Dairy Queen Thanksgiving Special -November 1974 - Leonard & Whitewright TX

Came across this randomly today… the internet is such a weird place.

I have enjoyed milkshakes and burgers at both the Leonard and the Whitewright Dairy Queens (jealous? ). I don’t believe they currently offer “Mexican Dinners” for $1.19, though.

Tumblr, feel free to fact check me on that ….

Imagine:
You saved Leonard from the Oculus explosion, and waited in the Med Bay next to him until he woke up…

*~*~*~*~*

Leonard groaned.

It was a small, nearly indiscernible sound, but you heard it. Loud enough to make you jump in your seat and reach for his hand. Almost instantaneously, his eyes fluttered open and fell in your direction. And once he saw the relief in your eyes, he somehow found the strength to smile.

“Hey, Snowflake…” He said weakly. “You been by me all this time?”

You smiled back. “What kind of girl would I be if I hadn’t?”

A slight chuckle came out. “You always were the clingy one.”

“Shut up.”

Though you had just gone through hell for the past eight hours, wondering if your kleptomaniac ass of a boyfriend would ever wake up from the explosion, you couldn’t help but smile.

If Leonard was okay enough to make sassy, sarcastic comebacks, then you knew that he would be fine.

But even so…

It pissed you off to a degree that you didn’t even understand.

While most girls would’ve been upset, terrified and worried, you sat by his bedside, seething with pure irritation that he hadn’t told you about his plan.

His stupid plan to play hero.

God, it could’ve killedhim.

Out of spite, you reached over and smacked his chest. Not hard, but enough to get him to release a small ‘oof’. He tossed his head back and groaned a bit, before glaring at you.

“What the hell was that for?” He asked.

You narrowed your eyes. “I swear to God, Len…”

“You swear to God, what?”

“If you play hero again, I’ll kill you…”

A/N:
Father’s Day Special, June 18

*~*~*~*~*

Imagine:
Leonard comes back home to 2016 and visits you and his son…

*~*~*~*~*

“So, how’s Junior?”

“Pretty rowdy,” you grimaced, as the mini-version of Leonard kept wriggling in your arms. “I swear to God, he gets it from you.”

A sweet, yet sarcastic smile splayed across his lips. “I sure hope he does.”

Pushing off the door frame, Leonard made his way across the kitchen floor and easily took his child from you, scooping him against his shoulder in an characteristically charming way. Almost instantaneously, Junior calmed down.

Releasing a much needed sigh, you ran your hand through your hair and crossed your arms. “Thanks.”

“No problem,” he smirked.

A few more moments of silence passed, before Junior finally fell asleep for the night. Leonard stroked his tuft of hair tenderly. “Think he’ll join the family business?”

You raised an eyebrow. “You mean, will he grow up to be a kleptomaniac?”

“You make that sound like a bad thing, Snowflake,” he smirked at you teasingly. You rolled your eyes prior to him shaking his head. “But no. I meant, do you think he’ll be a cop like you?”

Surprised, you blinked. “Baby Len, a cop?”

“Yeah,” he nodded, keeping his gaze steady on his tiny toddler. “I figured he should at least grow up right. Y’know…”

He gave a half-sure shrug.

“So he doesn’t end up like me.”

There was something in his voice - a slight ambivalence - that made you pause and stare at him. Though he avoided your gaze, he knew very well that you were watching.

You started slowly. “Hey, Len…”

“Yeah?” He refused to look away from Junior. “What is it, Snowflake?”

“Is something bugging you?”

There was a good chunk of silence that followed as you waited for his answer. Nothing but the sound of his nearly inaudible, low humming as he ran his hand up and down Junior’s back.

You didn’t pressed him though.

Instead, you waited patiently.

Based on past experiences, you knew very well that he was just trying to sort out his thoughts. The man hardly ever took a breath without planning out the next ten beforehand.

Just then, Leonard turned on his heel and started walking towards Junior’s room. You followed him. Pressing his lips to his child’s forehead, he gently set down Junior and covered him with a nearby blanket.

