Koboremame’s sweet snacks are thin and crispy - and they come with loads of peanuts.

The package design is really nice. By the way, small trivia: that peanut illustration on the middle is also the kanji for mame - 豆 (bean)!

During the Edo period (1603–1868), the more expensive types of candy, made with white sugar, were called jōgashi. In contrast, the cheaper candies made from coarse grain or starch and consumed by the common people were called dagashi. The types of dagashithat people still eat today were mostly created after World War II. Because dagashiwere intended for young children, candy makers came up with various ways to keep prices low, such as selling individual pieces of candy or gum. The shops that sell dagashi, called dagashiya, commonly offer such items as spiced or sweetened dried seafood, candy made from starch- or rice-based sweeteners, and processed foods with a long shelf life like colored or seasoned fruits of vegetables. Dagashiyawere popular among kids for offering a wide selection of low-priced items as well as raffles and candies with chances to win prizes. The stores could be found everywhere in Japan until the 1980s, but began to disappear as snack makers diversified their product lineups and convenience stores increased in number.

Would you look at that little polar bear and his watermelon hat (*´꒳`*)
This summer snack is a watermelon flavor gummy.
For those who don’t know watermelon is a popular summer flavour in Japan. This is not just because it’s tasty, but watermelons are actually a luxury in Japan. They can get very pricy so not everyone can afford one. Most people can afford watermelon flavored snacks though!
These were cute little gummies that look like sliced watermelon. They’re soft, with a texture more like a gumdrop than a typical gummy.
They were tasty too, with a sweet sugary coating, also like a gumdrop, and a flavour that reminded me of other melon flavored treats. I wouldn’t peg it as watermelon specifically, just a sweeter melon candy.
It was very good though and the packaging and presentation were so cute! I would absolutly get them again if given the chance (*゚▽゚*)
Do you like watermelon? What would you do if watermelons were luxury products where you live?

I got these cute little gummies in a snack pack from candysan! I was really excited to try these because I ADORE pudding.
When I first opened the package I thought “aww, these are so cute!!”
My second thought was “why do these smell fruity?”
The answer is that these actually aren’t pudding flavour at all. They’re actually a fruit flavour, almost fruit punch like rather than a specific fruit. They actually taste kind of like gummy bears which was kind of dissapointing to me. I love gummy bears, but when something is cute and looks like a tiny pudding, I’d rathe have it be pudding flavor. Not bad, just not what I would have wanted -_0_-
Do you think you would like these?

This is Shimi Choco Corn Milky Red Bean snack!
They’re Little star shaped puffs dipped in some sort of chocolate and dusted with red bean powder.
These have a much softer texture than a traditional corn puff which I think is due to the chocolate coating on the snack. It gives them less of a crunch and an overall more delicate bite. The chocolate itself is creamy and tastes kind of custard like which is super yummy!
The red bean flavor is lightly dusted on and very subtle thanks to the strong chocolate flavor. You get the subtle earthy notes without feeling like you’re eating spoonfuls of azuki beans. As someone who’s not huge into red bean paste, I loved this! It was just enough that I could enjoy the taste and enjoy I did o(^▽^)o
These are VERY sweet so I would probbably not make them a daily snack, but I could see myself eating them as a treat now and then!
Do you like azuki?

This is Rich Matcha Chocolate Sandwich from the brand Harvest. These cookies have matcha infused cookies and filling making them a good choice for a green tea lover!
They look like cute little waffle sandwiches and have a really pleasant green colour that’s actually more intense than the package would make you think.
The cookies have a simple, sweet cracker taste. Not quite a cookie but not a plain cracker either. Just sweet enough. And the inner filling has a really strong matcha flavour! It’s bitter and lovely with the distinct leafy taste matcha has. I LOVED it, but I’m also a huge fan of matcha green tea, and floral earthy flavors in general. If you’re not a fan of matcha, you most likely won’t enjoy this. If you are a matcha fan, I can’t reccomend this treat enough! It would be great with a cup of tea as a delightful snack (*゚▽゚*)

