(ontwittertoo!)

i love dragonji to bits but also. what if. dragon wwx. he deserves it!!!

An old sketch of mine from an au idea I had based in the modern world where everyone in mdzs has their own YouTube account and wei wuxian is a witch-tuber as well as a streamer, doing random little videos all over the place.

I was thinking of adding in charactets from SVSSS and TGCF as a type of cross over but I don’t know yet mjght just keep it to the MDZS universe

Alluring Secret - Black Vow AU

The wingless fallen angel surrendered himself to the contract of evil. In the past they even loved each other, he ended it by his own hand.

A stray heartbroken angel wandered in a town at dusk…

Wei Wuxian groans, the injury he took from those dastardly evil Wens sends sparks of pain through his body; as an angel, he isn’t used to bleeding by a wound on his chest or overall pain, yet he won’t complain about it, the devils’ Wen’s brand that now marks his skin came from protecting his heavenly sister Jiang Yanli. It hurts, but he will take this pain every day over the alternative, better him than his precious Shijie.

Wei Wuxian looks up, in the heavenly realm there’s a war going on, the demon’s race known as the Wens raised against the pure heavens on the orders of the devil himself Wen Ruohan, only thanks to his informants, a pair of half-demons Wen, they could put up a battle against the evil beings that believed themselves superior.

Of course, not everything went according to plan’ he mutters as another wave of pain knocks him down, the thing with the demon’s marks is that they are not only skin-burning, but they also release a slow-acting poison that eats an angel’s powers away, with Wei Wuxian’s level of heavenly cultivation, the poison should run its course in a few days instead of outright killing him, with an insane level of pain instead, but at least he will live

“Fuck!” he groans as he stands up, he needs to find Wen Qing to get the antidote soon. The sooner he gets cured, the sooner he can go back to battle

Came across by boy with beautiful golden eyes

Wei Wuxian walks to the end of an alleyway and finally collapses on the ground, the bleeding barely stopped but the pain keeps going to unbearable levels, his breathing gets more and more laborious. Just when he is about to pass out, he hears footsteps coming his way, at first he is not too worried, humans aren’t supposed to see them as heavenly beings they are, still, his beautiful white wings try to cover him up with little success

“Are you alright?” a deep yet soft voice sounds over him, Wei Wuxian paralyzes for a second, no one is supposed to see him, even in this vulnerable state he’s supposed to be invisible to the human eye! Cautiously the angel looks up to the most gorgeous pair of golden eyes he has ever seen, distantly he thinks the ethereal man gasps, but Wei Ying can’t hear it very well over the sound of his own heart beating loudly practically on his ears

Wei Wuxian is a very popular angel, he is acquainted with at least half of the population in heaven (or at least he likes to think so), but even so, he would remember if there was an angel as beautiful as the man in front of him. As silver meets gold, his heart starts beating faster for an entirely different reason than the poison in his veins; he can feel a distinct heat over his face and he is pretty much certain that he is blushing. How pathetic he can be to fall for a human in this situation?! Nie Huaisang and Jiang Cheng are going to have a field day with this!!

“You can see me?” is what his mouth says unhelpfully

“You are bleeding” the gorgeous human gets closer to him, his pristine white robes touching the ground, the unknown man’s hands are in his line of sight now, slender and large fingers motioning at him “Let me help you”

Wei Wuxian feels himself nod and his hand reaching out before finally succumbing to the poison and passing out

This is just a little something I had in my “stories” file, hope you enjoyed it and if you’d like to read more about it let me know, you may actually rescue me from my writer’s block! :D

Continuation of this

The Yiling Laozu and the Yiling Wei Sect were called to war three months after the Sunshot Campaign started, but in truth, Wei Wuxian joined the efforts against QishanWen quite early

It all started during the last trip to move the Wen siblings to the Burial Mounds when he and Meng Yao happened to pass close to a certain cave that reeked of resentful energy; of course, as the grandmaster of the Demonic Cultivation, the young Wei Wuxian had to investigate. It was good that he had trained every person that came to live in the Burial Mounds to withstand and protect themselves from the resentful energy, or Meng Yao would’ve passed out when they reached the underground lake

