It’s been a while since I wrote something, right?
anyway, I wanted to write something without any pretension, just Harry being a father of teenagers. sorry for the mistakes, it’s been a long time since i did this, and i’m still getting used to it all again

“Dad,” James’ voice rang through the room, bursting the bubble that Harry was in. It was hard to have a quiet moment at home so he could just read a book, when all the kids were at home, arguing and yelling at each other.

Teenagers weren’t easy.

“Hello,” Harry put the book on his lap, looking at his son who was accompanied by Lily Lu, who didn’t look at all happy to be dragged along beside him. Great, another discussion that Harry would pretend to pay attention to. “What happened?”

“Tell her to stop being annoying please, I want to go out with my friends and she wants to go along!” James complained, while Lily imitated him without making a sound and rolled her eyes.

“I don’t want to go out withhim! I just want to go to the mall too. I don’t even need to be around him, Dad!” She stomped her foot, crossing her arms in annoyance.

“Why don’t you go out with your friends?”

“You know why!” Lily yelled back. Harry patiently placed a hand on his temples and massaged them, not knowing what to say or what to do; they had been arguing all day over things so small that Harry was considering locking the two of them in a room and only letting go after they got along.

“James, just take her with you, that’s all, it won’t hurt you and besides, it’s safer that way,” It wasn’t nearly the answer the boy wanted, but it was what Harry could offer right now.

When Ginny got home from her trip, he hoped to be able to take her out so they could have a adult time together and away from the kids.

‘’Ugh! Why doesn’t Albus take her!?“

’‘Please, both of you,” Harry stopped them before Lily could even open her mouth to retort. “Either the two go together, or no one goes!” They stopped, eyes wide and cheeks slightly flushed, watching their father with redoubled caution now. “You have five minutes to decide what you’re going to do. Otherwise, I would love to lie here on the couch in peace and read my book.”

Harry opened the book he was reading again, stretching his legs and pretending not to notice the silent argument that James and Lily were having as they walked to their rooms to get ready; He didn’t quite understand why they were fighting so much the last few days, even Albus, who used to start all the fights, was finding their behavior strange.

Maybe when Ginny got home, she could get one of them to talk about what was going on.

Spoiler; Lily Lu is dating one of James’ friends and he doesn’t like it at all.

dude as IF harry would say he wishes albus wasn’t his son. as IF harry would even let albus wish harry wasn’t his dad. harry grew up without love or affection, he grew up not wanted at all, and I’m just supposed to believe that he wouldn’t shower his children with all of that and more? harry is such a wonderful dad and even if his fame is annoying and he can be overbearing at times, his children know he loves them and they would never wish somebody else was their dad. I will never stop being angry over harry saying that to albus.

nobody asked so here’s what I headcanon james, albus, and lily actually being named. all the first names came from a list of shakespeare names lmao I don’t have a reason I just really like them :)

1. James Sirius Potter — Leonardo Henry Potter

Harry wouldn’t want to burden his child with both the name Harry and Potter, so Henry is the safest bet. Ginny actually came up with it, telling him that his great-grandfather’s real name was Henry and since Harry was named after him, it works. He goes by Leo and death glares the people who call him by his full name, though he’ll fight anybody who makes fun of his name.

2. Albus Severus Potter — Sebastian Arthur Potter

This was all Ginny. She talked for a long time with her dad about it, eventually landing on ‘we’ll pretty much name him anything that sounds good with Arthur’ and Arthur very much cried when she told him. He goes by Baz mostly or Seb sometimes but doesn’t mind people calling him Sebastian. He likes the way it sounds.

3. Lily Luna Potter — Luciana Lily Potter

Harry said ‘Luciana’ and Ginny swooned. He told her that he used to imagine having a sister who was named after his mother like he was named after his father and that since he didn’t get that chance that he’d like his daughter to be named after his mother. Ginny totally doesn’t cry when he tells her this. She goes by Ana mostly but Harry calls her Lucy and she allows it. She loves her name and thinks it’s very pretty, just like her mother does.

I hc January 18th to be Rose’s bday, so I drew Talia, Dominique, her and Lily to go with the 5th chapter of MMYP and her fancy birthday celebration!

As an Auror, Harry was never short on enemies, even a decade after the downfall of Voldemort. Unfortunately, sometimes his family suffered for his vocation. 

 Lily Luna came into the world four months early, after sustaining a curse in utero. 

