TASM!Peter x Reader, Bucky x Reader (past)

word count: 2.4k

A/N: I hate action, i such a writing it so i jumped over most of this fight scene, and i definitely wasn’t gonna follow it to a T either, sooo just pretend it was longer and everyone was doing more ahahah im excited for the next part!

Also adding i know i didnt really touch base on the readers powers/abilities but what im thinking is she orginally thought along with everyone else that she could only control the elements, then she started to realize she could do A LOT more like astral projection, ect pretty much her full “unlocking” is she can control all matter/atoms which is pretty much means everything and anything, so she powerful af, ill explain it better later!

“Are you guys almost done?” You shouted

“Yeah just placing the last one”

“Cool cool” You say as you lean over the scaffolding, your Peter jumps down, perching up top. As the other two land beside you. You turned to face Peter, your universe’s Peter “Y’know I dont think Steve would’ve liked this” You smiled gesturing to the construction of the shield at the statue of liberty.

“It really is a big honour” Peter smiled

The eldest Peter chipped it “This guy must of been really something for them to do all this for”

You missed Steve more than you allowed yourself to and you hated yourself for not saying goodbye but you could never bring yourself to. How could you look at Steve and tell him you were happy for him when you were jealous he got to grow old with the person he loved, he got to live out the timeline you were all supposed to. You were so pathetic you couldn’t mask that jealousy for a 30 minute visit. But at the same time you liked having your last memory of Steve be the Steve you knew, because that Steve that came back was no longer your Stevie.

You smiled sadly “He really was”

“You all are honestly” Peter 3 smiled, placing a hand on your shoulder giving it a reassuring squeeze “Honesty ever since i got here, all i keep seeing and hearing about are all these amazing heroes, i just wish my universe had more of them”

“They have you that’s all they need Parker” You gave him a soft smile, as he squatted down, his brown eyes filling up your irises with nothing but adoration “And you are pretty amazing”

“Yeah, why are you so hard on yourself? You’re amazing, you’re the amazing spider man!” Peter 2 exclaimed

He shrugged “It’s just you guys all fight such cool villains and i just have a lizard. I wonder if my universe as aliens”

“Probably does, they all have to” Peter 1 said “I just dont think they’re provoked”

“What do you mean?”

“Like theres so many superheroes here, its cool and all but Mr.Stark once told me it shows life outside of Earth that were ready for a fight, so since its just —“ He paused taking out his phone “Its an unknown number” He brought his phone to his ear “Um hello?”

“Think one of the villains got a phone?” Peter 3 smiled at you

“It’s a necessity nowadays i wouldn’t doubt it”

“Yeah she’s here” Your universes Peter looked at you, clearing his throat “It’s for you”

You furrowed your eyebrows, you hesitantly took a step forward “Who is it?”

He gave you a sympathetic look, handing you the phone “Sergeant Barnes”

You could feel all the colour drain from your face “Oh”

“I can tell him your busy” he was reaching for the phone back

“He can hear you Pete” You didnt realize you were backing up till you bumped into a warm but firm surface “Woah, you okay?” Peter 3 hands steadied you.

Looking into brown eyes that stared back at you with nothing but concern it made your heart flutter, you nodded. Turning back to face the youngest Peter “Ill be right back”

You started to walk further down the catwalk and you heard the eldest Peter mumble “Who’s sergeant Barnes?”

Before you were far enough they wouldn’t be able to hear you but you could still hear them and any sign that the villains arrived.

You were pacing, trying to breath evenly because when you got overwhelmed and your emotions were over the top you could cause some disturbances so you were trying your best to remember the breathing techniques Tony taught you, you pinched the bridge of your nose

“Hello?”

“Y/n” you could hear relief in his voice “What’s going on?”

“Nothing”

He was agitated and you could hear it in voice “Dont lie to me, we saw you on tv with the Spider kid, and now i’m hearing about there being bad guys? Are you hurt?”

“Im fine Bucky, we have everything under control” You gritted your teeth, you always hated when he’s treat you like a wounded child

He scoffed “What, you and that kid? And you’re bringing the fight to the statue of liberty, are you serious?”

“It’s not just me and Peter, we have other help” You were trying your best to stay calm, and save your energy for the real fight

He paused sighing, deciding to get to the point “I know y/n”

“Know what?”

“About the night of Steve’s funeral”

Your mouth was dry, it all of a sudden felt like you were swallowing cotton “Which funeral?”

“Doll” he pleaded with you because he didn’t want to say it.

“Don’t” you were shaking your head.

“Why didn’t you tell me? I would of —“

You cut him off “You would have what Bucky? Stayed with me because you were afraid I’d do it again? Like you said, we’re not the same people anymore!”

“I still love you, ill always love you y/n, i just wanted time to figure out who i was, i just needed…”

“What about what I needed!” You screamed cutting him off “What about me? I lost Steve to, i lost time to, i needed you Bucky”

“I’m right here doll, i’ve always been here, you could of called me whenever and you know i would have came running”

“I don’t need you anymore Bucky, i’ve found what i need what i want and for once i’m going to put me first”

You could hear his heavy breathing through the phone and you’re sure his brow was furrowed “What are you saying y/n? I can’t live without you”

“You’ve been doing fine the last 6 months”

“How do you know that? You weren’t there!”

“You left me Buck, remember? you were right to”

“I was right?”

You could feel static in the air, they were close - “We’re just not who we were anymore and that’s okay because change is good, it’s scary but its good”

“You can’t just throw all that history away y/n — it was supposed to be you and i, forever” He whispered

“Buck, we both know so well that forever doesn’t last” you whispered through dried lips, finally defeated “Steve and you will always be the biggest and best part of me, but …”. You paused, turning to look at the three Spidermen in their suits.

Your Peter was perched up, while the eldest was standing, and the Peter you were gonna risk this all for was leaning against the railing his masks in his hand while he was listening intently to the other two, he was smiling from ear to ear, the corner of his eyes crinkled.

Almost like he could feel you staring at him and he turned to you, he gave you the most beautiful smile you ever seen before giving you a small wave which you returned. “I’m thinking about the future now. You’ll always have a part a me, i’ll always love you ” You peeled you eyeline away from the Peter’s turning to look over the edge “I’m not sure if I can ever love anyone the way i love you but i wanna try Bucky, but i can’t do that here” you paused “not when every corner i turn im reminded of everything, everyone i lost”

“What do you mean here? Y/n what’s going on what are you gonna do?” Panic was lacing his voice, he knew you had very powerful abilities and he also knew he didn’t know what you could do with them, the full extent at least because you were still learning about them when he was in the safe house before Wakanda, but all he did know is he didn’t like the sound of it, whatever it was.

“James, i’m gonna be okay, everything is gonna be okay”

“Y/n, answer me”

“I love you” You clicked the phone shut

You walked back over to the boys “Thanks Pete” you smiled, tossing his phone back up to him

“You okay?”

“Yeah i am” You smiled, this time he could see a twinkle in your eyes “We ready to cure some ass?”

You received a series of nods “Good because there here”

“How do you —“ Peter 1 perched up “You guys feel that?”

“Yeah” the eldest Peter nodded, “How did you know before us?”

“Im one with everything, and all that hippy stuff”

You shrugged it off before activating your suit, it went from inky black from your toes to your neck, the nanobots changed to a colourless white, as your eyes changed with it. The sky started to crackle, lightning flashing throughout the sky.

“Y/n?” You Peter questioned

“Not me”

All three men put their masks on, everyone fully alert before a man appeared “Sup Pete? You like the new new?” He held his arms out as electricity shot out of him.

“Oh well, that’s pretty cool” You said to no one in particular

“Who’s this?” Electro turned his attention to you “Look i don’t wanna hurt a lady, just give me the box and everything will be fine”

“I wouldnt be to worried about hurting y/n” Your Peter said “She’s pretty bad ass”

“Is that a challenge?” Electro said with a smirt

“Nope, no, no Max, its definitely not a challenge” Peter 3 said getting ready to stand in front of you

He sent a shock of electricity your way just has Peter 3 was ready to jump in front of you, you caught the electricity with ease, holding it in your hand there was a glowing line between the two of you. The static could be felt in the air, your eyes started to glow more as you rose yourself off the ground.

“Oh shit”

“Y’know, that thing on your chest, was created and designed by a very, very dear friend of mine and i’m not gonna lie, he wouldn’t like this, you being on the wrong side of the fight and all, so i’m gonna have to do something about it”

You put both your hands out using his own electricity to fuel you, you used all the energy you had to hold him into place “Any day now Parker!”

You watched Peter 3 look flustered before he nodded “Yeah yeah of course, on it!” He shouted before getting the arc reactor off and placing the cure on Electro, once it was on you carefully placed him somewhere in the scaffolding and you water Peter 3 run to make sure he was okay.

You dropped yourself down, running to find the youngest Peter, you pasted Peter 2 curing the sand castle guy right before you bumped into a hard figure, you stumbled back a bit.

“Y/n?”

“Strange”

“You’re alive”

“You thought i wasnt?”

“I stopped hearing from you, logically i assumed the worst” He paused “Please tell me you’re not helping the kid?”

“We’re curing them, its working if that’s what your asking”

“Your eyes are glowing” He ignored your comment

“Its a new thing, it only just started happening i guess” You shrugged

He nodded “You’re unlocking it”

You furrowed your brows “Unlocking what?“

“Everything, your full potential” He stared at you for a moment, almost like he was reading your every thought “tread lightly y/n” he warned before he opened another portal walking through it.

You followed him knowing exactly who he was going to “What’s that supposed to mean?”

“It means —“

“Pete watch out!” You screamed at the top of your lungs just as you watched the Lizard tackle Peter down, sticking his claws in his abdomen.

Strange uses a Eldritch Whip to hold the lizard down as the other two Spider Man went to cure what onces was Doctor Connors.

You shakily went over to your Peter, falling to your knees, he was coated in blood this was definitely a wound his fast healing wouldn’t help on “Oh Pete” tears were rolling down your cheeks, guilt taking over every atom in you, you placed your hand over his wound putting pressure on it “I’m so sorry”

His eyes were glossy, he place his hand over yours “Don’t you care apologize y/n, this isn’t your fault i know what your -“

You shook your head “I’m gonna fix this”

“This is too much y/n, it’ll take you out if not worse”

You had tunnel vision for the only Peter in front of you, you didn’t feel the hand on your shoulder “It’s gonna be okay Pete”

He gave you a weak smile “It is, i’m gonna see May and Ben, and Mr.Stark he’ll probably kick my, y'know but its - what are you doing?!”

Your eyes were glowing, as you started to focus on all the matter surrounding his wound focusing everything you had left in you on him.

“Get her off of me, it too much, this could kill her!” You heard him shout to Peter 3.

Feeling that similar sensation of his hand on your shoulder, you stuck your left hand out, mumbling a weak “Sorry” and blasting him back, creating an almost forcefield-like bubble around the two of you, blocking out any outside voices and anyone who tried to interfere, you could vaguely see Strange using everything he had to break through.

“Y/n please stop”

You had two wounds down and one more to go, you could feel yourself fading but feeling Peter getting stronger. Before you knew it you weren’t strong enough and the bubble around you was flickering, you opened your eyes and was satisfied with Peter’s vitals being stronger than yours before anyone had the chance to say anything a chilling voice boomed through the sky.

“Can the Spider-Man come out to play?!”

Peter shoved you out of the way before the goblin started hurtling pumpkin bomb after pumkin bomb, swooping down and steal the box from Strange. Your vision was pulsating, between reality, darkness and the people were trying to come through. You looked up at Strange “There coming” you mumbled

Using his Eldritch Whips to steal the box back as Doc Ock held his board back, he looked back down at you “Who?!” He yelled through the chaos

You weakly pointed up at the sky.

“Strange no!” Peter shouted before an explosion went off and you used the last of your energy to guide the blast upwards and away from everyone you had left.

Before you knew it, you heard someone screaming your name as you tumbled off the collapsing scaffolding, letting darkness consume you.

I honestly am so in love with this fic ive had it in my head for so long, ive never had anything as planned out before as it is. I have the next part finished, will post it tonight or tomorrow, i dont wanna upload anything till i have the next next part done as well, im about 25% done part 8.

I have so many random scenes typed out to, i just need to find where they’ll fit since i dunno if you could tell im dragging this out a teeny tiny bit. I just wrote an intense scene and this is my favourite line in it so far (i think this will be after the fight scene);

“Bucky” You felt like you were swallowing knives saying his name “He was the moon, but you —“ Your voice shaky even though you’ve never been more sure in your life “You, Peter Parker, your the whole goddamn galaxy”

Masterlist|Masterpost

“So what’s the plan?” you walked through the front door Peter(3) shutting it behind you.

“Well, if we just send them back, they’ll die. I know its asking a lot but, we can cure then y/n”

You leaned against the island in the kitchen, of course Peter would choose the plan that would help everyone in the end “Okay” you nodded

His eyes went wide “What? Just like that?”

Pushing yourself off the island “Just like that”

“Wow okay, yeah just like that” A smile beaming on his face

“We do this right, we do this as safely as possible for everyone, we get them back safe, we keep you safe and we do it somewhere no people are” You paused “The statue, it’s the safest, its still under construction” Your eyes found themselves searching for a Peter that wasn’t yours “No more lives lost, no more blood on anyones hands”

Your eyes found him.

“We keep you safe too” Peter 3’s voice came out firmly.

“What?”

“You said we get everyone back safe, keep Peter safe, keep the world safe but you forgot about yourself so, we keep you safe too.”

You could feel it, that metaphorical string tightening, pulling you to him.

“Okay Parker”

Your Peter cleared his throat “Um so we need a lab, we could break into the school but if they see us…”

“Thats to unpredictable, too many variables” The eldest Peter chimed in

“You don’t have an Oscoprs so that’s out the window too”

“Well we had something like that but it was um, destroyed by the purple alien i was telling you about”

You laughed.

All eyes landed on you.

“Pete, you act like you didn’t know Stark at all, im slightly disappointed”

You walked to the front of the island with all the drawers proceeding to open one up “You really think Tony would build a safe house without a secure access to all the technology Stark had?”

“I thought this was SHIELD?”

You started typing something into the hidden keypad “God no, it’s one of the very few they didn’t know about, Fury and Tony set it up for incidents like this’’ You gestured to everyone in the room.

A voice boomed throughout the room “Access granted, welcome Flower child”

“Flower child?” Your Peter’s eyes were filled with amusement.

“You shush Spider boy”

“Mr. Starks nicknames were something else”

“Tony was something else” You gave him a small smile before the kitchen island slowly was shifting, all 3 Peter’s moved closer to get a better look.

As a staircase down below started to reveal itself you continued “This is where Fury hid for a bit when he” getting your air quotation ready ”’Died’, it’s also where Cap and them hid out after the whole accords situation”

“How does one ‘die’” Peter(2) questioned

“Fake your death” you shrugged, as you waved for them to follow you down the stairs

“Totally normal” Peter(3) said to himself.

Peter (2) place his hand on Peter’s(3) shoulder “Anything seems to go here”

They followed you down the stairs, you placed your hand on a glass door, it lit up green before opening up lights slowly flickered on. It was exactly as it was left.

You could see the polaroid wall filled with pictures of the team pre thanos, and pre Accords from all the times you all would hide out here if needed. You did a b-line completely avoiding it “We have everything you’ll need to cure them” You watched as their eyes looked over everything “I won’t be any help but um he might” you pointed up.

“The ceiling?” Peter(3) raised his eyebrow giving you a funny look

“There’s an A.I here?” Your Peter popped up

“Not just any A.I kid” You gave him a sad smile, your hands were shaky “Hey Tones, flower child here with Spider boy”

A few seconds later a familiar voice came through the speakers pulling at your beart strings “Been a hot minute, slacking without me around i see”

Peter’s mouth parted “Y/n wh-what’s going on” he was shaking his head “How?”

“When Tony found out i was hiding Steve and the rest here, he um created his own A.I” You smiled softly at the memory “Y’know to punish them further that they’d have to listen to him every day instead of Friday”

“But I thought he hated them? Why wouldn’t he turn them in?“

Your eyes looked towards the polaroid wall lingering on it longer than you’d like falling on a picture of Steve, Bucky and you. “We were a family and families fight” You shrugged “Anyway” clapping your hands together “Get to work boys!”

You watched them all talking about who was going to create whos cure, along with small chit chat about their lives. You found yourself getting closer and closer to the wall till your feet were planted directly in front of it. Scanning through the memories.

2016

“Hey look what i have!” You lifted up a black polaroid camera from behind your back waving it in the air.

You heard Steve let out a groan, where as Bucky came up planting a kiss on your cheek and taking the camera from your hand “These things just keep getting smaller and smaller”

“Dude, that’s vintage” Sam laughed “Why the polaroid y/n?”

“Well I know Bucks gonna be going to Wakanda soon, and anything can happen right?” You shrugged taking it back from Bucky “We have no pictures together, well none from this century”

“You’re going to make us take selfies together?“

Sam almost spit out his orange juice “How do you know that term Cap?”

Steve crossed his arms grinning “Natasha”

“So…pictures please? I wanna add some to the wall”

Sam came up taking the camera from you “I’ll take it, scootch together”

Steve was on your left and Bucky on your right.

“All right say… ‘Fugitives’ “

“Hey!” You laughed “I’m not a fugitive”

“Might as well be if your hanging around these two, alright say cheese”

“Cheese!” You all shouted at the same time, for the first time in years you felt at home.

You reached out and touched the picture, you almost wished that you could get sucked back in.

“Are you okay y/n?” Your Peter was standing beside you

“Yeah I’m fine Pete” You spoke with maybe a little too much enthusiasm

“You don’t have to lie to me” He said, his voice low

“You have enough going on, my problems are so minor they don’t matter, it’s fine really”

“How can you say that? Your problems matter, you matter y/n”

Your eyes left his and you looked back at the polaroid pondering for a moment, letting your emotions get the better of you “If I mattered why’d they both leave?”

“Y/n, I …”

You shook your head “Its fine, you should go help your new friends” a grin taking place on your face as you slowly started to peel the polaroids off the wall “The faster we get this done the safer it is for everyone” What you really wanted to say was the faster you send them home the lesser of a chance your heart would break with the leas time he’d be here stealing it away piece by piece.

He opened his mouth but closed it almost immediately. You knew he wanted to talk more but it clearly wasn’t the best time. He nodded, walking back to the other two Peter’s. Your eyes followed him and you could feel the other Peter staring at you, you quickly averted your gaze back to taking the polaroids off the wall.