“A turtle” Meng Yao deadpans seeing the monstrous creature that thrashes around trying to break Wei Wuxian’s shield

“Ah!” the 14-year-old kid realizes “Popo talked us about this! The ancient turtle… uh… the Xuanwu!” Meng Yao remembers the story about the semi-divine turtle, the Xuanwu of slaughter

“Great… now what?” he crosses his arms, he has his own sword forged by Wei Wuxian and himself, but if a thousand cultivators couldn’t kill this thing, what makes anyone think that two kids can? they can’t. At least not with spiritual energy

Wei Wuxian considers it for a moment, the Xuanwu has a lot of resentful energy, but it is not the most he can feel inside the cave. One perk of being adopted by the Burial Mounds as a whole (after almost dying 2 times but who is counting?), is that the ghosts and the fallen gods taught him to use both spiritual and resentful energy, so he mastered both paths when he was 8 (those two almost deaths don’t count!!), so he does what he knows best

In another world, he would’ve wondered if it was possible to use the victims against the executioner, in this one he does exactly that. ‘There’s not much love for the semi-divine turtle here’ he thinks as he raises the ghosts of centuries of victims against the creature, effectively killing it. In doing that, he also discovers a black sword, full to the brim of resentment

“You think Subian will feel replaced?” he jokes as he tries the sword, he can feel the thrumming of energy, and distantly he can hear the screams, though it’s nothing like the Burial Mounds back when he first entered. Meng Yao takes a look without getting too close

“I think Chengqin will feel threatened” he counters, and sure enough the dizi is letting a small tendril of dark energy out in displeasure. Wei Ying chuckles

“Aw it’s okay” he pats the precious flute that he so painfully carved day after day so many years ago “I still have to purify and tame this one, will see if it can be used later”

After taking one tooth as a trophy and some other parts for experimentation, Wei Wuxian and Meng Yao seal and hide the cave, writing purifying symbols in the wards to ensure the cleansing and rest of all the poor victims of the demonic turtle

