FRIENDLY REMINDER THAT MANORIAN CUDDLES ARE CANON AND YOU’LL NEVER TAKE THAT AWAY FROM ME.

zoyalovesbooks:

thinking about Queen of Shadows and realizing how much Manon and Dorian have in common

I believe that when Manon met Dorian she saw herself in him and I mean the way he was lost and controlled by someone else… Manon was lost and controlled her whole life by her grandmother until she snapped… Manon started realizing more when she saw Dorian getting free from the Valg (end of QOS), thinking that she could do the same by the leash her grandmother was holding her from…

Manon may had the Thirteen by her side but she must’ve felt alone… she was so disappointed in herself when she learned that Asterin trusted Sorrel more about her pregnancy secret than Manon… she knew why Asterin didn’t trust her for that, rightfully so but still she must’ve felt different from her crew

I think Dorian made her feel the opposite because they had this in common… she knew he did things he didn’t want to and now had to live with them, so did Manon.

and yes ik that Manon had a choice but she was as scared as Dorian was when he was possessed

Prepare for landing

Manon is stuck on a plane next to an unaccompanied minor. A very talktive one, belonging to one single, sapphire-eyed father…

Manon had been waiting for this moment all weekend, finally able to sit down and block out the rest of the world, knowing she would be home in a few hours.

She’d been at a science conference for her job, and while she loved going to lectures and hearing about fancy new research, she hated having to talk to other people andpretending that she enjoyed it. «Networking», as her boss liked to call it, was honestly Manon’s worst nightmare.

Thankfully, she now had two full hours to herself on a flight that didn’t look like it would be too full, where she could read or sleep or just nottalk to anyone.

Closing her eyes, Manon simply listened to the quiet bustling of everyone finding their seats, hoping the one next to her would remain empty.

That was, until the voice of one of the overly cheerful flight attendants sounded much too close.

«Alright sweetheart, you can sit here, next to this nice lady, and if you need anything, just press this button and I’ll come!»

Oh, no.

Elide saw the sorrow on her face before she reached her. The dullness and pain in the golden eyes.
She went still. “Who?”
Manon’s throat bobbed. “All.”
All of the Thirteen. All those fierce, brilliant witches. Gone.
Elide put a hand to her heart, as if it could stop it from cracking.
But Manon closed the distance between them, and even with that grief in her battered, bloodied face, she put a hand on Elide’s shoulder. In comfort.
As if the witch had learned to do such things.

I don’t like it I LOVE IT!

Rowan’s last name is Whitethorn. Also known as the May tree. Aelin was born in May.

“Hawthorn, also known as the whitethorn and the May tree, is one of our most common native trees, and one that is steeped in legend and folklore.”

Bonus: one of the legends

Whitethorn (hawthorn) was considered a sacred tree. When it grows alone near the banks of stream, or on forts, it is considered  to be the haunt and peculiar abode of the fairies, and as such is not to be disturbed without risk, sooner or later, of personal danger to the person so offending,William Gregory Wood-Martin, Traces of the Elder Faiths in Ireland (1902).

One more bonus: Rowan is also a plant.

People also believed the colour red was the best protection against magic. Thus the rowan’s vibrant display of berries in autumn may have further contributed to its protective abilities. An old rhyme hints alludes to this: “Rowan tree and red thread / make the witches tine (meaning ‘to lose’) their speed”. The rowan was denoted as a tree of the Goddess or a Faerie tree by virtue of its white flowers. The same was true of the hawthorn and elder.

Conclusion: Rowan Whitethorn is basically “Plant Plant”.
