Out of Time
Description: John was Sherlock’s friend with benefits, but for John… Sherlock was everything. Only… Sherlock is a alpha and John is a beta. John always knew this arrangement between them couldn’t last. One day Sherlock would find an omega to mate with and then he’d have to let Sherlock go, no matter how it would destroy him. Omegas were the intended bond mates to alphas. Being a beta, John knew he held no place in Sherlock’s life, apart from being a second, and that would destroy him. That dreaded day came too soon. John was left with two choices… Become Sherlock’s second, or leave. John wasn’t a runner, but this… John couldn’t take this, so he accepted Mycroft’s offer and left Sherlock before the alpha could leave him.
Review: I’ve been wanting to read an omegaverse fic where they’re not “biologically compatible” so I was glad to find this fic! Sherlock has a secret upcoming arranged marriage and when John finds out he leaves, allowing Mycroft to hide him from Sherlock so he doesn’t get his feelings hurt all over again. Little does John know that Sherlock never actually married her.
Rating: E
Summary: Shizuka was born in a time where quirks didn’t exist and she was 10 when they suddenly did, but time was a fickle thing when you could control it. At 16 she was in a new time, adjusting to a society where powers weren’t just accepted, but all of society revolved around them and this new society held an adventure that she never could have prepared for.
Pairing(s): Hawks/OC, Dabi/OC, Hawks/Dabi/Oc(*I haven’t fully decided where this fanfic is going yet*).
*This is only a preview of the story. The full first chapter will be posted on my Ao3 account sometime this week, along with my other promised Hawks soulmate AU update.
Fall was the worst season. Fall brought nothing but bad memories for Shizuka. It didn’t help that it felt like a season of dying. The leaves would crumble, the grass would grow dull, the sky often would get cloudy, wind left chills along her skin. It was like watching the life of the world fade out until winter finally nailed the last nail in nature’s coffin. Which is exactly why she huffed while throwing her scarf around her neck, tucking her chin down into it to warm her nose and mouth from the cold. Her hands found refuge in her wool coat’s pockets, safely tucked in the satin lining with a hand warmer in each palm. She never liked the cold. Even as a kid she would be cold all the time, summer or winter. It was like a small curse.
Just as she rounded the corner she was pushed back, toppling off balance with the force that hit her chest. The air was knocked from her lungs. In her moment of panic she accidentally activated her quirk. Everything around her immediate vicinity came to a halt as she landed on her back, head colliding with the concrete pavement with a sickening noise that made her stomach churn. A loud curse escaped from her, hoarse from just gasping for air. Her hands instantly cradled the back of her head, curling into a ball on her side while she groaned.
“Are you okay, miss!?”
The voice was sudden, too loud and very much unwanted. The blooming pain from the back of her head made her grit her teeth. Even as it gradually dulled to a throbbing ache. But she didn’t want to be rude to the concerned stranger, so she lifted up one hand to give a thumbs up without moving.
“Whoa,” the second voice sounded oddly familiar, but she couldn’t place it while she was focusing on her pain. A better person would have already shaken it off, but she was no better person. She was weak and her pain tolerance was hilariously low. “Did she do this?”
The question pulled Shizuka to look up at the scene before her. The one that was drawing a growing, curious crowd to a spectacle they normally wouldn’t have seen. There was a man, large and muscular, that was frozen in time. One foot off the ground, an arm out from pushing her out of his way, with an angry expression. Behind him were two other men following his tracks, but there were also a handful of civilians that were frozen in time. Mid strides, going about their days.
“A quirk like this would be perfect for a hero,” a second voice pulled her attention away from her pain, forcing her to look at the hero inspecting the frozen men. He turned to look at her just as she sat up, moving her hands to her lap. “What’s your name, sweetheart?”
She coughed a couple times, trying to clear her throat. “Shizuka.”
“What’s your last name?”
“I don’t have one.” The hero gave her a skeptical look. “What?”
“Nothing,” he walked over to her, stopping just before her feet to kneel down. He gave her a lopsided smile that sent her heart into a flutter, heating up her cheeks. “You ever thought of being a hero with a quirk like this?”
She looked away from him, letting her voice become hard. “Never.”
“Shame. I think your quirk would be perfect for this line of work.” She let the words go in one ear and out the other. Heroes weren’t exactly her thing. Suddenly he popped into her line of vision again. “Mind helping by unfreezing these thugs?”
She nodded and with nothing more than a thought the men were moving again, disoriented and yelling in the back of a police van. The hero gave her a mildly impressed look.
“So, Shizuka, my name is Hawks. I’d like for you to stick around to talk for a bit.”