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Three years later, Wen Chao drags the heirs all over the mountain, trying to find the mysterious prey some say there’s on the mountain but without success. When the unsuspecting heir tries to enter a warded cave for the fifth time, the backlash is so strong Wen Zhuliu has to take him in arms to rush back to the city to a healer, of course, the hostages heirs take this chance to escape.
Nobody knows who or what put such an impressive ward in a normal-looking cave, but nobody asks, they focus on getting back to their respective sects safely
One month later, the Jiang Sect is saved from full destruction by remarkably similar wards
Surface Pressure
Wei Wuxian is the strongest disciple in all the Yunmeng Jiang Sect, he was even granted the title of Head Disciple when he was 12 years old!
Sometimes Madam Yu berates Jiang Cheng for this, for not being strong enough, for not being better than the son of a servant and a rogue, but even this doesn’t happen often, even so, Jiang Cheng will always feel bad for not being enough at his mother’s eyes and he will be feeling down for the rest of the day the few times that this happens
Wei Wuxian tries to not feel too guilty about it because he doesn’t have a choice, he has to be stronger, faster, smarter, and better than anyone else! He has to train harder than any other disciple, to meditate and expand his Qi beyond his own limits, to develop his golden core more and faster than any of his peers.
Because if not, he can’t protect his family
Because if not, he’ll be weak and disposable
Because he is blind
He wasn’t always blind though, he was born with beautiful, seeing, silver eyes that looked at everything around him with deep curiosity… But then, during a night hunt, the monster that took his parents from him also landed a direct hit to his head and eyes.
Even so, the change wasn’t immediate
Young Wei Ying spent a few months on the streets before his sight began to deteriorate, with good medical treatment and a strong golden core he could’ve been cured… but instead, the stress, danger, infections that his small developing core couldn’t fight, dogs, multiple injuries in all his body (in his head) and the non-existing medical care finally robbed him from his vision just a year before Jiang Fengmian found him
By then, the healers of Lotus Pier couldn’t do anything to reverse the process, the kid had lost his eyesight, he was blind. The medical team couldn’t do anything about it, but they still taught him to “see”; they taught him that by using his Qi in his eyes, he could see the spiritual energy of every living being, and the more Qi he used, the more Qi he had, the better his “sight” was.
So he started his ridiculously hard training regimen
At first, Madam Yu had grumbled about him once or twice, but in all honesty, it was kind of her fault
After the leaders learned about the kid’s blindness, the woman, in a few moments of pure spite, hate and bitterness, had threatened the child to throw him into the streets again if he ever proved to be a weakness for the Sect.
She never really meant it, but the kid always took it seriously
Everyone in Lotus Pier knows about it… the reason why their Da shixiong is so strong, Jiang Cheng might be dissatisfied with himself for being weaker, but he never is bitter about his brother being stronger. He understands that Wei Wuxian needs the strongest golden core to be able to see
Also, it’s almost impossible to be mad at him, even if he is mischievous and appears to be arrogant at times, Wei Wuxian is also bright and fiercely loyal, and, how can Jiang Cheng be seriously mad at him when the kid keeps stumbling and crashing against trees and walls and overall being clumsy as hell??
He can’t, that’s how. And not only him, but the entirety of the Jiang Sect is really protective of their Da shixiong, they try not to show it out of respect, but really they can’t help it!
Especially Jiang Yanli! She is the most overprotective member of the sect; even if her cultivation isn’t strong, she has become the resident master in the healing arts and protective talismans
Both she and Wei Wuxian spend hours inventing dozens of talismans and arrays together; it was something that Wei Ying came up with in the first place (“It’s alright if you can use your sword shijie, look! today they taught us about this talisman, but I thing that if you invert the symbols…”). Wei Wuxian invents hundreds by himself as well, most of them are ones that make his life easier: a communication talisman, Qi infused paper so he can read, a talisman to help him with directions, etc.
While he and Yanli are masters in talismans and wards, he and Jiang Cheng are masters at archery. Whereas Jiang Cheng is actually the best archer at any given moment, Wei Wuxian can only shoot and hit marks that have some sort of spiritual signature, normal kites, or targets he can’t see them.