A sigh escaped your lips as you went to peel the last picture off the wall, you don’t know what hurt most the hard cold truth that all of your friends in these pictures were no longer alive or the thought that you wished you could be too.

“What are you gonna do with those?” A soft voice said lightly from behind you, shivers went up your spin.

“I’m not sure, my suit doesn’t really have any pockets”

“I could uh web them for you, so they stay together for the time being?” He offered, he was anxiously fiddling with his hands, he just had this urge that he wanted to do anything and everything for you.

You turned around to face him “That’s a good idea actually and then i can put them in my boot or something” You handed them to him.

“May i?” he held the photos up, asking if he could look through them first, you gave him a nod of approval. He carefully flipped through them “Is this?” He held the photo down so you could see, it was that photo of Bucky, Steve and you.

You smiled, “Thats Steve and that’s Bucky”

“You three look good for being over hundred”

You laughed “Thanks Parker, i think so to”

He looked like he wanted to ask you something, his eyes searching yours for anything that could tell him it was a bad idea “Do you think we could um, take a picture together, so i could have it for when I’m no longer here?”

The smile that took over your face hurt your cheeks so bad “I’d love that” You reached over to the camera “But we have to take two because i want one to”

You grabbed the camera blowing the dust off of it “I think you should hold it, you have longer arms”

He took it from you, your hands brushing against each other, you stood next to him as he turned the camera around “Are you ready?”

“Yes, say Multiverse”

He laughed “Of course, okay 1.. 2… 3…”

“Multiverse!” You both smiled at the sametime

You held the same pose as he clicked one more, he took one and handed it to you while he took the other, you looked up at him tilting your head to the side, you could help but smile as you watched his eyebrows crease with confusion.

“Is there something on my face?”

“No” you laughed “I was just wondering if you had pockets because” you gestured tochis suit “It doesn’t look like it”

“Oh” he half heartedly laughed “Um i do actually, i didn’t before but i do now, see” He showed you the hidden pocket

“Look!” You beamed showing him your picture of the two of you “It looks good”

“Yeah” He admired it, staring at you now instead of the picture  “You look beautiful”

Your head shot up to look at him, you opened your mouth to say something at least you think you would have said something back if your Peter didn’t Interrupt but the truth was how could you when he left you that flustered

“Hey guys, we’re done over here!” He shouted while waving the two of you over.

You both nodded “Could you web this for me?” your voice was timid like a child

“Of course y/n” The way his name rolled off his lips felt like it should be illegal for something as simple as saying your name made you feel. He took the pictures for you, the picture of the two of you now on top of the pile instead of the one with Steve, Bucky and you. He webbed them together in a pile “Here, it should last till this is all over”

“Thank you” You grabbed them stuffing them into the side of your combat boots

He gave you a nod before he gestured to the other two Peters “We should”

“Yeah, we should”

“So why take the pictures with you? Wouldn’t they be safer here?” He questioned

“Well, yes technically they would but in case anything happens, I’d like to have some of my favourite people with me” You gave a side smile

He stopped, putting his arm in front of you “Woah, nothing is gonna happen to you Y/N, I’m going to make sure of that”

“I appreciate that Parker but my luck has to run out at some point I’m just preparing for every outcome” You shrugged.

He knew that feeling, the feeling after a loss of someone you love, the heartbreak of losing someone you love, that hopeless feeling followed by the numbing acceptance of not really caring what happens to yourself anymore because why does it even matter? Why should you be able to save yourself or even try to when you failed to save the one you love. His heart broke thinking of you going through that even though he knew you were, he wanted to do everything he could to pull you out of that darkness, to not let it swallow you whole like it almost did to him. “The only outcome is everyone is safe, no more losses”

You enjoyed the light to Peter, it was something that you observed every Peter had, you admired it. You hoped at some point in your life you’d be able to find that lightness again but you had this darkness inside you that kept telling you that you weren’t even going to live that long. Looking into his eyes, you could see that he was so sure, so positive that everything was going to work out and that helped put you at ease and even give you a little bit of light in all the dark “No more losses” you smiled back.

“Nice of you two to finally join us” The eldest Peter smiled, he had a look in his eyes you couldn’t quite place it was almost like a knowing look.

Your Peter clapped his hands “We’re just waiting for the last cure to finish but the plan I have is to take a video, send it to Jameison telling them where I am, and we wait for them to come, sounds good?” The youngest Peter looked to everyone waiting for confirmation. Everyone nodded agreeing “Good okay, I’m gonna call MJ and Ned let them know the plan and see if he can portal us there, probably easier”

Your Peter went into one of the rooms off to the side to call his best friend as the oldest Peter turned to you “So i know, i got hassled for what i was wearing so i feel it’s fair for me to hassle you.” A small grin on his face “So y/n are you going into battle dressed like you’re going to the gym or?”

You laughed, looking down at your outfit, you had leggings on and your sports bra tank top thing you stole from Natasha years ago “Nope totally not, um i actually forgot i was still wearing this”

“You’re not cold? it’s kinda chilly down here” He questioned

“No, my body adjusts to the temperature to keep me warm”

“Of course it does, but back to the suit thing, do we need to take you somewhere to get it?”

“No, i have it here” You lifted your arms showing him the two small black bracelets on your wrist, you tapped them together once and small black nanobots started to cover your body from your neck to your ankles “See, simple” You put your arms out spinning around

“That nano tech?” Peter 3 asked

“Yup, Tony made it for me”

“That’s so cool”

Your Peter came back “Okay Neds gonna do it any second — Oh good y/n you finally suited up”

“How much longer till that’s done?” You gestured to the final cure, the goblins.

“About 10 minutes give or take”

You nodded “Okay um, i’m just going to make a quick call okay?”

“Do i need to be worried about anything y/n?” You Peter’s voice was soft

“No Pete, just going to call a friend, I’ll be out front” You started walking back up the stairs, taking your phone off the counter where you left it.

You had a plan and you weren’t even sure if it was going to work, but if it did, if you lived through this maybe this could be your second chance, if you even deserved one of those and you weren’t sure if you did but he made you feel like you did.

You still had so many loose ends in your century long life and you weren’t even sure if you’d be able to snip those ends off but all you knew is one particular string was pulling you tightly and securely in another direction while others were fraying.

You knew you weren’t thinking logically about your plan, you weren’t even sure if he’d be okay with it or if you could pull it off but you had to try.

You made it a good distance from the house before clicking on Sam’s name, hitting call.

“Should we really be leaving him Buck? I can’t help but have this feeling that —“

“Steve’s smart, he’ll be okay, i promise”

You nibbled on your nail, as Bucky led you away from the Stark expo, arm around your shoulder “I know he’s smart, i just, what if by some miracle they accept him? Then i’ll be losing both of my boys”

“Woah” He stopped in his tracks moving to stand in front of you “You’re never gonna lose me doll”

You kept your gaze down “You don’t know that Buck” your voice barely above a whisper

He placed his fingers just under your chin, guiding you to look up at him, once your eyes connected, his hand was on your cheek “I promise y/n, you will never lose me.”

“How do you know that? Y-you cant promise me that, its to unpredictable”

He grabbed your hand like it was a delicate flower “You have this” he placed it in the middle of his chest, you could feel his heart beating “You will always have this and because of that i’ll always find my way back to you doll, i promise” He held his pinky out

You nodded, connecting yours with his, a tear rolling down your cheek, you wanted to believe him so badly, you truly did but a small sliver of you knew it was too good to be true “Okay Buck”

He placed his forehead against yours “You and me till the end of the line doll”

Your legs were dangling off the roof, your phone lingering in your right hand. Your left is hovering over your heart.

Taking a deep breath you opened your call log, every single one was highlighted in red “Missed call Bucky Barnes” the last time he tried to call was over a week ago, he stopped leaving voicemails because your box was full.

You had this feeling inside you that this was gonna be your last fight, the final fight. Just like a year ago was the final fight for some of your teammates.

The phone started ringing, you held it to your ear and on the second ring you heard banging, a door shut before his voice came through the speakers “Y/n?”

You didn’t say anything your voice caught in your throat.

He could hear you breathing “Doll, please say something, anything”

Your mouth opened and shut numerous times, no words came out.

“I lov — “ He started but you never stuck around to hear the rest before hitting the big red button.

God, you were so stupid.

Two steps forward and one step back right?

Did you even take two steps forward? You had to of because this was most definitely one giant leap fucking back.

You could feel someone else coming up from behind you.

“Hey are you okay? I know we don’t know each other but i just cant help but feel a…” The tallest Peter started

“A connection” You both spoke at the same time, you watched his eyes light up and you gave him a small smile, you patted down on the roof beside you.

He eagerly accepted the invitation, you couldn’t help but shiver at the pure sunshine that radiated off of him, you could feel how pure and good he was, like your own Peter but this was different you could feel a longing for something, you could feel all the love he had to give like he was going explode at the seams but that spandex suit was holding it all together.

“I think it’s because of Peter” Your voice was soft, almost getting lost in the breeze

“Hmm?” His brows furrowed together

“The connection, it’s because of Peter. Him and I are…” Clearing your throat “Were close, and i can’t help but feel despite the different universe and all, that connection still there”

He nodded “It makes sense, definitely not the craziest idea out there”

“A couple years ago, maybe more than a couple actually. Nat, an old friend of mine, we were the only girls on the team so we’d have these girl days” You smiled at the memories “We both never got the chance to do all that girly stuff, so it was nice to just have dedicated time to that when we were not …”

“Save the world?” Peter chimed in, his dimples poking through

Laughing you continued “And we’d talk about all we all got here, to that exact moment in time, that maybe we all had these strings attached to us pulling us together. We all just had the same agenda, we all just wanted to help, to make the world a better, safer place. It was a connection we all just shared and I think that’s what made us work so well, because when that metaphorical string started to stray, it tore us apart and we lost.” You hung your head, staring at your lap “I’d like to think that connection carries through to other universe to and maybe it can pull us back together too”

He nodded “I like that idea, I don’t see why it couldn’t. When i lost Gwen, i was so mad at the universe it was so unfair but as the years went on i just kept hoping if the multiverse was real, which it clearly is” he gestured to everything around him “That if there was other me’s out there, they got there happy ending even if i didn’t, and it’s refreshing to see that they did”

“Maybe you just haven’t met your ‘MJ’ yet”

He was staring directly at the side of your face, admiring the way the moonlight shined off of it “Maybe”

“Ill manifest it for you Parker, you deserve your happy ending”

“So do you y/n”

You nodded, staying silent, watching your Peter lead Mj and Ned to the start of the tree line.

“You never answered my question y/n, are you okay?”

A shaky breath left your throat “Honestly? I dont think ill ever be okay, i’m not even sure if i even wanna bother trying, because i keep trying and trying to do good, to save people” You sighed feeling water well up in your eyes, as you turned to look at him “I’ve just had enough, i know this is selfish, i do but i’ve been giving for years” A tear rolled down your cheek “And i-i just wanna take, why can’t i have that” You pointed towards Peter, MJ and Ned who were hugging goodbye before they stepped through the portal that would keep them safe.

“I ask myself the same thing all the time, more so now that I’m here and see both the other Peters have someone, they made it work” He was fiddling with his hands “I keep wondering, racking my brain to where i went wrong”

You nodded in agreement wiping your tear away “Love just isn’t enough sometimes i guess”

He swallowed back all the thoughts of Gwen that were threatening to spill over “It should be though, why isn’t it?”

You shrugged placing a piece of hair behind your ear “I’ve been asking myself that for years”

He smiled down at his lap, this was so easy with you he thought “Yeah i heard, your old like old old” he tried lightening the mood

You laughed tossing your head back, as you bumped his shoulder with yours “You might be from a different universe but that’s not how we talk to the ladies here”

He was flirting, he doesn’t even remember the last time he flirted with someone but he knew for sure he wanted to hear that laugh again.

He laughed with you, raising his hands in defeat “Sorry sorry, my bad, i forget sometimes, it’s been awhile”

“I’ll let it slide just this once because you are right, I am old, who told you? Pete or his sidekick”

“His sidekick”

“See that’s why i don’t have one of those” You laughed “why? you wanna know my story or something?”

“I mean i can’t help but be curious about the most beautiful girl here”

You smiled, a blush creeping on your cheeks “Parker, if you haven’t noticed I’m the only girl here” you gestured to the surrounding area now that MJ was gone.

He cleared his throat before giving you a shy smile “I meant in this universe”

You head snapped forward and a gust a wind blew by causing shivers up your spine

He laughed “Was that you cause i’m thinking that was y —“

“You wanna hear it or you gonna keep talking?” Your tone was playful, a grin took over his face not that it ever left you dont think, he turned his whole body, sitting crossed legged to face you, his head resting in his right palm, as the stars shone off his eyes, you swallowed, your mouth suddenly dry “Well i was born June 3rd 1920, in New York. Um I met Bucky and Steve in 1930, we were inseparable yknow, Bucky and Steve went off to war, both perished or so we thought, obviously wasn’t true”

You were leaving out a lot but it wasn’t because you didn’t trust Peter you had just met him only hours earlier but because you were scared, that burning feeling was melting your heart back together, you were scared because it was happening too fast, too easily “After i found out about Steve it was 1945, i just remember running to our spot, i cried for hours, i must have fallen asleep, the next morning, i woke up here” You pointed to the house below you “And it was 2012”

His mouth dropped “And w-what about your powers?”

You shrugged “I woke up with those to, Bruce, um a really really smart man, he said i must have been born with it, something about my family’s bloodline and that traumatic event triggered it and” you used your hand to gesture to everything “mother nature felt i needed to be protected because whatever i have is sacred, or that i wasn’t needed yet because everyone has a purpose, a timeline and this was mine i guess”

“Like your destiny”

You nodded “Something like that”

He lifted his head out of his palm “So let me get this straight, you” he pointed at you “Plus your two best friends all born over a hundred years ago, all happened to get super powers, and miraculously cross paths again in the 20th century?”

“Yup” you smiled popping the P

He made the gesture of his mind exploding with a whooshing noise “My universe is so lame compared to yours”

“I dont think thats a bad thing, plus can’t be that boring it has you” This time you seen his face colour change to match the red on his suit

“That was smooth y/n, So where’s your other two hundred year old friends?” He could feel your heart rate speed up, you started to shift, fuck he thought, he went too far “You dont have to anwser that im sor -“

You put your hand up “Its fine, um Steve went back to the 1940s to be with Peggy, a girl, And Bucky he’s still here we just, we don’t talk anymore” You shrugged

His mouth went lopsided “Im sorry y/n”

“Its fine”

“You say that a lot”

“Because everything is fine, it’s always fine”

He placed his hand on yours that was resting in your lap “You deserve —“

A cough came from below “Hey are you two coming? I have a plan!” Your Peter was sticking his head out the window below.

Peter 3 pulled his hand off your almost immediately “Yeah, yup were coming”

“Cool” Your Peter gave you a thumbs up before pulling his head back inside the window.

“I forgot to ask” Peter 3 started, offering a hand to pull you up, you gladly took “How did you even get up here?”

“Um the air?”

“The air?”

“Yeah like i just” You moved your hands around him and he was suddenly floating

“Holy shit”

You laughed putting him back down.

“You have got to be the most amazing girl i’ve ever met, that was wow, you have to show me more”

“I will”

“You promise?” He held his pinky out

“I promise”

The door clicked shut, the rain stopped pattering on the windows, but god was the air in here thick. You don’t know why you were surprised being stuck in a room with two Peters, it was of course going to be awkward, it was in their nature.

“So, you have super powers?”

You looked away from the door landing on the voice of the Spider man that stitched you up “Yup”

“That’s so cool” He grinned, his eyes lighting up like a child on christmas, it made something warm run through your veins.

“I mean, you have ’super powers’ too”

He nodded “Yes but, i hear your’s are better”

You let a smile take over your face “Well, too bad we couldn’t swap for a day to put that theory to the test”

“Crazier things have happened” The older Spiderman in the corner pipped in.

“Yeah, what’s going on?” you gesture between them

“Well, i can’t tell you, your Peter’s side but i was just doing my nightly patrol and next thing i knew it was day time,  i was here, and it wasn’t my New York anymore”

You turned your head to the older Peter “About the same for me, i wasn’t doing patrol though, can i ask you something?”

“Yeah of course”

“Do you know how time works here? Because I have someone back home - in my universe, and it’s always been almost a full day since –”

“A full day? You’ve been here twenty four hours already?” You stood up clutching your side, walking towards the window.

The two Peters looked frantically at each other like they just got your Peter in trouble.

“H-he tried to call you earlier but we told him n-not t —“

You peaked over your shoulder “Lying for him already Parker?“

“W-what no!”

You tried to open the window but struggled because of your wound, tall Peter rushed over to help you. He moved to

lean against the window sill as you stuck your hand outside, closing your eyes “Time moves faster here, a minute there is an hour here, vise versa” Your eyes shot open, they were glowing white.

“Holy shi -“ The Peters spoke together, their voices blending as you listened to the universe, your universe.

The door opened and your Peter rushed in, followed by Ned and MJ, the hairs on the back of his neck stood up. His senses are going off the chart “What’s going on?!” he frantically looked around till he zeroed in on you. Eyes white, with your hand out the window vibrating ever so slightly.

“We don’t know, she wanted the window open then she stuck her hand out, closed her eyes said something about time here and boom, her eyes were white”

Your Peter rushed over to you, being careful because of your wound, slightly shaking you “Y/n?! Y/n?! What’s going on?”

You could hear the chatter around you, making out the sound waves of each voice but your consciousness was to far gone to fully hear what was going on but you could sense the anxiety in the room but you were so close so you kept going till you saw it.

The multiverse was breaking apart, tearing at the seams. You could see each crack in the timeline, each cracking coming from your universe and Peter took part in delivering the final blow.

You heard a small voice that you could make out Peter’s, your Peters “You’re scaring me y/n, please stop”

Your eyes closed shut before reopening focusing on everyone in the room, as you tried to keep your balance.

“What was that?” Peter’s voice was quiet

“The multiverse is shattered” You voice was quiet, in complete disbelief of how reckless you all were.

Your Peter placed his hands on his hips “Well, yeah” he gestured to the two other Spiderman’s standing behind him “That’s why they’re here”

“No Pete, that’s not at all what i meant” You ran your hand through your hair “God this is so bad Peter, have you heard from Strange?”