This candy kit is a Ramune candy maker from Poppin Cookin! This is a super cute kit! I got a forest themed mold which was adorable and I’m actually keeping it as a chocolate mold!
To make this you open the packs of powder and add a scoop of water to each one then stir with the wooden rod. Then you take the mixed red, yellow and blue powder and stir them to make orange, green and purple. The powders then get pressed in the mold to make whatever design you want. It’s very simple with the most difficult part being getting the powders into the mold which takes some patience. Overall, it’s very fun though!
The taste isn’t bad either. It’s all vaguely fruity and like a slightly moist ramune candy. Really not bad. I would still pick a pack of pre-made ramune candy over making it myself, but this is still good!
I actually think this candy would be really good for someone with small children. It’s simple and teaches mixing colours and basic shapes which can be helpful in teaching (*゚▽゚*) and if you’re an adult like me, I would still say this is worth a shot!

This snack is Calbee chips in a fairly unique flavour. Clam soup. I’ve never had clam soup, mostly because I don’t like eating clams. It’s always felt like eating dirty rubber to me. But I like seafood flavors and holy crabs do these chips provide that!
These have a super strong fishy taste that I would imagine a seafood soup would taste like. It’s salty and fishy and really good! An obvious flavour without being gross or overpowering the chip.
The chips themselves are a little thicker than a normal chip and they have a great crunch that’s almost reminiscent of kettle cooked chips. It’s actually a great flavour. I think these were limited edition, but I would honestly buy more if I could! If you like seafood you’ll like these as well!

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you’ve had a wonderful holiday! Today, I’m back with honey butter chips!
When I received these my first thought was the Honey Buddha chips from Mystic Messanger. I love that game and 707 was my favorite story. If you haven’t played, the character 707 keeps boxes of chips and practically lives off them as they’re apperently the best ( ・∇・)
Knowing this, I was fairly excited as this flavour was most likely what the games chips were based on!
These were slightly sweet with a flavour I couldn’t quite place. To be honest, it was fairly strange. Not bad like some things I’ve had but not great either. I really couldn’t imagine living off them like 707 does ʅ(◞‿◟)ʃ
It was worth trying but not something I buy again. It’s also something I would only really suggest this snack to people who know the game and want to try them because of it.

It’s another Christmas snack!
I actually got this product as a suprise gift from my last candysan order! It’s a Christmas umaibo! The packaging is super cute and festive
The one downside is I had no idea what flavour this would be upon opening it. It was a total mystery
Inside is a corn puff tube that was light yellow with green flecks. Once I smelled it, I had a fairly good idea what it was.
Corn Potage. A personal favorite flavour for any savory snack, Japanese or otherwise. From what I understand, it’s pretty popular in Japan.
I was totally right! Corn potage is a great taste. It does have a corn taste and is slightly sweet and slightly savory. It’s absolutely delicious!
I’m not sure if the Christmas edition of umaibo is on their site, but they do have corn potage flavour for said and I would reccomend trying it!

As we get closer and closer to Christmas, I have another treat that personally says Christmas to me
It’s pear hi-chew!
Pear has been a Christmas flavour in my house for a long time now. When I was little I asked Santa for a pear for Christmas just to see what he would do ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) Santa delivered and every year since he’s brought me a bag of pears for Christmas. This is why pear really reminds me of the holiday ╰(*´︶`*)╯
I picked up the pear Hi-chew in my most recent Candysan order. These are individually wrapped chewy candies simalar to starbursts but with a little stronger chew. This flavour has a pale green outer layer with a white inside, just like a pear!
The taste was spot on too! It has some extra sweetness, but for the most part it’s 100% pear taste! I might have to see if Red-kun can guess what it is without looking
Overall, I would really reccomend this. I know it won’t have the same Christmas nostalgia for everyone but the taste is worth it even without the memories! (о´∀`о)

It’s the holiday season and I decided to try this Christmas Edition of Shimi Choco Corn! It comes in cute packaging with a snowy Christmas tree on it!
The snack itself is a star shaped corn puff soaked in chocolate!! It’s wonderful! They’re slightly less crunchy than a normal corn puff due to the chocolate coat, but it still has a fairly nice bite. You taste a little of the corn but it’s mostly a chocolate flavour which is delicious! It’s just a really yummy airy chocolate that’s not overly sweet thanks to the corn. On top of that the star shape is super cute and very fitting for Christmas!
(*´꒳`*)
I would really reccomend this snack! Chocolate coated corn puffs get an A+ in my book.