In the cultivation world much is said about the Twin Jades of Gusu Lan, especially in the north. In the south though, everyone talks about the Three Lotus of Yunmeng Jiang, with the emphasis on the Head Disciple of the sect; everyone says how bright he is, how genius and strong he is. No one says he is blind… because no one knows.
By the time the disciples go to Gusu for the lectures, the three children have a fearsome reputation. They arrive a week early, to let Wei Wuxian get used to the place and learn to navigate it, no one says anything about it
Wei Wuxian doesn’t have any problems being blind, he is already accustomed to it and he is even a little proud of what he has accomplished even with his condition, but there are times, such as this, that he is a little more than annoyed about his spiritual sight
Wei Ying takes one step inside the wards around Cloud Recess and instantly he has a massive headache. He felt the energy from the outside, but he never expected it to be this bright!! The Jiang siblings look at him concerned and take him to the healers (the Jiang Sect only tell about Wei Wuxian’s blindness to two people: the Lan Sect Leader, Lan Xichen, and the head healer Lan Hui)
Afterward, in the middle of the night, Wei Wuxian wakes up for some reason and he can’t go back to sleep. So, feeling restless, he goes for a walk (adjusting his Qi to lessen the brightness of Cloud Recess), only to get lost in the next few minutes; at some point, he takes a turn somewhere and crashes, head first, into a cultivator with the purest, most bright and beautiful spiritual energy he has ever seen
His breath actually hitches and he is pretty sure he is gapping and possibly blushing
He opens his mouth to say something, anything, when the stranger beats him to it
“Venturing out at night is prohibited in the Cloud Recess”
And that is how Wei Wuxian meets the second Jade of Gusu Lan, Lan Wangji
Sanctuary
Wei Ying was 6 years old when he entered the Burial Mounds and it adopted him. By that time he had been fighting dogs for scraps for a year and a half, and it was one of the same beasts that drove him to the outskirts of Yiling, we kept wondering out of curiosity and hope that he might find a place to stay, a place where he could be safe, a place where he could belong.
He found it
.-.-.-.-.
Meng Yao was 13 years old when he and his mother arrived at Yiling, his father had tossed him down the stairs of Koi Tower, and after an incident in the brothel they couldn’t stay in Yunping, they had no idea where to go, but Sisi helped them
“The rumors say the Yiling Laozu can help,” She told them as she put all her own savings in young Meng Yao’s hands “that he can fulfill any wishes for the right price”
Meng Yao didn’t believe that, but they had no place to go and in any case, Yiling was far enough of Lanling and Yuping so he worked and worked until he and his mother were able to afford the trip. He kept working along the way, hoping to be able to afford whatever price was needed to ensure his and his mother’s safety
When they reached the base of the mountains, of the Burial Mounds, they found a little shrine, they had discussed that one of them hide in case things went wrong, but in the end, neither he nor Meng Shi wanted to leave the other, they only had each other now
So they walked and reach the shrine, there was an unnatural amount of dark fog, resentment the other cultivators they meet on their way called it. Meng Yao noted the very second they stopped being alone, he tensed and his mother bowed next to him, pressuring him to do the same
“Yiling Laozu, we, humble servants come to you to ask for your protection” his mother’s voice was firm even if a bit rough from the new disease that was starting to take root in her lungs
It did not pass a full minute until a small figure stepped out of the shadows, if he wasn’t an expert in keeping his emotions in check, Meng Yao would’ve gaped. In front of him was a child, one a few years younger than he himself
“What sort of protection do you seek?” He asked them with a childish voice
Meng Yao was 13 years old when he and his mother went looking for safety.
They found it
.-.-.-.-.
Xue Yang was 5 years old when he was tossed into the Burial Mounds, the man had tricked him to give a letter that only resulted in him getting beat up, after, the same man tried to get rid of him, he would’ve succeeded and possibly hurt him badly, but then, the kid made a scene
“YOU ARE A BAD MAN!!!” the child yelled, making everyone turn to look at them, the cultivator, Chang Ci'An flushed embarrassed, even if the kid was a street rat, it was still a small one, it started to look very bad for him “BAD MEN LIKE YOU WILL BE PUNISHED!! YILING LAOZU WILL COME FOR YOU!!” the brat screamed one of the most common threats he heard in the alleys. It had been roughly two years since people started whispering about the shadow demon that roamed the Burial Mounds and controlled the fierce corpses that tried to get into the town
The cultivator flushed bright red, both from embarrassment and also from the secret fear he felt, for he too had listened to the rumors and stories