Peter turned to look at Ned and MJ, all of their faces had guilt written all over them “About that”

“What’d you do Pete? I need the full story now, this is so bad”

Peter 3 stepped from out behind your Peter “I hate to interrupt but your bleeding, you must of ripped your stitches”

You looked down and sure enough you were bleeding through your bandages “Screw this” you mumbled, ripping the white wrap off, you started pulling out stitches, holding back your tears.

“Woah woah woah, no no” . Fluffy hair Peter started waving his hands at you.

Your Peter put his hand out to stop him “No shes gonna heal them”

“How is that” he pointed towards you ripping out the final stitch “Gonna heal them”

“Just watch”

And he did, they all did as you closed your eyes, a small humming noise came from your throat, only the three with heightened senses picked it up as a glow started to illuminate from your hands, you skin started glowing around the claw marks in your skin and it slowly started to mend back together, leaving scars in there place.

Your Peter moved to stand by you because he knew after this was done you were going to be exhausted, last time this happened Peter almost didn’t catch you as you were falling from the side of a building after you finished healing Tony.

“Holy shit”

“Yeah, what he said?” The eldest Peter pointed towards Peter 3, stunned.

Your eyes opened and you started leaning backwards but a firm figure caught you “Thanks Pete”

“Let’s get you to the couch, i have a lot to tell you”

“That you do”

“That was so cool Miss. Y/L/N!”

You chuckled sitting on the couch “Thanks Ned”

“So, start talking”

And he did, like he always did, everything meshed into one giant sentence but you’ve known Peter long enough to sort the story out in your head.

Rubbing your temples “You’re telling me Strange, our Doctor Strange cast a spell for you, because everyone knows who you are and you couldn’t get into MIT because of it? And everyone that knows Peter Parker is Spiderman from other universes, is here?”

He nodded “Its not as bad as it sounds, I have a plan”

You ignored him, your mind racing to try and put the pieces together “Wait, so where is Strange?”

“Well um, i kind of left him in the Mirror Dimension”

“I can’t believe this” You placed your head in your hands, shaking your head

“I know its bad y/n, I messed up so bad, but I’m gonn –”

You stood up, heading towards the door, you were about to have a full blown panic attack and the only person you wanted to call right now was Bucky, and you knew you couldn’t do that, you shouldn’t do that but you were going to cave.

“Y/n, please don’t go i need your help, i do - “

‘“I’m not gonna leave you Pete, I promise. I just need a minute, this is a lot.” You reached for his shoulder giving it a small squeeze “Plus you need to get them” you pointed at Ned and MJ “Somewhere safe, and that isn’t here”

MJ started shaking her head “Nuh huh, were staying right here”

You peaked over his shoulder towards them “Unless either of you have any super powers, or abilities i’m not aware of then you go, i’m not gonna be responsible for someone else’s blood on my hands” with that you shut the door behind you, making your way to the roof.

“She’s so cool” Ned breathed out

MJ turned to him “She just kicked us out”

Ned nodded vigorously “Yeah, we just got kicked out of an Avenger safe house by an Avenger, so cool”

She gave a small smile “Kinda cool”

Peter 1 turned towards them “She’s right though, you guys should go somewhere that isn’t anywhere near all of this”

“I can portal us to my Lola’s”

MJ lifted up Doctor Strange’s box “But were taking this with us”

2016

“You can’t honestly be thinking of signing this y/n?” Steve was pacing as he held up the Sokovia Accords.

What’s so bad about wanting to keep this” you pointed to all the Avengers in the room “Together, we do this together but i think the best way to fight those is to stay together, so we figure a way out“

“One hand on the wheel” Natasha smiled, nodding towards you

Steve ignored her “Y/n, if we sign these we’d be signing ourselves over to people like Hydra, the ones that took Bucky”

“How dare you bring Bucky into this” You pointed at Steve “This has nothing to do with him!”

He dropped the accords on the table “This has everything to do with him, he wouldn’t want you to sign this y/n! I don’t want you to sign this, we’re all we have left!” His features softened when he watched you flitch at his tone, lowering his voice he continued “Which is why we gotta stay together y/n”

“Give me a break Cap” Tony placed his drink down pinching his nose “If Y/n wants to sign let her sign” He came over and gave your shoulder a squeeze “At least one of you old timers seems to have a solid head on their shoulders”

Steve’s jaw clenched “Governments are run by people with agendas, and agendas change.”

Present

“Are you sure this is it? Its like in the middle of nowhere”

You nodded, grabbing cash out of your pocket “Yeah, this is it”

“I can take you further if you want”

Giving him a $100 bill, you shook your head “Its fine, thank you”

“Superheroes,” he muttered under his breath before driving back down the mainroad.

You watched the lights fade as you started walking forward, the gravel road crunching under your shoes.

You always loved nature, even before you found out what you were capable of. It was always a safe space for you, no judgement, just peace and quiet. You always wondered if maybe that was why you were gifted the way you were, your Grandmother before she passed when you were 10 she used to tell you all the time about how you were destined for great things, that she saw the life you were destined to live, and she told you to keep pushing through that the sun would shine upon you.

At the time you thought it was due to old age because that was crazy, but it turns out it wasn’t but you were still waiting for the sun to shine because all you could see was clouds and even now out in nature your mind was plagued with old memories invading your every thought, and never usually the good kind.

The Accords were what tore the team apart and you couldn’t help but think if you wouldnt of signed them then maybe things between Bucky and you would have been different, maybe Steve wouldn’t have left and maybe you wouldn’t be as alone as you were now. .

You were jittering, wrapping your arms around yourself to comfort you from your own mind.

Why were you so anxious? It was just Peter, young sweet Peter.

Peter Parker the one you haven’t seen or reached out to since Tony’s funeral and that was what 7 or 8 months ago, it had to have been almost a year. Time was flying by and you were doing nothing but watching it.

You should have checked up on him, it’s what Tony wanted you to do, he didn’t ask anything of you in his letter to you from his will he pretty much handed over ‘Superhero parent guardianship over the creepy crawler’ to you and you failed him.

But you had to try to give yourself the benefit of the doubt right? Because you were on your way to help him now, that has to count for something. And Tony didn’t know Steve was going to leave and Bucky was going to take half of you with him, abandoning the rest on the side of the road like excess baggage.

Your thoughts were loud but nothing was as loud as the rustling you heard coming from the bushes.

You froze “Who’s there” you lifted your hand up letting it illuminate light so you could see better “I’m not going to ask again”

You used your other hand to wave the trees to sway to the left, you saw glowing eyes staring back at you “Is that a threat?” was all your heard before a giant fucking lizard charged at you, his claw got your side before you had time to react fully.

“What the — “ You screamed, using the air around you to swirl around whatever the heck that thing was, lifting him off the ground and sending it far away from you. You heard it shouting at you as strong gusts of wind carried the creature with it.

You laid there clutching your side, panting. Staring up at the stars “Was that my punishment for not checking up on Pete?” You asked absolutely no one, but a small breeze made the bushes to the right of you sway, showing a dim light illuminating in the distance.

The house.

You grunted pushing yourself up “Was totally my punishment” you mumbled under your breath, as you limped towards the house.

“We could ask for more help”

“We have 3 Spidermans. What more help could we use?”

Ned shrugged “Other Avengers, there still some left with cool powers”

Peter 2 and 3 shared a confused look “Avengers?” Peter 2 questioned.

Peter 1’s eyes opened in shock “Neither of you have the Avengers?” he pointed between them “Thor? Captain America? Iron man?”

Peter 3 shook his head “Are they a band? Those are some awesome names”

Peter shook his head vigorously “No there earth’s mightiest heroes! I can’t believe you don’t have them”

The older Peter stepped forward “Will they help us? The more the merrier”

Ned cleared his throat “Well, lots of them are uh dead after Thanos, or off world, retired or gone rogue” he paused “But I know there’s for sure three that could help!”

The youngest Peter brought his eyebrows together “H-how do you know that?”

He shrugged “I tapped into one of your phone calls with Happy by accident”

“We’ll deal with that later but i could ask Y/n but i don’t know if she’ll answer she’s been distant since Mr.Stark”

“Drama in the superhero world?” Ned asked eagerly crossing his arms

“What about the other two?” Peter 3 questioned, ignoring Ned.

“I’m not, um close with them, I kicked their bu - ass’s one time in a fight and well i just don’t think that would go over very well”

Peter reached into his pocket grabbing his phone, staring at your number, he was hesitant he hasn’t spoken to you in months. It almost felt wrong bringing you into his mess, a mess that wouldn’t have happened if he went to you first.

“Hey Pete, you don’t have to do this” MJ reached over placing her hand in his

He gave her a soft smile “Yeah i do” he pressed on your number, it rang a few times he didn’t expect you to answer so fast “Y/n, I-I need your help, i mes -” he got up, leaving the room.

“So, Avengers” The older Peter tried to ease the silence after Peter 1 left

“Yeah what kind of powers does y/n have? Is she super strong, or fast, or is she magic too?”  Peter 3 quipped excitedly

“Oh she has the coolest powers!” Ned started his eyes wide with excitement “She controls everything”

“Everything?” The Peters said in together

“Yeah like, the elements she can do whatever she wants with them, or like everything that has matter i think, i’m honestly not really sure that’s just what i’ve seen online” He shrugged casual

“That sure is something” The eldest Peter said in awe

“How do you get powers like that? Like did she get knocked over by the wind or something” Peter 3 quipped

“Uh no it’s actually super sad and complicated, they have her story in the smithsonian Peter knows it better then me, he wouldn’t stop bugging her for months about it, i think she was chosen? like by the earth or nature like the earth incubated her in the 40s after Captain America died, then she just showed up out of -“.

This universe Peter entered the room, Ned stopped talking almost immediately. Peter kept his phone in his hand, his eyes still lingering on it, he didn’t have to have the senses he did to know all the eyes were on him awaiting an answer, he cleared his throat “She’s on her way”

“That’s great! I’ve always wanted to meet her, this is so cool she’s like my 3rd favourite Avenger, well i guess she’s first now ever since –”

“Ned.” MJ glared at him, nudging him to stop.

“Oh, sorry dude”

Peter 1 waved it off “Just don’t bring up the Avengers okay? Especially Captain America and Sergeant Barnes, Please” His eyes looked over everyone, he received nods from everyone even though two of them in the room had no idea who they were. He knew Steve leaving was hard on you, that’s what Happy kept telling him about why you needed space from everything but then Peter read online about how the Falcon and Winter soldier were doing missions together and you weren’t there. So he knew something more was going on.

He sighed, rubbing his hands down his face, hoping that with y/n helping a weight would be lifted off his shoulders.

“You know you can talk to us right? I mean at the end of all this we won’t even be here in this universe anymore, and we don’t even know any of these people so we are not biassed towards anyone” Peter 3 offered a kind smile.

Peter thought about it before opening his mouth “It’s just there’s no one left, before it was so amazing, the avengers we were such a good team, i mean from the experience i have and i was only close with Mr. Stark and Y/N but from the stories they told me it was just like the best and now its all gone, everyones well gone” He paused before taking a seat on the couch next to MJ “There’s only a handful of us left and were divided again, not that we were even a team to start with and i just feel this weight on my shoulders, like i have these shoes to fill, there big shoes, and I know everyone has their own things to deal with and y/n has a lot going on, but i should have called her sooner, it’s just a mess, everything is a mess” he paused looking up at everyone “I have to fix it”

Before anyone could respond there was a knock at the door, Peter paused jumping off the chair “That must be her” he walked towards the door.

“That was oddly fast” Peter 3 spoke to no one in particular

“They’re called super heros for a reason” Ned laughed

Peter took a big breath before opening the door revealing you clutching your side “Hi Pete” you offered him a smile that most certainly did not reach your eyes.

His eyes shot down to your side, he quickly ushered you inside “W-what happened? Your bleeding” He wrapped his arm around your waist as you hobbled further inside.

“You weren’t kidding” You let out an airy laugh as your eyes scanned the room, just as you rounded the corner, 8 pairs of eyes peering into you.

“Are you okay?” An older gentleman wearing a suit shot up.

“Yeah there’s just like a giant lizard running around, and I was just not paying attention, distracted” you gestured to your head. ”It’s fine really, I just need the first aid kit over there” You pointed towards the bathroom.

The tallest Spider Man wasted no time in running over to retrieve it, as you took your arm off your side, you unzipped your jacket, your white shirt was now stained red.

“Why weren’t you wearing your suit y/n!” Your Peter raised his voice slightly “Mr. Stark said —“

“Do you wear yours everywhere you go?” You cut him off giving  him a slight shove “And i do have it” you raised your arm showing him the bracelet around your left wrist “I just didn’t have time to activate it because i was caught off guard by a giant lizard” you took your white top off, just in your black sports bra now “Oh wow he got me good” 2 big gashes a couple inches long grazed your side.

The middle Peter was frantically going through the kit “I’m so sorry, i’ve been there” he pointed at your wound “It sucks, c- can i?”

You nodded, as he started to disinfect the wound “So this is quite a mess hey”

His eyes shot down to his feet “I know, I’m so –”

You put your hand up “Don’t apologise Pete, people make mistakes things happen, it’s okay” a shaky breath left your throat as the middle Peter brought out a needle to stitch you up.

“How can you say that? This is all my fault”

“We all make mistakes, but we fix them or we try our best to, that’s what matters”

“Mr. Stark would have been so mad at me”

“Yeah, he would have been” Peter’s eyes suddenly left yours, you reached your hand out to grab his “But he made so many mistakes to Pete, please stop being so hard on yourself, nobody’s perfect”

“An Avenger should be, i need to do better”

You smiled “The Avengers were far from perfect, they are probably the most imperfect group of heroes ever”  Peter 3 was now bandaging your side, he gave you a slight nod as he finished.

“Thank you” You gave him the best smile you could but he didn’t even have to know you like your Peter did to see how it didn’t reach your eyes.

He felt flustered for the first time in a long time as your big ocean eyes stared into his, he scratched the back of his head “It’s not a problem really, he is my villain and all” he felt his heart slightly break as you turned to face your Peter again.

“So, are you gonna fill me in i have no idea what’s going on and why there’s two other versions of you standing in a safe house i swore id never come back to”

Peter’s mouth felt open as he looked around and he pointed at the ground “This is the…?” He trailed off knowing if his thoughts were true he wouldn’t need to finish

You nodded before you could answer another voice piped in.

“Wait, you don’t know what’s going on? You haven’t seen the news but your an Ave —“

“Ned” Peter’s and MJ voices meshed into one

Peters eyes looked back to you, you could see the sincerity in them “It’s fine Pete, uh no i haven’t seen the news, i’ve been out of the loop for awhile” You could feel your heart rate rise as it suddenly started raining outside, all eyes were on you as you swallowed the lump in your throat, 3 people in this room could surely hear how your heart rate picked up and 1 for sure knew that the rain outside wasn’t a confidence.

You could tell Peter was having an internal battle with himself, he reached out and gave your hand a squeeze before turning to his two friends “Can i uh, talk to you two outside?”

“Us?” MJ pointed between Ned and her

Peter nodded, walking towards the front door.

“But it’s raining”

Peters eyes went back to you “Not for long”

The two of them reluctantly got up, you closed your eyes again, you haven’t been so out of control of your powers in a long time, you were better than this, but were you really?

You couldn’t think of a good memory anymore to calm you down because they were all tainted.

THIS IS A SERIES: one-two-three-four-five-six-seven-eight-epilogue

‘’Where’s Peter?’’ You asked them once as you let go of MJ and Ned from your embrace.

Panic flooded through you when you remembered that he had been hit by the Green Goblin. ‘’Is he okay?’’ You questioned them as your eyes darted between the two. ‘’He’s over there,’’ MJ answered and pointed behind you. The shield that had fallen from the statue was now on the ground.

You could see Norman and Peter fighting against each other but the thing was that Norman wasn’t even fighting back. You watched with horror as Peter kept punching him and you’ve spent your life trying to protect him away from the darkness.

Peter held Norman’s glider in his hands and before he could throw it, he was stopped by Peter 2. Peter gritted his teeth with anger in his eyes as he tried to push the glider against Peter 2. He grunted with anger with every push he tried to do past by Peter 2 but it was no use. Peter 2 froze as his eyes were wide when he felt Norman stab him in the back. He gasped and fell to the ground.

‘’She’s dead because of you, I may have struck her, but you…You are the one that killed her,’’ Norman told him as he began to laugh menacingly. Peter 3 threw a knife at Peter, you watched him with horror as he stabbed Norman in the neck. He fell to the ground as you watched blood pour out.

Both Peters ran to Peter on the ground. ‘’You okay?’’ Peter 3 asked as Peter 2 laughed while lying on the floor. ‘’Yeah, I’ve been stabbed multiple times,’’ Peter 2 responded while Peter 3 helped him stand up. ‘’Okay, let me help you up,’’ He told him as Peter 2 groaned in pain as Peter 1 looked at them. ‘’I have to go and see Doctor Strange, I’ll be back,’’ Peter told them and pointed towards Doctor Strange on top of the statue. They both nodded and watched him swing away.

‘’I’m going to go over there with them, you wanna come with me?’’ You asked MJ and gestured your head towards them. MJ nodded and then looked at Ned. ‘’Yeah,’’ She answered. The three of you walked over to the two Peters. ‘’Hey, what’s going on?’’ You questioned as you looked between the two.

‘’I think this might be it,’’ You heard a voice behind you as you whipped your head and saw Peter. He met your eyes and he was relieved that you were still alive. You watched Peter as he walked towards the other Peters. ‘’Look, I uh, thank you, I just, I- I want to tell you…’’ Peter stumbled between his words. ‘’Peter, we know, it what we do,’’

Peter looked at them with a comforting smile before he pointed towards MJ and Ned. ‘’I guess, I’m gonna talk to my friends, thank you,’’ Peter told them. ‘’For everything,’’ They nodded and watched him go to MJ and Ned. You watched Peter go to Ned and MJ as you felt Peter 3’s gaze on you.

You approached the two of them. ‘’How’s your wound?’’ You asked Peter 2 with a concerned gaze. ‘’I have been through worse,’’ Peter 2 responded with a chuckle. He looked between the two of you. ‘’I will let you talk with him alone,’’ He told you as you sent him a smile and watched him stumble away.

