Your eyes moved over the crowd, frowning at all the people in front of you. You had been fighting all over for almost a year or more, something that would had never happened if you had just said no to Wuxian. But you hadn’t, so here you were.

Your eyes soon landed on a figure who was standing on the side, face hiding behind a fan as he seemingly looked around as well. Your eyes stayed on him as you watched him talk to someone, half of his face still covered with the fan. When Wuxian came around, he finally lowered the fan and you felt your heart skip a beat as you saw his bright smile. Biting your lip, you smirked and got up. You walked to the two, smirk still on your face as you greeted the two.

“I’m (y/n), Wuxian’s teacher.” You introduced yourself shortly, smiling at the smaller one while Wuxian whined.

“Don’t call yourself teacher, it’s weird.” He whined and you looked at him before sticking out of your tongue slightly at him. He frowned and you smirked again before focusing back on other one once more.

“So, who are you then?” You asked and he smiled at you, introducing himself as Nie Huaisang. You immediately recognized his name, having heard it from the citizens that lived there. The ruler who didn’t know anything, yet when you first noticed him he didn’t look stupid or dumb.

Hence now you were even more intrigued than before.

It was then that you looked closer at him. His robes were slightly creased, he looked slightly tired and his hair was in slightly messy braids. No way he’d slept well, if anything he had a nightmare.

“I’ll see you in a second, I have to find Lan Zhan!” Wuxian suddenly exclaimed, leaving you and Huaisang standing there awkwardly. You looked at Huaisang, seeing that he was staring back at you as well.

“You should take these, they stop nightmares.” You spoke, pulling out some round pills. He looked at you in surprise and you chuckled.

“I know from experience.” You said as you gave another smile.

“What is it then?” “It makes you calm and makes sure you don’t have nightmares. Wuxian, me and Sizhui all ate it before. Sizhui stopped after a year though. It stopped then, probably because he forgot all of the stuff that happened.” You mumbled, looking around. Huaisang looked at the pills in his hand before looking back at you.

“Why do you have nightmares..?” He softly asked, afraid that it might be a touchy subject, but he was extremely curious now. You just shrugged.

“Demonic cultivation tends to do that, I guess. Most of the time it was screaming and gore. Though it changed to killing after I met Wuxian and the Wen clan.” You explained, not really minding sharing the information. He was still a bit confused with what you meant, but when he thought about his nightmares about his da-ge, he somehow understood. Silence took over again for a few seconds before you spoke up again.

“Honestly, this is kinda boring… Wanna get out of here?” You asked, a smirk on your face. He matched your smirk and nodded. You looked around for Wuxian, but seeing him stuck with Jiang Cheng, you decided that you should just leave without telling him.

So you both sneaked out of the party, which wasn’t proven difficult as most people didn’t know you and didn’t seem to care that Huaisang walked past them, although you two did receive some weird looks.

After some minutes, you entered the forest behind the mansion. It was slightly darker already, but light enough to still see your surroundings.

You just walked in silence, watching the animals around you such as fireflies and deers. Than Huaisang spoke up.

“So, how did you and Wuxian meet?” “On the mountain. He screamed at me for 15 minutes before fainting from his wounds. When he woke up, he punched me on accident. Quite a day that was.” You chuckled as you watched Huaisang’s face drop at your story.

“He punched you?” He asked and you nodded, stopping and pointing at your nose, which was slightly crooked with a small scar in the middle.

“How about you? Any scars from Wuxian?” You joked, not expecting Huaisang to actually nod. Your eyes widen as he pointed at his ribs, making you slightly blush at the area.

“I fell while we were trying to catch fish.” He explained, making you chuckle before you stopped walking. Looking around, you frowned.

“I have no clue where we are…” You mumbled, not recognizing any of your surroundings. Huaisang stopped next to you, looking around as well.

“Neither do I…” He replied and you groaned, throwing your head back in annoyance. Your eyes wandered over the forest again before you froze, staring into 2 jet black eyes.