“You want to meet Yiling Laozu? Then so be it!” he grabbed young Xue Yang from his collar and mounting his sword he flew as fast as he could until he was over the mass grave. For a moment he paused, feeling the doubt creeping in, it would be easy to just toss the kid in Yiling, where he couldn’t bother him anymore, but then the kid started to spit out insult after insult, making the rage reach its peak “Tell the Yiling Laozu I send my regards” he sneered as the let go
Xue Yang had a moment of pure fear as he fell, then, the darkness engulfed him
Xue Yang wakes to the kind face of a woman, she reassures them that he is alive, that he is safe. He is inside a shack, inside there’re also two young men, one looking at him with slightly apprehension and the other with open curiosity
“Welcome to the Burial Mounds” the curious one chirps, he has silver eyes and a sunshine-like smile
Xue Yang was 5 years old when he was tossed into the Burial Mounds. Once, he hoped to find a family
He found it
-.-.-.-.-.
Wen Qing was 17 years old when she arrived at the Burial Mounds to ask for help
She was from a branch of the Qishan Wen Sect, her family resides in Dafan Mountain, a few years ago, her uncle, Wen Ruohan had killed her parents because they refused to make poison for him. Since then, Wen Ruohan took her and her little brother under his wing, threatening her compliance with the safety of her brother and extended family.
Wen Ning was barely 10 years old when they started to listen the rumors, the ones about a shadow roaming Yiling, then, a demon who fulfilled wishes; then, about people starting to willingly enter the Burial Mounds. Wen Ning turn 13 years old when his older sister decided to take them there
When Wen Qing turned 17 and her brother turned 13, she had a vision. Nothing dramatic or prophetic, she just saw her uncle’s actions, and, logically followed them until she reached her conclusion: War.
At some point, not too far, the sects would go to war against Qishan Wen, and whoever won would take over her family. Wen Ruohan had them already under his thumb, he could send them to fight at his own whim, without caring if they live or die; the other sects could decide all Wens were guilty and torture them or kill them. Either way, they lose. Wen Qing didn’t want that future for her family. So, taking advantage of a night hunt she goes to Yiling.
The entrance of the Burial Mounds doesn’t look as grand as Wen Qing would’ve imagined; there’s a rundown shrine with offerings, a dark fog surrounds the area, she represses the shiver the resentment gives her. After a few minutes, a figure emerges from the darkness, Wen Qing tenses, even if the young man looks barely older than her brother, anyone who manages to live inside a mass grave is considered as dangerous according to her
“Yiling Laozu” she says as she bows as low as her dignity allows her “This lowly healer come to you seeking for your help”
“How may this Yiling Laozu be of service?” the kid gives a tentative bow
“I seek refuge for me and my family”
In the end, it takes six months to move the Dafan Wen to Yiling.
Wen Qing is 17 years old and Wen Ning is 13 years old when they entered the Burial Mounds looking for protection
They found it
Mo Xuanyu was 5 years old when his mother brought him to the Burial Mounds
His mother was the second young mistress in the Mo Clan, she was 15 years old when Jin Guangshan approach her. The “romance” last roughly two years until she got pregnant; the young Mo girl truly thought that Sect Leader Jin would come for her, for his son at least, but her dreams were crushed by Madam Jin, who she stumbles upon during one night-hunt she was having with Madam Yu. By then, Madam Jin had the ability to accurately recognize her husband’s bastards, which was what happened with young Xuanyu when he was playing in the town
The Madam didn’t chase her out of the village, but she might as well have when she almost laughed at the promises Guangshan had made to the young girl in front of the Mo manor. After the cultivators left, her older sister Mo furen, kicked her out of the house, calling her a disgrace for the Clan
The pair of mother and child then walked and walked, looking for someplace to stay, somewhere warm and dry… but there weren’t many places like that that wouldn’t try something more perverse with a young, beautiful, desperate mother. During the travels, the young mistress heard the tale of the Yiling Laozu, the demon who fulfilled wishes and took strays under his wing, there were talks and rumors about a new Yiling Wei sect, but nothing concrete, the only things that were consistent were that the Yiling Laozu could fulfill wishes for a price and that the Burial Mounds now was a place for the ones who didn’t have a place to go. So young Mo Ning took her child and made her way to Yiling
The mother and the child were hovering in the outskirts of Yiling, near the shrine where offerings and hunt requests were placed. She was unsure of what to do next, the dark fog was very intimidating; her nerves were such that she didn’t notice the young man walking towards them