You felt his hand sneaking around your waist as he dragged you closer to his body and placed his forehead against yours. ‘’I guess, this is the end,’’ He mumbled as you met his eyes. ‘’Yeah,’’ You nodded. ‘’Will I ever see you again?’’ He asked as you looked into his eyes. ‘’Something is telling me that we will see each other again,’’ You answered.

You heard footsteps approaching you and you turned your head and saw Peter coming towards you. ‘’Hey, we need to talk,’’ Peter told you as you looked at him concerned. You looked at Peter 3 before you followed him to Ned and MJ. ‘’You’re going to forget who I am,’’ He revealed as soon the four of you gathered.

‘’Excuse me-’’

‘’What?’’ MJ and you spoke at the same time.

‘’It’s okay, I’ll come to find you guys and I’ll explain, I’ll make you remember me,’’ You looked at him with a concerned expression. ‘’Yeah? And what if that doesn’t work? What if we can’t remember you?’’ You rambled. ‘’I don’t wanna do that,’’ Peter looked at you. ‘’There’s nothing we can do,’’

‘’So we’ll just completely forget you? After everything, we had been through?’’ You exclaimed with a lump in your throat. ‘’It’s the only way…’’ Peter responded sadly.

‘’Promise you’ll find us?’’ Ned spoke.

‘’I promise,’’ Peter whispered and did his signature handshake, a final goodbye. Peter looked at you, as he could see tears streaming down your face. ‘’You have to come to find us, Peter, It won’t be the same,’’ You told him and shook your head. Peter looked at you and embraced you tightly.

‘’I know,’’

‘’It’s happening,’’ You heard Doctor Strange’s voice. You all turned to him as you could see the sky turned into purple and split in the middle. You looked at Stephen with concern. ‘’What’s happening?’’ You called out as he tried to stop whatever is happening come through. He looked at you.

‘’They’re starting to come through and I can’t stop it,’’ He told you as you saw different shadows of people trying to come through. ‘’There’s got to be another way,’’ Peter said.

‘’There is a way,’’ He responded and looked at you. ‘’My magic is not strong for this, but you…’’

‘’No, no way,’’ You stopped him and shook his head. ‘’I’m not doing this and you both know why,’’ You argued as you felt fear coursing through. ‘’Y/N we don’t have time, any second now, people from different of the multiverse will breakthrough and there’s nothing we could do and stop them,’’

‘’I- I can’t…’’ You gulped.

‘’It’s the only way…’’ He responded. You looked at Peter for help. ‘’You can do this, Y/n,’’ Peter 3 said as he approached you. ‘’But what if…’’ You began to say as he cut you off. ‘’There’s no if, you can do it, and I know you will because we all believe in you,’’ Peter 3 assured as he held your hand.

You looked at him and nodded. ‘’Remember what we taught you,’’ Stephen told you. You looked at him and began to close your eyes. You felt your magic through your veins and as you opened your eyes, they began to glow purple. You began to do the spell and remember Wanda’s words and as well Stephen echoed through your mind.

But you felt something strange.

‘’Something is wrong,’’ You spoke.

‘’What’s happening, Y/n?’’ You heard Stephen’s question.

‘’I don’t know,’’ You answered. You began to feel pain in your stomach and you felt that you were losing control. You could hear Peter 3’s voice and Stephen calling your name in the background but to you it was quiet. A sudden bright light surrounded them all that had them cover their eyes.

And suddenly, everything went quiet.

‘’Did she do it?’’ Peter 1 questioned. Peter 3 looked at his hand and saw it begin to glow.

‘’She did it,’’ He answered as Peter 1 watched them disappear.

‘’But where is she?’’ Stephen asked. Peter looked at him.

‘’Where’s Y/N?’’

THIS IS A SERIES:one-two-three-four-five-six-seven-eight - epilogue

You were hurting.

You tried not to think about it, but it was hard not to.

You were worried. So worried for him and you knew that he could take care of himself. You wondered if this was fate. That the two of you were meant to be with each other no matter the odds.

MJ noticed your expression when you walked out of the balcony and she knew that something was going on between you and Peter 3. All of them noticed it but they didn’t ask.

You sighed and fidgeted your fingers nervously. ‘’When is he going to throw the box to us?’’ Ned asked for the millionth time. You didn’t blame him since the three of you were nervous. You wanted to help them but you were too scared of using your powers so you stayed behind with Ned and MJ.

‘’I don’t know when the signal comes,’’ You responded and gulped. ‘’Wait, there’s Peter!’’ MJ’s voice called out as you saw a portal approaching you. You looked at her and saw Spiderman swinging towards you. ‘’Where?’’ You questioned and moved closer so you could see him.

‘’MJ, heads up!’’ He shouted and swung from pole to pole and threw the box. MJ crouched and caught it just in time. ‘’Close it, Ned!’’ You yelled as he nodded and began to move his finger to close it but it never did. ‘’Why isn’t it closing?’’ You replied with a shaky voice. ‘’It’s not closing,’’ MJ stated as both of you looked over Ned.

‘’Why?’’

‘’I-I don’t know!’’ Ned panicked as he repeated his movements desperately. ‘’Have you closed it before?’’ MJ asked and tilted her head. ‘’No! I mean, I’ve opened-’’

‘’Ned! Why didn’t you let us know before?’’ MJ shouted as you closed your eyes. ‘’Oh, we’re so screwed,’’ You commented. ‘’It just slipped my mind!’’ Ned yelled panicked. ‘’Okay, just keep trying,’’ You told him as you tried to calm him down.

‘’Do you want me to try instead?’’ You asked him. ‘’No, I won’t let you do it since we both know your powers are uncontrollable,’’ Ned stated as he hid the ring away. You looked at him with amusement. ‘’For the love of god, Ned-’’ You two kept bickering while you heard MJ’s voice.

‘’Guys!, No, No,’’ She panicked as you felt MJ pull you away from Ned. ‘’And that’s a lizard,’’ You stated with wide eyes and saw the lizard running towards all of you. Ned tried to close the portal as both of you and MJ began to yell. You pulled Ned as all of you ran back to screaming with fear.

You heard him roar and before you could process what was happening, a web was shot and Peter kicked him in the back. The Lizard roared as wood was flying everywhere and you could hear MJ scream. ‘’Run!’’ The three of you were running out of the portal and through the scaffolding. You looked up and saw Stephen walking out of the portal and you gulped when you saw your mentor’s expression. ‘’Where is he?’’ He asked you and met your eyes as he took the box away from MJ and Ned. ‘’Wait, wait, the plan is working! Peter is curing them,’’ Ned tried to explain as you all turned to behind to see Peter Parker standing near a green smoke.

‘’Well, I’ll be damned,’’ Stephen muttered and turned back towards Ned with a frown. ‘’Did you just open a portal?’’ Ned nodded. ‘’Yes, sir, I did,’’

‘’Several times, actually,’’ You agreed as Stephen looked at you. ‘’Is it over?’’ You asked as you looked over and saw Peter 3 with his mask off as he talked with Electro. The older Peter was talking to Doc Ock. ‘’Not yet,’’ Stephen answered and disappeared into another portal. You watched as he was in front of your Peter as he yelled Peter’s name and soon enough the others Peter went to join him.

You let out a small laugh towards the scene. ‘’After this, I need to take a long nap,’’ You commented and looked at MJ. MJ hummed in response and stood next to you as she placed her head on top of your shoulder. Suddenly, everything went quiet when you saw the fear on their faces.

‘’Can the Spiderman come out and play?’’ A voice called out as the green goblin came out with his slider. You looked at him with horror as you saw that he threw out his device in the air. The bomb blew up while he took the chance to steal the box from Stephen. ‘’Strange, no!’’ You screamed as the bomb went off. An explosion made your ears ring. Black smoke was covered in the sky as you felt the poles shake.

The Statues shield crashed through the poles and before you knew it, you could feel that you were falling down. You let out a breath while you saw that both MJ and Ned tried to help you from falling. Everything fell silent and it felt like everything was in slow motion but yet it happened so fast.

You could hear MJ and Ned scream in the background. You closed your eyes and almost accepted it, that this was the end. But you saw Peter, your brother fall for you before the green goblin threw him away from you. Peter 3 saw you falling as he leaped off the statue for you.

He needed to be alive for him.

His body fell towards you tightly around the waist as your face was buried into his neck. Your body shivered with fear as Peter shot webs to the top of a pole once he landed on the ground. Nobody said anything at first as he let you breathe for a second.

‘’Are you okay?’’ He asked, his voice shaking. You looked up with him, fear crossing your face, and nodded. You saw him as he tried to hold back a sob. You looked at him with sympathy before you cupped his cheek. He leaned in your hand as he placed his forehead on top of yours.

This time when the two of you leaned into each other, Peter didn’t hesitate to place his lips against yours. The kiss was bittersweet and it was known that maybe fate was planning that the two of you belonged to each other.

You gasped as the two of you tried to catch your breath as you looked into his eyes. ‘’Thank you for saving me,’’ You replied as you wiped the tears from his face. He smiled at you. ‘’I’m just relieved that I got a second chance,’’ He responded as he placed you back to the ground.

‘’Peter’s fighting Norman,’’ You told him as he nodded. ‘’I should probably go back,’’ He commented as you nodded. ‘’I’ll be back,’’ He replied before he kissed you one more time before he went back to Peter.

THIS IS A SERIES:one-two-three-four-five-six-seven-eight - epilogue

‘’It is weird, isn’t it?’’ Ned’s voice gained your attention back to him. You took your eyes off Peter 3.

‘’What is weird?’’ You asked him with a frown. ‘’That we found out that multiverse is real and there are other spidermen and where you have a crush on one of them considering that Peter 1 is literally like your brother?’’ Ned spoke.

You looked at him with wide eyes. ‘’I do not-’’ You began to say as he waved you off. ‘’Save the details,’’ He shrugged it off. You only stared at him blankly. ‘’It doesn’t matter anyway, I’m going to die soon, it’s no point.’’ You shrugged. Ned looked at you with sadness before he glanced back at Peter 3.

‘’Go and talk to him,’’ Ned told you as you looked at him. ‘’I know you said it wasn’t the point to get to know him, but both of you lost the people you loved and it wouldn’t hurt anyway since he’s going to go back to his world when we’re done with this,’’ Ned responded as you looked at him.

He had a good point.

You let out a deep breath before turning one last glance at Ned. ‘’Wish me good luck,’’ You muttered as he sent you an encouraging grin before you walked towards Peter 3. Your heart started to race fast and Peter 3 could hear it. He didn’t know why he felt this way but when he knew that you were going to approach him, he felt excited.

He hasn’t met someone like you. Not after when he lost Gwen and when Gwen died, he longed to feel the love that Gwen gave to him whenever she was near. He grew hopeless, thinking that he maybe was destined to be alone for the rest of his life.

That was until when he met you. He had heard about you in his universe, but in his world, you were a villain. He only heard the rumors about a girl born with the fate that was already destined to be the destroyer of the world. To end all of the Sorcerer supreme.

Unlike the others, he pitied you.

He saw from the corner of his eye that you approached him. But before you could talk to him, MJ approached you. His expression dropped. ‘’Hey, sorry for interrupting, but I convinced our Peter to talk to you,’’ MJ told you. You looked at her. ‘’No matter how angry he is, he can’t lose you, and both of you know it,’’ MJ responded.

‘’He’s standing at the balcony,’’ MJ informed as she gestured towards the balcony where you could see Peter 1 standing. You nodded as you walked towards Peter 1. The fresh air hit you once as you opened the door before you stood next to him. Nobody said anything at first while the two of you looked at New York.

‘’I know that you still hate me for what I did,’’ You replied as you kept staring at New York. You could feel Peter’s gaze on you. ‘’But you should know that I never meant to hurt you,’’ You told him and met his eyes.

‘’But I can’t let you die,’’ Peter commented with tears in his eyes.

‘’I know,’’ You whispered. ‘’But we don’t have a choice,’’

‘’There’s always a choice,’’ Peter began to say. ‘’Not this time,’’ You answered and shook your head. Peter looked at you. ‘’Are you sure? Have you ever asked about it?’’ Peter questioned. ‘’Or even tried to stop it?’’

‘’Of course, I have, Peter, there’s no other way,’’ You replied. ‘’New beginnings have an ending and there’s nothing we can’t change about it,’’ You told him.

-

You stood alone while Peter was with the others. You needed some time alone to think about your life. You didn’t want to die. You wanted to live but when the prophecy was already settled, you knew that you didn’t have a choice.

You heard the door open from behind as you turned around and much to your surprise, you saw Peter 3. ‘’Are you okay? I haven’t seen you inside for a while,’’ He responded with an assuring smile. ‘’I’m fine,’’ You replied with a smile. But Peter could tell that something was bothering you.

‘’Something else is bothering you, I can see it, you can’t lie to me, you know?’’ He chuckled and stood next to you. ‘’It took my whole life to understand if there’s something worth fighting for,’’ You spit it out. You didn’t know why you were opening up to some stranger but you and Peter 3 did become very close in a very short time.

You’ve always felt different around your friends, and even to your so-called brother. ‘’I feel like I’m not capable of doing anything and I’m justtired,’’ You confessed and closed your eyes. Peter looked at you and you felt his hands on your shoulders. ‘’Look at me,’’ You opened your eyes and met his brown ones. You never realized until now how beautiful they were.

‘’Listen to me, I know how you feel and we both are tired and it’s okay to feel like this,’’ He assured you. ‘’When I lost Gwen, I was tired of life, I was thinking that I had done something wrong that maybe I was destined to be alone maybe forever, but did you know what I did?’’ He questioned as you shook your head.

‘’I kept fighting, again and again,’’

You didn’t say anything but kept quiet. You looked at his face and you almost got lost in his eyes. Without the two of you knowing, you two kept leaning into each other. From almost day one, you had felt that you needed to be close with Peter. You didn’t know why but something drew you closer to him.

It took entire Peter’s strength to pull him back away from you. He didn’t want to look at your face since he knew that it hurt you too. ‘’Peter…’’ You began to say and he shook his head and it’s almost you could hear his thoughts.

‘’Don’t,’’ He began and stepped away from you slowly. You looked at him with tears in your eyes. ‘’I don’t want you to end up like her,’’ Peter told you as you tried to swallow the lump in your throat. ‘’I know,’’ You whispered. ‘’But she would’ve wanted you to be happy,’’ You assured him.

‘’I don’t want this, I want to protect you, even from myself,’’

‘’Just please…’’ You pleaded. ‘’Just let me love you,’’ You responded.

‘’This shouldn’t have happened,’’ Peter said before he walked away from you, leaving you all alone on the balcony. You tried to stop him but he could walk away. You fell on the floor with your hand on your stomach, broken.

His Kryptonite

Peter Parker x Reader

Peter gets sprayed with bug spray. Spoiler alert, he doesn’t have a good reaction

“Stop! Peter, stop!” you laugh and giggle as he pokes at you.

“What? What? What do you mean?” Peter laughs and lunges to wrap his arms around you, pulling you back against his chest as you both laugh.

“S-stop,” you wheeze, “the food is ready. We have to go.”

“Oh? You want food more than to hang with me?” he raises his eyebrow at you.

“Hm, you or food? I think I’ll pick food!” you say and try to laugh and get out of his grip.

“Wow, ok. Food doesn’t save the world, though,” Peter jokes.

“Wanna bet?” you laugh.

Peter laughs and shakes his head, finally letting his arms go lax and let you go. “I don’t know what’s hurt worse, my feelings or my ego,” Peter says in a fake hurt tone and sad look.

“Mhm, yeah, I’m sure you can talk to Tony about that ego thing. He probably has something to fix that,” you snicker and head toward your bedroom door. Peter gasps and runs at you again, making you laugh and try to open the door to get away from him, only to get trapped between his arms and the hallway wall. “What, did I lie?”

“No… guess not,” he smirks.

It’s a moment of silence as you both look at each other, all while he has you pinned to the wall, and after a moment, you lean up and place a tender kiss on his lips. He melts into the kiss, leaning his body more on yours.

“Ahem.” You pull away at the sound of someone clearing their throat. “There are kids here, ya know? Keep all the ick somewhere else,” Darrell, your brother, says. “And the food’s ready.”

You laugh and roll your eyes, turning to walk toward the kitchen, Peter not far behind. You both walk into the kitchen, the smell of food hitting your nose and making your mouth water.

You and Peter walk toward the living room, wanting to sit on the couch and wait for your mom to give the ok that everyone can eat. “What are you doing?” you look confused at Dominic, Darrell’s twin brother.

“There was a spider, and I don’t know where it went,” he says, spraying near the ceiling but also out into the air.

“Stop spraying that stuff everywhere. We’re about to eat,” you say.

“What? Scared of a little buy spray?” he mocks, turning the can toward you and spraying some at you.

It was only a little, but the bottle he’s using sprays a large area, so it didn’t only hit you, but it hit Peter also.

“Ugh. Really?” you scrunch your face and scoff, Peter starting to cough behind you. “Ma! Can you get your son and tell him to stop trying to kill us all with this bug spray!” you yell toward the kitchen.

“BOY! Stop using all my spray and sit down!” you hear her yell over the sound of Peter still coughing.

“I was just trying to get the spider!” he whines.

“Imma put a spider in your food if you don’t sit yo butt down and put my can away!”

Dominic turns around and gives you a mean look before leaving the living room. It’s now that you realize Peter is still coughing. You turn around, seeing him with his face buried in his arm as he wheezes. “Hey? You ok?’ you ask, concern in your voice as you put your hand on Peter’s arm.

He tries to stop coughing, but it turns into wheezes for air. "C-can'tbeathe! Can'tbreathe!” he says franticly, pointing to his throat and desperately trying to get air into his lungs.

Your eyes go wide, and you notice how pale he now looks. His eyes beat red, and tears started to run from them. “Peter? Hey, hey, Peter!” Peter falls to his knees, clawing at his throat and feeling it squeeze closed.

“Is everything ok? What’s wrong? What happened?” your mom asks her, and Marcus, your other little brother, comes to find out what all the commotion is.

You thought for a moment, and it started to sink in. Peter got hit with the bug spray. Technically, he’s part spider. He could be dying.

Peter starts feeling dizzy, and you get on your knees so you’re level with him. “Pete, I- I don’t know what to do…” you put your hands on his face. You thought hearing Peter gasp for help was bad, but then he goes completely silent, and your heart skips a beat. He stops making noise altogether, his eyes glazing over and his body feeling heavy. His weight leans into you, his head falling to your shoulder. You’d think he went unconscious, but there’s still the tiny movement of his body trying every few seconds to inhale.