“Huaisang, climb in the tree over there.” You whispered and he looked at you before following your gaze.

“Is that..?” “Run!” You shouted as the beast sprinted your way. Neither of you had swords or any other form of protection so climbing a tree was your best shot. You ran in between other trees and towards the biggest one, hearing the trees behind you snap because of the beast.

Just when you had climbed the tree, you felt the nails of the beast graze your skin, leaving a small trace. You continued to climb until the beast couldn’t reach you anymore, sitting on the place where the branches connected.

“You okay?” You asked Huaisang and he nodded, sighing as he leaned against one of the branches. You did the same, trying to ignore the distant growling beneath you and the chilling cold that started to freeze your body. After about 2 hours, the beast was still stalking underneath the tree and both you and Huaisang were shivering from the cold. Your stomach had started rumbling about an hour ago and your throat had gone completely dry by now.

“How long do you think it’ll stay for?” Huaisang whispered and you shrugged, wrapping your arms around you in some form of warmth.

“It depends… Some only have an attention span of a few minutes, others have one that can last for hours. Let’s just hope for the best I guess.” You mumbled back and Huaisang gave a small whine, which you found adorable.

“Cold?” “Extremely.” He answered and you chuckle before letting out another sigh before biting your lip, slowly shuffling closer towards Huaisang.

“Body warmth can help alot.” You smirked, watching his face go red before sitting right next to him. He looked at you, still blushing immensely and you smiled.

“Sorry, but it’s the truth. Be glad I’m not asking you to take your clothes off even though it’s more effective.” You spoke, smirking at him once again. You didn’t think he would be able to become more red as he was, yet his face blushed even worse. He avoided your gaze, but didn’t move away from you. Soon, he was genuily clinging to you to gain any way of warmth. You had your arms wrapped around his shoulders as his were wrapped around your middle, but he was still shivering softly. Luckily, after another hour in this position you could hear the beast stalk off. You looked down to make sure before nodding at Huaisang that you could climb down. And then you slowly made your way back to the party, which hadn’t ended surprisingly. Most people (aka the Lanling Jin clan) were already slightly drunk and didn’t pay any attention to you. Other people on the hand, looked as you entered again.

Now, you could understand Xichen look of slight horror as both you and Huaisang’s clothes were messy and your hair was tangled slightly from the running and the small wound on your back, clearly knowing something bad happened but you gave him an okay sign to calm him down. To others on the other hand, it may look like something else completely. And who would believe your actual story?

So you ignored everyone and instead went straight to the food and drinks, chugging down enough to fill you but not too much since it would be bad for your stomach otherwise.

“Where on earth did you go and why do you look like you fu-” Lan Zhan placed a hand on his soulmates mouth, preventing him from finishing his sentence. Although you still knew what Wuxian would say, you’ve know him for long enough to know his thoughts.

“Forest and no. We got attacked.” You explained and Wuxian raised an eyebrow suggestively, his mouth still covered.

“Don’t even… You know what, forget it.” You mumbled softly, grabbing a knife from the table and twirling it in between your fingers. You glanced at Wuxian before you stabbed your knife on the table, right in between Wuxian’s fingers. The elder jumped up in surprise, retracting his hand quickly before looking at you in shock.

“Shall we start on your secrets then?” You glared at him and he shook his head, gulping awkwardly as his eyes glanced to Lan Zhan, who had already busied himself with his elder brothers questions.

“How about the fact that you still hasn’t told him your feelings, even though you have a child together.” You said, eyes moving towards the young Lan discipline a few steps away from you. Your eyes darted back to Wuxian, raising an eyebrow at him suggestively and he blushed slightly.

“You ready for that battle?” You teased and he sneered, sticking his tongue out teasingly. His eyes then moved to the figure behind you, looking like he had found his next victim in Huaisang.

“Hey, Huaisang!” He exclaimed, moving to the younger before freezing when you grabbed his ear.