“Hello” the polite man saluted her, she flinched and hastily bowed to him “Are you perhaps looking for the Yiling Laozu?” he gave them a smile that looked friendly enough, at least his dimples made it look friendly
“Yes gongzi” she bowed as low as she is used to as the daughter of a servant, her child clumsy follows her. She didn’t see the wary look the man gives to her son, also recognizing the Jin genes “We hoped to ask for a place to stay, at least until my son is older and can provide for himself… I am the daughter of a servant so I can pay our stay with work!” she hurried to add
The young man contemplated for a second before he moved to raise her from her bow
“It’s alright guniang” he reassured her “Come on, follow me” he instructed as he started to walk towards the dark fog
Mo Ning took her son’s hand tightly and did as instructed
Mo Xuanyu was 5 years old when his mother brought them both to the Burial Mounds in search of a new home
They found it
Meng Yao is 19 years old, Xue Yang 10 years old, Wen Qing 20 years old, Wen Ning 16 years old, and Mo Xuanyu 7 years old when a letter arrives to the relative new Yiling Wei Sect about the start of the Sunshot Campaign
Wei Ying, courtesy name Wuxian, master of demonic cultivation, Yiling Laozu and Sect Leader of Yiling Wei, is 17 years old when he closes the wards surrounding the Burial Mounds and goes to war
Is the first time Wen Qing receives a petitioner, the Dafan Wen have been living in the Burial Mounds for almost a year now, along with all the other refugees and rogue cultivators that have arrived at the place, there are enough people in the community to actually be called a sect, so she, Meng Yao, and their Yiling Laozu have been working together to formalize it. Is good that Wei Wuxian has such a reputation as a granting wishes demon since most of their first night-hunts requests came that way, so after dealing with a certain number of fierce corpses, vengeful ghosts, and restless souls, the town of Yiling started to acknowledge them as cultivators, and their time as a proper sect began. Is also thanks to that, that Wen Qing and her family were able to start working as healers in town (giving the chance to the old one to finally retire)
Among the multiple hours of paperwork, organization, farming, and healing, the Yiling Laozu keeps granting wishes. It’s really not as divine or demonic as it may seem, is just Wei Wuxian having or inventing a talisman or array for almost everything and accepting any stray that comes wandering to their dark, foggy gates; every now and then others from the sect will let them in Wei Ying’s place, like a few months ago when Meng Yao came in with a young woman and another of Jin Guangshan’s bastards in tow. So it’s not unusual for their members to find someone near the Burial Mound’s shrine, waiting to have an audience with the Yiling Patriarch… like now.
Wen Qing sees a kneeling figure by the entrance of the Burial Mounds, she sighs as she readjusts her weekly purchases, as she comes close though her eyes widen. She wasn’t inside Wen Ruohan’s inner circle for long, but it was enough for her to attend several discussion conferences as her uncle’s head physician, which was sufficient to collect information about every sect leader, their families, and head disciples, and enough to identify Madam Qin despite the cheaper-looking robes. Wen Qing sighs heavily again
“Excuse me” she calls suddenly, the Laoling’s Sect Leader’s Wife doesn’t flinch out of pure grace, even so, Wen Qing notices a paleness to her skin that cannot be healthy… but what the hell is doing someone like her so far away from her home? “I’m sorry, may I help you with something?” she tries to channel her inner Meng Yao to assist the older lady (he is so charming when he wants to be, the fucker)
The woman looks at her for a while before also recognizing her
“Young Lady Wen” she whispers as she bows “We thought Wen Ruohan killed you and your branch” Wen Qing bows back as much as she can
“I was afraid he would, so we left” she answers honestly “Madam Qin, I wasn’t expecting to see you today” or never actually “Is there anything I can do for you?” the woman seems to straighten up
“I have a request for the Yiling Patriarch”
“I see…” Wen Qing nods “Follow me, please” she says as she opens the intricate wards Wei Wuxian put around the Burial Mounds years ago
Inside the ‘village’, she gives the purchases to her younger brother and guides the woman to the Demon Slaughtering Palace, specifically to Wei Wuxian’s office, she knocks three times, the exact amount to indicate she comes with an outsider. The door opens and the Yiling Patriarch is in full get-up, resentful veil and all
“Yiling Laozu” Madam Qin bows “I humbly ask for your aid”
Wei Wuxian exchanges a look with the healer. Granting wishes for years made him develop a weird sixth sense to figure out what people might ask of him, and now he suspects this wish in particular, might be one of those… sensitive content ones
“I hope you don’t mind if Wen Qing stays?“ he asks, his tone soft despite the slight changes thanks to his camouflage spell "Depending on the request I may need her expertise”
