some very strong winds, a bit scary to be honest … I was so worried about our Polycrub and greenhouse. Thankfully both have survived the extreme weather beautifully, which is such a relief …

Also the snow returned today … we absolutely love it, but my chickens were definitely not impressed … poor girls. Even so, they’re being gracious enough to lay us lots of lovely eggs. I’d be lost without them …

Anyway, keeping our fingers crossed for a snowy Saturday, would be great to get the sleds out and have some fun … ❄️☃️

Hope you all have a great weekend …

With all the worry and uncertainty around Covid at the moment … I’m trying my best to just focus on the simple things. We were lucky enough to catch the sunset last night, which was absolutely stunning. Just took a few minutes to watch the colours wash over the sky. So peaceful and calm …

Please stay safe … X

Getting excited for Halloween, with a new addition to our wee homestead craft shop …

I’ve spent the last week helping my daughter to needle felt these cute little pumpkins. It’s really not as easy as it looks, and I’m still not a fan of the sharp and very pointy needles …

Anyway, I was truly amazed at how much time, effort and attention to detail goes into making each and every one. My hat goes off to her and all the other needle felters out there, it’s a wonderful craft and I think you do a brilliant job …

Ps: We still have a few available if you’d like to take a peek … just follow the link in our bio or pop over to ‘henrysays’ on Etsy.

The month of March has begun and with it marks the end of winter. Life will yet again prevail and find a way. Let us celebrate this years winter in Armenia with beautiful photography by the amazing Suren Manvelyan and with the poem ‘The Snow’ by the great Paruyr Sevak.

I love the snow,
when it falls down from the invisible sky
down to the sidewalks.
And swiftly, slowly there you go to wander.
Without knowing yourself, you go on to dream.
That, in life, is noble and flawless.

Arthropods and Crustaceans

aka Water Bugs! In the western civilization that’s typically not our idea of a lip smacking entrée. However, add some Cajun sauce, sliced potatoes, corn and sausage, boiled with 5lbs of Crawfish, and that’s just what you get. A lip smacking, shell cracking, disemboweling, finger licking water bug dinner. Sound disgusting or maybe even barbaric? Try both. Even so that…

A blast of light during an early winter storm. This was a difficult scene to capture, with all the elements fighting for space. I think this composition tells the story alright though, capturing both the season and the falling snow. Personally my favorite part is the icicles freshly stuck into the snow after breaking off during a warmer part of the day.