The veterans of The Battle of Hogwarts had mentioned the lack of services in St. Mungo’s but it wasn’t until her own daughter spent months  on the fourth floor spell damage ward that Ginny realised the extent of the problem. 

Due to a lack of follow up, the Potters were forced to take Lily to Great Ormond Street Hospital in London, just before her second birthday. They used  Muggle aliases. There, a neurologist diagnosed her with mild cerebral palsy and epilepsy.   

It was then that Harry decided it was time to take matters into his own hands. 

Over time, Potter Manor became The Phoenix Medical Centre. 

Hermione did her research and discovered that most Muggle children developed Cerebral Palsy due to complications shortly before or after birth. Hence, the centre’s staff included midwives, who would monitor every stage of pregnancy. 

They had doctors, nurses, medics, therapists… Squibs, Muggle-Borns or parents of witches and wizards with a university education. 

Some of the many rooms in the manor were given over to a maternity ward, a nursery, a fertility centre. 

It had a pediatric ward, an adult ward where patients could be admitted for surgery, observation or respite. 

Out-patient services included rooms for physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, counselling, the fitting of orthotics and prosthesis. 

Services are provided as needed, free of charge. 

Every wizarding child is seen by their pediatrician on a yearly basis, to monitor all aspects of their development. 

All children and adults with disabilities are seen by their relevant specialists every six months. 

The evenings are busy too, with swim sessions in the hydrotherapy pool, a homework club for kids with dyslexia, integrated play-time for kids with autism a bereavement support group, meetings for witches and wizards struggling with addiction…  

It was a much-needed facility. It was a special place. 

This wonderful piece comes from @witchinawheelchair and is the perfect encapsulation of what I love about Harry Potter headcanons. We can take this literary world that we adore and shape it and grow it based on our lives and experiences. We make the Harry Potter world richer and more interesting, and this is a perfect encapsulation of that richness.

The team behind the HPCC Advent Calendar and HPCC Valentine are back (finally) to celebrate Albus, Scorpius, and Rose’s first day at Hogwarts! Let’s send the kids off to school with a bang.

What’s this?

Between the 1st and 4th of September there will be daily postings of fic and art, all back to Hogwarts themed, and from the HPCC fandom!

How do I get involved?

We’re looking for artists, edit-makers, writers, etc. who want to create an offering for our Nineteen Years Later celebration. You’ll create a fanwork, which can be anything you like, as long as it’s back to Hogwarts themed and uses HPCC characters.
If you want to get involved, drop us an ask before midnight GMT on Monday the 21st of August. Tell us whether you want to submit a piece of art or a fanfic, and if you want to write a fic let us know if you’ll need a beta. After that… get creating!
We are also looking for people to beta-read fics, so drop us an ask if that’s something you’d like to help with, and we’ll be in touch with more details after August 21st.

But I’m not an artist or a writer…

We’re also looking for prompts! Send an ask with a back to Hogwarts themed idea, and we’ll pass them on to any artists or writers looking for inspiration.

Rose: I read earlier that 1 in 10 people identify as LGBT+.

Hugo: Well, since there are 12 of us Weasley grandchildren, that would mean at least one of us is gay?

Lucy: I guess so.

James: Huh, I wonder who it will be?

Fred: Maybe’s it’s just Dominique - some past stats only say 1 in 20.

Dominique: That’s more down to stigma around it - those stats also don’t count young people, and since young people are increasingly more open, it looks like the number of LGBT+ people is increasing.

Louis: And she wonders why she’s the president of the GSA.

Dominique: I’ve told you about fifty times now, we renamed it ‘SAGA’ so it’s more inclusive.

Louis: Like the fact that we’re wizards and witches has nothing to do with it?

Lucy: Well, I like the new name, Dominique.

Molly: *pensively* Lily hangs out with that Ravenclaw girl an awful lot.

Lucy:Who?

Rose: -Daisy? That’s her cous-

Molly: I know! I meant Estelle, the Ravenclaw Seeker.

Louis: Bloody good one for her age too! We were in drills the other day and she caught the Snitch by grasping it with her feet! I could never catch that well, being a Beater is so much easie-

Fred: *changing the subject* I mean, we can’t assume anything - they’re only second years, and they could just be really good friends for all we know.

Rose: Yeah, they probably bond over Quidditch and Gobstones - nothing hot and heavy happening there.

Roxanne: Even so, Lily’s always been a bit of a tomboy, she’s never expressed any interest in dating boys before; just saying that I wouldn’t be shocked if she were the gay one.

Scorpius: Personally, I hope it’s Albus.