Madam Qin tightens her jaw but nods
“I wish to protect my daughter” she says and proceeds to tell her story. Wen Qing is horrified and more so at the fact that it doesn’t surprise her, god knows how many stories like that she heard and treat during her stay in Wen Ruohan’s court at the hands of Wen Chao and Wen Xu, and yet, apparently, Jin Guangshan’s past acts aren’t the worst part “My daughter is 15 years old,” the Madam’s voice trembles “is his daughter, even if he doesn’t know and he-“ her fists are practically white as she takes a deep breath to control herself “He always has this look with her recently in every conference, a predator looking at his prey, I should know since I was subject to that same look fifteen years ago”
Wei Wuxian frowns, anger barely contained to avoid overwhelming the ladies with waves of resentful and spiritual energy. He takes a deep breath
"This is a sanctuary,” he explains the Madam “if you or your daughter are in need of help, the Burial Mounds will always be open for you…” he then lets a smirk take over his face even if it’s hiding behind the veil “But I do have some things that could protect your daughter and have a little of payback, it won’t restore what has been done to you neither bring justice but it can avoid future… incidents, now it’s just about how much you are willing to pay” it has always been interesting to Wei Wuxian, what people is ready to give for their desires, it’s something Wen Qing always scold him for, but that Meng Yao understandably shares with him
Madam Qin’s expression turns stony
“To protect my daughter? Not even all the Jin’s wealth would be enough” she declares “Name your price Yiling Laozu and I shall deliver… whatever it takes”
Sensing her determination, and with several flashbacks of Meng Shi and Mo Ning, Wen Qing and Wei Wuxian exchanged a slightly terrified thought: 'Mothers are scary’
thursdayafternoons with nie minjue
wednesday evening after class, with lan wangji
  • the evening night is chill in autumn
  • but warmer, is the presence that always waits for you when you finish your classes
    • walking out of your lecture after a long day,
    • and seeing Lan Wangji sat, reading a book on one of the seats in the hallway
      • it feels nice to have company on the walk to the train station
    • you walk up quietly to Lan Wangji’s sat form, as he seems quite immersed in whatever it is that he is reading
    • and when you get close enough,
      • you give a small kick against his shoes
      • Lan Wangji looks up immediately,
        • though the cold look in his eyes warms ever so slightly when he sees that it is just you,
    • “did you wait long?” you ask him, when Lan Wangji finishes putting his book away and standing up
    • your companion silently shakes his head,
      • and holds his hand out as he does
      • you smile at Lan Wangji, taking off your decidedly heavy backpack for him to carry for you
        • although Lan Wangji was cold,
        • his actions were more than warm
          • especially when he accompanies you all the way to your destination
  • you hold onto Jin Ling’s shoulder tightly as you continued,
  • “Jin Ling was worried, you were going with only a few disciples on this night hunt and though it’s a demon dog, the techniques Jin Ling has been learning at Cloud Recess have prepared him for this. we were coming to help you…”
  • you have always looked beautiful teaching, that to Xichen is undeniable,
  • but Xichen worriedly picks up on the small tell-tale signs of your exhaustion,
    • the slight tremor in your hand that you hide in your sleeves,
    • the way that your eyes close slightly in between the short breaks when your students are reading
  • Xichen barely waits for the student’s dismissals to come into the hall, almost barreling into you as you try to leave
      • “y/n,” Xichen calls you, catching your arms
      • “i need to stop by the library,” you tell him,
      • and he knows that you’re using the work voice with him,
      • “y/n,” Xichen tries again, blocking your path
    • he knows how important that this new teaching position at Cloud Recess is to you,
    • but he can’t rest easy knowing (clearly seeing) that you have not been taking care of yourself
      • your eyes land on Xichen’s face, and he watches your face ease a few tense lines
      • “i’m fine,” you reassure,
        • and Xichen doesn’t buy it for one bit,
      • “let me accompany you then,” Xichen tries,
      • and you let out a sigh, about to retort to him
        • perhaps the sharp way that you had looked up had been too fast
    • but either way, your vision suddenly tunnels
  • Xichen’s arms wrap around your immediately, bringing your swaying form close to his chest
    • your hear his sigh above you as you get your bearings back,
      • slowly notice the tight, scared way that you’re holding onto his robes,
        • “come back with me,” Lan Xichen tells you as his arms wrap around his shoulder in a hug,
