Don’t you dare give up
I hope that someday when I am gone, someone, somewhere picks my soul up off of these pages and thinks, “I would have loved her.”

Dragon Soul
This life hasn’t been easy on me,
I have learned to breathe fire,
and God help any of you
who would ever try
to smother my flames.

On The Hips of a Hurricane
I could love you less
than storms or anything easy
that I have ever done,
but you, my hard love,
I love you as the moon
loves the tides, pulling
and pushing for one minute only,
for you to see that this life,
that our life, could be
extraordinary on the hips
of a hurricane or riding
the shoulders of a tropical storm.
You and I could devastate worlds,
the way we love each other,
churning and bursting inside
winds that will never kiss our lips.
You are my disaster,
and I will wait forever for you
to decide to ravage my shores.

Tell me how the sunshine felt on your face
after you dropped to your knees and swore
you could no longer go on.
Tell me that the warmth of its rays reached out
to warm the tears from your eyes
and kiss the cries from your lips.
Tell me you found something beautiful
in the breaking, and when you stood you took it
all away and carried it home with you.
How else could your soul be this golden?
If you hadn’t stolen the sun to fill your heart,
and cram your pockets with its pure light.

I still pick at these memories of you. I pick them until they bleed.

I know, she is beautiful; all hot breath and pretty words, but she has starved her demons for a lifetime now, and those motherfuckers are hungry.

Objects In The Mirror
Hold a mirror
up to me and I
will hold one
up to you,
and we can kiss
your pretty lies
and fuck
my ugly truth.