You scramble to get your phone, quickly finding Tony’s contact. “Mr. Stark! Peter got hit with bug spray! I- I think he’s dying.”

Tony is quick to understand and told you to wait. He’d come as quick as possible with a solution. But who knew how long Peter had. Maybe his body could fight the spray, but maybe it can’t. Maybe there’s no way to save him at this point.

Within 10 minutes, there’s a knock on the door. Tony. You let him in and ignore the looks of surprise and confusion you get from your family. “What’s that?” you ask, watching him kneel down to your unconscious boyfriend laid on the floor and pull out a vile.

“A sedative,” he says, lifting up one of Peter’s sleeves and sticking it to his arm.

“Wait- sedative?? Won’t that stop his body from fighting the spray?!” you say, a little louder than you liked.

“You the scientist?” You can only blankly stare at him, closing your mouth from saying anything else. He sighs, “The sedative will settle his senses and powers, meaning he’s more normal for the moment, and instead of attacking him, his body will react more normally. Meaning not at all.”

Like on cue, Peter’s eyes shot open, and he woke up with a sharp gasp of air. “What? What happened?” he pants, still trying to catch his breath. You sigh and get down next to him, pulling him into a hug.

“You’re gonna need some rest, kid,” Tony speaks up, pulling your attention to him. He nods, still not fully understanding why but agreeing. Tony stands, turning to your family -who’s standing like deers in headlights- and smiles. “So, what are we having for dinner?”

“Darrell, come help me,” you say, standing and trying to help Peter up.

He snaps out of his daze and walks over. You don’t miss the hint of hesitation in his walk. He lets Peter put his arm around his shoulders, and both of you start walking him back toward your room. You make it to your room and help him on your bed, turning to Darrell, who’s still just standing there, not really knowing what to do.

“Get out,” you say with a fake smile and push him back through the door, closing it behind him. You let out a breath and turn back to Peter, climbing in bed with him and laying back. “How ya feeling?”

“Like I got sprayed with death,” he mumbles, turning and climbing on top of you, getting under the blankets and laying between your legs, the back of his head laid on your stomach.

You bring your hand up and run it through his hair. “Yeah, guess the bug spray is a big no no,” you say gently. He hums in response, closing his eyes and letting them rest.

You stay like that for about 3 minutes before your door slowly opens, the rest of your family, and Tony with a plate in his hand behind them, steps through. Your mom is the first to speak up. “You got a lot of explaining to do.”

You internally cringe, knowing there’s really no way out of this. You glance at Tony, who has a face full of food and is no help, but you feel one of Peter’s hands on your leg, slowly stroking it gently like he’s saying it’s ok, that you can tell him.

You take in a slow breath. “Yeah. Guess now is as best of time to let you guys in on everything.”

part 4 – in his arms

Returning to school on Monday morning was the most difficult part. All weekend, you didn’t receive a single sign from Peter. Your phone didn’t show any notifications from him, not a call, or even just a text, absolutely nothing. It tore you up inside trying to think of what you could’ve done wrong. Everything seemed to have been going so well. MJ tried to hit you up a couple times, asking why you left early from the dance and if everything was alright, but you didn’t feel like talking to her. You didn’t feel like doing anything, really. You just felt devastated, and sad, and broken hearted. All this time you had convinced yourself that Peter was a good kid, that he was someone you could really trust, that he wouldn’t be the kind to hurt you or use you. But now, you just felt foolish and stupid.

With whatever sliver of confidence you had left within yourself, you cleared your throat nervously and clutching your lunch tray, made your way to the cafeteria table. Just because Peter didn’t want to talk to you anymore didn’t mean you were going to end your friendship with Ned and MJ. You had been sitting at their lunch table every day now and it would be weird all of a sudden not to. “Hey,” you gave a weak smile as you approached, setting your tray on the table and sliding into a seat. You made eye contact with Peter and he instantly looked away, grabbing his tray and getting up, leaving the cafeteria. You stared, shocked and angry, watching as he left. “Are you shitting me?”

“Y/n-” MJ’s eyes softened, reaching out a hand to comfort you and you recoiled.

“No, that was, that was such a shit move,” you shook your head, refusing to feel sorry for yourself anymore. “Is he really going to be that immature?”

“He’s just-” Ned went to vouch for him but you held up a hand, cutting him off.

“He couldn’t even bother to look me in the eyes,” you muttered. “Did I really do something that bad?” You glanced down at your lunch, realizing your loss of appetite and got up, throwing away your food and marching out of the cafeteria yourself, frustrated and furious.

During chemistry, all you could manage to do was look back and glare at him. You hated Peter Parker. You decided to be brave and try to befriend him, open yourself up and be vulnerable for once, actually try to make a move with a guy you liked, and this is what you got in return. With no explanation or warning, he just left you, as if you meant absolutely nothing to him. In the middle of the homecoming dance much less. And now, that you were trying to still give him a chance and sit at his lunch table, he straight up ditched you? It made you feel worthless and you hated it. Once the bell rang, you made a bee line towards your locker and tried to go on with the rest of your day as quickly as possible. You told yourself to save your tears for when you got home. You couldn’t cry, not here anyways.

“Miss y/n, you seem distressed and dehydrated. Would you like water delivered to your room?” JARVIS chirped and you groaned, burying your face in your hands as you entered your bedroom, angrily throwing your bookbag to the ground.

“I’m just fine, JARVIS,” you grumbled, letting out a sigh and sitting on the edge of your bed, staring blankly at your phone. You didn’t know what to expect. He hadn’t reached out to you all weekend, and he couldn’t even talk to you at school, there would be no reason for him to do it now. “Fuck you.” You threw your phone across the room, trying to ignore the tears welling up in your eyes, when you heard a knock on your door.

“Hey sweetie, can we talk? I know you haven’t been doing too well lately,” your dad’s voice came from the other side of the door. “I haven’t seen you in the lab once, and I know that’s your favorite place to be. Something’s up. Please talk to me.” He knocked again and you stared, wondering if you should tell him or not. When he and Happy picked you up from the dance, you didn’t explain what had happened. You just said that you felt sick and you wanted to go home. He didn’t pry too much, and you were grateful for it, but now, you almost wanted to tell him. You wanted your dad to kick his ass, just like he promised he would. “Is it okay if I come in?”

You wiped the tears off of your cheeks and walked to the door, opening it and instantly falling into his arms, hugging him, crying harder. “I’m sorry,” you sobbed into his chest and he stood there awkwardly, unsure of what to do, clearing his throat and patting your back.

“Hey, hey let’s uh, let’s take this over there, okay?” he walked you over to where you were both sitting at the edge of your bed, him handing you a box of tissues as you blew your nose, red eyes glancing at his concerned eyes and furrowed brow. “What’s the matter, kiddo?”

“Peter Parker is a major asshole,” you sniffled, shaking your head. “I thought that uh, that he was nice and smart and handsome and charming, but he’s just a dick. Just like all the other boys.”

“Oh, that Parker kid?” Tony raised an eyebrow, looking a bit hesitant. “The boy who took you to the dance? He seemed awfully nice. What did he do?”

“All night he kept avoiding me like I was the plague or something, and it made me feel awful. And he wouldn’t talk to me or even look at me. And then this song came on, and I wanted to dance, and he uh,” your voice broke and you shook your head, shutting your eyes tight, trying to hold yourself together. “He told me that we weren’t working out. And he said that asking me to the dance was a big mistake.”

“Honey…” Tony put a hand on your shoulder and you just cried more.

“I really liked him, dad,” you confessed. “I was… I was hoping he was the one.”

“I’m so sorry, sweetheart. Sometimes boys are just assholes,” he sighed. “I don’t know what to tell you.”

“I just- I can’t seem get over the fact that he never told me why,” you argued. “I doesn’t add up. We were doing so well, and I felt like we were really close, and then that night. He came to the door and he seemed different. And you talked to him and…” You paused, widening your eyes, putting two and two together. “What did you tell him, dad?”

“W-what?” he looked caught off guard and you hardened your piercing gaze, glaring at him.

“That night, when he picked me up for the dance,” you specified. “You talked to him and everything changed. What did you tell him?”

“I didn’t say anything,” Tony lied, although you could easily see the fear in his eyes.

“Bullshit,” you spat. “All night he looked terrified and nervous. You told him something that scared him off, I know you did. He wasn’t like this until he talked to you.”

“Look, Pete? That kid… he was trouble, okay? He was going to hurt you,” your dad finally broke and you stared at him, shocked and confused and infuriated all the same. Tony shrank back and you shook your head, enraged. “I was trying to protect you, I told him that I didn’t want him around you. Trust me, y/n, he might seem nice and all, but I know boys like him-”

“Like hell you know boys like him!” you shouted, angry. “Dad, he was the best thing that ever happened to me! Do you know how happy he made me? How much this meant to me? And now, just cause you’re scared that your little girl is growing up and she’s might get her heartbroken, you took away the only chance I ever had?” You ran your hands through your hair, pressing your lips together, feeling doubly betrayed.

“He was no good for you!” Tony persisted. “He was going to hurt you anyways.”

“Peter Parker was the sweetest boy I’ve ever met in my life,” you refused to believe his words. You stared at him, feeling broken and exhausted. “Dad, if you really cared about me then you would’ve known how much I wanted this.” You shook your head, walking to the door.

“Y/n. Y/n!” he called after you but you ignored him, marching to the elevator. He chased you out of your room. “Where are you going?”

“If you knew me then you would know,” you insisted, letting the doors shut and racing out onto the streets of New York, trying as best as you could to remember the address of that little apartment Peter showed you in Queens.

Thankfully, when you arrived, May had no problem with letting you in. “Is it okay if I talk to Peter?” you asked nervously and she smiled sweetly.

“Of course, sweetheart,” she responded. “He’s in his room right now working on homework. Feel free to just knock.”

And so you did. Standing outside his bedroom door, he opened it, blinking at you, shocked. “Y-y/n? I didn’t expect you to-” he stammered as you roughly brushed past him, quickly shutting the door behind you, facing him with your teary eyes.

“Fuck you,” you stood in front of him, eyes stinging, hands shaky, overwhelmed with emotion. “Why would you do that to me?”

“Y/n, I didn’t mean to…” he seemed so broken up, but you just stared at him, devastated. “I’m sorry.”

“Why didn’t you tell me?” you asked, desperate for some sort of reasoning on his part. “You made me feel so stupid, like you didn’t even like me back, and I felt so angry at you. You couldn’t even look at me at the dance, and then at the lunch table today, god, I just- I get it. My dad scared you or whatever, but fuck Peter- why didn’t you tell me? It’s like you just decided to give up on-”

In the middle of you talking he cut you off, pressing his lips to yours, and you melted into the kiss. It was soft and warm and sweet and apologetic and when he pulled back, he looked at you, nervous, scared. “I’m sorry, y/n. I really am,” Peter insisted, reaching to grab your hand, holding it in his, brown eyes apologetic and genuine. “I’m an idiot. I should’ve told you, and I shouldn’t have done what I did, and I’m sorry. But I um, I also should’ve been honest.”

You looked up at him, biting the inside of your cheek, eyes blurry, still remembering the imprint of his lips against yours. “Go on.”

“I like you a lot, y/n. So ridiculously much. But I haven’t been completely honest with you, because I was scared, and I’m sorry about that,” he apologized. “The truth is, your dad didn’t want you to be with me because he was afraid that I’d put you in danger. The same way he puts you in danger.”

“What are you talking about, Peter?” you stared at him, but he only squeezed your hand tighter, struggling to find the words to say.

“He wasn’t going to let me tell you, or anyone really, and that’s why he didn’t want me near you, but I care about you so much and I don’t want to keep any more secrets between us…” he shook his head, looking up at you again. “You know how your dad is Ironman? And by you being his daughter, you’re constantly in a state of danger simply through association?”

“Yeah…” you trailed off, confused as to where this was going.

“Well-” he instantly shot up his free hand towards the ceiling of his bedroom and a small trap door fell down, making you shriek and jump towards him, a blur of red and blue falling from above. You jumped into his arms and he laughed slightly, holding you tight, and your eyes fixated on the clothing hanging from the ceiling, mouth agape. The red and blue fabric was part of a suit, a spider emblem etched in the center of the chest piece, bionic eyes sewn onto the mask, making your own widen.

               “Holy shit,” you gasped.

“I’m Spider-Man,” he whispered in your ear and you stared at the suit dangling from the ceiling, watching as he shot his free hand up again, swinging the trap door shut and swiping the suit up with it, cleverly tucking the secret away in the ceiling. Your eyes widened before looking back at him, and he seemed scared, waiting to see how you would take it.

“What the fuck, Peter?” you blinked at him, partially terrified.

“I know, I know it’s a lot,” he smiled apologetically. “But I wanted you to know. And that’s why I know your dad, through the superhero stuff. When we first started working together and he found out we went to the same school, he specifically told me that he didn’t want me near you, but I uh, I really couldn’t help myself.” He blushed and shook his head, sobering up. “When he found out I was taking you to the dance, he got mad, because he knew I blatantly ignored his orders, and he thought that if I was around you, then you would be in twice as much danger as you already are. He told me I wasn’t allowed to be with you anymore, and I got scared, and I didn’t know what to do. So I cut you off completely, and I’m sorry.” He shut his eyes tight, tears of his own starting to surface. “That’s so fucked up, and unforgivable, and horrible, and I am so very sorry I put you through that.”

“I just thought maybe you hated me,” you whispered, hugging him tightly, sighing and trying to drink it all in. “But now, I think I’m slowly starting to understand.”

“I shouldn’t have let anything get in between us,” Peter acknowledged. “I really do care about you, y/n. So much.” He paused. “Actually, that night, before the dance, on my way to your house, I was planning to ask you out. And make us official.”

“Really?” you looked up at him, wondering if you should allow yourself to be hopeful again, so soon.

“Really,” he smiled. “I see where he’s coming from, but in the end, I shouldn’t have let your dad scare me.”

“He’s an overprotective jackass of a father,” you sighed. “But I’d be lying if I said I didn’t love him.”

“He’s a good guy, Mr. Stark,” Peter admitted. “You’re really lucky to have a dad like him. He cares a lot about you.”

You nodded your head and hummed in agreement, pausing for a moment. “What are you going to tell him?” you wondered softly, both of you still holding each other, Peter’s fingers running through your hair. “When he finds out?”

“I think I simply might just tell him that I don’t care,” he murmured, shrugging softly. “Cause I really do care about you. And I would do anything to have you back in my life again, because you make me really happy, you do. And I know that I can’t have a normal life, but I can at least try. That would be fair, right?”

“I think so,” you replied. “Why do you care so much, anyways? When you have your other things to worry about, like uh, like the Spider-Man…”

“Cause you’re beautiful, y/n. You’re smart and you’re bold and brave and funny and you always make me smile. When I’m with you it’s like I could stay there forever, and I can’t help but stare at you whenever I see you, and you just-” he looks at you, eyes sparkling, sighing. “You’re the most amazing girl I’ve ever met in my life, y/n. Really. And I’d be damned if I let anyone take me away from you.”

“Sooo…” you giggled, looking up at him, your arms draped around his waist. “Does this make me Spider-Man’s girlfriend?”

“If you’d like to be,” he grinned.

“I don’t think there’s anything I could possibly want more,” you confessed, kissing him again, him holding you in his arms. You couldn’t imagine yourself being with anyone else.

part 3 – the homecoming dance

It seemed as though after spending that evening in his apartment, everything between you and Peter changed. There wasn’t any awkward tension or tip toeing around your feelings. You could simply just feel and not have to be ashamed or embarrassed by it. He started going to meet you at your locker before school, complimenting you on whatever outfit you were wearing, and holding your hand, which was your personal favorite. It was like a reminder that you were finally his. Although neither of you clarified whether you were officially dating yet or not, it was obvious something had changed in your friendship. MJ and Ned were quick to point out this change, teasing you two relentlessly but also congratulating you both.

Even outside of school, Peter was still tugging at your heartstrings. He sent you adorable texts and even facetimed you before bedtime to talk. One morning before school he had even gotten you some iced coffee, and another day offered to walk you home. He was definitely the sweetest boy you had ever met, and you found yourself falling harder and harder for him each day. As the dance approached, Pepper helped you slowly get ready. She went out with you to find the perfect dress, one that complimented your eyes and cascaded down your hips, as well as some matching jewelry. She also briefed you on some dance lessons just in case your brain went blank in the middle of a slow song. You giggled to yourself as you imagined Aunt May doing the same with Peter.

Before you knew it, the night had finally arrived, and you were excited and nervous all the same. Staring at yourself in the mirror, fancy hairstyle framing your makeup painted face, you smiled. You wouldn’t have wanted to spend this night with anyone else but Peter. Walking down to the lobby you smiled at your dad, beaming at you with teary eyes. “You look absolutely stunning, y/n,” he gave you a big hug. “Can’t believe my little girl’s all grown up.”

“Best believe it,” you smirked. “I’ll be up and off to college before you know it.”

“Ah you won’t be gone long,” he shook his head. “I know you’ll breeze right through it. You’ve got your father’s brains.”

“If only she had your confidence too,” Pepper teased. “Then she’d be unstoppable.”

“Yeah right,” you scoffed. “I’m a teenage girl in high school, dad. You probably have more confidence than all of us combined.”

“A visitor has approached the door. Would you like me to let him enter, Mr. Stark?” JARVIS chirped through the building and you felt giddy, heart beginning to race.

“That must be Peter,” you smiled and you saw your dad tense behind you as you rushed towards the door.

“Peter?” he raised an eyebrow, clearing his throat awkwardly.

“Yeah,” you opened the door, proudly presenting your date to your father.

He stood there in the doorframe, just as you imagined, but almost even better. Hair swept back neatly, sporting a tuxedo and a bowtie, smelling faintly of cologne, he was handsome as ever. You wanted to kiss him right there on the spot. “Y/n! You look beautiful,” Peter gasped and you blushed, looking up at him, shy.

“Thank you,” you whispered. “You look very handsome too.” Your dad stepped out from behind you to get a good look at the boy and you stepped back to let them introduce themselves, noting the almost surprised look on both of their faces. Did Peter really think you weren’t going to introduce him to your family?

“Nice to meet you sir,” the boy extended his hand, looking a bit jittery. “Peter Parker.”