“Leave him alone.” You mumbled, letting go before turning to Huaisang yourself. “You feeling better?” You asked and Huaisang looked up before nodding.

“Yeah, good thing we didn’t freeze to death out there.” He mumbled and you chuckled, elbowing Wuxian softly when you heard the beginning of his comment, which would most likely be a little vulgar. He gave you a soft glare again before stepping away from you and back to his crush to which you gave another comment of ‘Do it now, he likes you back anyway!’. Then you turned back to Huaisang, who was looking back at you.

“Next time that we’re cuddling, let’s not do it in a tree and rather in a bed or such, alright?” And without waiting for a reaction, you walked away with a smirk and left behind a flustered Huaisang.

Yes, you two had definitely fallen in love.

thursdayafternoons with nie minjue

  • it isn’t often that you find yourself having a hard time at work
  • the small cafe that you work at as a barista at,
  • is not usually busy
  • and honestly, the hard work that you’re dealing with
  • isn’t something that’s particularly hard
  • it’s just…
  • hard on your attention span
  • because the man that had ordered a caramel machiato
  • and taken the nicest window seat at the cafe,
  • just in the perfect line of the cash register that you’re manning
  • was absolutely breathtaking
  • his entire muted grey and deep green ensemble,
  • suited him just as well as the outside scenery backdrop he was in front of
  • and you were having a hard time listening to the orders that you were supposed to be taking
  • especially when your coworkers have to swat at your arm more than once
  • but you can’t be blamed,
  • not when a man as handsome as that was sitting in the perfect place for you to stare at
  • and honestly
  • when Nie Mingjue sips the drink from his mug,
  • hides his smirk behind it
  • perhaps he knows how much you’re looking at him
  • too

a mdzs character each day of the week

wednesday evening after class, with lan wangji

  • the evening night is chill in autumn
  • but warmer, is the presence that always waits for you when you finish your classes
    • walking out of your lecture after a long day,
    • and seeing Lan Wangji sat, reading a book on one of the seats in the hallway
    • is a sight that gives you a lot of momentum
      • now that september has creeped in, and the night gets dark faster, easier
      • it feels nice to have company on the walk to the train station
    • you walk up quietly to Lan Wangji’s sat form, as he seems quite immersed in whatever it is that he is reading
    • and when you get close enough,
      • you give a small kick against his shoes
      • Lan Wangji looks up immediately,
        • though the cold look in his eyes warms ever so slightly when he sees that it is just you,
    • “did you wait long?” you ask him, when Lan Wangji finishes putting his book away and standing up
    • your companion silently shakes his head,
      • and holds his hand out as he does
      • you smile at Lan Wangji, taking off your decidedly heavy backpack for him to carry for you
        • although Lan Wangji was cold,
        • his actions were more than warm
          • especially when he accompanies you all the way to your destination
          • his presence by your side
          • chases all the cool autumn air away

a mdzs character each day of the week

tuesday mornings with nie huaisang

  • mornings were quite the hassle for both of you
    • between your usual lateness
    • and Huaisang’s natural forgetfulness
      • you both were quite the duo
  • being roommates, you both know each other’s schedules/routines quite
    • firstly (mainly) so that you guys don’t annoy each other
    • secondly, so that you guys can help each other out
  • and even though you’re room mates with Huaisang,
  • sometimes it feels like you’re his mom
    • “did you bring everything? have your keys?” you ask as you’re standing in the foyer, watching Huaisang try to stuff his feet in his shoes as quickly as possible
    • while the messenger bag that he has looks like it’s two seconds from toppling over and spilling everything out
    • “probably,” Huaisang tells you and you can’t help but laugh at him
    • “i told you, i have a dinner tonight; if you’re getting locked out i’m not opening the door,” you tell him and Huaisang pouts at you,
      • then quickly stands up and fixes the bag on his shoulder
    • “all the more reason for me to stay out later right? if we come home at the same time i won’t be locked out?”
      • idiot, just bring your own keys,” you tell Huaisang, pushing him gently as you both make your way out of the apartment,
        • even then,
        • when you’re just finishing locking up the door, you hear the (expected) startled yelp as Huaisang launches himself onto your back
        • “i forgot my water bottle!” Huaisang yelps at you, and you turn around just to give him an eyebrow raise
        • “well you’re going to have to deal with being thirsty all day,” you tell him, hooking your arm around his neck as you drag him away from the apartment
          • though you prove yourself a great room mate ( a great friend)
          • when you hand him an extra water bottle as you both are sitting waiting for the next bus