These beauties are Chelsea butterscotch candy! The package is so pretty with the flowers and gold.
I thought these were soft caramels when I bought them so I sure was surprised when I popped a candy in my mouth and it was a hard candy! It’s rich and buttery and wonderful. To me it tasted like a homemade butterscotch sauce which I love! It was really yummy!
I would absolutly reccomend these! They taste really nice and are beautiful to look at. I found mine at a local Asian market but you can also find them on amazon if you can’t reach an Asian market (*´꒳`*)

Today’s sweet is LOOK Chocolate in purple sweet potato and chestnut.
Based on the package, I thought it would be one big bar with squares you can break off, but it’s not! It’s actually small individual squares of chocolate in a box like bonbons.
First I had to try the purple sweet potato since I personally love the flavor.
So I did. And all I got was chocolate taste.
It was kind of dissapointing
But I moved on and tried the chestnut.
Also, just chocolate.
I was really confused. There was a diffrent colour inside. Why could I only get the chocolate taste and not some of the other flavors?
Then I tried them a diffrent way. I put one in my mouth and let the chocolate melt. This time I got to taste the actual flavor!
Purple sweet potato was yummy! Subtly and sweet but really good!
Surprisingly though, I loved the chestnut. It was nutty (duh) with the kind of roasted flavour like peanuts with a yummy caramel on the top.
The only downside was that you couldn’t get the taste just eating the chocolate pieces. If there was less chocolate and more potato and chestnut it would be way better!
Do you like these flavours?

This was a super adorable and simple DIY kit. The package was super cute with a very princess-like Hello Kitty, lots of gems and filigree and plenty of pink! Just my style!
Inside you get the mixing powder (also in a very pretty package) a straw and a cute little cup! There are two designs and I got the one with Hello Kitty sitting in a heart which is the one I wanted.
To make the kit you just fill the cup with water to the line marked on it, pour in the powder and stir. The drink turns pink and foamy! I initially thought there may be something wrong with mine because it didn’t foam immediately but if you keep stirring it will happen eventually.
The drink itself was a sort of foamy peach soda. It was carbonated in addition to the foam and for the most part it was super sweet! The foam part had some tartness to it, but the drink was just a lot of sugar with a somewhat peachy flavor. That’s not to say it’s bad! I have a major sweet tooth so I actually liked it! But if you’re looking for a refreshing drink this isn’t for you.
Overall, very cute! I washed out my cup and I’ll probbably make pudding or parfait in it eventually. Definately a kit to try if you like Hello Kitty

I’m so sorry this next review has taken so long! My life has been crazy these past few weeks. I’m back now though with plenty more candy!
This is Super HimoQ! It’s a super long gummy rope in grape and muscat (green grape) flavour!
When I say super long, I mean it. It’s 126cm which is a little over 4 feet! Because of this, it’s super fun to play with. You can tie it in knots, wear it, or recreate famous Disney scenes with a loved one ☆〜(ゝ。∂)
It alternates between grape and muscat and both taste good. Neither has a particularly strong flavour, but it’s not bad for such a small snack.
Overall it’s a really fun snack if only for the novelty of a 4 foot gummy noodle (≧∇≦)

Sakura Saku Latte

This cute little bag of candies came in a previous Tokyo treat box. It’s decorated with sakuras and the little candies are shaped like the flowers as well. It was all very pretty and springy~ The candies come in 4 flavours which are Cafe Latte, Strawberry Latte, Banana Latte and Green Tea Latte all in coloured wrappers to match the flavour!

Cafe Latte-I opened this pack and IMMEDIATLY spelled coffee. It was so strong. The candy was Sakura shaped and a cute pale brown colour

Surprisingly it didn’t taste as strong as it smelled. It still tasted like coffee but was also sweet and had a creaminess to it. As someone who’s not really into coffee, I actually enjoyed this a lot!

