just neurodivergent things: when your teacher tell you you should spend less time on computer so you’ll have prettier handwriting, but you know not spending time on computer won’t change anything because you’ll still be Dyspraxic.

just neurodivergent things: when you’re too anxious to respond to an important message, and notification gets your anxiety going again every time you open your phone, but if you clear it you know you’ll forget about it completely.

just neurodivergent things: when you want to eat but you don’t want to eat and you feel a sensation you can’t tell apart in your stomach and you wonder whether you are feeling nauseated but want a flavor in your mouth or you’re hungry but can’t stand the thought of flavors and you give yourself anxiety over it until you cry.

just neurodivergent things: when you can’t tell if something is technically an ND thing or just a you-being-weird/lazy thing.

just neurodivergent things: that thing you did 5 years ago.

just neurodivergent things: not being able to tell if you’re dealing with your symptoms better now or if you just never actually had them in the first place.

just neurodivergent things: that build up of frustrated energy when you want to stim but can’t right now.

just neurodivergent things: apologizing repeatedly during a panic attack.

just neurodivergent things: not being able to process anything going on in your life and when you try, your brain stalls out.

just neurodivergent things: feeling both pleased and betrayed when your (admittedly also neurodivergent) friends call you “the stable one.” on the one hand, thank gods, the facade is working; on the other, (it feels like) if they cared, they could see through it to how bad you’re really doing.

i’ve started an instagram for this blog: @just_nd_things. i’ll be remaking some old posts to fit, starting with this one.

just neurodivergent things: making strange noises when you get excited.

just neurodivergent things: when you got so used to having suicidal thoughts that you don’t realize that imagining yourself dead or just kind of assuming that you will die young or sometimes feeling the impulse probably means you need help.

just neurodivergent things: feeling vulnerable when you don’t remember something.

just neurodivergent things: being unsure if your disorders are flaring up or you’re just exaggerating your symptoms for attention.

just neurodivergent things: when the world questions your OCD more than your OCD questions the world.

just neurodivergent things: not being able to tell if your feelings for people are platonic or romantic or if you’re just lonely.

just neurodivergent things: when someone you used to be friends with tries to commit suicide and you Need to be worse than everyone else or your problems aren’t Valid so your suicidal thoughts go into overdrive.

just neurodivergent things: losing your train of thought every five seconds, so when you try to have a conversation, you have to pause and remember what you were trying to say.