  • working at the same company with one another, in the same department,
  • you tend to see Lan Xichen very often
  • you didn’t think that you would ever get a chance to get close to him though
    • because aside from being the most handsome man on the team
    • he was a seasoned senior of the company as well,
      • had better things to do than make friends with new hires like you
      • but you learn of the kindness of this senior
      • when would help you out on project proposals, at the first ask
      • stay late with you on some nights when the workload was a bit too much for you to handle
    • and from all those little occurrences,
    • you both develop a nice friendship
      • which is why mondays, don’t feel quite so bad
        • because mondays, are when you get lunch with Xichen
        • it’s the time in his schedule that coincides with yours the most
        • and you both can meet each other on the break,
          • go to that salad bar or any new place that Xichen has been eying
            • and it wouldn’t be a date per say
            • but it’s just, comfortable
            • you’re both comfortable with one another to smile and laugh and have a shared time with each other like this
          • sat in front of Lan Xichen,
          • watching his ‘sacred’ process of drizzling the dressing on his salad with ‘just the right amount’,
            • “it’s quite an important part, y/n, don’t laugh” Xichen would tell you when you make fun of him
              • and mondays, starting the week with Xichen make everything better

  • you hold onto Jin Ling’s shoulder tightly as you continued,

        • and overall a great time with this man
          • will also offer to blow dry your hair for you as well
            • and you can’t ask for anyone better

Nie Mingjue

  • it will be quite the learning process with him
    • he’ll be frustrated first with how you’ll sit in the tub and how he’ll sit to reach the water and that takes a good 15 minutes
      • then the water temperature
      • “that’s too hot! it’ll burn your scalp” when you tell him to warm the water a little more
    • and then how much shampoo and how much conditioner and what not
      • but after that, in the settled quietness of him just rubbing the products into your hair
      • he’s a lot more gentle than you expect him to be
        • not that Mingjue isn’t gentle, you know very well his softness when it comes to you
          • but he massages every spot on your head (and down to your neck) as if to map every place of ease for you
            • you’ll probably learn the reason why some time later on
        • but for now,
          • he washes as dilligently as he can
            • get’s a little bit of soap into your eyes
              • and a bit of water into your ears
              • but his effort, you appreciate tenfold

jiang bros carrying you to bed

✧・゚: *✧・゚:* Wei Wuxian *:・゚✧*:・゚✧

  • Wei Wuxian had never quite liked to sleep early,
    • finding his ideas flowing the best in the late hours of the night
    • Wei Wuxian is used to the tightness that sometimes accompanies his eyes on long nights of scroll reading,
      • drafting this, drawing that
  • and with you to bounce ideas off,
    • it is easy for the hours of night to pass and blend away,
    • for so much discourse and thoughts that make him wish that sleepiness were not a human feeling
      • but alas it is,
        • and when Wei Wuxian had returned to the room with a new warm brew of tea,
          • with the intent of continuing his late night talk with you
        • he finds you fast asleep, head pillowed on arms that had finally given up the weight of holding your head up for the past hour or so
          • (Wei Wuxian knew you had been sleepy, but somehow, loves the sight of you almost reanimated as you talk about new to cultivation techniques and everything he had always been curious about)
        • Wei Wuxian is quiet when he approaches your sleeping form, tempted to shake you awake
          • a small probe of your shoulder, tells him that you are truly deeply, asleep
            • judging from the greyish hues of the sky,
            • it would be morning soon anyways
      • Wei Wuxian turns back to you, curious as to how you could possibly be comfortable
      • and before he really thinks about it (thinks too much about it)
      • he maneuvers your sleeping form into his arms,
    • your head falls onto his shoulder, fitting right under his chin like you were always meant to fit there,
      • and your breath is soft and warm as he carries you the few short steps to place you on the bed in the other room,
        • Wei Wuxian watches with a funny kind of fondness when you snuggle into the pillows as he pulls the blankets higher up on your chin
          • finds that when he returns to sit at his table and closes his eyes
            • he sees you in his dreams