“Tony Stark…” your dad drew out his voice, seeming very off, and you stared at him strangely, confused. They shook hands slowly, both staring at each other weirdly, and you narrowed your eyes at the interaction, letting Peter step into the room and watching as the two of them struggled to find words to say.

“Big fan of your work,” Peter nodded slowly, smiling anxiously, entire body tense. “You’re a good man, Mr. Stark.”

“Going to keep my daughter safe tonight, Mr. Parker?” your dad asked, ignoring Peter’s praise, and you rolled your eyes, sighing, slugging him in the shoulder playfully.

“Y-yes sir, of course, absolutely,” Peter insisted, almost as if trying to convince himself, and Tony hummed, still skeptical. Your father turned to you and you instantly felt strange yourself, hoping everything was okay.

“Mind if I have a couple words with Petey here?” your dad asked and you stared at him quizzically.

“Sure, is everything alright?” you turned your head to the side.

“Of course, you know, just the regular don’t hurt my daughter or I’ll hurt you type of talk,” he reassured and you chewed on your inner cheek, looking up at him, hesitant.

You lowered your voice, leaning into his ear to whisper. “Just don’t mess this up, okay dad? I really like him,” you pleaded, and he smiled softly, nodding.

“It’ll only be a couple minutes,” Tony replied. “Why don’t you go out and wait with Happy in the limo. I’m going to talk to Mr. Parker for a little bit.”

Reluctantly, you followed his instructions, going out to wait in the backseat of the vehicle with Happy. Meanwhile, your father confronted Peter in the lobby, pulling him aside so that they were alone. “Look, Mr. Stark, I can explain really-” Peter began but Tony shook his head, shutting him up.

“No. What did I tell you?” he asked bitterly, taking off his glasses, cursing. “Shit. You’re not supposed to be doing these things, kid. And with my daughter? Are you serious? You have a job, people to protect, yourself to worry about. You can’t be involving other people who could potentially get hurt, just so you can boogie for a night in your high school’s gymnasium.”

“I know, I know. But it’s so much more than that,” Peter sighed, apologetic. “And I swear, I wasn’t the one who approached her Mr. Stark, I would never try to mess with your daughter. I know you told me already and everything, but I swear, she approached me. And I didn’t want anything to happen but she just, she’s really a great girl, Mr. Stark. She’s so smart and funny, and she kept asking me to hang out, and we kept talking and I- I couldn’t help but catch feelings. And there was this dance coming up and my aunt, you know my aunt, she kept bugging me to ask someone, and the only person I could think of to bring was-”

“Her. Okay, I get it, kid,” Tony sighed, running a hand through his hair. “But I don’t think you understand. She likes you. A lot. She’s really fallen hard. You’re all she ever talks about. And I’m just afraid if this keeps happening, whatever this is between you two, something bad could happen. You having these powers, being, you know, Spider-Man… It’s a full time gig. There’s no option for girlfriends, Peter. If something ever ends up happening to her, that’s not only going to be on me anymore. That’ll also be on you. And you’re just a kid, I don’t think you’re ready for that yet. I don’t think anyone ever is.”

“I promise I’ll be careful, Mr. Stark. I’d never let anything happen to her, I care about her a lot. I really do,” Peter swore.

“It’s not a matter of how much you care, Romeo. You can’t control things like this,” Tony argued. “Think of what would happen if anything happened to her. If anything happened to you! She’d be devastated. She wouldn’t be able to take it. And if you two stay together, she can’t know. She can’t know about any of this, about your powers or your suit, or the fact that we already know each other. It would be based upon a lie. And she doesn’t deserve that.”

“So what? I’m just not allowed to have a girlfriend?” Peter began to get annoyed. “I can’t be a normal high schooler sometimes? I’m not allowed to bring the girl I like to one school dance?”

“Look kid, none of this is normal. Not a single bit of it. And I know that’s not fair to you, but that doesn’t mean it has to be unfair to anyone else either, okay? Being a superhero, that whole gig, being Spider-Man, that comes before anyone else. Especially girls, no matter who that girl is,” Tony explained. “I’m sorry, but no means no. You just can’t have both.”

“And apparently I can’t choose either?” Peter stared at him, desperate, but Tony insisted.

“Being a hero means doing the right thing,” he said firmly, finalizing his statement. Stark looked at the boy, noticing the sadness in his eyes, and shook his head. It was for the best. “Now go. Have a good night. Give her something to remember. Take care of her.” There was a pause and he sighed. “You can plan on telling her tomorrow.”

Peter blinked at Tony, trying not to either punch him in the face or start crying, watching as your father walked away, unsure of what to think or do. He wanted to swing away, to the highest rooftop, and scream at the sky. But he couldn’t. He had a dance to go to and a girl to take care of. A girl he couldn’t even keep if he wanted to. Walking silently to the limousine, he opened up the door, and you greeted him cheerily, but he remained quiet, making you concerned, furrowing your brow. “What’d he talk to you about? You were in there for a while, I thought you’d never come out,” you chuckled, trying to lighten the mood, but he still looked different. Almost sad. “You okay, Peter?”

“It’s fine,” he shook his head. “He just uh, he told me to have a good time.” He gave a fake smile and you stared at him, concerned, wondering what the fuck your dad just did to make him look so goddamn depressed.

“A-are you sure that was it?” you wondered, and you could pick up the same type of tension on Happy. It was like everyone knew something you didn’t.

“Yeah, just forget about it,” Peter insisted. “It’s fine.”

When you arrived to the dance though, he seemed distracted and distanced, making you worry even more. Ned and MJ greeted you both with their dates, and you all poured glasses of fruit punch and took silly photos at the booth. When it came time to dance, you begged Peter to join you, and you swayed your hips to the music and twirled around in circles, trying to get him to loosen up, but he still seemed off. “What’s up with Peter?” MJ finally cracked as soon as you had stepped away from the boys and you shrugged.

“He’s been like that ever since he picked me up from my house,” you frowned. “I feel like something’s wrong.”

“Did you ask him about it?” MJ wondered and you sighed.

“Several times, but he won’t tell me what’s up,” you replied. “I’m almost scared it might be something I did. We were fine until he came over. Maybe the tower and my dad and everything scared him off.”

“I don’t think so, Peter doesn’t seem the type to ignore you,” MJ insisted. “Just let me know if I can help. I hope you figure it all out soon.”

“Thanks,” you gave a sympathetic smile. “Me too.”

“Best of luck, buddy,” she winked, going off to grab some snacks.

You shook your head, hoping everything would work out. Maybe the dance was just making him nervous. You made your way through the sea of people crowding the gymnasium, trying to find a familiar face. A slow song began to play, one of your favorites, and you instantly rushed towards Peter, holding out your hands. “Come on,” you begged. “Slow dance with me? Please?”

“S-sure, of course,” he smiled, getting up from his chair, making his way to the middle of the dance floor with you. He set his hands on your hips and you rested your arms on his shoulders, smiling as you looked into those hazel eyes you grew so fond of, thinking about just how much he meant to you. Sure, it started off as a silly little crush, having your eyes out for the smart nerdy boy in your chemistry class, but now? You felt like Peter was your best friend, and you wanted him to be something more. He was easy to talk to, to relate to, to be around. When you were with him, it was like the entire rest of the world disappeared.

“Can I tell you something?” you wondered and Peter looked at you, caught off guard.

“Uh yeah, yeah, sure,” he agreed. “But um, I have something to tell you too.”

“You do?” you raised an eyebrow, interested. You secretly hoped it was the same thing. “Maybe you should go first.”

“Are you sure?” he looked quizzical, almost unsure of himself.

“Mhmm,” you smiled, still swaying your hips, looking into his eyes, hopeful. What if he was going to tell you how much he liked you too? Or what if he asked you to be his girlfriend? What if he told you he loved you? No! No way. That would be way too soon. Wouldn’t it? Your heart raced as you watched him struggle to find the words to say, excited as ever, but as soon as they left his mouth you wished he had never said them at all.

“I don’t really think this is working out,” he whispered and you stared at him, beginning to feel your heart shatter into a thousand pieces.

“W-what?” you stammered, freezing in your place, confused.

“Us,” Peter clarified, looking down at the floor, embarrassed. “I think I made a mistake. Asking you to the dance. And I’m sorry.”

“Wait, what?” you almost laughed, trying to convince yourself this was all some crazy prank or something, but you looked up and saw the pain and sadness in Peter’s eyes and you suddenly knew something wasn’t right. Maybe that’s why he had been acting so weird. Did he regret asking you to the dance? He seemed so excited when he had asked you. And he had told you all week how much he was looking forward to it. Was it all just some big lie? You shook your head, still in denial. “You’re joking, right?”

“I’m sorry, y/n,” Peter mumbled, breaking away from you, walking off the dance floor. But you didn’t know what to do, instead just standing there, tears of your own forming in your eyes.

Were you fooling yourself? Were all of these feelings just one sided? Were you too stupid to see what was happening all along? You hated yourself for thinking someone like Peter could ever like you. You were just friends, and that was it. God, Ned and MJ probably thought you looked stupid too. Tears welled up in your eyes as you exited the gymnasium, pulling out your phone, sitting on the curb in your dress, hating yourself for messing everything up. Your phone rang several times before you sniffled, clearing your throat.

               “Uh, hey dad?” you whimpered.

“Y/n?” Tony asked, concerned. “What’s wrong? Are you okay?”

“Can you pick me up from the dance? I want to go home,” you told him, voice shaky, wiping tears from your cheeks.

“Sure thing, kiddo,” he reassured. “I’ll be there in ten. Hang tight.”

part 2 – an apartment in queens

The following weeks you found yourself sitting at Peter Parker’s lunch table nearly every day. You slowly got to know him better, understanding his passion for photography, his love for Star Wars, and of course, his obsession with science puns. Alongside him, you also got to know his friends, MJ and Ned. MJ was more laid back and careless than Peter, messy hair and doodling in class, dark humor and straight-to-the-point conversation. She wasn’t like the other girls you knew who liked to gossip about drama or swoon over boys. Instead she talked about true crime and conspiracy theories. Ned was a lot like Peter, minus the anxiety. He was a goofball who enjoyed LEGOs and read comic books and was always excited to announce whatever latest movie just came out or NASA’s newest discovery. His friends were interesting and cool, and you enjoyed hanging out with them a lot too. Of course, they weren’t nearly as charming and polite as Peter was, but you liked the company all the same. MJ was reliable in recommending you good music and Ned in showing you memes he thought you’d appreciate.

As far as Peter goes, when you weren’t sending silly selfies to each other or texting paragraphs back and forth over the phone, you both made an effort to spend time together at school. Study hall slowly became a regular thing between the two of you. After the dismissal bell rang, you would meet at the cafeteria vending machines to grab snacks, and then spread your textbooks out on a library table and breeze through your homework, sharing jokes and stories about the school day or whatever else was going on in your lives at the time. However, approaching the library that evening, both of you instantly pouted at the notice posted on the door.

“Closed for SAT prep,” Peter read aloud. “Uh oh.”

“You’ve got to be kidding me,” you stared at the piece of paper taped to the entrance, letting out a small huff. “We have a test tomorrow and to be completely honest, I haven’t even read the last two chapters yet.”

“I have,” Peter piped up. “I can fill you in if you want, you can borrow notes.” He turned to face you and narrowed his eyes. “Although it’s not like you to be slacking on an assignment. What’s up?”

“I’ve just been helping my dad with this uh, this project lately,” you replied. “I’m trying to figure out how to improve computation time through admissible heuristic-”

“A* yeah,” Peter blurted, recognizing your words, and you paused, thoroughly impressed.

“Wait! Parker, you’re telling me you know algorithms?” you stood there, jaw still hanging in surprise.

“Sure, I am a computer geek after all,” he chuckled softly, flexing a humble brag. “I have a bit of experience in computer science, if you ever want a helping hand.”

“Holy shit,” you blinked, thinking to yourself, as if he couldn’t get any hotter?

“Anyways, you should really get on those chapters. You know this exam makes up ten percent of our grade for the quarter.” He pauses to think for a moment and then his eyes light up with an idea. “Let’s hang at my place and I can catch you up,” he offers, and you look at him incredulously, practically delirious at this point.

“Y-you want me to come over?” you raise an eyebrow and he stiffens, hesitant.

“Uh, I mean, if you’re okay with that,” he explains. “I just thought since the library was closed, you know, we could find a different place to study. It doesn’t have to be my place we can go to a coffee shop or the park or something-”

“No, no your place sounds perfect,” you insisted, head reeling at the fact that your crush just invited you to their house.

“Awesome, cause I know a really good pizza place on the way,” he grins and you think you could melt on the spot right there.

Peter doesn’t live very far from Midtown at all, just a couple transfers. And as far as pizza recommendations go, he knows the very best spot in town. It’s obvious he’s a Queens kid, the way he walks about the city and interacts with the people, it’s like there’s nowhere else he could ever possibly belong. It’s heartwarming, to see the way he talks about his favorite shops and people, pointing out little things like good climbing trees and perfect awnings for being caught in the rain. If you didn’t know any better, you’d think he created the city himself, the way he was familiarized with everything. It was impressive.

Your dad didn’t really let you out of the tower to roam much. Happy usually escorted you around a in a car or he insisted you take a taxi rather than the subway. When you did go out, it was usually in his company, to a fancy party or a conference hall, a five-star restaurant or a prestigious academy. Being raised surrounded with such success and wealth was a blessing, and you were ever grateful for it, but it was times like these when you wondered what it would’ve been like to just be a normal kid. To be able to explore and meet others and know the city as well as Peter does, every little hideout and bodega, the best spot to watch the sunrise or grab a sandwich.

“Well uh, this is it,” Peter clutched onto the straps of his backpack, giving a nervous smile. “It might not be much, but it’s my home. It’s just me and my Aunt May, she’s the one who pretty much raised me so…” He shrugged and then opened up the door, you being sure to take everything in.

“Oh my gosh Peter! Hi! How was school today? Oh! And you brought a friend!” a bubbly brunette with glasses greeted both of you, scooping up Peter in a hug, and you instantly knew she must be Aunt May. “Hi dear, I’m Aunt May and you are?”

“This is y/n, remember?” Peter introduced you and you raised an eyebrow at that last part, noting the way that he must’ve mentioned you to her before. You tried to hide the blush rising to your cheeks.

“Y/n? Oh yes, how could I forget your-” May paused immediately upon Peter’s terrified eyes and nodded slowly. “Your uh, your?”

“My friend,” he smiled. “She’s my friend, May.”

“Right. Awesome,” she looked at you and you could sense her suspicion, that they were hiding something, but you dismissed it and smiled back. “I’m so glad you could come visit today, Miss Y/n! Peter’s told me so much about you.” You looked at Peter and he gave you terrified eyes, making you laugh. “Oh, was I not supposed to say that?” May turned to you and you laughed harder, reassuring her it was just fine, but inside, your head was reeling. Peter had talked to her about you before? You just hoped it was all good things.

“Anyways… We’re gonna study for our test, so we’ll be in my room. Just knock if you need me,” Peter explained, and to your surprise, grabbed you by the hand and led you down the hall, heart fluttering in your chest every step of the way. He dumped his bookbag on the ground and shut the door, flopping onto his bed, sighing. “Sorry that’s my Aunt May, she can be a little overbearing at times.”

“No, no, you’re all fine,” you reassured, taking a seat next to him at the edge of his bed. “I get it. My dad can be a lot like that too. Lots of questions and pestering- it’s just cause they care about us, you know.”

“Yeah, I appreciate that,” Peter smiled softly, leaning up and looking at you, noticing the way you pressed your lips together, waiting to ask something. “What?”

“You told her about me?” you wondered, and he swallowed nervously, clearly embarrassed.

“I mean, uh… Yeah. I did…” He paused, staring at the floor. “Is that okay?” he asked, scared. “I mean, I tell Aunt May about everything, she’s sort of my best friend- but not in a weird way, she’s my aunt you know, but-”

“You’re fine, Peter,” you laughed. “I’m just giving you a hard time.”

“Oh,” he grew quiet, letting out a soft sigh of relief as you laughed a bit harder, smiling at him. He looked back at you, face reddening, hazel eyes softened. “You have a nice laugh, you know.”

“Really?” you cocked your head to the side, growing self-conscious. “I always thought it was a bit too obnoxious.”

“No, it’s genuine,” he shook his head, insisting. “I like it a lot.” He looked down towards his feet and started to pull out some textbooks from his backpack, and you could’ve sworn you heard him mumble. “I could probably listen to it all day.”

Reading classic English literature was never the most exciting way to pass time, but with Peter, it instantly became your favorite hobby. Both of you impersonated characters and made fun of the old dialect, as well as sprinkled in vine references at every appropriate moment. While writing notes, you doodled cartoons in the margins and decorated them with stickers. It was like hanging out with Peter outside of school made doing school related things much less nerve wracking. It gave you the freedom to be laid back, boisterous, and most of all, handsy. Throughout studying you found yourselves guilty of seeming to find any excuse to touch the other, whether it was poking, tickling, pulling hair, slugging a shoulder, or tugging on a sleeve. At one point, Peter even leaned against your side, resting his head on your shoulder and watching as you scrawled down notes, making your head dizzy.

A notification went off on Peter’s phone and he sighed, walking over to where it was charged on his desk before staring intently. “Woah,” he held his phone screen up to you with the displayed time. “I didn’t even know it was this late! I’m sorry.”

“Oh no,” you glanced at your own phone, spotting the several missed calls and texts from your father, sighing. You didn’t want to leave, but you knew you had to. You didn’t want to dig yourself a deeper hole. Shooting your dad a couple texts and asking Happy to come pick you up, you groaned, realizing there was no avoiding explanations on this one. The school library wouldn’t have even been open for study hall at this time if you said you were there. “Shit, I’ve got to go. I’m sorry, Peter.”

“It’s okay,” he insisted, although you could sense his disappointment too. “Maybe another time?”

“Definitely,” you grinned. “I think I like hanging here much better than the library. You even have a periodic table up on your wall for reference.”

“Exactly!” he pointed out, overexcited, and you giggled at his enthusiasm. “The library’s got nothing on us.”

“It’s a lot quieter in here too,” you added. “Which is ironic, because you’d think a library is the quietest place there is.”

“Not in a high school it’s not,” Peter shook his head and you laughed alongside him.

“You got that right,” you agreed.