        • ‘time to rest, i won’t allow any more work,’ you know he means
          • and really you never knew your limits very well
          • so it’s a blessing to have someone like Xichen
          • how knows you better than yourself
Song Lan
  • your sword wavers, ever so slightly as you bring it back to your side
    • you feel tired,
      • “it’s completely gone,” Song Lan reassures,
      •  you make to nod when your vision swims,
        • Song Lang notices immediately,
          • reaches out to grab you, pull you close to him before he could second guess himself
        • your knees give in fast, and Song Lan holds you upright, surprised voice breaking out into the night
      • “y/n,” Song Lan breathes, the warmth from your body muted, almost as if you’d been suppressing it for a while
    • with you leaned against him, the pin pricks of close contact move their way up his arms and shoulders
    • but he ignores his own discomfort, lifting your robe sleeves to the sight of red,
      • small but clearly dangerous,
      • poison scratched onto your hand
    • Song Lan looks down at you, hears your strained breathing and decides that this can’t wait,
  • he quickly maneuvers your arms around his neck, and lifts your legs up in a quick bridal carry
  • “try to hold on for a few minutes, we’ll go back to the inn” Song Lan says, a reassurance that only he himself hears
    • your eyes fully close and your arms draped around his shoulders loosen
    • this close he gets a clear scent of dew and dirt from the night hunt
    • and a clearer scent of something so distinctively you
Xiao Xingchen
  • when your hand suddenly tightens in the crook of his elbow,
  • Xingchen stops, worry churning in his stomach
    • perhaps he should have been more attentive to you during this long journey
    • had pushed to the back of his mind,
      • the stumbling steps,
      • and late night talks
      • and days without a proper meal
    • all the days you had simply answered, “it’s okay,” to the hardships, because at the very least your didn’t have to endure it alone
  • Xingchen turns to you, having become much better at pinpointing exactly where you are
  • grabs your hand, to steady you,
  • steady himself
    • “y/n,” he calls to you
    • he’s surprised by the sharp downward pull of your hand and realizes with a start that you are falling,
  • Xingchen wraps his arms around you, lowering you to the ground
    • the path that they are taking is deserted anyways, so he doesn’t believe many will mind that you both are stopped as you are in the middle,
    • “i’m sorry…just need a moment,”
      • Xingchen’s brows furrow at your apology, and he reaches out to find you, hands patting slowly from your connected hands up to your shoulders,
      • his hand comes up to cup your face, startling slightly at the warmth there,
  • “why didn’t you tell me you had a fever,” Xingchen asks, later on when you both are sat in the shadow of a large tree a little ways up the path,
    • “i didn’t want to delay you,” you respond honestly, voice breathy even though you are leaned in his arms
      • i would wait for you, Xingchen finds himself thinking immediately,
      • but not yet quite saying
a mdzs character each day of the week
lazy sundays with jiang cheng
  • sometimes,
  • when the quiet around you is just right,
  • the sun light is filtering softly through the open window,
  • and the warmth in his arms is just perfect
    • Jiang Cheng doesn’t want to leave the bed
      • even when it’s well into the late hours of the morning
    • “at this rate we’ll miss lunch with your brother,” you mumble, your hand warm where it’s laid on his chest
      • you both had been awake for hours already,
        • but laying with you in his arms
        • and the scent of your hair, tickling his chin
        • Jiang Cheng hadn’t wanted to move
      • with both of your busy schedules throughout the whole week,
        • him in his intern at the law office
        • you with your grad school work and classes
      • moments like this when you both get to lay next to each other like this,
        • warm
          • were hard to come by
    • “still sleepy,” Jiang Cheng says, turning to pull you even deeper into his arms, as if that were possible
      • you can’t help but laugh with his movements,
        • snuggling in close
        • falling so easily for his persuasion
          • “wei wuxian is going to be so mad at you,” you tease him, one final reminder of your appointment
            • “hmm, he’ll finally have that date with lan wangji that he always wanted,” jiang cheng replies
            • and you actually laugh out loud
            • the breath that you puff out against his thin shirt,
              • warm,
              • happy
                • spurs him to place a kiss against the crown of your head
                • you both don’t leave each other’s arms for the rest of the day
It’s illogical to draw one when you ship them, I drew the second one because I’m already used to both of them