✧・゚: *✧・゚:* Jiang Cheng *:・゚✧*:・゚✧

  • above you both, the sky stretches out like a dark blanket,
  • bits of embedded stars glimmer
  • and the world seems so vast in this moment
  • it is a sight to behold
    • and the day’s tiredness bleeds away from his shoulders,
    • when Jiang Cheng sits at the open port,
    • with you leaning close to him,
      • staring up at the same sky
      • you, the person that had always extended a hand to him,
        • tried to see what he was seeing,
        • what he meant,
          • the person that always met him in the middle,
          • even at times, when he didn’t always walk towards you
        • you never gave up on him
      • and it was a gradual but deep reassurance
      • that came over him like the way snow falls to the ground
    • “i love you,” Jiang Cheng says, a testament, a confession that finally comes out of his mouth after years and years
      • Jiang Cheng says it in a bit of an absent way, only because he doesn’t know how you react,
      • scared that everything will change with this one step too far
        • but when Jiang Cheng hears nothing, and turn to the side
        • he only see you, eyes closed, head resting warmly on the side of his shoulder
          • it makes him smile despite himself,
          • and although the night sky is beautiful, the changing seasons make the evening a bit colder than usual
            • so even though you don’t hear those words from him (yet)
            • you receive an action with the same meaning,
            • his arms coming up to gently cradle you, and carry you away from the ports back to you room,
              • where each step is quiet, mindful, not to wake you
                • and when he tucks you under the covers, it is with more care than anyone has ever expected of him
            • but you (only you) know
            • that Jiang Cheng has more than enough love
            • more than most would know

how these mdzs characters would take care of you on your period

⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚ Wen Ning ˚୨୧⋆。˚ ⋆

  • surprisingly, or not, i think that he would be quite good at this
  • not just because he has an older sister
    • (so he has experience~)
  • but also because his demeanor is so calm and soft almost always
    • so he’d be the greatest person to deal with you when your mood swings hit
      • and also would be patient enough to go to the store and get you the exact brand of chocolate that you were craving that particularly hard day
    • and an extra plus would be how prepared he is
      • with his heat packs,
        • soft pillows,
          • extra blankets and all
  • he really does take care of you in the time where you aren’t your best
  • and deals with everything that gets thrown at him (from names, to pillows) graciously
    • and when you’re feeling better after your cycle’s finished,
      • you easily can easily return the favor

⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚  Nie Mingjue ˚୨୧⋆。˚ ⋆

  • way out of his depths
    • i think that one of the hardest things for him, would be to see his loved ones in pain
    • like that alone sets him off
      • but
      • well,
        • periods are usually painful
    • the first time he sees how much pain you’re in, he’s actually so seriously concerned that attempts to drive you to the ER
  • but after being together for a little over a year now,
    • he’s gotten to know about this aspect of you better
    • still doesn’t make his heart ache any less when your cramps are so bad that you have to lay in bed all day
      • but he does his best
      • and he really does pull through,
        • even when you ask him to do what you thought was nearly the impossible
      • “is this it?”
        • laying in bed you hear the crackling of the phone as your boyfriend is probably rummaging through the whole feminine care aisle at the store, looking for your pads
      • “yea that one,” you tell him, surprised that he actually found it,
        • “alright, just wanted to make sure”
          • and you realize that Nie Mingjue really does pay a lot more attention to you than you thought
            • “you’re the best,” you tell him, as he’s walking to the front of the store,
            • from your facetime, you see the smallest hit of a smile on his face before he says,
              • “get some rest, i’ll be home soon,”
            • and really you couldn’t have asked for a better boyfriend