Gathering up your things into your bookbag, you joked back and forth with him, until you were about to head out the door and he stopped you, making you freeze. “C-can I ask you something?” he wondered and you stared up at him, wide eyed, nervous. “I’ve sort of been meaning to ask you but I get nervous sometimes and I didn’t know how you’d react but uh-”

“What’s up, Parker?” you smirked, having a feeling that whatever was about to happen could only lead to something good.

“Well you see, there’s this dance coming up, next week actually, and me and Ned were talking about it. Um, it’s the homecoming dance. I was wondering, if it’s okay with you, and it can be as friends or maybe more than friends but well, maybe, I was thinking…” he stopped rambling and sighed, looking at you, frustrated and terrified of himself all at the same time. “Would you like to be my date to the homecoming dance next Friday?”

“Peter-” you stared at him, fireworks exploding in your chest. “Yes! Of course!”

“Wait, really?” his eyes lit up and you nodded eagerly, dropping your bookbag and rushing up to hug him.

“Really,” you insisted, wrapping your arms around him. You had never hugged Peter before, but he was warm and comfy and he smelled like fabric softener. You buried your face into his shoulder, squeezing tight, muffling your giggles. Both of you pulled back and he was smiling ear to ear, you as well. “I wish I could stay longer, but um, I’ll be sure to shoot you a text when I get home.”

“For sure,” he kept smiling at you like a fool, and you couldn’t say anything because you bet you probably looked the exact same.

Waving goodbye to Aunt May and closing the door behind you, you took a step before instantly hearing Peter excitedly ramble on to his aunt. “I asked the question May- the one to the dance. And she said yes! She said yes, holy shit- I’m gonna need a suit. And a corsage. Where do you even get a corsage?”

“Woah, slow down there, kiddo,” Aunt May chuckled. Trying not to eavesdrop any longer, your entire face flushed, heart fluttering, fuzzy feeling enveloping you as you walked down the hall. You were falling for Peter Parker. And you were falling hard.

The car ride home with Happy was pretty quiet, and you knew you were going to get another talking to, you could just feel it. It wasn’t that you were purposely trying to be rebellious or anything, sometimes you just genuinely lost track of time. It was easy to be distracted when you were with someone like Peter. Your attention seemed to effortlessly gravitate towards him, you couldn’t even help it yourself. Making your way up to the elevator, half of you was still buzzing with excitement from your night at Peter’s, but the other half was dreading the rest of the night to come dealing with the repercussions from your dad.

“It’s nine o’clock, y/n. Where in the hell were you? And don’t even start with study hall,” your dad folded his arms, already exhausted.

“I went over to a friend’s house to study,” you explained. “I’m sorry, I lost track of the time and I just-”

“Was it a boy?” he looked at you, narrowing his eyes from behind his glasses and you sighed. “The boy?”

“What does it matter?” you whined.

“It matters because you’re the type of girl to get into trouble,” he argued and you did a doubletake, offended.

“Excuse me?” you stared at him. “I get perfect grades, dad! I’m on the honor roll! And you think that I’m going to get myself into trouble?”

“You’re my daughter, y/n. There’s no way in hell that you aren’t,” he shook his head. Tony sighed, looking you up and down, and then pursed his lips. “Does he treat you right at least? This boy?”

“Y-yeah,” you blushed, nodding, slowly feeling your agitation fade away. “He’s really sweet.”

              “Is he smart?”

“Super smart. He competes in the decathlon, dad. Plus he literally studies computer programming for fun.”

              “So he’s a giant nerd.”

“No! Okay, maybe. But he’s a cute nerd.”

“Alright, alright,” Tony nodded slowly. “So are you two dating or is this a crush type situation?”

“He asked me to the homecoming dance,” you told him, blushing furiously just at the thought of Peter Parker in a suit and tie, hair gelled back, swaying with you on the dance floor.

“I better get around to meeting this kid then,” he insisted. “If he’s inviting you over and going to the dance with you and all.”

“I’m sure you will, dad,” you smiled sweetly. “The dance is coming up soon and he’s obviously going to pick me up so, you can have a couple words with him then. He’ll be dressed up and everything, it’ll make a good impression.”

“Right, right,” he laughed. “Well just be careful, alright? I can’t have my daughter’s heart getting broken out here. He should know he’s messing with Iron Man’s daughter, I’ll kick his ass if he ever wrongs you.”

“I know, dad,” you rolled your eyes, giving him a big hug. “But I think we’re safe with this one. He’s a really good guy. I can feel it.”

part 1 - study hall

Although none of the other girls in your class would agree with you, you were convinced that Peter Parker was the most attractive guy at Midtown High. He had stolen your heart from the very first day of AP Chemistry, confidently answering some basic questions concerning the structure of carbon compositions, and you basically swooned. You found smart guys unbelievably sexy, and ones who were humble were twice as good. Parker was a quiet kid, very sharp and sensible, but also friendly and courteous. Unlike the other boys at your school, he wasn’t loud mouthed and cocky, throwing outrageous parties and trying to hit on every girl within a five foot radius. It was refreshing to see a guy your age not be obsessed with copying down your homework or trying to invite you to a college frat party. Peter Parker was different, and you liked that about him. You liked it a lot.

He kept to himself and two his friends mostly, MJ and Ned, which made you more interested in him and his life. Most days he either wore these adorable blue V-neck sweaters or these goofy science pun t-shirts that looked as if ordered in a bulk pack from Amazon. He was a proud member of the photography club, robotics club, debate team, and Science Olympiad. He was one of the smartest people you knew, and in turn, that simply made him the most attractive. Perhaps it was your father who had established your high standard in boys, seeing as he dabbled in astrophysics and technological engineering as a hobby. He was Ironman after all, being an overachiever was practically a household expectation. You were pretty smart yourself, and although it could be looked upon as rude or inconsiderate, the truth was you liked to surround yourself with others who either matched or challenged your intellect.

Since establishing your crush on Peter Parker, you strived to spend more time with him. You told yourself you could start it off as a friendship with a silly crush and see how things went from there. Towards the end of the class one day, you were determined to talk to the boy. The plan was to ask him to go over some of his notes with you, maybe make it a study date situation, hope he didn’t call your bluff. It wasn’t that you didn’t understand the lesson, you understood everything perfectly fine. Hell, you could probably speak stoichiometry in your sleep. However, you needed a good reason to introduce yourself, so you hoped for the best and decided to take a leap of faith. Nervously smoothing your sweaty palms down on your thighs and gathering your books up from your desk, you walked over to where he was talking to his best friend Ned. “Hey,” you tapped him on the shoulder and he turned around, staring at you with his soft hazel eyes, brunette hair swept up neatly, eyebrows raised in curiosity.

“Oh hi,” he gave a warm smile and nervously cleared his throat. “What’s uh, what’s up?”

“I’m y/n, I sit over there,” you pointed out as an introduction.

“I think I’ve seen you around. Aren’t you Tony Stark’s daughter?” he cocked his head to the side and you groaned slightly, ever the exhausted with being immediately associated with your father.

“Yup that’s me,” you sighed. “Uh, anyways, I noticed you seem pretty caught up on this lesson and I was having some difficulty understanding some of the concepts, I was hoping maybe I could borrow your notes sometime? If that’s okay?”

“Oh?” he seemed surprised, but flattered, blush rising to his cheeks. “Sure! Of course. I’m Peter by the way, Peter Parker.” He gave a nervous laugh and then shook his head. “My notes aren’t the neatest in the world but if you think they could help, I’d be more than happy to lend you them for a night or two.”

“Thanks,” you nodded. “That would be great. I think I’ve seen you in my lunch period too, so I could always just return them to you before class then.”

“Yeah, yeah,” he agreed. “Or uh, if you wanted, we could always hang out at the library afterschool and I could explain it to you. Protein structural components can get a little tricky sometimes.”

“For sure,” you chuckled, realizing how lame you probably sounded laughing over chemistry. “I’m usually free afterschool, as long as you’re okay with it, that sounds great to me!”

“How afterschool tomorrow?” he offered. “Just for an hour or two?”

“Perfect,” you couldn’t help but blush yourself. “Thanks, Peter. Really.”

It felt like your heart was beating out of your chest as you walked away, envisioning his adorable smile still in your mind. He was so sweet, and kind, and understanding. Pretty eager too. You had to stifle a laugh as you heard Ned slug Peter on the shoulder and whisper shout, “Dude! You just scored a study date with Y/n Stark!”

“See ya, Parker,” you turned around and winked, walking out of the classroom and towards your locker.

The next day in class, you kept glancing back in your chair to look at him, smirking to yourself every time you caught him staring back. He was shy alright, and nervous, but it made him all the more adorable. That morning you made sure to fix your hair up and put on a little bit of lipstick, and after being thoroughly interrogated by your overbearing father, you were able to get out the door in one piece. It wasn’t that you were overexerting yourself into catching his attention, but you’d be lying if you said you weren’t hoping to have him compliment you. The rest of the school day, you caught yourself using the rest of your attention to calculate how much time was left until you could rush to the library and actually talk to him for once.

“I thought you’d never show up,” you teased as he took a seat next to you at one of the tables, setting his backpack down on the floor and sighing.

“Me either,” he groaned. “Ned wouldn’t stop bugging me about this being a date.” He gave a nervous laugh and turned to you, but you weren’t laughing. Instead you looked at him, smiling sweetly, unable to resist your temptation.

“It can be a date,” you shrugged, opening up your textbook and waiting for a response, only to catch him dumbfounded, struggling to find words to say.

“Oh, I mean- I-” he stammered and you chuckled.

“I’m just playing with you, Parker,” you playfully reassured. “Now come on, open up those science notes so I can take a good look. I’m still lost on the GPCR structure similarities.”

“That’s what doesn’t really make sense to me though,” he mused, doubtful as he instead swiped your notes across the table, reading them over and pointing at your diagrams. “I think you do. All of these are mapped out perfectly, and your comparisons are spot on.”

“Well there’s no harm in getting clarification,” you replied, trying to grab back your notes but he held them out of your reach, narrowing his eyes. Peter didn’t buy it.

“Why do you need my help, y/n? You’re literally the smartest girl in school. Your father is Tony Stark for heaven’s sake, you don’t need tutoring,” he insisted. “If anything, you should be tutoring me.”

“You?” you scoffed. “Pete, you’re varsity on every academic team there is. No way.”

“I just don’t get it,” he admitted. “Why’d you ask for my help? It’s obvious you understand the lesson perfectly fine.”

“Well…” you blinked at him, shocked at how quickly he had seen right through your cover. “I uh, I don’t know.” Your face turned a bright shade of pink and you began to feel queasy. “Can I be honest?”

“Of course,” he nodded, concerned but also curious as to what you had to say.

“I just wanted an excuse to talk to you,” you confessed, embarrassed. “I always see you around and you seem so smart and you’re a part of all these clubs and teams and I don’t know…”

He looked surprised, almost confused, but then smiled. “Me? Why me?”

“I dunno. You seem really sweet.”

               “Thanks. You too.”

“I was thinking maybe we could be friends? If that’s not too weird or-”

“No, no that sounds, that sounds great,” he insisted, clearly flustered. He looked up at you, eyes sparkling, lips curled up in a smile. “You could’ve just asked you know.”

“Yeah I’m uh, I’m clearly a fool when it comes to those kinds of things,” you laughed nervously, scratching the back of your head.

“Well, since we’re here anyways,” Peter decided. “Want to do homework together instead?”

“Sure,” you agreed. “That sounds great.”

Both of you spent the next couple of hours solving Gauss-Jordan elimination matrices and memorizing resistance series equations. In a lot of ways, Peter Parker was just as much of a nerd as you were. It was comforting to know someone’s brain worked the same way yours did, excited to be challenged with theorems and calculations, determined to find solutions and build upon your already established intellect. When the library eventually closed, you walked to the cafeteria vending machines and grabbed some chips and sodas, exchanging conversation and making each other laugh with stupid jokes.

“Sit at my lunch table tomorrow,” Peter invited after having added you on snapchat. “MJ and Ned will be there, and you can bring some of your friends if you want too.”

“Okay,” you grinned. “Count me in.”

Walking home, your entire stomach was filled with butterflies. Things couldn’t have gotten better. He was genuinely funny, and clever, and really sweet too. You hoped and prayed things would go well between you two. Practically skipping to the elevator, you tried to hide the stupid smile on your face in hopes that your dad wouldn’t pry too much. However, you instantly cringed when you heard JARVIS’ voice greet you as the doors slid open and you reached your floor.

“Good evening, Miss Y/n. It seems that you have finally arrived home from school,” he chirped and you groaned, knowing what was to follow. “Your father has requested that I alert him upon your arrival, he has been inquiring about your whereabouts-”

“Yeah, yeah, I know JARVIS,” you mumbled, setting your bookbag on your chair and frowning. “I came home late, I was at study hall with a friend.”

“You are approximately three and a half hours late from your usual arrival,” JARVIS informed.

“I am aware,” you insisted yet again, noticing your dad march towards you from a hall. Part of you was surprised he even noticed you were gone at all. Most of the time he was either out with the Avengers on a mission or cooped up in the lab working on a new project.

“And where were you afterschool, young lady?” he inquired, arms folded, peering at you above the rim of his glasses.

“I was at study hall with a friend,” you repeated, chewing at your lower lip, trying to play it off. “It took a little longer than I thought it would, I’m sorry.”

“You couldn’t give me a call at least?” he asked, annoyed.

“I didn’t think you cared,” you shrugged.

“Well I’m your father, so I do,” he argued and you nodded, growing quiet and waiting to hear whatever scolding you had coming to you.

Sometimes you wondered why he was constantly on your case. Maybe with him being an Avenger and all, always exposed to threats and danger, it translated to him being constantly worried about you. You knew it was just cause he cared, but at times, it did get a bit overbearing. You’ve learned by now to just nod your head and respond with “yes dad” and “I’m sorry dad” interchangeably.

“Much less, why are you all dolled up?” he looked you up and down in disapproval. You glanced down at your skirt and sweater, remembering the way he had inquired about your hair and makeup this morning. He wasn’t wrong. You rarely ever put any effort into your appearance when it came to going to school. You usually threw on some jeans and a hoodie and made your way out the door. “If I didn’t know any better I’d think you were trying to impress someone.”

“I’m not,” you lied, rolling your eyes. “I just felt like changing it up today.”

“Uh huh,” he drew out. “Twenty bucks says your little friend at study hall was a boy.”

“Dad!” you whined and he smirked.

“That’s all I need to know,” he threw up his hands defensively, secretly proud of himself. “Hey kid, get your homework done and then meet me in the lab. Bruce has a project for you concerning some Dijkstra’s algorithms that are right up your alley.”

“Lucky for you I already got my homework done in study hall,” you pointed out. “So let me grab a snack real quick and I’ll meet you down there.”

“That’s my kiddo,” he smiled proudly. “See ya in a bit.”

It was times like these when you blamed your dad for your high standard in boys. Being the daughter of Tony Stark came with some pretty high standards, and even higher ones for any boy you decided to bring home. So when the cute nerd in your chemistry class catches your eye, you’re determined to get him to like you back.

“How can he look at me and tell me I’m beautiful?” you asked yourself in the mirror. Your fingers shakily lifted up to your face, trailing the tips of your fingers across your flawed skin. In your mind, you made a list of every single imperfection. Blemished skin. Your crooked discolored teeth. The bundle of skin underneath your chin that always makes you lift your phone slightly higher than usual in photographs. When he looked at you, it was almost as if he was staring at the most beautiful painting in a gallery. It made no sense to you because what was in the mirror was nothing short of disgusting.

“You’re doing it again, aren’t you?” Peter asked from the doorway of the bathroom. Your hands dropped from your face, ashamed that he caught you berating yourself once more.

“Sorry,” you whispered, looking away from the creature in the mirror.

He sighed, knowing that you couldn’t help it. He did it too. It was only natural.

“I thought you were still asleep,” you admitted, reaching for your makeup to attempt to hide your blemishes. Before you could reach them, his arms wrapped around your waist and tugged you backwards into him. He hated it when you did this to yourself.

“I was cold,” he mumbled into your shoulder, “Will you come back to bed with me?”

“I was going to-”

“I know. You can do it later.”

You didn’t have the strength to tell him no. So when he grabbed onto your hand and pulled you away from the mirror, you retreated with him. He took you to the bed, sitting down on the edge and placing you onto his lap. It always made you self-conscious to sit on his lap, no matter how many times he told you that you fit perfectly against his body.

“Hey,” he whispered to you, taking your attention away from your insecurities with just the sound of his gentle tone. You felt his soft hand reach up and caress your cheek, directing your eyes to look into his, “You know I love you, right?”

“I know,” you smiled sadly, nuzzling your cheek into his warm palm, “I love you.”

“I love every last thing about you,” he said in a sterner tone, “I love the dimples in your thighs, the way the corner of your eyes crinkle when you smile, the sound of your laugh… those cute little snores that leave your lips when you’re asleep.”

“I snore?” you asked in semi-horror.

Peter laughed, “Just when you’re sick.”

“So that’s how you can tell,” you noted with a tiny laugh. Whenever you got sick, you would keep it to yourself. You didn’t want to worry Peter, he had enough on his plate without having to worry about you. However, he always knew and you never knew how. You’d wake up to see little gift bags by the bed with all your favorite snacks and drinks. On particularly bad days he would surprise you with brand new stuffed animals, he knew they were your favorite.

“Now you know my secret,” he chuckled as he pressed a sweet kiss to your temple. Your eyes close softly as he stays with his lips against your skin for just a secondmore, bringing bright blue butterflies to life inside your stomach. As Peter pulled away, he guided your chin between his thumb and index finger to face him, “It breaks my heart that you forget how much I love you sometimes.”

His thumb gently brushed against your bottom lip, a soft smile gracing his lips. You were speechless under his gaze. You were sure that the midnight sky would cry at how much it dulled in comparison to the speckles of light in Peter’s eyes as he looked at you.

“I know you love me,” you whispered, tears beginning to glisten in your eyes, “I just don’t understand how or why you do.”

Peter let out a heartbroken sigh, his lip quivering slightly at your confession. It tears him apart to hear the way you talk about yourself. In his eyes, the two of you were made for each other. He knew from the moment that he met you. He knew that there was no one else that could fit so perfectly beside him. It was you. It was always going to be you. “Because you are everything I’ve ever wanted and more. You’re my person,” Peter said with so much passion in his voice that every ounce of doubt you had shattered in the air. The tears broke from their cages, racing down your flushed cheeks. Peter’s hands moved to cup your face, wiping the flowing tears with his thumbs.

