As I begin my blogging journey and read over my introduction, clearly stating my passion for normal birth, minimal interventions in homely, non medicalised environments, I can’t help but notice my profile picture.
Can you see what I may be noticing?
A lovely pink, healthy looking baby…….. being held by latex gloves on hands clearly not belonging to mum, the one person who deserves that very first human touch the most. In the background there are those infamous blue/green scrubs which in themselves put out a medicalised vibe and most likely prove that this was a hospital medical model birth, possibly even a ceaser.
This leaves me pondering over what it was about this picture that intrigued me, why I would choose this one over one that more reflects my philosophies and have decided, as its getting close to midnight, that maybe I get enjoyment and excited about any birth with a good outcome. At this early stage of my career, I am enjoying any exposure to childbirth, in any setting.