Wei Wuxian

  • you don’t like fighting with Wei Wuxian
  • because he’s just stubborn
    • and he’s a lot louder than you
  • so when you guys fight, it takes a toll on you more than it does him
  • usually when it came to disagreements with you two it was usually this:
    • when he was overworking himself,
      • “you’re tired,” you state bluntly, to his back
      • Wei Wuxian bent over some scroll on the table, uses his first tactic which is ignoring you
      • you sigh, going up behind him to take his scroll away when his arm comes up to block you
      • you take in an annoyed breath as a soft tussle breaks out between both of you,
        • that ends when you manage to push his scroll onto the floor,
        • his eyes are ablaze when they turn to meet you,
        • “y/n,” he says your full name,
        • “wei wuxian,” you reply just as evenly, feeling his warm grip on your wrist,
      • the silence between you both is cold
    • and he’s not usually easy to rile up
    • but such turbulent emotions were part of the demonic cultivation
    • as you both are trading words between one another, his grip on your risk grows tighter as the words grow louder
    • and it’s really only when you let out a surprised yelp of pain that he realizes he’d hurt you
      • Wei Wuxian drops your wrist like burned,
        • doesn’t forget that your eyes aren’t brimming with tears from his tight hold
        • rather,
          • who he’s become

Xue Yang

  • ironically verbal fighting with him tends to manifest into actually like sword fighting
  • cause he’s the type to go, “okay, let’s spar, if you lose, you listen to me”
    • “and what if you lose?” you answer back
    • and he’ll simply shrug
      • and sure, arguments over who should hang the laundry,
      • what to buy at the market
      • little things,
      • can be decided like that
        • but not when arguments are bigger, more serious, like…
    • “this is wrong,” you tell Xue Yang, standing to the side as you watch him pack the poisonous powder into his small back pack,
    • “they deserve it,” is his terse reply
    • “but you’re not god, you can’t decide whether they get to live or die-”
    • you see Xue Yang is beginning to leave
    • and in a last ditch effort, you grab his arm before he can truly turn away from you,
      • “please, don’t do this,” the tears sting your eyes, but you don’t dare to let them fall,
      • Xue Yang turns around
      • he blinks at you, takes in the look on your face
      • then he moves your hand off of his arm,
      • turns away without looking back,
        • because you were naive to think
        • that just because he was good to you
        • that he would be a good person

lazy sundays with jiang cheng

  • sometimes,
  • when the quiet around you is just right,
  • the sun light is filtering softly through the open window,
  • and the warmth in his arms is just perfect
    • Jiang Cheng doesn’t want to leave the bed
      • even when it’s well into the late hours of the morning
    • “at this rate we’ll miss lunch with your brother,” you mumble, your hand warm where it’s laid on his chest
      • you both had been awake for hours already,
        • but laying with you in his arms
        • and the scent of your hair, tickling his chin
        • Jiang Cheng hadn’t wanted to move
      • with both of your busy schedules throughout the whole week,
        • him in his intern at the law office
        • you with your grad school work and classes
      • moments like this when you both get to lay next to each other like this,
        • warm
          • were hard to come by
    • “still sleepy,” Jiang Cheng says, turning to pull you even deeper into his arms, as if that were possible
      • you can’t help but laugh with his movements,
        • snuggling in close
        • falling so easily for his persuasion
          • “wei wuxian is going to be so mad at you,” you tease him, one final reminder of your appointment
            • “hmm, he’ll finally have that date with lan wangji that he always wanted,” jiang cheng replies
            • and you actually laugh out loud
            • the breath that you puff out against his thin shirt,
              • warm,
              • happy
                • spurs him to place a kiss against the crown of your head
                • you both don’t leave each other’s arms for the rest of the day