“You’re so cheesy,” you said, crying to calm yourself from the tears. He chuckled, just nodded to show that he agreed. You begrudgingly removed yourself from his hands, wiping your face free of tears, “I’m sorry I act like this.”

“You don’t have to be sorry,” Peter said with a joking eye roll as he wrapped his arms around your waist and pulled you back into him, “Can we kiss now?”

You laughed at his childishness before pressing a kiss to his lips, “I love you.”

“I love you.”

“You’re wearing glasses.”

At this point, it didn’t startle you as much when your boyfriend appeared in your room - after about three times of you screaming and almost hitting him with something, you got used to it. After all, you left your window open whenever you knew he would drop by, so what did you expect?.

But you looked over to greet him this time and instead you were met with his upside down face. It took you about two seconds to realize he was hanging from your ceiling, and had probably been there for a while.

Peter was giving you a shit-eating upside-down grin, and you sighed as you went back to your paper. “Yeah, great observation there, Pete. Question, how long have you been creeping on me without me realizing you were here?”

“I’ve just never seen you in them before,” he hummed, dropping down from your ceiling like it was nothing. You felt his hands on your shoulders before his arms moved to wrap around you instead, and he pressed a kiss to your cheek. “And how could I not creep on you, you look cute.”

“You’re so damn weird,” you snorted, pushing your glasses back up your nose. “And yeah, I feel real cute after working on this essay for four hours straight, too. Bet the bags under my eyes are designer at this point.”

“Take a break,” he whispered hopefully, and you sighed, leaning back into his arms while he pressed another kiss to your head.

“I really shouldn’t,” you said half-heartedly, and you could almost picture his smug smile at knowing he had won without having to try that hard.

He let go of you to spin your chair to face him, and you were right about the grin on his face. “I have something way more interesting than a history paper to tell you about.”

“Peter, literally anything is more interesting than this history paper, no offense.”

“Ouch,” he chuckled, taking the rim of your glasses between his fingers and gently pulling them off your face.

“Dude, everything is blurry now.”

“Your eyes need a break,” he insisted, and you could see just enough of his blurry face to tell he was trying not to laugh. “Even if you do look adorable in them. Come sit down with me.”

“You’re not hurt or anything, are you?” You asked warily as he tugged you toward your bed.

“Nah, no need for Nurse Y/N tonight.”

“So what did you want to tell me that’s so much more interesting than my paper?” You asked as he pulled you down on top of him, his arms coming around you immediately.

“I don’t actually have anything, I just wanted you to take a break.”

“Wow.”

One of his hands held your waist, the other one coming to your head. You immediately relaxed as he started moving his fingers over your hairline, the headache you felt forming almost going away completely.

“Look who’s the nurse now,” you muttered teasingly.

“Mm, well you’re always taking care of me, so it’s my turn,” he said softly, and you leaned further into his chest and shut your eyes.

“I really hope you washed your suit recently,” you mumbled, making him laugh.

“Can’t you smell the flowery detergent May used?”

You laughed with him, and his hand moved to cup your face, rubbing his thumb over your cheek. “May still washes your suit? You’re a grown man and can’t do your own laundry?”

“Of course I can,” he said defensively, making you snicker, “She just got mad because I might’ve turned a bunch of white shirts pink the other day.”

“You’re hopeless.”

“Yeah, hopelessly in love with you,” he said before peppering your face with kisses, making you laugh and push his face away.

“And you’re lame, too,” you chuckled, letting your chin rest on his chest as you stared up at him. His hands moved up your back to play with the ends of your hair while he smiled cheekily down at you.

“So, why were you wearing glasses?”

“Doctor said I need them. Guess my vision just keeps getting worse. Maybe I need a spider bite to magically cure my eyesight.”

Peter snorted, “Yeah, that’s the last thing you need right now, I promise.”

“Oh come on, it would be fun,” you complained, while he just rolled his eyes, “I would love to beat someone up.”

“First of all, I don’t just beat people up. Second of all, my Y/N, the light of my life - you wouldn’t hurt a fly and we both know that.”

“Maybe if I was all jacked up from a radioactive spider I could. I mean, you seem to have fun all the time.”

“It’s not always fun,” he snorted, but you knit your eyebrows as his happy expression from a second ago fell away slightly. You knew it wasn’t easy and it wasn’t always great, but you assumed for the most part he did have fun. Most of the time he was coming to tell you about something funny that happened while he was donning the suit, very rarely having troubles anymore.

“Don’t…you like being Spider-Man?”

Peter was quiet long enough for you to lift yourself up onto your palms so he could look at you. You raised an eyebrow, and he sighed, leaning his head back against your pillow.

“Itcan be fun, but I feel so tired lately,” he finally said, his eyes shutting, “I guess it’s just been a lot to juggle everything.”

“Well, even superheroes deserve a break, y'know,” you patted his chest, “I’m sure everyone would agree with me.”

He nodded, but something else seemed to be bothering him as he searched your face.

“Are you happy with me?” Peter asked, his voice almost sounded strained, and you sat up immediately. “Like genuinely happy?”

“What? How can you even ask that?” You took his face in your hands as you situated yourself on his lap, his hands automatically coming to your waist to hold you there. “Of course I’m happy with you. Or I would leave you out of the fire escape every night. You’re everything to me, you know that, right?”

“Okay,” he finally agreed, his eyes still searching yours as his thumbs rubbed circles against your hips. “If you’re sure…”

“Areyou happy?” You asked quietly.

“How could I be anything but happy when I have you?” He mumbled tiredly, and you smiled. He took your hand and pressed a kiss to your palm before leaning into it again. You brushed your thumb along his freckled cheeks.

“Okay,” you smiled as you leaned down to kiss him, “As long as you’re happy, then I’m happy. Glad we settled this.”

He chased your lips, and you let him pull you back down against the mattress with him, still holding his face between your hands. “Good, because my goal is to make you as happy as possible, okay?”

“Sounds good to me,” you hummed as he kissed you again, knowing you shouldn’t be getting lost in it with your essay waiting to be finished a few feet away.

But it had been a while since your free time matched up with his. With the way he was holding your waist to press you closer against him, and the noise he made when you tugged on his hair; it was a little too hard to remember you had important things to do.

“You know,” Peter mumbled almost breathlessly against your lips after a moment, “I’m still not feeling that convinced that you’re happy.”

“Are you serious?” You deadpanned, and he had the nerve to give you a soft grin as if you weren’t both just making out. With an eye roll you went to kiss him again, noticing when he was visibly more eager this time, but you weren’t done.

“Icould convince you,” you pulled away with a grin as his eyes lit up, “But you interrupted my essay, so you have to wait.”

He let out a frustrated noise as you climbed off him, grabbing your glasses again and going back to your desk.

“You’re the worst,” Peter grumbled from your bed, making you snicker.

“Andyou are such a boy. Patience is a virtue.”

He gave you about five minutes before he muttered, “I don’t like patience.”

-

“I’m in so much pain,” Peter whined, and you rolled your eyes only because you knew he was fine. “They almost killed me. I’m dying, baby.”

“At this point I’m going to kill you,” you muttered, and he pouted. “Sit still.”

This wasn’t the first time (and you were sure it wouldn’t be the last) that he had come to you after a long day or night, littered in cuts and bruises and sometimes even deeper wounds. You didn’t mind - in fact, you liked that he came to you out of everyone else, even before you were dating. You liked that he was comfortable enough to be vulnerable around you, to admit that he needed you, even if you hated seeing him hurt in any way.

Still, he refused hospitals, so this was just how it was.

He sat still for maybe two seconds before wincing and shifting on your bed, and you leaned back up and glared at him.

“Maybe if you didn’t poke me so hard I wouldn’t move!” He said defensively before you could speak, in that same whiny tone. You gave him a dirty look as you went back to cleaning his cut.

“You know, you used to come to my room apologizing and feeling so bad for taking up my time,” you said wistfully, but the teasing glint in your eye told Peter you were kidding, “Now all you do is complain.”

“Mmm, because now I know you would never leave me out on the fire escape,” he smiled lazily at you, and you snorted.

“Yeah, guess I just like you too much for that. Even if you are a brat.”

“Oh my God,” he said in quiet shock, “Do you have a crush on me?”

“Peter, I’m going to purposefully poke you now.”

He finally sat still as you finished up and grabbed the little sewing kit you borrowed from MJ that you had converted into more of a proper stitching kit. Peter had a great talent for getting stabbed and this had become a necessity.

“You’re wearing the glasses again,” he murmured after a minute, “Look so pretty.”

“Why do you always compliment me when I look like shit?”

“How dare you say that about my girlfriend,” he fired back, and you burst into laughter, moving your hands so you wouldn’t poke him with the needle. “You are always the most beautiful, gorgeous, breathtaking-”

“Shut up,” you mumbled, going back to the stitches, “I love you, dork.”

“Totally have a crush on me,” he said quietly, and you tried not to laugh again as you finished the last stitch. “And I love you too.”

Peter grinned at you when you snipped the last stitch, “You should totally go to med school, babe. This was top-notch doctor service.”

“Is that you offering to pay for it?”

“Right, the country likes to make doctors pay hundreds of thousands of dollars to go in debt, I forget,” he sighed, flopping back on your bed. “Guess you’ll just have to stick to regular people college because Spider-Man does not get paid.”

“You should get paid,” you huffed as you put everything away, “All the shit you have to put up with.”

“I don’t do it for money,” he hummed, shutting his eyes, “I do it so I don’t get sleep, apparently.”

“Take a nap,” you suggested, standing up, “Some of your clothes are in my drawer, and I have to work on my project anyway, so I can’t give you that much attention.”

“I would die without your attention.”

“Well, die then,” you snickered at his offended expression, “I’ll take a break when you wake up, deal?”

“Fine.”

The sight of Peter asleep on your bed was hilarious - he knocked out immediately, sprawled out on top of your bed in the funniest position. You couldn’t help but take a picture to send to Ned and MJ, knowing they’d find it as funny as you did.

For an hour or so, you made yourself work on the project, just finding yourself more annoyed with it as it went on. Peter’s quiet breathing behind you, as weird as it sounded, made you relax slightly. Your group members weren’t responding, so you couldn’t get much done anyway, and really you would rather be taking a nap with your boyfriend. But you had papers to grade for the class you were an aide in, and other assignments to do, so you didn’t let yourself crawl into bed with him even as much as you wanted to.

“Did you really send that to Ned and MJ?” Peter’s tired voice almost made you jump a while later, not hearing him get up.

“Yeah, sorry,” you said distractedly, typing a few more sentences into one of the slides.

“Do you even know what I’m talking about?” His voice softened, a hint of a teasing tone in it, but you still weren’t paying attention.

“What?” You finally looked over at him, hesitant to pull your eyes away from the screen. He seemed to look worried at your expression.

“Are you okay, sweetheart?”

“I’m going to jump off the Empire State building,” you suddenly groaned, taking your glasses and putting your face in your hands. You felt his hand rub your shoulder, making you realize how tense you were. “In a really dramatic fashion, too, so my professors know it was their fault.”

“Well, that won’t work, ‘cause I’ll catch you,” Peter sighed. “No dying on my watch.”

“I’ll do it when you’re not there. Anything to avoid this class.”

“I will simply know that you are planning to jump off a building. Spidey senses and all that, and I can practically read your mind considering how long we’ve known each other.”

“Or maybe you’re just an empath, in that case.”

“Alright. I think you meant telepath, so you definitely need another break, your mind seems to be snapping, Y/N.”

You let out a groan when he pulled your chair back for you, holding his hand out. “Fine. Can’t ever say no to you.”

Peter grinned as he pulled you up from your chair, pressing a kiss to your forehead. “Whatcha wanna do on your break?”

A few minutes later, and you were leaning against your pillow while Peter sat crisscrossed in front of you on your bed, a pile of cards between you both. You frowned as you pushed your glasses back up your nose, still squinting at your cards.

“Any kings?”

“Go fish.”

You sighed, picking up a card. “This is killing me.”

“Well, I offered slapjack instead, but you said it gave you anxiety to play fast games with me.”

“Because it does! Your stupid senses always seem to know where the jack is. And you always go crazy slapping it.”

“I like card games!” He said defensively, glancing at his deck, “Uh, got a five?”

“Motherf-,” you handed him the card, frowning, “I think you have another super power, somehow just knowing what my cards are.”

“No idea what you’re talking about,” he winked at you, making you roll your eyes. “Got a seven?”

“You’re kidding me,” you handed him your seven, “How are you cheating? You’re definitely cheating.”

“Y/N, you’ve accidentally shown me your cards three times now. You keep holding them low and I can see all of them.”

You gasped dramatically, lifting your foot to kick his shoulder while he laughed at you. “You are cheating! I’m dating a cheater!”

“You deserved it,” he laughed, grabbing your ankle and lightly pushing you off, “Like, the basic rule is to keep your cards to yourself.”

“Wow, and now you’re blaming me, the victim in this? I should’ve seen these red flags years ago, I can’t believe this.”

“Baby,” he said between laughs, suddenly reaching for you and pouting when you crossed your arms and leaned back, “I’m sorry, please forgive me. You know I’m competitive.”

“And a cheater,” you stuck your tongue out at him, yelping as he grabbed you by the forearms and pulled you on top of him, your back to his chest. He wrapped his arms around you tightly while you laughed at him, all the cards scattered across the floor.

“I’m not a cheater,” he said almost convincingly in your ear, but you turned yourself around in his arms to give him a dirty look.

“You just admitted to it. Like five seconds ago.”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about, I would never do any such thing,” he said against your neck, pressing a few kisses there while you scoffed.

“And a gaslighter too, apparently!” You yelped when he rolled you over, giving you a teasing glare as he hovered over you.

“You take that back.”

“No way.”

“Fine. I have no choice.”

You sighed when he flopped all his weight down on you, which felt like a lot considering how strong he was now. One of his hands moved to your side, squeezing it lightly and making you let out a laugh, hating that he discovered where you were most ticklish.

“You’re picking all those cards up off the floor, by the way,” you said between laughs, and he finally left you alone.

“Alright, fine,” he sighed dramatically, pulling away from you and standing up, “Only cause you’re my best friend.”

“Wow, I’m offended on Ned’s behalf.”

He gave you a look, bending down to pick up the cards. “That’s different.”

“Yeah, at least give me some warning before you run off into the sunset with him, okay?”

“Could say the same about you and MJ,” he stuck his tongue out at you, and you laughed as you picked up the remaining cards on the bed.

“Touché.”

You both fell into a comfortable silence as he handed you the rest of the cards, and you put them away. He was humming as he re-adjusted your pillow and blankets, making you snort when you recognized the cheesy old song.

After a minute you looked back at your computer, knowing you probably spent too long away from your work. You didn’t even want to know what time it was.

“I don’t even want to think about this stupid project anymore.”

“What if you danced with me instead,” Peter suggested, and he was already pulling you to your feet before you could respond to that.

He held both your hands and swung your arms back and forth, making you bite your lip to keep from laughing. “Peter, you suck at dancing. No offense.”

“Eh, who cares, we’re having more fun than the project is giving you,” he spun you in a loose twirl, half singing the same song he was humming before, which you couldn’t help but laugh at this time. He pulled you back to his chest, moving you both gently side to side again.

“I really have to go back to my project,” you sighed, leaning your head against his shoulder, “I don’t want to.”

“Is it a big part of your grade?”

“Yeah.”

“Well, then I’ll stop distracting you,” he said in defeat, making you frown as he pulled back.

“I was kind of hoping you’d just tell me to not do it.”

“Your education is important to you,” Peter shrugged, “So I’ll encourage you to do it even when you don’t want to.”

“Ugh. You need to stop being a good boyfriend. Encourage me to drop out instead, please.”

“Sorry, no can do,” he gave you a cheeky grin, and you sighed in fake disappointment.

“And you can’t work without these,” he picked up your glasses, putting them on his own face, which made you burst out laughing. “I can’t see anything with these on.”

“You look so cute in glasses,” you mimicked his voice horribly, and he chuckled as he wiggled his eyebrows at you before sliding them off.

“I miss when you used to have to wear glasses,” you said wistfully, smiling as he put them back on your face gently. “My little nerd. You’re still a nerd, actually.”

He rolled his eyes but kept his hands on your face, leaning forward to give you a quick kiss. “Eh, I looked dorky. You look really cute in them.”

“As you keep telling me,” you smiled as he brushed his thumb across your cheek, his brown eyes softening.

“You’re tired,” he pointed out, and you sighed. “You should’ve taken a nap as a break instead of entertaining me with a really easy go fish game. I would’ve woken you up, sweetheart.”

“Only easy cause you cheated.”

“Could’ve told me you aren’t sleeping,” he ignored that as he wrapped his arms around you, and you melted into the embrace, shutting your eyes. “I would’ve left you alone.”

“I don’t want to be left alone,” you chuckled as he started swaying you both back and forth, “Besides, we don’t have that much time together. I still manage at least five hours a night.”

“Five hours,” he repeated, shaking his head, “You know that isn’t enough.”

“It’s grad school, Peter. That’s like, more than normal for us. And I know you don’t sleep that much, either, hypocrite.”

“Yeah, but I worry about you. Don’t like seeing you tired. If only homework was a bad guy I could fight for you.”

You laughed at that mental image, and his arms tightened around you as he pressed another kiss to your hair. Not for the first time, you felt so lucky to have a boyfriend that made you forget all the other troubles you had, even if it was just for a moment.

“You do make me happy, Peter,” you said randomly, and Peter’s wide smile when you pulled back almost made you lose your train of thought. “Seriously. I don’t want you to doubt that ever again.”

He leaned his forehead against yours, his expression soft again.

“You make me happy, too,” he said quietly, his nose brushing against yours. “You make me feel like it’s just the two of us, all the time, you know?”

“I feel that way, too,” you agreed, closing to gap to press your lips against his briefly, “Now I need to get back to my stupid project.”

“So romantic.”

You must’ve fallen asleep at your desk, because at some point you woke up in your bed, an arm thrown over Peter’s waist as his wrapped around your back. He must’ve felt you wake up, because his arm tightened around you as he shifted.

“Should I go home?” He brushed some hair from your face, his eyes still mostly shut.

“Nah, I sleep better when you’re here, anyway,” you whispered back, and his sleepy half-smile made you even more happy with that decision.

“Mm, me too,” he murmured, pressing his lips against your hair. “Love you.”

“Love you, too.”
