Give me clouds and rain and gray
Give me pain, if that’s what’s real

home as a person in musical theatre

  • “the street’s a little kinder when you’re home, can’t you see that the day seems clearer now that you are here or is it me? maybe its just me”
  • “please believe that when you find your way again, you’re gonna change the world. and then we’re all gonna brag and say we knew her when this was your home”
    “i’m home-”
    “welcome home-”
“when you’re here with me i used to think we lived at the top of the world! i’m home.”
    “you’re finally home!”
  • “but even if everything else turns to dirt, we’ll be the one thing in this world that won’t hurt. i can’t fix what’s fucked up. but one thing i know i can do: i can be perfect for you.”
  • “i’ve been a lot of places, but i’ve learned now near and far- there’s no need to roam cause home is where you are.”
  • “so long as you come home at the end of the day, that would be enough… let me be a part of the narrative, in the story they will write someday, let this moment be the first chapter, where you decide to stay.”
  • “it’s a long road. it’s a long walk, back into the cold and dark. are you sure you wanna go?”
    “take me home.”
  • “i can’t promise you fair sky above, can’t promise you kind road below. but i’ll walk beside you, love. any way the wind blows.”

quotes i like from depressing introspective musicals i love part 1

  • i don’t know why people run, i don’t know why things fall through…i could say no and goodbye, but why, jaime, why?
  • see, we’re laughing… i think we’re gonna be okay… see, you’re laughing and i’m smiling… and you’re mine… we’re doing fine.
  • wait for me… i’ll hurry!… wait for me, hurry!
  • you’re sorry-grateful, regretful-happy.
  • you don’t live for her, you do live with her. you’re scared she’s starting to drift away- and scared she’ll stay.
  • marry me a little, do it with a will. make a few demands i’m able to fulfill. want me more than others, not exclusively.
  • you’re always wondering what might have been, then she walks in. and still you’re sorry, and still you’re grateful, and still you wonder, and still you doubt, and she goes out.
  • make me confused! mock me with praise! let me be used, vary my days… for alone is alone, not alive!
  • we’ll be the one thing in this world that won’t hurt.
  • you know i love you. i love you as much as i can.
  • let’s be scared together. slap my face, or hold me till winter.
  • do you know? all i want is you. anything you do is all right, yes, it’s alright. do you know?

love as devotion in theatre part 1

  • “anywhere you go let me go too.”
  • “say the word and i will follow you. share each day with me, each night, each morning.”
  • “i don’t know where this road will end but i’ll walk it with you hand in hand… do you let me walk with you?”
  • “wait for me?” “i will.”
  • “i’m gonna hold you forever. the wind will never change on us. long as we stay together, then it will always be like this.”
  • “let’s be scared together. let’s pretend that nothing is awful. there’s nothing to fear, just stay right here.”
  • “do you regret?” “i’d do it again. i’d like to believe that i’d do it again and again, and again. and what more can i say?”
  • “do you know? all i want is you. anything you do is alright, yes, it’s alright. do you know?”
  • “there’s a place for us, a time and place for us. hold my hand and we’re halfway there.”
  • “whatever may come we’ll come through, and who can know how when all i know now to be true is this promise that i make to you.”
  • “knowing one day we’d remember that joy, you’d remember that girl i’d remember that boy. till we do the promise i made- i’ll make it brand new. a promise that i made to you.”
  • “all afternoon, doing every little chore- the thought of you stays bright. sometimes i stand in the middle of the floor, not going left, not going right.”
  • “sing out this song and i’ll be there by your side.”
  • “i love knowing you’re there, i love sharing this island and everything we do. i love now, i love here, and in case it’s not clear, i love you.”
  • “there’s no need to roam ‘cause home is where you are.”

thepiecesofcait:

Turns out I’m way more emotional about Aaron Tveit (FINALLY) winning a Tony than I thought I’d be, so here’s an assortment of past Broadway appearances, including some (Gabe) that should have received (Frank) their own Tony nominations (Gabe and Frank).

them: what are you thinking about? :)

me: haha nothing important

what im really thinking about: in the broadway musical next to normal when natalie is singing “superboy and the invisible girl” she’s singing about how her dead brother gabriel always steals her spotlight and how she feels invisible in the eyes of her mother and then, when gabriel is joining her in singing the second chorus, he forces her to sing the harmony while he himself takes over the song, which basically represents the whole relationship they have with their mother

sometimes “cause some days i think i’m dying but i’m really only trying to get through, for just another day” hits different

sometimes i think about next to normal and cry like a normal person

Note: I originally made this post in March 2019.  I accidentally deleted it recently, so I am reposting it.

I woke up humming this morning.  When I tried to figure out what song I was humming, I realized it was actually two songs that blend together.

Day after day

Give me clouds and rain and gray

Give me pain if that’s what’s real

It’s the price we pay to feel

The price of love is loss, but still we pay

We love any way

So look out, it’s around every corner

Kind of weird but that’s neither here nor there.

You can face it, embrace it.

No need to fear the beauty.

Beauty everywhere.

The melodies do blend together, although the lyrics don’t.  You know what that means: It’s time for a crossover between Starship and Next to Normal!  Bugette seemingly returns to life, but only people who knew her before she died can see or hear her.