Strawberry Latte-this one was very yummy! It was probbably my second favorite. It was sweet and had way more strawberry taste than I expected

Banana Latte- This one was immediatly the most confusing to me. Is there banana coffee in Japan? Of banana hot milk drinks? If so, that’s just odd to me. This candy initially tasted like just plain artificial banana. Nothing too suprising. Then it sort of developed a sharp taste the longer I ate it? I don’t know what it was but it made the candy just taste off to me (ㆀ˘・з・˘)

Green Tea Latte- this one was so good! I!ve never had a matcha hard candy before but this was sweet and creamy and really captured a matcha latte in candy form. It was sweet, grassy and floral and I honestly loved it. I want w whole bag of just these!

The candies were really good! I don’t often eat hard candies but these would be good to have around if you do eat them often!

Hello everyone! I’m back (again) from the dead (*´∇`*)

I’m not going to go into details as to why I was gone so long because honestly it’s not that interesting or important

What is important, is this.

This is a Sakura Jelly

It was actually given to me at work by a very sweet person who said she appreciated the fact that I’m always smiling at her (〃ω〃)

But this my friends is what brought me back. It reminded me that I have a backlog of candy and a bunch of wonderful followers waiting to see it reviewed.

This jelly was wonderful. The colour was so so cute and immediatly upon opening it, I was hit with the lovely smell of cherry blossom.

As far as taste goes, it mostly tasted sweet. It was nicely floral but that was more of a background flavour to the sweetness of the jelly. Nothing exceptional but tasty none the less.

I have no idea where to find these if you want to try them, as the person who gave this to me got it from a trip to Japan, but it was yummy and if you see them somewhere of if you’re traveling try them out yourself!

Thank you all for your patience!

It’s Hi-Chew caramel apple! I’ve been looking for these since I got the email about them and I finally found a pack at my local FYE. I don’t know if they were just not sticking them in stores or what?

So, the idea is that these have a caramel outer coat and an apple inside. Neat idea right? I expected the outer coat to be real caramel and the inside to be apple hi-chew

Nope. That’s not what it is.

The outside is actually caramel flavoured hi-chew. It’s dissapointing because it’s very obviously flavoring and tastes nothing like actual caramel. It actually tastes like sweetened play doh?

The inner apple but is delicious. It tastes like a normal green apple hi-chew and is tart and delicious!

This pack will be going to Red to finish since he’ll eat just about anything (-。-;

If you want caramel apple hi-chew, don’t spend your time searching for these. Just get a pack f apple hi-chew and dip it in caramel!

I think I found a new favorite candy kit!

This is the Poppin Cookin waffle kit and it is so so cute. I purchased this on my recent trip to Disney in the Japan pavilion in Epcot. I’ve never seen the kit in person before but luckily this one is in English!

You make these adorable heart shaped waffles with little cranberries and blueberry sauce and watermelon cream and it’s adorable! I really wish that I could have this kit as a full size meal.

This was very easy to make as well! You mix up the waffle powders and press them in the little plastic mold they give you. The cranberries are made by mixing the powder with water and putting the gel in little molds. And the blueberry sauce and watermelon whipped cream were both just mixed with water to make them. Super simple which left pleanty of time to make it look cute!

This tasted really good too! The waffles still had a odd texture, but the flavours made up for it! The toppings had really unique flavours too. I’ve never seen cranberry, blueberry or watermelon in a kit. Everything tasted delicious and I would gladly eat it again!

Would you like cute waffles like these?

Today I have a new Pocky midi flavour and it’s strawberry cheesecake!

It’s cute and pink and lovely (*´∇`*)

Pocky midi comes with 3 packs of 4 short sticks with double the chocolate of normal Pocky.

This. Is. Delicious. The biscuit is your normal Pocky biscuit with a delicious chocolate that tastes of strawberries with a tangyness I assume is the cheese. I wouldn’t neccisarily guess strawberry cheesecake, but it was still really good! Because of the cheese, it wasn’t overly sweet and had a more complex taste.

If you can get your hands on this I would absolutly reccomend it! It’s super yummy and makes a lovely snack ٩(^‿^)۶