Junior wiggled his nose prior to shifting his form and lying on his side.

Then, the snoring started.

Leonard cast you a look, one that clearly shared his thoughts: Now, he definitely gets that from you…

You resisted the urge to roll your eyes. Shut up…

Leonard let out a soft chuckle.

“Y’know, I’ve been thinking,” he whispered so as not to wake up Junior. “As much as I hate my old man, there is one thing he gave me that I’m thankful for.”

You raised an eyebrow, completely caught off guard. Leonard never talked about his feelings, much less his own family; so, the fact that he was suddenly opening up to you - especially this early in the evening - meant that something was bothering him.

A lot.

You tilted your head. “What’s that?”

“My sister,” he answered in a definite tone. “Lisa.”

You couldn’t help but smile.

Several fond recollections passed through your mind as you remembered the brunette. While she did give you a hard time during your earlier years in the force, you and Lisa had learned to be decent towards each other.

Friendly, even.

Oblivious to your thoughts, Leonard continued. “If my dad hadn’t brought Lisa to my life, I probably would’ve ended up worse than I already am.”

You tilted your head. “How so?”

“Well, for starters,” the kleptomaniac cast you a humorless look. “Lisa showed me how to care for someone. Showed me how to care for you. If it wasn’t for her, I would’ve followed my dad’s footsteps; beat my wife, and used my children to do the same things he did to me. And that…”

He held up a wagging finger.

“…is  the last thing I’d ever want to do.”

A subtle frown settled on the corner of your lips. “Where are you going with this?”

Lifting up a firm, decisive hand, he grabbed your hip and brought you close. Surprised, you threw your hands up and steadied yourself against his chest, completely ignoring how cheesy the pose was.

You looked up at him.

In the dim, evening light, his eyes glittered like ice; though, the man you knew inside was nothing of the like.

You watched him carefully. “Leonard…?”

“Let’s have a baby,” he said decidedly. “Another one to keep Junior company.”

Though you heard the words loud and clear, it still took a moment for you to process his new, life-changing proposal. It was just so sudden,

Like,hell.

The man just got back from his time-travelling escapade a few hours ago, after disappearing from your life for a year.

And now…

Your brows furrowed. “Is that what’s been bothering you?”

The fact that he was afraid his son would grow up to be alone and unloved? That he would turn on his child and somehow force Junior to become a reflection of his darkest part?

It made sense though.

Prior to meeting you, the only love Leonard ever knew came from Lisa.

And he was trying to do everything he could to ensure that proper foundation was set and that there was no chance for Junior to ever stray down an unwanted path.

Leonard’s silence was the only answer you needed.

He stared at you intently, so much that it sent a shiver down your spine. Leaning down, he closed the distance between you until your lips brushed up against his. A handful of butterflies stirred in your stomach and tickled your insides.

God.

It’s just been so long since you’ve been with him. You wanted - no, you yearned- to feel the gentle heat from his body pass on to you.

But is it really the right thing to do? Frankly, you weren’t sure if you were ready to have another baby. It wasn’t just a decision you made in a split second.

You needed time to think.

As per usual, Leonard sensed your hesitation and pulled away - just far enough to observe you under his gaze. Your eyes grew wide, waiting for his response.

He let out a small chuckle.

“Look, ________,” he whispered, brushing your hair away from your face. “You don’t have to decide now. I get it.”

You pursed your lips. “But…?”

But,” he repeated, the mischievous smile growing more by the second. “I do plan to have you. Tonight. As my wife.”

Just hearing those words caused desire to pool at your center.

Leonard wound his hand around your head and laced his fingers through your hair. He brought you close and pressed his lips against your forehead, a tender action that practically melted you like butter.

Your skin tingling, your hair standing on end, you were fairly sure he was aware of all that he did to you.

Pulling away once more, he rest his forehead against yours.

“So,” he hummed quietly. “What do you say, Snowflake?”
